Jimmy Kay from The Metal Voice recently interview Living Colour’s singer Corey Glover about his new band Sonic Universe featuring guitarist Mike Orlando (Adrenaline Mob) bassist Booker King and drummer Taykwuan Jackson. Their new album entitled ‘It is what it is’ which will be released on May 10 via earMUSIC.

pre-order “It Is What It Is” HERE.

Glover also spoke about some of Living Colour history.

When asked about Sonic Universe guitarist Mike Orlando
“Mike is one of the best guitar players I’ve ever heard in my life hands down. I say that with some Authority because I’ve worked with some of the best guitar players there are to know. But I have to say that Mike Orlando is one of the best that I’ve ever heard in my life. He’s the best at what he does in my opinion.”

When asked what is the difference between  Living Colour and Sonic Universe
“I think just in terms of themes, it’s not as socially bent as it is emotionally bent. There’s an emotional thing about this particular record.”

When asked about the musical direction of the new album
“It’s sort of a combination of Mike’s (Orlando) sort of thing he’s done with Adrenaline Mob and the stuff he’s done with his own solo work and some of my work. Whatever I bring to the table from in my discography. So it’s a bit of a combination of both of those things.”

When asked if SONIC UNIVERSE is going to tour
“We’re gonna go on the road as soon as we possibly can. I got lots more work to do with Living Colour and we’re making a new record so when I am free, which will probably be in the fall, we’ll go out and see what’s out there for us to do.”

When asked when Living Colour is going to release a new studio album
“Probably 2025. We’re not even close to done, we’re still  in the phase of what this is going to be. So it’s going to take a minute  before we get it to where we wanted.”

When asked about the Living colour song  ‘Open Letter to a Landlord if it is more relevant in today’s world than what it was back in the 80’s
“Absolutely,  it’s much more relevant now than it was then. It was  more about Gentrification than anything else. And to know that idea still pervades and is and has been weaponized  in certain cases. It’s still a part of this whole thing.”

When asked about the issues in the past between In Living Colour television show and the bands name
“Yeah well basically  before the show had even been greenlit to go on network television  the Producers had called us and asked us if we wanted to be a part of it and we politely declined. And we thought because we declined the use of the name that they would change that and they didn’t and fortunately or unfortunately depending on how you look at it the show became a big success. Its success sort of made  some sort of confusion in the marketplace and  when you say Living Color they think oh you took up from the TV shows like no we were around before the TV show, this is not about the TV show. These aren’t jokes and we had something to say and we wanted to be taken seriously with what we had to say. We  negotiated and made some sort of concessions and they made some concessions and you know the TV show is a classic and I think Living Color is a classic so let’s call it a day.”

When asked if Living Colour will be doing a documentary
“We’re planning on doing a documentary, we’re just trying to figure out where we’re going to do it and how we’re going to do it and what we’re going to talk about. “

  2. It Is What It Is

LEPROUS Announce New Studio Album “Melodies Of Atonement”, to Tour USA & Canada in September/October

Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: Leprous. Leave a comment

Norwegian Rock outfit LEPROUS are pleased to announce the coming of their new, 8th studio album entitled “Melodies Of Atonement” to be released in August via InsideOutMusic worldwide.

LEPROUS checked in with the following comment about “Melodies Of Atonement”:
“’Melodies of Atonement’ is the name of our new album and like every band on earth thinks about their new album, we feel like it’s our best one so far! But in this case, it happens to be true…The orchestral elements are gone, which gives more space for each individual band member to shine. It’s straight to the point, and heavier than what we’ve been in a while…It’s a new sound. But it’s still Leprous. We can’t wait for you to hear it!”

LEPROUS recorded “Melodies Of Atonement” across the last months with David Castillo at Ghost Ward Studios in Sweden, while mixing with Adam Noble (Placebo, Biffy Clyro, Nothing But Thieves, etc.) and mastering with Robin Schmidt (The 1975, Placebo, The Gaslight Anthem, etc.). The album’s front cover artwork (To be seen below!) was created based on photography by John Dolan and design by Ritxi Ostáriz.

Further details and information about the new album as well as its first single will be made available soon…

But in the meantime, LEPROUS can already announce a first North American headline tour with special guests Monuments and supports Fight The Fight for September and October 2024.

LEPROUS comment about their return to North America as follows:
“We can’t wait to tour North America again together with our good friends in Monuments and Fight The Fight.  It’s been too long and we’re super eager to come back!”

BAT Release Music Video for Infectious Second Single ‘Streetbanger’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on April 15, 2024
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: BAT. Leave a comment

Richmond, Virginia metal-punk trio BAT has been delivering their own blood-spattered horror since ascending from the underground a decade ago on a dark, leather-winged trajectory. The brainchild of MUNICIPAL WASTE guitarists Ryan Waste & Nick Poulos, BAT leans heavily on the dirtier side of speed metal. On May 17th, the band welcomes the release of their second full-length album Under The Crooked Claw via Nuclear Blast Records.

Today, the band offers the infectious second track entitled ‘Streetbanger‘. The music video was directed by Ryan Waste and the cinematography was completed by Jeff Howlett.

BAT‘s Ryan Waste states, “‘Streetbanger’ was a title and lyrical concept I’ve had since the BAT demo days, so it’s been marinating for some time. It’s one of the tunes we reworked and played live for a while so it’s already been a staple in the setlist. For the video, we walked the streets of our hometown, Richmond, VA and shot the performance in our actual rehearsal space. I was able to direct the video clip on my own terms with the help of our close friend Jeff Howlett. Jeff is an amazing photographer who shot the band photos for our upcoming album Under the Crooked Claw as well as a documentary filmmaker known for A Band Called Death (2012). ‘Streetbanger’ embodies our raw, no-frills attitude in BAT and what you see is what you get.”

Danish death metal heavy weights ILLDISPOSED have announced their new studio album, “In Chambers Of Sonic Disgust”, for a June 28th release via Massacre Records!

This is the first release of new music from ILLDISPOSED since 2019. It is definitely not normal to see a gap like this between their releases, but several events slowed down the process. First, the COVID-19 pandemic had a significant impact on the music industry and made the band focus on other things for a while. Then guitar player Rasmus Henriksen was diagnosed with brain cancer. Rasmus has now left the band to focus 100% on the treatment. Former guitar player Ken Holst is back in the band, replacing Rasmus. Now, ILLDISPOSED are finally back to show the world how years of crisis and struggle have been transcribed to music. “In Chambers Of Sonic Disgust” is full of anger and frustration, and the most ambitious and creative ILLDISPOSED album – ever!

Listen to the first single and album opening track “Spitting Your Pain”, now streaming on all digital providers at: https://illdisposed.bfan.link/spittingyourpain

“In Chambers Of Sonic Disgust”, is featuring guest perfomances of Sandie The Lilith (Defacing God), and was mixed and mastered by Tue Madsen at Antfarm Studio.
