Get ready to rock as the dynamic band Stripping the Pistol drops their debut single, “Black Reflections,” today alongside the release of the highly anticipated movie, “The Throwback”!

STREAM “Black Reflections” at https://ffm.to/stp-blackreflections

“’Black Reflections’: violence, manipulation, and getting dragged into someone else’s chaos leaving us to fight an internal battle in our heads. All the while leaving our soul and what makes us happy in the darkness,” says Kevin Cherello, one of the band’s vocalist.

Known for their electrifying sound and raw energy, Stripping the Pistol doesn’t disappoint with “Black Reflections.” The song’s pulsating rhythm and intense lyrics perfectly complement the cinematic experience of “The Throwback,” creating a seamless fusion of music and visuals.

This band is about straight-in-your-face rock n’ roll. Stripping the Pistol formed with the intention of breaking the rules. The Chicago band blends aggression with melody. The seamless interplay of the dueling vocalists is balanced by the precision, power, and energy of the music.

“The Throwback,” written, directed and produced by Mario Garcia along with producer Michael Alfier, is a film about a married couple who are thrown into a crisis when the wife, an under-appreciated and stressed “supermom,” suffers a post-traumatic breakdown causing her to regress to her college-age, party-girl self.

Swedish blackened death metal masters NECROPHOBIC are pleased to finally share their tenth studio album, which officially hits the streets and streaming services everywhere today, March 15, via Century Media Records!

To celebrate this release, NECROPHOBIC is now sharing a brand new music video for the single “Mirrors of a Thousand Lakes.” The footage was taken from one of the band’s rare club shows at M.A.U. Club in Germany back in January 2024 by Paloosa Productions. The performance had such a positive impact on the band that they decided to preserve it and turn it into a “road video” that happened in the magic of the moment that evening. Watch it at THIS LOCATION.

‘In the Twilight Grey’ is now available HERE

The artwork for ‘In The Twilight Grey’ was created by Jens Rydén.

‘In The Twilight Grey’ Tracklisting:

  1. Grace of the Past [LISTEN]
  2. Clavis Inferni
  3. As Stars Collide [WATCH]
  4. Stormcrow [WATCH]
  5. Shadows of the Brightest Night
  6. Mirrors of a Thousand Lakes [WATCH]
  7. Cast in Stone
  8. Nordanvind
  9. In the Twilight Grey
  10. Ascension (Episode Four)

Enigmatically titled ‘In the Twilight Grey,’ NECROPHOBIC’s tenth studio album immediately asserts its separation from everything that has gone before. Colder and more biting than recent efforts, the album is full of brutish metal songs, hewn from unnamed obsidian horrors.

NECROPHOBIC has always been a dynamic and daring band. ‘In the Twilight Grey’ hammers the Swedish blackened death metal masters’ boldness home via some of the most hard-hitting and direct songs they have ever recorded. Equally, the new album is home to several songs that push NECROPHOBIC’s music down strange, new avenues. Fueled by the dark side, lead guitarist Sebastian Ramstedt understands the importance of retaining the essence of the band’s early days, even as the means of expression continues to evolve.

Yet again ‘In the Twilight Grey’ was produced, mixed and mastered by Fredrik Folkare (of death metal icons Unleashed) at Chrome Studios, Stockholm and engineered in close collaboration by Folkare and the band themselves. For the artwork they teamed up with Jens Rydén, another likeminded and highly regarded institution from the Swedish metal scene.

With over thirty years of active, nefarious service under their spikes and bulletbelts, NECROPHOBIC are undisputed legends of the death and black metal scene. Formed in 1989 by drummer Joakim Sterner, the Stockholm blackhearts propagated a singular and fearless vision from the very start.

Eschewing the self-conscious amateurism and primitive sonics that many of their peers held dear, NECROPHOBIC established a bold and vivid identity of their own, conjuring a densely melodic, but endlessly wicked take on macabre extreme metal that countless lesser bands have since emulated.

You can take a deep dive into their history via the rereleases of their entire back catalogue that Century Media Records made available in 2022 HERE.

Line-Up:
Johan Bergebäck – Rhythm guitar
Joakim Sterner – Drums
Sebastian Ramstedt – Lead guitar
Anders Strokirk – Vocals
Tobias Cristiansson – Bass

When the leaves fall and the wind blows through the streets of Berlin, it’s time for HERBST [engl. Autumn]. The German rock and metal upstarts have dedicated themselves to the rough and dark sound that breaks through the music scene like a storm. With heavy riffs and gripping beats they hit the Zeitgeist – intense and unmistakably melodic!

The four-piece featuring Oliver Weckert – with his distinctively melodic voice -, Mark Rötz on bass/backing vocals, Steffen Böhm on drums and Niels Gebhardt on guitar, stands for music that gets under your skin. Although their lyrics come in German, they try to reflect life in an unvarnished way that leave no listener untouched. Authenticity isn’t an empty promise here – it’s the foundation of every HERBST note.

Now, the band has signed a worldwide record deal with Drakkar Entertainment, who are proud to release the band’s sophomore studio album in 2024!

“We are stoked and proud to announce, that we have signed a deal with the legendary record label Drakkar Entertainment!” HERBST comment. “It’s an absolute dream come true to be working with such a prestigious institution with numerous rock and metal greats on their eclectic roster,
and we can’t wait to present our music to a bigger audience soon.

We would like to thank our fans for their great support and belief in us, and promise that we will continue to work with full dedication on new material to transport it into people’s minds and hearts. This is just the beginning of an exciting journey that lies ahead of us (all). Rock on!”

In support of a new album, with many more details to follow soon, HERBST have just premiered a music video for their single “Nie Wieder” [engl. “Never Again”]. The song is out now on all digital streaming services via https://herbst.bfan.link/nie-wieder, watch the clip streaming here:

““Nie Wieder” was the first song of the recording session for our forthcoming, second album and contains a tough topic: parents abandoning their children.” The band reveals. “That they close themselves off and become unemotional. When the lyrics read “What I carry inside me remains buried forever.” The dark sound captures this mood of this track perfectly.”

With their much-acclaimed debut album, “Ein letzter Abend” [engl. “A last evening”], the band quickly took the German rock scene by storm, now, it’s time for a next chapter in HERBST‘s uprising career! Watch out for many more news and tunes to follow soon!

TORE ØSTBY (from CONCEPTION + ARK) Launches Solo Works with ‘Snowflakes’ Single

The highly acclaimed guitar player from bands Conception and ARK is launching his solo instrumental works with the majestic piece ”Snowflake”, available on all streaming platforms since March 15th.

Tore Østby lets you follow the tiny, shivering snowflake, caught in the winter wind, thrown around in a raging storm to finally land and be the final force to cause an avalanche. Dramatic turns where the music follows the little snowflake, delivering everything from big brush strokes to serene guitar melodies, a piece that will leave no one untouched.

The release is following a sneak release of the acoustic work ”Premonition”, inspired by nordic traditional music.

At the same time he is rehearsing with Conception for upcoming shows in Spain and Latin America, Østby is following a long time plan of releasing instrumental music. He is known for mixing genres and finding inspiration in different cultures.

On the subject of solo composing Østby says: ”- I have always felt an urge to explore this road, and often the music takes me by surprise. It is in no way in competition with what I do with Conception, in fact it’s more the opposite; creativity feeds creativity, and I am still curious!”

He continues: -” I will play different instruments but will mostly base the compositions around guitars. There will be calm guitars, brutal guitars, soaring guitars, orchestral guitars, Spanish guitars and more.”

Taking influences from a multitude of bands such as Five Finger Death Punch, Killswitch Engage, Tool, Machine head and Iron Maiden, The Black Hounds have developed a sound and style that cannot be easily categorised.

Think songs layered with riff upon riff, hook after hook and a groove laden rhythm section stomping its way through each track. The first track to ever be written by The Black Hounds was Clarity and from the start the groove that gives The Black hounds their edge became apparent. It is a theme that has occurred time and time again throughout subsequent tracks.

LEE AARON Release New Single + Video ‘Tattoo’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on March 17, 2024
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: Lee Aaron. Leave a comment

With “Tattoo” Lee Aaron releases the first single taken from her forthcoming new studio album “Tatttoo Me” (Metalville Records – street date April 26).

Lee says about “Tattoo”:  I’ve always thought songs are like tattoos. Tattoos are permanent on the skin but songs are permanent on the soul. When I heard this tune (by the 77s) about a decade ago, I knew I wanted to record it one day. It had a gritty, Stonesy, glam-rock vibe and I loved the sentiment: Tattoo me on YOU. Over the years, I’ve had many fans get tattoos of my signature and that’s about the highest compliment they could ever give me besides loving the music too.”

“Songs are like tattoos” – the famous first line of Joni Mitchell’s Blue – is a sentiment that has always resonated deeply for Canadian rocker Lee Aaron.

18 Albums into her career, Aaron has written, recorded and produced music achieving gold and multi-platinum sales. Recognized as one of Canada’s top rock vocalists she’s also made forays into jazz, blues, and even opera, receiving numerous awards and accolades and most recently, a 2023 induction into Canada’s Walk of Fame.

“The one thing I’d never done was a full covers album,” says Aaron. “It seemed like a really cool and super fun project to tackle at this point…”

Taking a nostalgic journey, Tattoo Me pays homage to musical trailblazers who helped shape her own artistic path. As a reflection of her eclectic taste, yet in keeping with a profound respect for the greats, these 11 dynamic tracks are a unique tapestry of influences that transcend era and genre.

“It started out as a heartfelt nod to artists we’d been influenced by in our youth, but the truth is, we didn’t stop being influenced or being fans at 18, so the list kept evolving. It covers a few decades and a few unconventional choices, but it was incredibly rewarding to make!” she states.

Each track is a labor of love, infused with Aaron and her band’s signature rock ’n’ roll swagger, yet in keeping with a sense of reverence for the originals.

The album was produced by Aaron in her Vancouver studio and mixed by multi-media genius Frank Gryner (Rob Zombie, L7, Def Leppard, Larkin Poe, Ian Hunter and more).

“One of the positive things that came out of the pandemic was that we all upgraded our home studios and got very good at engineering and recording ourselves. No one was under the pressure of a studio clock, so the performances are as genuine as they’re gonna get.”

From the sizzling blues-rock of 1960’s Nina Simone’s “The Pusher,” to the rebellious energy of 1972 Alice Cooper’s “Is it My Body,” Aaron growls, purrs, whispers and wails, sounding like she’s having an absolute blast infusing these songs with her own fiery spirit. Her voice is as versatile and powerful as ever.

Standout tracks include a rendition of Led Zeppelin’s “What is and What Should Never Be,” Heart’s “Even it Up” and Hole’s “Malibu.” Stellar performances by Aaron’s long-term band: Sean Kelly (guitar), Dave Reimer (bass) and John Cody (drums) effortlessly channel these ’70s and 80’s rock giants and seem to capture the original magic of each of the tunes.

Another gem is Aaron’s take on Elton John’s “Someone Saved My Life Tonight.” Kelly’s gorgeous acoustic guitars create the soundscape, then strings and lush harmonies support her stirring vocal performance. The tribute is passionate and heart-felt. She reflects, “I spent hours and hours laying on my basement floor with headphones listening to “Someone Saved My Life Tonight” on repeat. I desperately wanted someone to save me from my boring life when I was a teenager…music ended up being that for me.”

The album also takes some unexpected turns, with delightful interpretations of songs from a diverse range of artists, including late 90’s Brit-Pop band Elastica, California’s 77’s and the Undertones. Each track echoes the vibe of the era while seamlessly fitting into the lineage of Aaron’s own storied career.

Tattoo Me is a sonic time capsule, bridging the decades. Once again, cementing her status as a rock ’n’ roll chameleon, Aaron blends the old and the new, proving not only that the transcendent power of music never stops, but that she herself isn’t ready to anytime soon.
