Brace yourselves for the sonic eruption of “Butterfly Effect”, the newest instrumental gem from Polish/Cairo-based guitarist and composer ANDRZEJ CITOWICZ and his project, THE FIREFLIES OF FEBRUARY. This electrifying hard rock track serves as a potent appetizer for their recently released album, “Hive of Weirdness,” the climactic chapter in their critically acclaimed trilogy.

“Hive of Weirdness,” available on all major platforms since February 9th, 2024, signifies not just an ending, but a thrilling metamorphosis. This diverse and dynamic 10-track odyssey transcends genre, drawing inspiration from rock titans like Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, and Metallica, while weaving in the virtuosic stylings of Satriani and Vai. Each track, including the captivating “Butterfly Effect,” pulsates with Citowicz’s signature blend of technical prowess and raw emotion, echoing the introspective themes explored in his published works, “Hive of Weirdness” and “Never Ending Storms.”

Fellow Polish musician Patryk Szymanski’s thunderous bass lines provide the perfect counterpoint to Citowicz’s soaring guitar work in “Butterfly Effect,” solidifying their long-standing musical partnership. But the journey doesn’t stop there. This release serves as a springboard for a bold new venture: transforming the trilogy into a vocal experience.

Citovitz, a former recording artist with Down Boys Records (Erik Turner & Jerry Dixon of Warrant), plans to breathe new life into the instrumentals by collaborating with diverse vocalists and incorporating AI technology. This innovative approach promises a fresh perspective on his music, attracting a wider audience while staying true to its core essence.

PUSSY RIOT Protest Putin in Honor of Navalny

Yesterday, Pussy Riot created an action in front of the Russian Embassy in Berlin. Given the horrific murder of Alexei Navalny, they brought a banner reading “MURDERERS” in Russian and English.

They clashed with German police, who forced them to remove their masks, and threatened them with arrest if they did not comply. The action was led by Pussy Riot creator Nadya Tolokonnikova, and they were joined by local activists, as well as Pussy Riot member Lucy Shtein, Navalny team member Lyubov Sobol, and by Marina Ovsyannikova.

Many who took part in the action were in town for the World Forum / Cinema for Peace, including participation in panels on Alexei Navalny, the future of Russia, and the role of dissidents. The World Forum was started soon after the protest action, with Nadya Tolokonnikova asking for a moment of silence for her friend Alexei Navalny.

We came with one simple word – “MURDERERS”
He did not just die. He was murdered.

What we need to know about Putin is that he’s much more fragile than he seems. He is afraid of his opponents.

Alexei Navalny was hope and light for people inside and outside of Russia. He was symbol of hope and resistance, and an example of someone standing up for his values.

If he was standing here with us he would be cracking jokes.

He led with love and joy and laughter.

This allowed him to give us strength. Even when he was in jail.

Lets continue with Joy and Strength to honor Alexei.

– Pussy Riot’s creator Nadya Tolokonnikova

Conceptual performance artist Nadya Tolokonnikova is the creator of Pussy Riot, a global feminist protest art movement. Tolokonnikova was named a top enemy of Russia for speaking out against Vladimir Putin’s dictatorship throughout the last decade: she was sentenced in 2012 to 2 years’ imprisonment following an anti-Putin performance, and was recently added to the Russian “most wanted” and “terrorist” lists.

Today, hundreds of people identify as a part of the Pussy Riot community.

Pussy Riot’s Punk-Prayer was named by The Guardian among the best art pieces of the 21st century: “feminist, explicitly anti-Putin, protesting the banning of gay pride and the Orthodox church’s support of the president”.

Exhibited at MoMA PS1, Palais de Tokyo, Saatchi Gallery, Louisiana Museum in Denmark, Dallas Contemporary among other places. Live performances at Glastonbury, Outside Lands Music Festival, Life Is Beautiful, and Denmark’s Roskilde, along with tours opening for MARINA, as well as headlining tours.

Tolokonnikova’s Putin’s Ashes art installation at Deitch Gallery in January 2023 propelled her into a new criminal case and put her on said most wanted criminal list.  In her inspiring TED Talk, she tells the story of her imprisonment and shares what motivates her resistance; delivering a powerful message to Putin himself.

VLAD IN TEARS Release New Single + Video ‘Break Away’

VLAD IN TEARS release “Break Away”. The song is the third pre-release single from the upcoming studio album “Relapse”, which will be released on 8 March 2024 on Metalville Records.

“Break Away” is the voice of all of those who are tired of lies, hypocrisy, and tyranny. It is the hymn for all those who need to break free from prejudice and misjudgment.

After the release of “Porpora” in 2022 VLAD IN TEARS have gotten closer to most of their fans and they have been writing to the band about their feelings, their personal battles and struggles like never before.

This album is dedicated to all of those who are still fighting, those who have not won yet, and those who want to be listened to. It is a collection of stories from people all around the world who want their voices and stories to be heard and told.

It took the musicians almost one year to make it. During last summer, Kris and his two brothers Alessio and Dario, have spent 10 days in a row
at Kris’ personal recording studio. “We haven’t done something like it in a long time, we have created and felt the true magic that our bond as brothers can be released
when we are together, completely dedicated to our music.” Kris Vlad comments.

After the recording the band had the pleasure to work with Alessandro from “Escape Room Records” who made a huge and amazing sound for them.

“Relapse” is the 9th VLAD IN TEARS Album , and it is the rockiest one, which, as weird as it might sound, but it does not contain any synth instrument. They have made one only full electro song though.

The band also have recorded 9 of the 11 new songs as acoustic version, which will be available exclusively as part of the limited Fan-Box.

RATS WILL FEAST Sign to Time To Kill Records for Release of New Album “Hellhole”

Finnish experimental hardcore outfit RATS WILL FEAST have signed to Italy’s Time To Kill Records for the release of their new album “Hellhole”.

RATS WILL FEAST draws their musical landscape from extreme aggression and hallucinatory chaos. Hailing from Jyväskylä, Finland, the band has been touring actively in its current form since 2018. Varying between crushing hardcore, noisy psychedelia and more mellow post-rock sounds on their 2019 album “Scarcity”, 2020 EP “Songs of a Racehorse” and 2021’s “Malady”, the band’s new album “Hellhole” continues the development of the bands destructive chaotic hardcore sound.

“Hellhole” is the culmination of the band’s all the previous work. It’s a bruising demonstration of the bands core sound: chaotic rhythms, battering drums, screeching vocals, varied guitar melodies and crushing riffs with gritty low frequencies. Characteristic of the band, the album is defined by the twisted song structures and desolate, emotional lyrics which deal with the artificiality of the modern world.

Watch for more details on the new album release, new tour updates, and more news on other upcoming RATS WILL FEAST activities to be posted shortly.

For fans of: Lighthouse Project, Endstand, Envy, The Dillinger Escape Plan, The Chariot, Botch.

Line-up:

Aaron – drums
Konsta – bass
Joona – guitar
Ruben – guitar
Vocals by everyone.

Today the band is revealing a new video for the track Faensgyte.

The band shared: “After a decade of existence and armed with our new formidable lineup, Ondfodt embarked on a mission to breathe new life into the classics that defined our early years. This endeavor culminated in the creation of an EP featuring reimagined renditions of our most potent tracks from the inaugural and sophomore albums.“

“

time to sculpt the music into a manifestation of the direction in which Ondfodt is evolving.”

“The result is a sonic experience that is not only more explosive and powerful but also retains
the clarity that defines our signature sound. This project represents a testament to our
commitment to musical evolution and the relentless pursuit of excellence.
