After igniting the scene in January 2024 with their electrifying single “Agent Mayhem,” indie punk quintet HIPPIE TRIM is set to announce their new EP, “Morbid Orbit.” Scheduled for release digitally and on limited vinyl via Supervillain on May 31st, the EP promises to be a compelling addition to their discography.

With the release of “Falling Down,” the band offers another high-octane track that delves into the existential struggle against time and societal conformity. Commenting on the track, HIPPIE TRIM remarked, “‘Falling Down’ encapsulates the relentless battle against the passage of time and the societal pressures to conform.”

Renowned for their distinctive sound, HIPPIE TRIM enlisted the expertise of Jon Markson (DRUG CHURCH, DRAIN, SOUL BLIND) and Adam Chichoki (CASEY, KOYO, LIKE PACIFIC) for mixing and mastering, continuing a successful collaboration that began with their 2022 studio album, “What Consumes Me.”

GUENNA Launch Final Single ‘Dimension X’ from Debut Album

Swedish progressive stoner rock outfit GUENNA release “Dimension X”. Available now on all streaming platforms, this track is the final single leading up to the bands’ debut album “Peak of Jin’Arrah”, set for release on The Sign Records on April 19, 2024.

The band comments:
“The days before the earth faced its ultimate annihilation, the inhabitants of the globe were plagued by visions of cosmic destruction and death. But also hope. A way out. A way up. Another means for the citizens of earth to survive, rebuild and prosper. Bending space and time to pass through a dimension thought to exist only in myth, the people came out the other end and knew that the legend was real, the human race would live on, and that it was time to find a new heritage.”

Stream the single

Guenna are four guys who met when they studied music together in 2018/2019. After they all realized they miss cranking their amps and smashing the drumheads with raw power, Robert suggested starting a stoner band! While Robert were newly in love with stoner rock, his and Albin’s top three list of bands both included AC/DC and Black Sabbath, while Viktor and Oskar don’t even have a top list of bands, but some of their mutual favorite bands include Rush, and Crosby, Stills & Nash. The result of their creativity and widely mixed influences became, to quote Nick Oliveri (Kyuss, QOTSA): “Guenna sound like if YES played heavy stoner music, with all the harmonies and stuff. And I mean the good part of YES! It’s fucking rad!”. Others say “Progressive Stoner Rock”.

While none of the members originally are from Malmö, Guenna is now based in Malmö, Sweden, the best geographically place in the country to connect with Europe. Guenna is ready to go intercontinental to share their art!

Only a couple of months after the band was formed in the fall of 2019, the debut EP “Guenna” was released in March 2020. In November of 2021, “Bongsai” was released via “Eat Heavy Records”, on the compilation vinyl “Eating The Swedish Underground vol. 1” consisting of Metalpodden’s selection of the eight best unsigned Swedish bands.

Guenna:
Robert Mattsson – Drums, Vocals
Oskar Johnsson – Bass, Vocals
Viktor Tjernell – Guitar, Vocals
Albin Gustafsson – Guitar, Backing Vocals

Get ready to rock as the dynamic band Stripping the Pistol drops their debut single, “Black Reflections,” today alongside the release of the highly anticipated movie, “The Throwback”!

STREAM “Black Reflections” at https://ffm.to/stp-blackreflections

“’Black Reflections’: violence, manipulation, and getting dragged into someone else’s chaos leaving us to fight an internal battle in our heads. All the while leaving our soul and what makes us happy in the darkness,” says Kevin Cherello, one of the band’s vocalist.

Known for their electrifying sound and raw energy, Stripping the Pistol doesn’t disappoint with “Black Reflections.” The song’s pulsating rhythm and intense lyrics perfectly complement the cinematic experience of “The Throwback,” creating a seamless fusion of music and visuals.

This band is about straight-in-your-face rock n’ roll. Stripping the Pistol formed with the intention of breaking the rules. The Chicago band blends aggression with melody. The seamless interplay of the dueling vocalists is balanced by the precision, power, and energy of the music.

“The Throwback,” written, directed and produced by Mario Garcia along with producer Michael Alfier, is a film about a married couple who are thrown into a crisis when the wife, an under-appreciated and stressed “supermom,” suffers a post-traumatic breakdown causing her to regress to her college-age, party-girl self.

NECROPHOBIC Share New Music Video for ‘Mirrors of a Thousand Lakes’, New Album Out Now

Swedish blackened death metal masters NECROPHOBIC are pleased to finally share their tenth studio album, which officially hits the streets and streaming services everywhere today, March 15, via Century Media Records!

To celebrate this release, NECROPHOBIC is now sharing a brand new music video for the single “Mirrors of a Thousand Lakes.” The footage was taken from one of the band’s rare club shows at M.A.U. Club in Germany back in January 2024 by Paloosa Productions. The performance had such a positive impact on the band that they decided to preserve it and turn it into a “road video” that happened in the magic of the moment that evening. Watch it at THIS LOCATION.

‘In the Twilight Grey’ is now available HERE

The artwork for ‘In The Twilight Grey’ was created by Jens Rydén.

‘In The Twilight Grey’ Tracklisting:

  1. Grace of the Past [LISTEN]
  2. Clavis Inferni
  3. As Stars Collide [WATCH]
  4. Stormcrow [WATCH]
  5. Shadows of the Brightest Night
  6. Mirrors of a Thousand Lakes [WATCH]
  7. Cast in Stone
  8. Nordanvind
  9. In the Twilight Grey
  10. Ascension (Episode Four)

Enigmatically titled ‘In the Twilight Grey,’ NECROPHOBIC’s tenth studio album immediately asserts its separation from everything that has gone before. Colder and more biting than recent efforts, the album is full of brutish metal songs, hewn from unnamed obsidian horrors.

NECROPHOBIC has always been a dynamic and daring band. ‘In the Twilight Grey’ hammers the Swedish blackened death metal masters’ boldness home via some of the most hard-hitting and direct songs they have ever recorded. Equally, the new album is home to several songs that push NECROPHOBIC’s music down strange, new avenues. Fueled by the dark side, lead guitarist Sebastian Ramstedt understands the importance of retaining the essence of the band’s early days, even as the means of expression continues to evolve.

Yet again ‘In the Twilight Grey’ was produced, mixed and mastered by Fredrik Folkare (of death metal icons Unleashed) at Chrome Studios, Stockholm and engineered in close collaboration by Folkare and the band themselves. For the artwork they teamed up with Jens Rydén, another likeminded and highly regarded institution from the Swedish metal scene.

With over thirty years of active, nefarious service under their spikes and bulletbelts, NECROPHOBIC are undisputed legends of the death and black metal scene. Formed in 1989 by drummer Joakim Sterner, the Stockholm blackhearts propagated a singular and fearless vision from the very start.

Eschewing the self-conscious amateurism and primitive sonics that many of their peers held dear, NECROPHOBIC established a bold and vivid identity of their own, conjuring a densely melodic, but endlessly wicked take on macabre extreme metal that countless lesser bands have since emulated.

You can take a deep dive into their history via the rereleases of their entire back catalogue that Century Media Records made available in 2022 HERE.

Line-Up:
Johan Bergebäck – Rhythm guitar
Joakim Sterner – Drums
Sebastian Ramstedt – Lead guitar
Anders Strokirk – Vocals
Tobias Cristiansson – Bass

Production, Mixing, Mastering: Fredrik Folkare @ Chrome Studios
