Rock’s darker angels fly again. Bastion Rose released a new single called “Someday.” It is loud. It is heavy. It carries the weight of a two-million-stream catalog and the daily expectations of hundreds of thousands of monthly listeners. But those are just numbers.
To understand the sheer, triumphant energy of this track, you have to understand the silence that came before it.
“Only a few years ago, the silence was literal. Cancer,” says Bastion Rose singer and guitarist, Austin Frink. “I had recently watched my parents pass on, and I fought my own physical war not to join them. I did not sing. After surgery and treatment, I couldn’t. But hope has a way of coercing those in despair back to motion. To build. To survive. The whisper became a croak. The croak became a quiet, hoarse note. That note became a roar. Bastion Rose is the roar.”
Musically, the track is a towering achievement of progressive rock. Building on the world-class sonic blueprint established with three-time Grammy-winning producer David Bottrill (Tool, Godsmack, Mastodon, Muse) on the band’s earlier records, “Someday” pairs relentless, aggressive instrumentation with an undeniable, aspirational hook.
Where previous releases explored the grit and dirt of sheer survival, “Someday” is the breakthrough.
“It is the moment you finally stand up,” Frink explains. “You realize that you alone have the power to rebuild your reality. You are the creator of your world.”
That reality is scaling rapidly. Supported by recent acclaim from SPIN, Metal Hammer, and Classic Rock Magazine, Bastion Rose is translating massive digital leverage into a formidable real-world footprint, with their eyes already beyond their upcoming album, ‘Blue Rising,’ to their following record and international campaign of live shows.
“There is no light without the weight of the dark. Scars persist, but in fact compose the art of ourselves. We are powerful, fragile things, expanding and dissolving. How beautiful it is to build and to grow and to reach for the sky as long as we live and breathe.” – Austin Frink, Bastion Rose
Bastion Rose is a cinematic hard rock project based in Bloomington, Indiana. Known for their sophisticated fusion of monumental 70s-era grooves and 2000s era alternative metal intensity, the band has earned international recognition for their high-caliber production and narrative-driven songwriting. Following their David Bottrill-produced debut Traces of Gold, the band is currently unveiling the next chapter of their evolution with the album Blue Rising.
For the German heavy metal quintet GENERATION STEEL, the signs are literally pointing to a storm: The band has strengthened its line-up in many areas and is ready to launch a true head-banger – their third studio album, “Steelmachine.”
The previously released title track already perfectly showcased the direction they’re heading in. With new members Thilo Herrmann (guitar, ex-RUNNING WILD, ex-GRAVE DIGGER, ex-RISK) and Mike Stark (vocals, FEANOR, STORMBURNER), the band has reinvented itself. Together with Piet Sielck, who has already put his stamp on classics by GAMMA RAY,BLIND GUARDIAN, and GRAVE DIGGER, they forged nine steel-hard tracks that perfectly embody traditional heavy metal.
Today marks the release of “Witches Cross,” the second single – a dark true-metal banger accompanied by an impressive music video.
“The song ‘Witches Cross’ tells the story of the witch hunts in the Middle Ages, but it also serves as a metaphor for exclusion, fear, and blind fanaticism. Historical events here serve as a mirror to our own time, in which people are still hastily judged and publicly pilloried. The song is meant to remind us how important it is to prioritize truth, humanity, and critical thinking over prejudice,” explains band founder and guitarist Jack The Riffer.
Also starting today is the pre-sale for the “Steelmachine” album, which will be released on CD and as a limited-edition orange vinyl (plus a signed autograph card). New merchandise and bundles are also available in the band and label shops.
Anyone who loves honest, traditional German heavy metal will quickly take “Steelmachine” to their metal heart. The quintet not only transports us back to the glorious ’80s but also shows just how timeless true metal is. Nine home runs that will make every metalhead’s heart beat faster.

IN THIS MOMENT, the GRAMMY® Award-nominated, multi-platinum heavy alternative force of nature, return today with a new single and music video entitled “Crawl.” Listen HERE. Watch the music video HERE.
Most importantly, however, it heralds the arrival of their ninth full-length offering and debut LP for Better Noise Music, WITCH, on AUGUST 28. Pre-order + pre-save HERE.
“Crawl” seethes and surges in signature IN THIS MOMENT style. Anchored by a gut-punching riff and seismic vocals courtesy of inimitable frontwoman MARIA BRINK, the song sets its hooks in, holds tight, and never lets go. It’s worthy of obsessing over—like all of the group’s best material over the years.
About the track, IN THIS MOMENT, Brink offers, “‘Crawl’ is a reckoning — a reflection that those who dominate and cause pain will ultimately reap what they sow. As above, so below. The fall is inevitable. Bearing witness to the harm they inflict, the song declares that those who once stood tall will be brought to their knees.”
Co-founder and guitarist CHRIS HOWORTH furthers, “‘Crawl’ is a visceral track that delivers the undeniable observation of powerful entities dominating and abusing the weaker and compromised masses — something that continues to repeat itself throughout human history. The song empowers and, at its core, is about standing up and fighting back.”
However, it’s just the beginning. WITCH showcases every side of IN THIS MOMENT: The fury, the femininity, and the fire. It’s an 11-track opus that does not relent in intensity and introspection. However, the band didn’t go it alone. This time around, the band tapped friends Dayseeker for “I Want To Believe,”; Kim Dracula for “Heretic,”; and Kat Von D for a cover of the Pink Floyd classic “Another Brick In The Wall.”
“WITCH is my declaration of inner transformation,” states Brink. “It’s about embracing the duality within — taking pain, persecution, and struggle — and alchemizing them into strength and power. The album reflects both ancient trials and my own journey — where being a ‘witch’ means being a creator, connected to the universe, manifesting my own reality.”
The spell has been cast. Allow WITCH to possess you.
ITM teased this chapter with “Sleeping With The Enemy.” Beyond reeling in over 1 million streams, it earned critical acclaim. Rock Sound hailed it as “blistering,” and Revolver plugged its power.
Led by the magnetic presence of Brink, the band has turned its fusion of spectacle, vulnerability, and massive melodic hooks into a global phenomenon, earning platinum-certified success and more than two billion career streams along the way.
WITCH TRACK LISTING: “Shame” “I Want To Believe (Feat. Dayseeker)” “Crawl” “Into The Dark” “Sleeping With The Enemy” “Wrapped Around Your Finger” “Heretic (Feat. Kim Dracula)” “Father” “Without Me There’s No You” “Another Brick In The Wall (Feat. Kat Von D)” “Something I Can Never Have”

Since coming to life in 2005, IN THIS MOMENT have presided over a diehard fan base under the watch of “mother” figure and aforementioned Brink — joined by co-founder and lead guitarist Chris Howorth, bassist Travis Johnson, guitarist Randy Weitzel, and drummer Kent Diimmel. They have steadily emerged as one of the most influential and impactful bands of the 21st century.
To date, In This Moment has amassed over 2 Billion streams globally. In addition to the Gold-selling album, BLOOD [2012], the quintet has also garnered seven Gold and two Platinum singles, followed by a trifecta of Top 25 entries on the Billboard 200 with BLACK WIDOW [2014], and RITUAL [2017].
Between selling out headline tours coast-to-coast, the group performed in arenas and have appeared at countless festivals from Lollapalooza to Sonic Temple. They assembled their seventh full-length, the aptly titled MOTHER [2020] with longtime trusted collaborator Kevin Churko [Ozzy Osbourne, Five Finger Death Punch]. MOTHER breathed the activating mantra of an unbreakable spell, commenced on first single “The In-Between,” which received a GRAMMY® nomination in 2020 for “Best Metal Performance.”
In 2022, the band released BLOOD 1983 [BMG], a reimagined EP commemorating the ten-year anniversary of BLOOD. Then in 2023, the longtime staples of heavy music released their eighth studio album GODMODE [BMG], a 10-song record featuring the powerful lead single “The Purge,” a stunning cover of Björk’s “Army Of Me,” the collaborative track “Damaged,” which featured Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills, and “I Would Die For You,” which appeared on the soundtrack for John Wick: Chapter 4.
The next era of In This Moment will amplify everything they’ve built with this mantra: “Your voice, our flame. Set your truth on fire.”
King Kraken release their video for new single ‘I Am The Apocalypse‘, out now.
“We are excited to announce that our new single ‘I Am The Apocalypse’ is out now across all major streaming platforms. A tale of cultish mentality and a wolf in sheep’s clothing bringing about the end of times. A familiar story set in darkness and false light. Rolling with stomping slow pounding grooves laden with soaring lead guitar work. All of which compliments the guttural vocals and thunderous bass making this song unmistakably King Kraken.”
King Kraken unleash their second single of 2026 with ‘I Am The Apocalypse‘. An ominous, stomping, menace ridden track that delves deep into dark themes of false prophets, blind devotion and dangerous cult mentality. This track was written from the ground up with a monolithic chorus that will have you chanting long after the final note has faded. With a groove that hits like a truck full of sledgehammers, the trademark soaring guitar solo and dramatic pause or 2. This literally made fingers bleed in the studio. This is 100% unforgiving Kraken, heavy with light and shade, stronger than ever!
King Kraken is a four-piece Rock/Metal band from South Wales, UK. In 2025 they released their second album, ‘March of the Gods’, with two of their four singles playlisted on Planet Rock and Kerrang Radio. Positive album reviews poured in, including reviews from big hitters such as Kerrang and features in Metal Hammer magazine. With a new album and hefty praise from the rock/metal press, the band headed out on a headline tour.
The band has played Bloodstock Festival, Call of the Wild, Planet Rock’s Rockstock and Stonedead Festival. They were the first band to play the Bloodstock Winter Gathering event at KK’s Steel Mill in Wolverhampton. The band has played with some heavyweight artists including The Almighty, The Dead Daisies, Crobot, Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons, Monster Truck, The Sweet, Geoff Tate and Crowbar.
2026 is also proving to be another big year for King Kraken, with them hitting the main stage at Call Of The Wild Festival plus opening up Steelhouse Festival in July. If that wasn’t enough, they have also secured a slot at Chepstow Castle in August alongside Chris Holmes (WASP) and Tygers of Pan Tang.
With numerous events around the UK there is no sign of this train slowing down!

Finnish band VAAJA released their second single Abalon on July 17. The music video will follow on July 31. The song is an epic, atmospheric gothic metal track drawing from Finnish mythology and tied to an upcoming original VAAJA dark horror-fantasy novel series.
–Composed & lyrics by Malphas Miserable –Arranged by Malphas Miserable, Garn Eir, Fenris Fuzz, Vor, Magni –Recorded, Produced, Mixed and Mastered by Malphas Miserable –ISRC: ushm92612057 –Cover art by Malphas Miserable
The single is an explosive track, taking its name from a central character in the upcoming first book: Abalon, the elven ancestor of foxes. The lyrics delve into how Abalon steps in as a surprise ally to turn the tide for the story’s main protagonist, a vulnerable young vampire, and his human friends.
“All songs of Vaaja are designed to carry Finnish mythology with a unique horror-fantasy twist beyond Finland’s borders”, says Malphas Miserable, the lead singer, songwriter and author of VAAJA.
VAAJA is a fully realised concept. Music is the first chapter of a larger dark fantasy universe that spans both the band’s work and forthcoming novels set in the same world. The band and the books are one universe. “I carried the idea of VAAJA for many years, but it was not until 2025 that I started to write the first book. After that, everything happened very fast and effortlessly.“, Malphas Miserable explains.
Sonically, Abalon occupies the space between the emotional depth of Sleep Token, the atmospheric darkness of HIM, and the devotional, theatrical identity of Opeth and Ghost.
“We think the category of “Nordic gothic dark metal” fits us the best, but we are very flexible in a wide array of musical genres. However, with VAAJA, we don’t want to restrict ourselves too much musically. Instead, aiming to maintain a playful, even blasphemous spirit-just like the old gods. The old gods are dear to us, and we feel that Finnish mythology is one of the richest yet still most underrepresented mythologies in metal,” the band states.
“Vaaja is not Viking imagery borrowed from our neighbours. It is ours – ancient, magical, and largely unknown to the world – until now.“

Hailing from Bradford in West Yorkshire, TORANAGA wrote a chapter in metal history with their first two studio albums, “Bastard Ballads” (1988) and “God’s Gift” (1990), achieving cult status within the metal scene. Although they remained underdogs, TORANAGA can be mentioned alongside their compatriots ONSLAUGHT, XENTRIX, SABBAT and ACID REIGN with confidence. What has always set the band apart is their unique blend of thrash metal and classic NWoBHM influences, not to mention their fondness for dark, BLACK SABBATH-style riffs. Supporting acts like VENOM, MANOWAR, METAL CHURCH, ANNIHILATOR a.o., further cemented their reputation as a first-rate live act. However, after their label Chrysalis was sold to EMI, they lost their team there and missed an opportunity to tour with MOTÖRHEAD, resulting in a long hiatus.
Guitarist Andy Mitchell emigrated to Australia, while frontman Mark Duffy attempted several comebacks: initially under the name THE BASTARD SON OF TORANAGA (with the EP “Cynical Eyes”), then with a new logo under the name TORANAGA (and the heavy album “Righteous Retribution”) – but finally settling all naming disputes under the banner TORANAGA UK.
Since 2024, vocalist Mark Duffy has assembled a top-notch new line-up with whom he has performed numerous shows alongside acts such as ONSLAUGHT,RIOT CITY, XENTRIX, and ACID REIGN. In May 2025, the powerful “A New Order” EP was released, featuring two brand-new tracks as well as re-recorded classics “The Shrine” and “Sword of Damocles”. This was followed in March 2026 by a new single, “Crash and Burn”, the first preview of their upcoming studio album. “We are in the final stages of the recording and mixing of our new album. We can’t wait to unleash it on the metalheads out there. We believe we’ve got an album they’re going to love”, promises the lead vocalist.
Today, TORANAGA UK are opening a new chapter by announcing their signing with Fireflash Records (WOLF, TRÖJAN, HOLY MOSES, MEZZROW and more). “We were looking for a label to release our new album and believe we’ve found the right one in Fireflash Records. They have an impressive roster and we are thrilled to become a part of it. We are looking forward working with the label and the release of our next album”, comments Mark Duffy.
“As a 14-year-old metal teenager, I was completely captivated by the album artwork for Toranaga’s second album, “God’s Gift”, and so I had to dip into my pocket money after tracks like “Sword Of Damocles”, “Food Of The Gods” and “The Shrine” had absolutely blown me away whilst I was listening to them in our local record shop. I was therefore absolutely delighted when I heard that the band is back in action and that their most recent tracks were every bit as good as those on their cult classics. I’m absolutely thrilled to welcome yet another legend to Fireflash – one who still has plenty to say”, adds Fireflash owner Markus Wosgien.
On top of that, TORANAGA UK are also proud to announce that they will be heading out on a European tour in October, alongside ONSLAUGHT and THE PROPHECY 23. “This is a great opportunity for us to go out on tour supporting the mighty Onslaught along with The Prophecy 23 on their European tour. We had a few support shows with Onslaught last year and they are great guys, we are stoked to be playing alongside with them on this tour”, saysMark Duffy
