Swedish LEACH Release Final Album Single + Lyric Video ‘Slice Of Life’

The northern parts of Europe are living on their own – sometimes weird, when seen from the outsider’s perspective – cycle of light and dark. And this is particularly true for the Scandinavian people.
Torn between the never setting sun on one hand and the demons of a seemingly endless darkness on the other, it’s no wonder that they could develop the plethora of myths, legends, and fairy tales that they are known for. It’s a rich heritage that didn’t die with the advent of electricity and the lightbulb either, as a legion of electric guitars, belligerent drums and captivating voices or, briefly put, heavy metal has kept it, rekindled it, and also drawn from it.

One result of all that is the incredible Scandi sense for coming up with all sorts of hymns, no matter the actual genre.

And just as the creations of mythology have been for many centuries, metal is here to heal, to drive our demons out, and make us forget all about them for a moment. “Wanna shake off what’s eating away at you today? Be our guest,” says Swedish mosh battalion LEACH: “Come on, cut through your darkness and unpack that precious Slice Of Life!”

See? That wasn’t so bad was it? It should be gone now, that nerve-wracking itch in the rear of your head. That sense of unfulfillment, of missing out on something without ever catching a glimpse of what that might actually be. Should it ever come back, you’re not alone with this, mind you: “I hate that feeling, it’s like having a shadow that’s cast by a light you never see”, LEACH singer and guitarist Markus tries to grasp it, when he talks about the meaning behind the band’s brand new lyric video and single Slice Of Life. “But that’s nothing that a punkish, straight-forward four-beat-rock blended with an overall metal crush couldn’t heal, right?” – Right! Now back to it, and sing along this time!

Slice Of Life is the third and final single from LEACH’s fourth album New Model Of Disbelief, which will be released digitally and as CD and LP on April 19, 2024. Christian Silver at Studiomega (Sepultura, Kreator, Soilwork), who already took great care of the band’s previous record Lovely Light of Life, acted as the driving force in terms of recording, mixing and mastering once again.

Make sure to pre-save the new record here: https://orcd.co/leach and don’t forget to toss the latest singles Gone To Waste (https://orcd.co/gonetowaste) and All Rise (https://orcd.co/leachallrise) on the playlist(s) of your choice.

About LEACH

AlbumcoverWith three full length releases and one EP already under their belts, the Swedish Death’N’Rollers have certainly established LEACH in the Scandi music scene. They’ve redefined the internationally cherished Swedish sound by merging elements of the iconic Gothenburg scene with that special aggressiveness of northern hardcore, while mixing in a good measure of old-school Stockholm death. Defining attributes of their work are electrifying and exciting smash songs with groovy twists – picture a blood-thirsty, melody-hungry bastard child of Entombed and Exodus, two of the band’s biggest, long-lasting influences.

This gang – Markus Wikander on vocals and guitars, Robert Karlsson on guitars, Anders Nordlander (as well as his successor Tobias Oja) on bass and Joachim Dahlström on drums – knows exactly how to work their blend of styles, and many of the most relevant playlist editors around the world have proven them right numerous times over the years. The vocals bite, the riffs burst to mosh and the melodies open up to passionate, huge life questions. The tense thematic run between revolution, social injustice and inner struggles in the band’s lyrics offers a superbly dynamic pressure vent for piled up emotions of all sorts.

And the Swedes aren’t a slouch in the touring department either: Through their wide-ranging live history, LEACH have shared the stage with prominent bands, such as Unearth, Misery Index, Belphegor and Kampfar. Over the recent years, this caused the gathering of an enthusiastic following around the band, as they describe by example of a typical LEACH live experience: “Over the top energy – the crowd can feel that we give it all and give us energy back.” Touring preparations for 2024 have long begun and first Swedish shows as well as a few festival gigs have already been booked.

Pakistan’s AZAAB Announce Canadian Tour in May with New Lineup

Azaab, the Islamabad-based death metal act, is thrilled to announce their upcoming Canadian tour in May 2024. The tour comes in the wake of significant lineup changes within the band, presenting a fresh chapter for Azaab.

Following the departure of their original vocalist, who moved to Saudi Arabia for work, and their bassist preparing for relocation, Azaab faced the challenge of finding new members in the midst of a serious shortage of death metal musicians in Pakistan. Fortunately, through a connection from a common friend, the band discovered Hassan Munir, a talented vocalist, and Sid, a skilled bassist, both based in Toronto, Canada. The introduction marked the beginning of a new era for Azaab. They share their excitement for the upcoming tour:

“After much planning and anticipation, we’re excited to announce that we will be hitting the road across Canada this May! Canada seemed like the obvious choice for our first tour since 2 out of 4 band members are based in Canada. Tyson Blaste (Plague. Becomes Astral, ex-Grindmother, ex-TheApex) is filling in on drums for this tour which makes it 3/5. I think it’s safe to say that the Azaab HQ has moved from Islamabad to Ontario. Other than that Canada has an amazing metal scene and we couldn’t be happier with playing live there.”

Azaab‘s latest album “Summoning The Cataclysm” released in 2022 on Satanath Records (Georgia), Maxima Music Pro (Indonesia), and on cassette from Tikoes Kecemploeng Prods (Indonesia) features guests Bobby Koelble (Death), Phil Tougas (First Fragment), Nick Mkhl (Sic Semper Tyrannis, Kepler, Brutal-Sphere) and Aissam El Hassani (Vile Utopia).

Showcasing their distinctive style that straddles the boundaries between old school and technical, melodic, and brutal, the album’s lyrical themes cover a wide range of topics, including horror, politics, human nature, the end of days, war, and sci-fi. Those with an interest in Morbid Angel, Vader, and Death should definitely plan to make one of their tour dates (listed below).

Hailing from Gothenburg, iconic melodic death metal pioneers, Dark Tranquillity, are thrilled to ring in a new chapter of their musical journey: The band has finished their 13th studio album, “Endtime Signals”, to be released on August 16th.

In addition, the band provides a sneak peek into the album’s thematic depth with the release of the first single “The Last Imagination”, which offers a first glimpse into the profound journey through the existential depth that is “Endtime Signals”.

Listen to “The Last Imagination” here: https://darktranquillity.lnk.to/EndtimeSignalsNe

Notably, “Endtime Signals” not only marks the 13th studio album of the band, but also their 10th album collaboration with Century Media Records. Building on the success of previous releases such as “Atoma” (2016), which climbed up to #2 in the Swedish album charts, and “Moment” (2020), which earned the band a Swedish Grammis award, the band is set to continue to redefine and deliver a top-tier musical experience with Endtime Signals.

The band shares about the album: “Welcome to the world of Dark Tranquillity once again. It’s been a while since “Moment” and we’ve gone through quite a lot in order to end up where we find ourselves today. But as we can reveal the first single from the upcoming ‘Endtime Signals’ the feeling is that of pride, accomplishment and a fair bit of relief. ‘The Last Imagination’ showcases one of many facets of what we feel is our most diverse album to date.

Going back to what we fundamentally feel is the core of Dark Tranquillity, with a partly new line-up, has been a tremendous experience. It gave us the opportunity to re-evaluate and view what we have built from a new and exciting perspective. This resulted in a focused and intense writing period where we have discovered aspects of our music anew and taken certain elements of it further than before.

Joakim Strandberg Nilson has delivered above and beyond in terms of drumming with Christian Jansson following through in fierce and precise fashion. This has driven the writing and recording process to feel challenging, different and inspiring in the best way possible. Thematically the album deals with where we are heading, what has truly and fundamentally changed in us and how we find ways to cope with it. It has been hard finding that spark of positivity lately and there is a sense of grief running through the course of the album. Not only in the sense of mourning what we have lost on a personal level but also where our sacrifices have taken us.

‘The Last Imagination’ in particular takes this to its logical conclusion and talks of what we leave behind and how hard it is for us to grasp that our significance might not be what we imagined. The breadth of the album is something we have worked hard at and we believe that this first song gives an indication if not a full picture of what is in store. There is ferocious speed, grinding brutality and haunting melodies of devastating loss to come. This is us making good on our promise to ourselves and our continuing mission.”

Stay tuned for more information!

The first single “The Last Imagination” stands as a beacon of Dark Tranquillity’s unparalleled artistry: The band delves into the depths of the human experience and reflects on the impermanence of life, with a profound lyrical narrative and captivating melodies. This single challenges listeners to confront the finality of their stories, unheard and untold.

Accompanying the release, Niklas Sundin, former guitarist and longstanding collaborator of the band, has crafted captivating visual elements, including the visualizer for “The Last Imagination”. The album release date, August 16th, was strategically chosen: It is no coincidence that the album reveal collides with the infamous Summer Breeze Open Air in Dinkelsbühl, Germany and Dark Tranquillity’s performance at the festival.

As a special celebration for the reveal of their new album, the band will give a burning live performance, playing and partying into the release of “Endtime Signals” live on stage.

GHØSTKID Release ‘Murder’ Single Ft. Code:Pandorum, New Album “Hollywood Suicide” Out March 22nd

“The biggest problem that art has nowadays is that it doesn’t hurt anymore,” says GHØSTKID vocalist and agent provocateur Sebastian “Sushi” Biesler. “Especially here in Germany, people are so afraid to push boundaries. To make art that makes you think and feel.”

As fall 2021 unfolded and the global shutdown appeared to recede, Sushi refused to allow his creative drive to stagnate within the confines of his German home. “Even though we had made it through Covid, I was missing being able to play live, to really function as a band,” says Sushi. “It didn’t feel real to me. I became distanced from the music.”

Embarking on a six-week journey to Los Angeles, he found the fuel to propel GHØSTKID forward. Amidst the remnants of Hollywood’s past allure – its fading glamour, lingering decadence, and the vibrant pulse of creativity saturating the city – Sushi discovered the catalyst for “HOLLYWOOD SUICIDE”, drawing inspiration from a “don’t-look-before-you-leap” ethos.

The resulting album serves as a candid snapshot of an artist in search of self-discovery, navigating through personal turmoil amidst the mythic landscape of California. “That’s why ’HOLLYWOOD SUICIDE’ is the first track. If you really want to make it, you have to give a lot. You have to be willing to give up everything. It’s kind of like suicide to the person that you’ve been when you become an artist.”

Complementing the music is the intricate artwork, meticulously crafted by Aly Wayne Gacy, adding a visual dimension to GHØSTKID’s sonic narrative.

“MURDER” feat. Code:Pandorum was released last Wednesday and is the newest single from GHØSTKID’s upcoming album, “HOLLYWOOD SUICIDE” out March 22nd.
