In the world of dark and heavy sounds, GOTHMINISTER have earned themselves a reputation of being “one of the most iconic gothic/industrial metal acts”. Not only has their power-laden sound and unique blend of modern gothic industrial metal, danceable EDM parts and a pinch of retro charm inspired their audiences since 1999, its eloquent fantasy stories and impressive theatrical live shows have also transported them to uncharted territories. The band’s sophisticated music videos received more than 30 international film awards to date to date.

Their forthcoming studio offering, Pandemonium II: The Battle Of The Underworlds, is set to be unleashed on May 3, 2024 as limited clear vinyl and CD-Digipak via AFM Records. Taking up where its 2022 predecessor ‘Pandemonium’ left off: The much-acclaimed album conquered the charts, made it to number one on the German Alternative Charts, and was voted as the ‘Album Of The Year 2022’ at the Dark Music Awards. GOTHMINISTER´s music videos for ‘Pandemonium’ and ‘Demons’ alone won stunning 19 film awards worldwide.

All of the new GOTHMINISTER album tracks were composed and written by Brem, who also produced the new release. The mix is courtesy of Henning Verlage (Unheilig, Eisbrecher) and Norwegian sound engineer Morten Lund, who has worked with Morten Harket (A-ha), among others, was in charge of the album mastering. “The new material is faster and catchier than that of the predecessor album, but at the same time it sounds even more complex and modern, with more sophisticated vocal melodies and challenging breaks,” Brem reveals, “at the same time the driving beats for the dancefloor and the concept of ultra-low-sounding, tough guitar riffs are still present and link both recordings.”

Melodic metal band Mist Descends from Finland has released second single from their upcoming EP.

Mist Descends background the new single “Blind Hope”:

“Blind Hope is a journey from trust to despair and finally about the end of a relationship. Lyrics written by Julia tell a tale about revealing the true intentions of someone you thought was your friend or even a lover. The betrayal that cracks through your mind, a stain that only time can heal. The song is composed by Peltsi originally quite a while ago and built up with all the members of Mist Descends playing their part to the darkness of the song. During the recordings Peltsi added a lot of details for the listener. “

Singer Julia’s thoughts: “Sadly, I think we have all gone through this situation at some point in our lives. Once this person has revealed those true intentions, things must change and from the great disillusionment, you must move on. In a positive light these are the moments to learn and lead to finding the actual people closest to you.”

BLAZE BAYLEY Release New Single + Music Video ‘Rage’

Metal Hall of Fame inductee Blaze Bayley (Iron Maiden singer 1994-1999) releases the second single/video from his forthcoming new album ‘Circle of Stone’ Watch ‘Rage’ music video

The single ‘Rage’ tells the story from Welsh folklore of Gelert the faithful hound & his unfortunate demise at the hands of his beloved owner Prince Llewelyn. The animation for the video was developed by Hot Frog Animations & is a suitably dramatic, anguished portrayal of the tale. The song features violinist Anne Bakker who also worked with Blaze on the Infinite Entanglement trilogy (2016-2018).

‘Rage’ is available to pre-save/stream/download now at the usual digital platforms via this link Blaze Bayley – Circle of Stone (orcd.co), whilst the album is also available to buy on Vinyl LP & CD via http://www.blazebayley.net

In Blaze’s own words the ‘Circle of Stone’ album is a work of 2 halves…

“Side one comprises six unconnected songs that describe human frailty, resilience, courage, and gratitude. Can you look to yourself for answers? Can you fight against all the odds to take your future in your own hand, or do you accept the fate that other people tell you is what you deserve? Believe in yourself. You can survive the knocks, defeats and disappointments of your life and come back stronger. That is the hope we hold in our first six songs.”

Blaze continues… “Side two contains six connected songs that tell the story of our forgotten tribe; a search for the truth in the heart of the circle of tall stones. Seeking the mystical portal, whilst the ancestors call to you in dreams, you have denied them. They demand vengeance and reckoning but you are a selfish, materialistic coward, and you have avoided the true path of your future. You must find a way to become selfless and courageous to lead our tribe back to the homeland of our ancestors. This is the journey described by the six songs of side two.“

The recording of the new album was completed in March 2023 just two days before Blaze suffered a heart attack, needing life-saving bypass surgery. The album was held in abeyance whilst Blaze recovered. As well as his regular team from British melodic metal band Absolva (Chris Appleton on lead guitar, Luke Appleton on power guitar, Martin McNee on drums, Karl Schramm on bass), Blaze called upon a fascinating mix of collaborators…

Niklas Stalvind (from Swedish metal band Wolf) – guest vocals on ‘Circle of Stone’, ‘Call of the Ancestors’ & ‘A Day of Reckoning’

Talented singer Tammy-Rae Bois, from South Wales (UK), who duets with Blaze on ‘Until We Meet Again’

Gifted Dutch violinist Anne Bakker who plays on ‘Rage’ & ‘Until We Meet Again’

Last but not least Vicky Kennerley, from the West Midlands (UK), adds the spectacular & unmistakable bag pipes featured on ‘Call of the Ancestors’

Chris Appleton mixed the record, & co-produced with Blaze. Ade Emsley mastered. Akirant Illustration provided the fantastic lay-out & design.

Blaze & the band are touring Europewide, weaving between Circle of Stone tour dates & 30th Anniversary shows – celebrating 30 years since he joined Iron Maiden.

Silent Majority Group Creates Another Ground-Breaking Deal

Posted by tarjavirmakari on January 31, 2024
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: Jeff Hanson, Silent Majority Group. Leave a comment

Silent Majority Group, founded by former Creed and Paramore manager Jeff Hanson, is widely known to have created the first 360° deal for an American artist between Warner Music Group / Atlantic and Hanson’s then management client Hayley Williams p.k.a. Paramore in 2006. This was done as a solution between then WMG CEO Lyor Cohen and Hanson, in response to a need to cover higher than expected label expenses for such a young artist. Hanson along with noted Nashville based contract attorneys, Jim Zumwalt and the late Orville Almon responded to these special needs by proposing a way to satisfy both party’s needs, and the first label participation deal was born. The label would prioritize an artist in exchange for the label receiving a percentage of the artist’s touring, merchandise, and publishing. This arrangement is now considered the standard in the industry.

Fast forward nearly 20 years later, Hanson has again seemingly solved another industry and artist quandary. In the current music business, artists suffer from drastically reduced royalties due to the absence of CD’s. The artists now live on streaming payments from Spotify, Apple Music and Tidal, which is a drop in the bucket compared to what they were able to make in the past. It is also widely known that the labels themselves now sign far fewer artists, for far less money, and the days of labels spending millions of dollars “developing” artists are no more. In fact, it is now normal for artists to wait in line for years before their records are finally released and they have little to no way to survive during the down time. Silent Majority Group (SMG), the company founded by Hanson, is now run by a new group of young executives who believe that there is a new solution to the same old problem. SMG has morphed from a management company and Warner Distributed Label to a label services solution that includes a network of multi-platinum and hot new writers and producers including Candlebox ‘s founding member and primary songwriter Peter Klett and Saving Abel ‘s founder and primary songwriter Jason Null. SMG has arrangements for discounted rates at multiple world class recording studios, including their primary facility, The Fish Tank Recordings in St Augustine, where recordings are supervised by a staff of 5 A&R reps.In addition to the creative services, SMG also has a staff of multiple marketing employees fresh out of college and armed with the latest music industry marketing concepts, including a publicist and play listers. SMG also has arrangements with talent executives at American Idol and America’s Got Talent providing private auditions. These services themselves are not unique and could probably be accessed by acquiring a record deal, as scarce as they may be, although in that event SMG can still function as a fully staffed record label with distribution from OneRPM distribution services. The twist with the services concept is that the services offered by SMG are available to anyone with talent, and on an a la carte basis. Many artists these days are proficient in many of the DIY tasks needed to be a recording artist, therefore artists only need to pay for what they need, and the fees involved are far less than an artist might expect. In a recording industry that regularly spends a million dollars or more on a single, that gets charged back to the artists, SMG staff can help the artist write or acquire songs, record, distribute, play list, market, AND provide artwork including a lyric video, all done by top level professionals, for under 10k per song. The whole concept was designed for budget conscious and blue-collar artist. Another unique aspect of what SMG does, is offer their services with no strings attached. The fees are paid monthly, or per song, and there are no contracts or no terms. Best of all, if the artist blows up, there are no percentages, points or back-end payments owed to SMG and SMG has NO ownership of any of the artist’s rights. Pretty ironic coming from the authors of the first US label participation agreement which started the industry standard of labels taking cuts of revenue they weren’t previously entitled to.
