NASTERGAL unveil their latest creation, “Brothers in War,” with a captivating lyric video. This song, from their upcoming album “The Untold War,” about to drop via Wormholedeath, takes listeners on a journey into the heart of human emotions amidst the chaos of war.
Brothers in War” delves fearlessly into the intricate layers of warfare and the human psyche. It pays homage to the valor amidst battle while acknowledging the corrosive force of animosity. With poignant lyricism, Nastergal encourages the unapologetic acceptance of one’s emotions, emphasizing camaraderie even amidst opposing forces, and championing the preservation of knowledge amid perpetual strife.
Following their acclaimed “Solitude” EP, “The Untold War” delves deeper into the theme of self-discovery amidst turmoil. Inspired by Friedrich Nietzsche’s work, “Thus Spoke Zarathustra,” the album explores the turbulent journey of Zarathustra’s mind in a world filled with lies and ignorance, adapted by Riaan Coertze.
Nastergal is an international black metal band formed by Jacques Valentyn (guitars) and Riaan Coertze (drums), that expanded their lineup with Marco Toba (bass) and Evgen Zoidze (vocals). Their music, inspired by various extreme metal acts, offers a distinctive approach to the Black Metal genre. Their latest album, “The Untold War,” follows their EP “Solitude,” delving into Zarathustra’s internal battles, exploring self-realization and the conflicts of a world filled with deception and ignorance. Inspired by Friedrich Nietzsche’s “Thus Spoke Zarathustra,” the album challenges the concept that human values stem from divine or natural sources, focusing on the hidden internal struggles we keep concealed.

It’s been two years since heavy metallers VEIL OF THE SERPENT released one of their most sucessful songs, ‘Into The Moon‘. In order to make this hauntingly beautiful heavy metal ballad even more epic and to bring the song back into people’s heads, the trio now released the ‘Into The Moon‘ EP.
The band states: “The song is about a man who enjoys staring at the moon and dreaming about all that he could do in life, as he slowly grows older and the opportunities start to go away. Only in the end does the listener realize that he is in the hospital in a vegetative state and is dreaming of the life he might have if he is born again. Absolutely heartbreaking and such a beauty of a ballad! So we thought it’s time to highlight the song again by releasing the ‘Into The Moon‘ EP.”
The EP contains the original song, the instrumental version of the track and an alternate version, for which the band teamed up with Israeli singer Moran Magal, to create a captivating duet between Moran and VEIL OF THE SERPENT singer JD Stafford.
The ‘Into The Moon‘ EP is out now via all major platforms. Listen HERE!

About the band: VEIL OF THE SERPENT is a multi-national heavy metal band that was founded in 2021 by guitarist Gene and his son Felix. The two mooted the idea of working together in 2020. One year later they found a very talented singer in JD Stafford who completed the band’s line-up.

Barrus is the alias of Polish guitarist and music producer, Rafał Lipka. His creative journey began in 2010 in Olsztyn as a co-founder of the thrash metal band Eyewash.
In 2018, the band split up and Rafał fully devoted himself to his solo project. In the same year, he released a demo “surcease” and two years later, the debut album “DPDR“, featuring six instrumental tracks spanning the genres of art/atmospheric/progressive rock.
The album takes its name from the second track on the record, which explores the theme of abandoning one’s inner children. In this context, they serve as a metaphor for all kinds of fears, pains, or wounds that we carry within ourselves. In the pursuit of being “adults,” we desperately reject that part of ourselves which is no different from a small child, in need of warmth, love, and understanding. We approach negative emotions like pathological parents, abandoning them in an internal orphanage, washing our hands of their existence.
The lyrics on the album partly describe and raise awareness of such repression or its consequences. Through this, the author provides his metaphorical inner children with care and space for understanding, offering them a new home.
The music on the album combines alternative, art rock, and downtempo genres. The sonic foundation is a gritty-sounding electric guitar and vocals, often appearing in harmonious arrangements. However, “The Kids” doesn’t stick to a static instrumentation. The album features a classic lineup (guitar, bass, drums, Rhodes, synthesizers), as well as unconventional electronic beats sampled from everyday objects such as a tobacco heater, water droplets, or a creaky chair.
“The Kids” is an album that resembles more of a narrative than party bangers or background music for conversations. It serves as a soundtrack for moments when you feel down and need someone to clothe your emotions in melody and abstraction.
Leader comments: “This is a song about passing, more precisely, about the passing of our loved ones. It narrates the moment of irrational denial of the fact that this person will never return. The lyrics for this piece were written a few days after the death of someone very close to me. When I recorded the initial draft of the song, I began searching through my notes for a fitting lyrics and came across “Wilk” (The Wolf). The lyrics ultimately harmonized with the instrumental, capturing the atmosphere of fear in the face of freshly experienced grief.“
Music for this release was recorded and mixed by the project leader – Rafał Lipka, while the mastering was done by Marvin at Tide Studio Lodon (Tableau Mort, Phantom Horde). The single’s cover was created by Rafał Lipka. New album titled “The Kids” will be released digitally this spring.
Opium Death, a Chicago, USA-based band, is gearing up to release their first full-length album “Genocidal Nemesis” in April. Known for seamlessly blending thrash and death metal elements, the band has undergone significant evolution since its inception in 2012. Originally formed under the name Cazador, the band has faced lineup changes, but their commitment to modernizing classic 80’s thrash metal remains unwavering. The latest single “The Condemned” confronts dark and bleak subject matter as guitarist Irvin Gonzalez describes:
“At the time that I was writing this song, especially coming up with the lyrics, there was a trend of stories coming out in the news and social media about school bullying being an increasing phenomenon amongst children and how the victims ended up committing suicide. This angered me to write a song for those victims but in a way that reflects their thoughts and feelings in the afterlife.”
Musically, he goes on to say, it is a straightforward metal track and has a captivating groove which he hopes will lead people to reading the lyrics and taking bullying more seriously. While personally not condoning responding with life-taking intent, it is intended to make the listener angry and disgusted enough to take action.
With the release of the album Opium Death intends to showcase it at venues locally and regionally, where people can have their faces melted in real time with sonic blasts of passion and creatively wrapped up in a brutal package. Those with an interest in Gojira, Cannibal Corpse, and Cattle Decapitation.

This Friday, February 23, AUSTRIAN DEATH MACHINE – the unmissable brutal metal project helmed by As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis – will return with their first new album in a decade, Quad Brutal! Featuring 10 tracks of heavyweight thrash-infused extremity and sprint-worthy speed, the album will instantly have listeners coming back for more – ready for endless reps and skipping nothing (except maybe leg day).
Today, AUSTRIAN DEATH MACHINE racks up their fourth and final single from Quad Brutal, entitled “Judgment Day”. Ricky Hoover of deathcore unit Ov Sulfur lends his vocal attack to unrelenting ripper – one of the new album’s most spine-tingling, breakneck tracks with an unforgettable chorus and a punishing closer of unmatched brutality.
Tim Lambesis says about “Judgment Day” and its video: “Neeyahhh! The over-the-top visual theme behind the ‘Judgment Day’ video represents our promise to keep marching forward and persist in having a good time no matter what happens, until the final moments of Judgment Day make that impossible. Until then, don’t be too serious and find a way to keep going! I’ve found a community of good friends that make it easier to stay on my feet – I wouldn’t have made Quad Brutal without my band mates reminding me that I don’t need to create AUSTRIAN DEATH MACHINE songs alone like I’ve done with many songs before this album.”
In historic AUSTRIAN DEATH MACHINE fashion, Quad Brutal is supported by a slew of guests on each track – in addition to vocal contributions from Dany Lambesis (HELLBØRN), tracks on Quad Brutal are supercharged by professional bodybuilders and vocalists Craig Golias and Rob Bailey, vocalist Ricky Hoover (Ov Sulfur, ex-Suffokate), guitar virtuosos Angel Vivaldi, Clayton King, Brandon Richter (Bleeding Through), Joey Alarcon (Wolves at the Gate, Born Through Fire) and more. Oh, and Ahhnold himself, of course!
Absolute units like relentless debut single “No Pain No Gain”, hammering “Get Down”, apocalyptic harbinger “Judgment Day” and massive “I Never Quit” blister and groove with unmatched fury, while death-meets-metalcore burners like “Destroy The Machines”, “MeatGrinder” and “Don’t Be Lazy” explode with the colossal strength of Ahhnold himself. On the other end of the weight bench, large and in charge head-spinners like “Conquer” and “Hey Bro Can You Spot Me?” bring the brutality without sacrificing melody, and will have fans of Lambesis’ other projects turning their heads.
Lambesis says about Quad Brutal: “Being commissioned by The Govournator to sonically encompass the brutality of 80s action, bodybuilding, and judgment day into one album is a task that comes with great responsibility. First, I had to make it brutal of course. Then, I had to make sure to include choruses so that people don’t forget the great wisdom of Ahhnold’s words. And since it’s the fourth album, I had to really work on my quad strength at the gym to someday be ready to carry the weight of the world from the album cover when it’s passed along to me someday. The result is an album that is much more diverse than any ADM album I’ve written, and in the spectrum of heavy, it is the most brutal by a long shot when you hear all 10 songs.”
Quad Brutal track listing: 1. No Pain No Gain (feat. Craig Golias, Angel Vivaldi) 2. Conquer (feat. HELLBØRN, Clayton King) 3. Hey Bro Can You Spot Me? (feat. Craig Golias, Alarcon) 4. Judgment Day (feat. Ov Sulfur) 5. Everybody Pities The Weak (feat. HELLBØRN) 6. Don’t Be Lazy (feat. Craig Golias) 7. Get Down (feat. Craig Golias) 8. Destroy The Machines (feat. Dany Lambesis) 9. MeatGrinder (feat. HELLBØRN) 10. I Never Quit (feat. Kill ROB Bailey, Craig Golias, Bleeding Through)
AUSTRIAN DEATH MACHINE launched 15 years ago as a one man band, triumphing as the metal scene’s newest obsession with their 2008 debut album, Total Brutal. After releasing two more acclaimed albums in 2009 and 2014, the one man band did the impossible – they broke up. After a decade of regrowth and rebirth, and with the help of good friends by his side, Lambesis finally felt inspired to work on new music for the project, now emerging as Quad Brutal – chock full of the band’s most heavy, breakneck riffage, non-stop pummeling rhythms and Ahhnold-approved ferocity yet. AUSTRIAN DEATH MACHINE is prepared to climb back to the top of their weight class – packing more punch than Mr. Universe himself with Quad Brutal!
