VANIR is one of Denmark’s most prominent melodic death metal bands and has, since the band’s inception, released six full-length albums. And today they unleash their seventh beast, titled “Epitome”.
The theme of this new opus is the Danish middle-ages, with two songs branching into the Renaissance (“Wood Iron And Will” and the early middle-age “Blood Eagle”). The core of the album’s theme is the throne and the battles fought to keep it or to cement its power.
The first single of the album, “Twisting The Knife”, was written about The Stockholm Bloodbath, which was a trial that led to a series of executions in Stockholm between the 7th and the 9th of November 1520. The siege of Arkona in 1169, led by the Danish and Pomeranian forces under Valdemar I, is the beginning point for “Fall of Arkona”. Finally, a song about strength, valour and courage (“One Man Army”) completed the singles trilogy of the record.
The “Epitome” album cover is a depiction of the Danish queen Sorte Grethe (Black Greta). In her own time, Margaret had a reputation as a competent and enlightened regent. Regent Margaret was faced with the unresolved conflict between the crown and the archbishop. The song “Sorte Grethe”, on the album, is about a bloody battle where 12.000 men were killed to protect her sons’ right to the crown.
“Epitome” is out today on CD, LP (black vinyl, limited to 300) and digital formats via Mighty Music. It can be ordered here.
Vanir has been around for more than 10 years and has evolved a lot since the band’s beginning. With the last three records, and now with “Epitome”, Vanir shows its hard edge and catchy melodic death metal.
From the Sagas of old to the halls of kings and the bloody battlefields, Vanir’s music has been put together, without compromise, with a fascination with Scandinavian common origins, and the blood spilled throughout history.

Pittsburgh, US based symphonic death metal project Thy Shining Curse has unleashed its highly anticipated debut album “Theurgia” today, available via ViciSolum Productions. To commemorate the release of their new record, Thy Shining Curse has unveiled a gloomy music video for their latest single, “Lenore”. Watch the video below.
Founded in 2021, Thy Shining Curse is the solo musical project of a death metal initiate, Leonidas, with a primary focus on the practice of hierurgical artistry through symphonic methexis and hermetic imagery. The band is dedicated to the vision of its founder, aiming to create an immersive mystical experience by invoking the archetypical instincts of man via powerful symbolism, following the principles of the Pythagorean tradition, the Eleusinian mysteries, Neoplatonism and Western Esotericism. The depiction of its members is purposefully avoided. Instead, two mysterious figures act as the band’s visual representatives, Celeus and Celeucis. Their purpose is to complement the auditory experience with a subliminal initiation to the visual language of symbols, acting as modern-day hierophants.
Rich in its intensity and harmonies, the band’s debut record is a collection of seven musical rites, revolving around a common thematic axis; transgressing the physical world. “Theurgia” stands for “divine work” in Greek and was developed as a term by the Neoplatonists. It describes a series of magical acts that aim to connect the human soul to a hierarchy of superior beings, leading up to the supreme being or so-called, The One.
“Theurgia” is out NOW on ViciSolum Productions and available for purchase at THIS LOCATION

Iterum Nata are now unveiling “A Manifested Nightmare”, the third single from the upcoming release “From the Infinite Light”. The project by Jesse Heikkinen (The Abbey, Henget, ex-Hexvessel), will release its fifth studio album via Nordvis on March 15.
Find “A Manifested Nightmare” all digital streaming platforms HERE.
Physical pre-orders for the album are available in the Nordvis Store.
Jesse comments: “A Manifested Nightmare” is about despair and the acceptance of a dark fate. It portrays undefeatable, sinister forces relentlessly pursuing you, leading to an inevitable surrender. Musically, this hauntingly dramatic track is characterized by its hypnotic, repetitive elements, featuring some of the finest piano work I’ve ever recorded. It’s an ideal soundtrack for sleepwalking through nightmares.”
In the wake of his critically acclaimed 2023 album, “Trench of Loneliness”, Jesse embarks on a bold foray across the boundaries between folk music, black and doom metal, neo-folk, and progressive rock, orchestrating a symphony where every note is a harbinger of both darkness and light.
Delving into the abyss of the human psyche, the album chronicles the odyssey of a desperate soul seeking refuge in the shadows of his inner chaos, eventually finding a sombre embrace in the darkness borne from his disintegrating sanity.

As twelve-string and six-string acoustic guitars weave a cloak of folky serenity, tremolo-picked electric guitars inject black metal mysticism, forging a sound that’s as distinctive as it is immersive. Fusing the brooding narratives of Nick Cave, the avant-garde creativity of Dødheimsgard, and the spectral chants of Dead Can Dance, “From the Infinite Light” is a beckoning path into a world where the melancholy of introspection meets the rage of existence.
With “From the Infinite Light”, Iterum Nata transitions from a solitary journey to a collective venture, featuring a full band setup that augments the weight and breadth of the project’s soundscape, marking this as its most ambitious and heaviest work to date.
