InsideOutMusic are pleased to announce the signing of US-based rising instrumental progressive metallers Sometime In February to a worldwide deal. Originally founded as an instrumental solo project for guitarist Tristan Auman in 2020, Sometime in February became a fully rounded prog rock trio with the addition of drummer Scott Barber and bassist Morgan Johnson after making the jump from studio to stage following the release of their EP ‘Here Goes’ in 2021.

To celebrate, the band have launched a brand new single, and you can listen to ‘Hiding Place’ now here: https://sometimeinfebruary.lnk.to/HidingPlace-Single

Tristan comments of the track: “Up to this point, nearly all of the writing for Sometime in February had been my responsibility, and for the past year, we’ve been focused on switching gears to a full band dynamic. The resulting collaboration is wholly new, and unmistakably us, and sets the stage for our upcoming sophomore album.”

The Carolina-based group has kept their foot on the gas ever since, touring throughout the Southeast US and releasing their follow-up, the debut LP ‘There Goes’, in 2023. Their first full-length record gained attention from prog fans and peers alike, with Tristan receiving an invitation to join Between the Buried and Me in a live capacity throughout the Parallax II: Future Sequence Tour.

The band comments: “We are thrilled to be signing to the world’s premier label for progressive music, InsideOutMusic. Sometime in February wouldn’t exist without many of the artists on their roster, and it’s an honor to stand beside them. Thomas Waber has been supportive and encouraging to us for some time now, and we’re excited that we found the right moment to work together and make InsideOutMusic the home for the next era of Sometime in February.”

InsideOutMusic label-head Thomas Waber adds: “We are extremely excited to be working alongside this talented young US band. After talking to them for a while, it felt like now was the right time to welcome them to the fold, and on the evidence of the new track ‘Hiding Place’, bright things are ahead!”

The band are about embark on some select live shows in the US, and you can catch them at the following dates:

1st February – The East Room, Nashville, TN
2nd February – The 27 Club, Asheville, NC
3rd February – Boggs Social, Atlanta, GA

CATHUBODUA Premiere Music Video for New Album Single ‘Effigy Of Aftermath’

February 23, 2024 will see CATHUBODUA release their new studio album, “Interbellum”, via Massacre Records, and unleash a storm that will enrapture fans of symphonic metal from all over the world! The album pre-sale is available at https://lnk.to/interbellum

Following their previously-released, first album single “Foretelling”, today, CATHUBODUA have premiered a music video for their epic album opening track “Eff igy Of Aftermath”! Says vocalist Sara Vanderheyden:

“In a dramatic, swift, yet gentle embrace, “Effigy of Aftermath” seizes you by the throat. Deliberately, we chose to center our focus on rapid lead guitars, majestic brass-driven orchestrations, and profoundly intense fluctuations between lighter and darker musical themes.

This song incarnates the mystical realm of Cathubodua, metamorphosing gradually into the formidable war goddess she represents. Echoing the tradition of classical war goddesses who embodied both passion and love, we found inspiration in intertwining these potent forces. The lyrics draw from the haunting image of Cathubodua, enticing men into battlefields for a gruesome fate—an unexpected manifestation of love and perfection. While the verses delve into the disappointment with people in life, the chorus radiates a luminous and positive aura, beckoning listeners into the battlefield that unfolds in the song’s climactic crescendo.“

The song is now available on all digital services via https://c athubodua.bfan. link/effigyofaf termath, watch the music video here:

Following the band’s debut EP in 2016, their first full-length tells the tale of the creation and destruction of a war goddess – from high hopes, power, and dreams, to love lost and how to deal with an eternal burning guilt. These intense emotions are musically displayed in a more grandiose and intense way than the band ever did before, incorporating more ideas and influences from heavier metal genres this time.

“Interbellum” will hit you in the face, not just emotionally and lyrically but also musically. The guitars are allowed a way more prominent role on the album and generate a massive driving force that carries you through the stories. CATHUBODUA‘s forthcoming album is raw and heavier than anything the band has ever done before, without compromising on the epic violin melodies, the heavenly orchestrations and vocalist Sara’s immense vocal range!

The album was produced with Yarne Heylen at Project Zero Studio, and was mixed and mastered by Erwin Hermsen at the Toneshed Recording Studio. The stunning artwork has been created by Jelle van Loo.

THE DISTANCE Reveal the Deep Cut of New “The Wound” Full-Length Album, Out Today

Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: THE DISTANCE. Leave a comment

The Wound, from Spanish post hardcore group The Distance, consist of nine songs with honest lyrics that are based on its singer’s personal experiences.

The guitars follow the path they started in their first album playing powerful hardcore riffs, combined with clean post-rock (like in A Heart Covered In Bruises). Songs like I Thought You’d Take My Hand introduces some noise reminiscence and others like Insomnia/Nightmare play with dissonance to keep the tension and emotion of the song. You can even hear the beautiful cello chords in Your Name played by the recognized professional cellist Laia Ferrer.

The bass is strong and combines perfectly the strength of its hardcore roots like in Flowers, with the beautiness of simple and repetitive rhythms like in Saint Faith st.. The long experience of the drummer gives The Wound a solid rhythm base full of different details.

Tracklist:
01. Soil (Part 1) | 02. A Heart Covered In Bruises | 03. Flowers | 04. Saint Faith st. | 05. Soil (Part 2) | 06. Insomnia-Nightmare | 07. I Thought You’d Take My Hand | 08. Letters | 09. Your Name

The Wound | Released January 30th, 2024 via Sliptrick Records

The Distance is:
Yamil Ghazi – Vocals/Guitar | Óscar D. Martí – Bass/Back Vocals | Julián Gil – Lead Guitar | Alberto Abad – Drums
