GATECREEPER Announce New Album “Dark Superstition”, Out May 17th

GATECREEPER’s Dark Superstition is leading a new wave of American death metal.

Their sprawling third full-length, and label debut for Nuclear Blast, is more concise, melodic, and memorable than anything they’ve ever done. It’s a pivotal moment which sees vocalist Chase H. Mason, guitarists Eric Wagner and Israel Garza, drummer Metal Matt Arrebollo and bassist Alex Brown—carving out their own path.

Dark Superstition deals with the supernatural, divination, fear of the unknown, and trust in magic or chance. “Many of the songs incorporate supernatural ideas with my own experiences,” Mason says. “But the title itself is a reference to the Superstition Mountains in our home state of Arizona. It’s a beautiful mountain range surrounded by tragedy and legends of hidden fortune.”

The album’s intricate lead single ‘The Black Curtain‘ leans heavily in a rock direction, and embodies Dark Superstition’s themes with a tale of divination. “It’s about being trapped between living and dying,” Mason tells. “A soul trapped in purgatory begging to be brought back by a supernatural force.” ‘The Black Curtain‘ is available today alongside a video directed by Max Moore, watch it below.

Dark Superstition moves swiftly from one brutal soundscape to the next, each sonic structure evoking its own emotion and landscape. To help perfect their game this round, GATECREEPER joined forces with drummer / songwriter Fred Estby, of Swedish death metal titans DISMEMBER, whose influences can be heard throughout the album. Dark Superstition was recorded at God City Studios in Salem, MA with CONVERGE guitarist Kurt Ballou, who also mixed the album.

The album sees its release May 17 via Nuclear Blast Records. GATECREEPER set out on a Southeast Asian tour which covers Japan, Thailand, Vietnam , Australia, New Zealand and more. Hot on the heels of its latest full-length album, “El cosmos me observa en silencio”, Spanish death-doom metal entity ORNAMENTOS DEL MIEDO spews forth “Escapando a Través de la Tierra”, a six-track concatenation of abysmal atmospheres.

The album will be released on March 15th 2024 via Meuse Music Records and Tragedy Productions.

ORNAMENTOS DEL MIEDO is a death-doom metal project created in 2017 in Burgos (Spain).

The project was born from the ashes of Graveyard of Souls by the hand of Angel Chicote and has always had an atmospheric base as a sign of identity, accompanied by guitars that move between melancholy and despair, navigating over extremely slow rhythms. All this sprinkled with lyrics that revolve around the philosophy, the human condition, trying to see life without veils.

“Escapando a Través de la Tierra”, is ORNAMENTOS DEL MIEDO‘s fifth full-length album, consisting of 6 tracks.
As in the previous works, atmosphere, melancholy and heaviness dominate every corner of this album. The lyrics talk about interest disguised as friendship, mental illness, forgotten memories. Here there are no more demons, monsters or fantastic beings than those that life gives us.

MARK DALY Releases Official Music Video for Latest Single ‘I Wanna Be More’

Mark Daly has released the music video for his single, “I Wanna Be More.” The infectious song is the debut track from Daly’s upcoming album Devil’s Arms – due for release this spring via One Opportunity Records – and was a crowd favorite on his recent tour as direct support for the rock supergroup Mr. Big. The video was directed by Tom Flynn.

“In the ‘I Wanna Be More’ video we wanted to capture the high energy we bring to this song when we play it live. We shot the video on Long Island, New York. It was directed by the incredibly talented Tom Flynn. Tom translated our energy to video perfectly. When you combine a big empty room with a full-band set-up, a couple of beers, a smoke machine, and a projector with some cool effects, you get the perfect performance music video. We can’t wait for everyone to see the results!” says Daly of the video.

He continues, “’I Wanna Be More’ is an incredibly important song to me, and its release comes at the perfect time. My songwriting has matured a lot over the last few years – I’ve tapped into a much more honest approach, I’m writing from the heart, and I think the raw emotion that so many people can relate to is even more pronounced. This is the first song we’re releasing that was recorded with Brian Virtue, and it takes everything we’ve done before to the next level. To be able to preview it on the road with Mr. Big was a remarkable experience, and being able to release it to the world is even more surreal. I couldn’t be prouder of this song, and everything it represents.”

Devil’s Arms is produced by Brian Virtue, best known for his work with Audioslave, Jane’s Addiction, 30 Seconds to Mars, and Deftones, and includes a duet with Dead Sara frontwoman Emily Armstrong.

Devil’s Arms is the follow-up to the maxi-single Drop Dead, which came on the heels of his debut solo EP Nothing to Lose. Daly’s music is gritty, raw and energetic. His post-grunge and classic rock influences combine to create his dynamic signature modern-rock sound.

Mark Daly launched a three-week U.S. tour in January as direct support of Mr. Big. The Irish rocker supported the band throughout the Midwest and Northeast, while also headlining his own shows, including a marquee performance on February 8, at the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY.

Hailing from Cork, Ireland, Daly is no newcomer to American soil, having completed numerous domestic tours with heavyweights including Candlebox, Queensrÿche, and Queensrÿche’s former frontman, Geoff Tate. His current run kicked off Thursday, January 25, with a headlining show at Belle and the Bear, in Cincinnati, OH, and is highlighted by his West Point show, and a New York City performance with Mr. Big on February 6 at Sony Hall.

“As a rock musician from Ireland, it feels surreal to me to be on another incredible tour in the USA,” says Daly. “It blows my mind that I am not only the special guest of a band I grew up listening to – Mr. Big – but we also have our own headline shows in America for the first time. This really is a dream come true.”

Mark was first discovered while performing in his band The Voodoos in Spain. During one of their shows, music manager Brian Message (Radiohead, Nick Cave) was in the crowd and requested that Mark play some original songs. Brian decided to bring the band to London to record their first EP. It was in this defining moment that Mark decided to become a full-time musician and never looked back.

One early highlight in Mark’s career was performing at the MTV EMA Awards with The Voodoos after beating out 10,000+ bands from Europe for the slot. From there, Mark and the band began to tour throughout Europe and the USA. Mark’s first venture as a solo artist hit N0. 1 on the Scottish New Music Charts. Inspired by his son, Noah, the track “Your World” was written for an autism awareness charity.

“I absolutely love everything about being on the road – meeting so many incredible people each night, getting lost in the music on stage. It’s pure magic,” says Daly.

On “The Death of Everything”, Severe Torture forebode all the gory details of their upcoming sixth album. Torn from the Jaws of Death comes extracted from the hellish depths of Torture Compound Studios, where it was sharpened by the tormented production team of Damiën Kerpentier and Mendel bij de Leij.

The band flash an array of rusty torture devices on their new single. The drums are surgical in their pinging and pounding. Whether they’re slicing or dicing, the riffs could grind through bone. Lyrically, the song warns that death comes for all of us, no matter their perceived place in heaven. “They preach their gospel, but the darkness has the upper hand”, Dennis Scheurs growls, as if devouring all hope.

“We are very proud to share the first single of our upcoming sixth album, Torn from the Jaws of Death“, says Severe Torture. “‘The Death of Everything’ was the last song we wrote for the album and turned out to be the opening track. It’s an aggressive whirlwind of riffs that’ll take you on a brutal journey and leave you gasping for air after 4 minutes.”

FLOODFALL Sign with Wormholedeath for Reissue of Album “Unbroken”, Out April 19th

Wormholedeath Records is excited to announce that the US heavy metal sensation, Floodfall, has joined forces with the label. This partnership will see the reissue of their album “Unbroken”, scheduled for re-release on April 19, 2024.

Floodfall, formed in Bozeman, Montana, initially included David Hearst, Jake Schreuder, and drummer Hunter Hessian. They recorded their debut album in Gothenburg, Sweden with producer Jakob Herrmann. After some changes, David, now in Portland, Oregon, teamed up with Zane Hearst on drums to record their second album, “Unbroken”, in both Portland and Gothenburg. Floodfall’s music, characterized by vocal harmony and structured songwriting, draws from various styles of heavy music. They value the integration of music, graphics, and video, acknowledging Jakob’s contributions as a co-songwriter and producer, Gustavo Sazes’ artwork, and Ryan Erlandsen’s video work.

“Unbroken”: An Ode to the Human Spirit

“Unbroken” is about the ebb and flow of human existence. It was recorded over many months and miles, demonstrating the perseverance and positive energy that can be found in times of great difficulty. The songs celebrate the close-knit relationships formed between the band and its creative collaborators as they navigated life before, during, and after the shock of a worldwide pandemic. Driving, hard-hitting, and heavy with melodic, memorable hooks. Inspired and influenced by Queen, Eclipse, Charon, and Billy Talent.
