Finnish energetic hard rockers Rylos has released new melancholic song “Back of the Line” that drills into the downsides of the modern western societies.

Listen to the single on music services (Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Tidal etc.): https://push.fm/fl/rylos-backoftheline

The song tells a true story about a person who drops out of society due to an illness and feels that he is a worthless person and that society no longer cares on any level, he always ends up at the back of the line. The main character gets frustrated and goes to riot on the steps of the parliamentary and still no one notices him. The question is whether does anyone care about us for real.

Composers: Mikko Heino, Niko Partanen, Juha-Pekka Pusa, Riina Suikkanen
Lyrics: Mikko Heino

Rylos has been making music regularly for last ten years, which includes 4 albums, 7 singles and the video game Space Adventure. Currently, Rylos is touring and recording the fifth album  Signs of Life.

EMERGENCY RULE Announce East Coast Australian Tour

Aussie rockers EMERGENCY RULE are set to launch an East Coast run of shows in support of their debut album, ‘The King of Ithaca’. After recording sessions took place in between lockdowns, the album has finally emerged and the guys will be taking the riffs to Gold Coast, Sydney, Canberra & Melbourne, with a couple of hometown Adelaide shows thrown in the mix.

The Gold Coast show will be at Sonic Gravy Festival which has returned for a second year and features Brant Bjork (ex Kyuss) and his Trio as headliner. The King of Ithaca released in early February, has been lapped up by the music media.

“The album hits hard from the opening track and doesn’t let up. You’ll get taken into a world influenced by Sabbath, Floyd, and Maiden as much as blues or Bach. It’s that last shot of whisky, it’s that middle finger to your boss, it’s that last conversation you say to your girl as you leave her in the rearview mirror. It’s Emergency Rule.” – Hifi Way

“As soon as Emergency Rule hit the stage Bass guitarist Doug Clark’s fat bass sound and growling vocals immediately grabbed you by the throat as the band tore through their set of Sabbath inspired heavy riffery complimented by twin Lizzy style lead/harmonies on guitar compliments of Chris George and Cal Wegener. Add Ex Superjesus drummer Trav Dragani’s massive drum sound, as he destroys yet another set of skins and cymbals, and it’s the perfect storm.” – THE ROCKPIT

The Emergency Rule juggernaut steam rolling in for a night filled with monster riffs that will have you craving an encore!

Tour Dates
March 31st – Adelaide, Crown & Anchor (supporting Brant Bjork)
April 6th – Gold Coast, Mo’s Desert Clubhouse, Gold Coast (Sonic Gravy Festival)
April 12th – Canberra, Potbelly Bar w/The Deadriders & Parrots with Piercings (Canberra)
April 13th – Sydney, The Duke of Enmore w/ The Deadriders & Psychoda (Sydney)
April 19th – Melbourne, Last Chance Rock & Roll Bar w/Flying Dutchman & El Bebe (Melbourne)
April 20th – Adelaide, Crown & Anchor w/El Colosso
May 10th – Melbourne, The Gaso w/El Colosso

It’s Sabbath with attitude, Down with a swagger, Skynyrd with power. The band’s laid-back vibe is a smokescreen to the musicians’ earth-shaking riffs.

Bringing heavy grooves, V8 style booming bass lines, and pounding room-quaking drums, Emergency Rule is a foot-stomping, head-banging rock ‘n’ roll sensation.

They’re a band of gifted musicians with a diverse history featuring Doug Clark (Universum) on bass/vocals, former 63 Stone guitarists Chris George and Cal Wegener, with Travis Dragani (Bruce Kulick, Mike Tramp) on drums.

They have supported acts as prestigious as Corrosion of Conformity, Suicidal Tendencies, Buckcherry, Sasquatch, Dozer, and Hardcore Superstar, and after a few years of teasing us with singles they are about to drop their thumping debut album ‘The King of Ithaca’.

Whether it’s the deal with the devil ‘Snake Eyes’ or the bar room barfly ‘Bartender’, Emergency Rule is a good time, no-nonsense-boogie-grooving infectious vibe. Pull up a chair, get a drink, and roll that dice.

MARJANA SEMKINA Announces New Album “Sirin” + Streams First Single ‘We Are The Ocean’

Progressive dark folk artist Marjana Semkina has announced the release her second solo LP – Sirin – on 31st May 2024 along with a Kickstarter campaign. She has also unveiled the first single ‘We Are The Ocean’ along with a stunning lyric video.

Pre-order Sirin here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/marjanasemkina/sirin

Known for her work as the vocalist of prog duo Iamthemorning, self-exiled Russian Marjana has forged a successful solo career with two critically acclaimed solo releases: her 2020 debut solo album Sleepwalking, and 2021 follow-up EP Disillusioned. Like its predecessors, Sirin is a journey of dark stories and fairy tales, told with Marjana’s uniquely captivating voice, on a foundation of detailed musical arrangements. However there is a prevailing darkness and grief, inspired by of Russian invasion of Ukraine, with the first single about by the protests.

On new single ‘We Are The Ocean’ Marjana comments: “This song was inspired by all of my Russian friends coming out to protest against the war when it started, despite the fact that there was a very good chance they’d get arrested for doing so – a lot did in the end. I wrote lyrics to this song on a train to one of those protests in London, Trafalgar Square in early March 2022.”

Watch the lyric video for ‘We Are The Ocean’ here:

On the album Sirin, she continues: “Sirin is a mythical creature from ancient Slavic mythology, half-bird half-woman, she’s a harbinger of bad luck and death, and it’s believed that if you meet Sirin a big catastrophe will happen – except in case with the events surrounding this album it’s already happened. Sirin cries and mourns for humankind, and nothing can be more appropriate in this day and age. Sirin is one of very few creatures that can travel between worlds – a world of gods of light, a world of dark deities (in some versions an alternative to the underworld) and a world of mortals. This felt appropriate because the album is quite diverse in sound and some might think parts of it sound happy, but the subject matter is almost always quite morbid, which creates a contrast that I enjoy.

“I was never very political and I always tried to keep my art within the realms of lore, literature and imagination. But when events like the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine happen, it is impossible – and I’d even say, unforgivable – to stay silent and do nothing. Thankfully being based in the UK I feel rather safe speaking out against the current regime and I do have a platform that I can use to try and show the world that Russians disagree with the actions of the Russian government, and there are so many of us that only wish for this to be over. I’m just trying to show it in the most artistic way I can muster.”

Now permanently based in the UK, Marjana has been an active campaigner against the Russian occupation in Ukraine and has raised thousands of pounds via her activities to support the victims of war. She will continue her work, including selling a number of a limited run of handwritten lyrics from Sirin, with the money going to Ukrainian charities. Acts punishable by 15 years imprisonment should she return home.

Marjana is joined by an array of world class musicians (detailed below), which includes two very special guest vocal performances from Jim Grey (Caligula’s Horse) and Mick Moss (Antimatter).

Marjana has previously collaborated with many incredible artists, including The Flower Kings, Jordan Rudess, Blackbriar, as well as Anna Murphy with their Maer project. Combined with her work in Iamthemorning, her experiences have enabled her to become one of the most unique and exciting solo artists in the progressive world today.

Paul Di’Anno’s Warhorse released a EP entitled “Stop The War” on BraveWords Records. The EP “Stop The War” is in advance of the band’s upcoming full length debut album.

Listen to “Stop The War”: https://smarturl.it/WarhorseEP

Speaking about the Stop The War EP, Paul Di’Anno said, “I’m looking forward to the digital release of ‘Stop the War’, ‘Warhorse’ and ‘The Doubt Within’ and I hope you like it. By my standards, too much time has passed since the recording of this album and I can’t wait to finally have this record in my hands.”

Warhorse members Hrvoje Madiraca and Ante Pupačić Pupi commented on the Stop The War EP, “Are you ready – Ready to rock? Cause we are ready – Ready to rock! As the song says 🙂 ! Enjoy the album, cheers!”

The debut Warhorse album releasing later in 2024 was recorded during 2022 and 2023 in Croatia and the UK. On nine new songs and two fantastic covers, Paul sings like never before and in a way that will surprise and leave all his fans speechless, as well as heavy metal fans in general. Paul will perform with Warhorse all over the world and return the old spirit of heavy metal to where it belongs.

The core of the band and founders are Paul Di’Anno, vocals, Hrvoje Madiraca, guitar and Ante Pupačić Pupi, guitar.

Paul Andrews, a British singer better known by his stage name Paul Di’Anno, his nearly half-century-long career began explosively with Iron Maiden, when with the EP ‘The Soundhouse Tapes’, and the albums ‘Iron Maiden’ and ‘Killers ‘ forever cemented the foundations of heavy metal. With timeless hits like ‘Iron Maiden’, ‘Remember Tomorrow’, ‘Running Free’, ‘Phantom of the Opera’, ‘Killers’, ‘Wratchild’, Murders in the Rue Morgue’, ‘Purgatory’ etc., they influenced numerous musicians and bands and were responsible for the creation or development of many subgenres in metal music.

Paul is known as one of the most productive singers, who has a huge number of albums and other releases behind him, either as a solo artist or a member of bands such as Gogmagog, Di’Anno’s Battlezone, Praying Mantis, Killers, Rockfellas, Architects of Chaoz or Warhorse. In all his incarnations, Paul always knew how to find a way to the fans, with numerous hits, uncompromising singing, which is confirmed by his successful career and furious live shows around the world.

For the last eight years, Paul faced serious health problems that almost ended his career, but thanks to his loyal fans, friends, Iron Maiden and his strong will to overcome the disease, Paul is on a big world tour again, and he recorded a new album with the Paul D’Anno’s Warhorse band, which will be released in mid-2024 for BraveWords Records, a new label, which is also an integral part of one of the most strongest brands in heavy metal music.

This icon of heavy metal with the heart of a punk rock rebel never spared himself in his life, but he always gave everything for music and fans, which is why they have followed him faithfully for almost fifty years.

Warhorse is the original band/project of Paul Di’Anno. The first idea of forming a band arose in December 2021, when Paul and guitarist Hrvoje Madiraca met in Zagreb, Croatia. The formation and naming of this project happened simultaneously with the writing and recording of new songs, which were started immediately after Paul and Hrvoje joined hands and thus formed the band. Warhorse independently released the DVD single ‘Stop the War’ in a limited edition of 666 copies and sold it out in just a few days. This was followed by the fantastic ‘Stop the War’ lyrics video, which delighted fans around the world. The Warhorse project gathered fantastic guest musicians on some songs, and a video will be filmed for almost every song on the album. The core of the band itself is the three ‘horsemen’ Paul Di’Anno – vocals, Hrvoje Madiraca – guitars and Ante Pupačić Pupi – Guitars. Fans at Warhorse live shows can expect a live explosion, musical virtuosos and a top stage attraction. Paul Di’Anno in the stadium edition, would be the most appropriate description. Warhorse is a parallel band to his classic ‘Paul Di’Anno’ line-up and unlike his standard set list, Warhorse concerts will abound with Warhorse songs, with the addition of Iron Maiden classics and special, unexpected covers chosen by Paul Di’Anno.

BraveWords Records have agreed to physical distribution deals with Plastic Head in Europe and MVD in North America.

HIEROPHANT Premiere New Live Album “Gateway to the Abyss” Ahead of Release

Italy’s death-black metal force HIEROPHANT unleash their live album, “Gateway to the Abyss”, out on March 29th 2024 via Dusktone Records.

Today, No Clean Singing is hosting the official premiere of the album in the form of a professionally filmed live video of the Hellfest performance from which “Gateway to the Abyss” is based. Watch it HERE.

Recorded during their acclaimed concert at France’s Hellfest in 2023, “Gateway to the Abyss” offers a fresh take on the band’s latest album, “Death Siege” (Season Of Mist). To HIEROPHANT, Hellfest was a monumental occasion, where these musicians and an enormous production came together to forge a frantic and vigorous spectacle.

The songs remain the same, but captured in the urgency of a live environment, they appear even rawer and heavier than they were originally, and the maturation of the last couple of years spent on the road, following the conquest of several prestigious stages (MetalDays, Party.San and many others), makes them more savage.

“Gateway to the Abyss” is the most feral representation of what HIEROPHANT is about: hatred, blood, nihility. FIRE WILL RISE!

Pre-orders and the first single “Death Siege” are now available at THIS LOCATION.

Tracklist:

01. Mortem Aeternam (Intro)
02. Seeds of Vengeance
03. Devil Incarnate

DEFECTS Reveal Lyric Video for New Song ‘Modern Error’, Title Track of Upcoming Debut Album

Following on from their exhilarating European Tour with Orbit Culture, fast-rising UK metallers Defects have revealed the lyric video to their brand-new track, “Modern Error.” You can watch the video HERE.

The song is taken from their profoundly personal debut album, Modern Error, which will be released on 24 May via Mascot Records. Listen/Pre-Order HERE

“Our run with Orbit Culture has been amazing,” the band says. “They are like family now for sure. Great band and crew and it’s been super chilled. The shows on this run have been packed full of energy and raw intensity. It’s been overwhelming having people come up to us after buying merch and telling us that we are up there now with their favourite bands.”

The anthemic title track equally crushes and paints a poignant message as singer Tony Maue explains, “We started writing the single Modern Error back in 2019 and it came together quite quickly. I had written bits about the way the world was going and when I heard this track it fuelled me to carry on and see where it went. I think the song is a good word of warning to the people running the world and how it needs to change.”

The track follows on from recent single Lockdown, which captured the mental challenges of the pandemic. Maue explains, “The lyrics are probably some of my favourites on the album as it captures frustration towards a government and the rules we were made to follow.” This rolled into the room after the Arena bulldozing Broken Bloodlines which focuses on leaving behind negative forces in your life.

Modern Error is breathtakingly raw with emotion. Conceptually, it is a deeply cathartic album that acts as a vessel for singer Tony Maue to organise his thoughts on the trauma of being taken into care at a young age. Threaded through the album are the experiences that Maue has been through, how the five members of the band are all connected and why, at this moment, right now, is the right time for this band to exist. For themselves as much as anyone else.

There is a reason that the album has such personal themes. “I use songwriting as a tool to vent rather than be poetic,” explains Maue. He was taken into care from a young age, and that trauma and the experiences that followed are ones that he has battled with ever since. “The traumatic memories of going into care, losing my family when I was very young, and having to deal with that and adjusting myself to that kind of lifestyle, at the time was brutal. The only thing that helped me, and I’m not just saying this, was music.”

All five members have their stories – Tony Maue (Vocals), Luke Genders (Guitar), James Threadwell (Guitar), David Silver (Bass) and Harry Jennings (Drums). Jennings explains his entry, “I’d stopped enjoying playing music, which I had dedicated my life to since I was 7 years old,” he says. “It had all fallen apart. To feel like you’ve had a dream beaten out of you destroyed me as a person. It took me down a very dark path, and I did things I regret and am not proud of. I feel I’m in a position now where I can talk about it.”

Genders says, “Having the freedom to write freely in a band whilst trusting and respecting each other’s vision is something I hadn’t had in a very long time; dismissive people helped me to fuel my instrumental contributions to Modern Error. For the first time ever, I learned how to channel negativity into something positive.”

Modern Error hits with the heaviness and aggression of Lamb Of God and Machine Head, a Linkin Park-like sense of melody, and a touch of Bring Me The Horizon’s fearlessness. For all its heavy subject matter, it burns with vitality, power and passion. Woven within is their outlook on the world.

Track List

1. Intro
2. Scapegoat
3. End of Days
4. Dream Awake
5. Another Heart To Bleed
6. Recurring
7. Lockdown
8. Echo Chamber
9. Interlude
10. Modern Error
11. Broken Bloodlines
12. Second To None
13. Gone To Waste

Defects smashed into 2024 on the back of a triumphant European tour with Of Mice & Men and the announcement that they will be playing this year’s Download festival. They’ve added these to their already impressive live cannon which includes shows with Bullet for My Valentine, Funeral for a Friend and In Flames as well as performing at festivals such as Bloodstock, 2000Trees and The Great Escape.  They are continuing to steamroll through the year with festival slots at  Download (UK), Graspop (BE), Rockharz (DE) and Rock The Lakes (CH).

“We’ve always been told to strive for perfection, but I don’t think anyone can be perfect,” Maue considers. “We are all defects in a way, but that makes us all unique.”

20-23 Jun – Graspop Festival – Dessel, BELGIUM
