In November 2019, Como guitarist Francesco Rasero decided to start a new musical project inspired by melodic metal and hard rock. Needless to say, the difficulties due to the 2020 pandemic also slowed down the birth of Aradia. The official lineup consists of : Stefano Cheville Perini ( vocals ) Francesco Rasero ( lead and rhythm guitar ) Marco Hellion Gilardoni ( lead and rhythm guitar ) Andrea Fumagalli ( bass guitar ) Cristian Sampietro ( drums ) Special mention : Paolo Gilardoni ( bass) who was a founder but had to leave the project due to family commitments During the first 2 years of activity despite the periods of stop already mentioned, the band cut its teeth jammando on classics by Iron Maiden, Saxon and Judas Priest ( but also Motley Crue ) and soon the need to write their own music was born.

SULPHUR AND MERCURY craft dark heavy metal dirges that summon and reimagine the sepulchral spirit of bands like Mercyful Fate and Celtic Frost. In this sense, “Alchemia Prophetica” acts as a portal into a parallel world of haunted chords and forlorn passages, where molten-melodic riffs burn and black smoke drifts into the midnight air. SULPHUR AND MERCURY‘s aural alchemy is born from this tradition: it invokes and embodies the enduring aura of the 1980s metal-mysterium, when NWOBHM bands like Satan and Venom collided and intersected with the tenebrous tones and paganistic rites of bands like Sabbat (UK) and early Cathedral. As time-travellers from 1987…SULPHUR AND MERCURY have arrived.
Born in the Cerverteri Necropolis under the blood moon of the Italian summer solstice, SULPHUR AND MERCURY forge haunted dirges of occultic heavy metal from the fires of its glorious past. Elements of Frostian apocalyptic doom are summoned and collide with the melodic instincts of the NWOBHM, manifesting caustic anthems to the arcane arts.
The group came together in 2021, when guitarist Francesco Conte and vocalist Jason Netherton bonded over their shared affinity for the darker incantations of 1980s heavy metal, along the lines of Mercyful Fate, Celtic Frost, Satan and Sabbat (UK). The pair were later joined by drummer Dario Casabona and bassist Marco Mastrobuono, after which they commenced to songwriting and then recording in 2022. Like soothsayers channelling the spirit of ‘87 (a year pivotal for both Conte and Netherton in their metal edification), the band explicitly invoke the ghosts of metal’s past, in order to hammer it into a distinctly modern vision.
The outcome is the 6 track EP “Alchemia Prophetica”. Featuring 4 original songs and a cover of Satan‘s demo-era anthem “Heads Will Roll”, the EP stands as an ode to the glory of heavy metal’s yesteryear in the form of haunting anthems to the unknown and otherworldly.

The seventh album by Gory Blister is entitled Reborn from Hatred. The brutally-technical full-length release contains eleven masterful songs, with artwork by Augusto Peixoto of Iron Doom Design. It was Produced by Raff Sangiorgio and Gianluca D’andria, mixed by Ricardo Borges (Sepultura, Kreator, Carcass) at Fascination Street Studio, and mastered by Peter Brussee (Steve Vai, Yingwie Malmsteen) at Q Point Studio, and it is available everywhere now. The music on the album screams for us to go hard, all the way, face-first into the den of our demons so we can wear their blood on our faces like war paint. The drum licks come in hurricanes of 4/4 and mixed meter time signatures, with the bass replacing our own pounding hearts. The guitars on this record, while scorching, are patterned with such complexity, that there is a raucous intricacy to what is delivered as delicious and violent. This is personal. Gory Blister are not just playing music, but providing our soundtrack as we walk through the fire. There’s a zombie in the funhouse, and we’re going in with baseball bats. There’s a rabid jackal loose in the gift shop, and we’re going in with a net. There’s a circus clown slaughtering people in the freak tent, and we’re going in with machetes, broadswords, and Mineral Mountain Battle Hatchets. The band never tells us to play nice, and like a muse inspires artists to create, Gory Blister shows us the way retool the darkness.
American progressive/heavy metal adepts HALCYON WAY will return with a three track digital EP titled “Night Crawling”, set for release on May 31st via Agonia Records. The EP features two brand new compositions and a cover of Miley Cyrus’s song, which can be listened to, below.
“Like just about every band out there, the pandemic was a huge kick in the dick for Halcyon Way, and we had a lot of tours canceled or postponed,” comments guitarist Jon Bodan. “We had a period of serious writer’s block that we finally punched through and we’re hard at work on a new record for a 2024 release. However, we decided to have some fun recording a cover version of Night Crawling by Miley Cyrus and we decided to release an EP with that as well as 2 more tracks. So we hope you enjoy the new tunes and we will see you on the road soon!”

Songs like the opening adrenaline rushed driving track, “Wrecking Machine”, the slow burn metal rocker “Pain”, and the atmospheric “Crashed Into The Sun”, really capture the bands diversity of musical tastes and the input of the band members contributions. While songs like “Face Of GOD”, “I Will Never Break Again” and “Sometimes Love Is Hell” are all great ballad musical arrangements and really have some interesting lyrical content and visual story telling that Vocalist/Songwriter Derek Davis has written for the listener.
