UK death metal juggernauts INGESTED will unleash their new full-length studio album, The Tide Of Death And Fractured Dreams, on April 5th via Metal Blade Records!

Not many top-tier death metal bands can record and release an album a year and follow it with an extensive tour. That’s hardly ever been the case for Manchester, England’s crushing, visceral INGESTED. Since the release of their fifth album, 2020’s Where Only God May Tread, the band has been on a creative tear that has produced almost a full record every year – even through the COVID-19 pandemic – but has resulted in the kind of musical growth that only comes from constantly practicing, playing, and writing.

The band’s latest output, The Tide Of Death And Fractured Dreams, is not only as innovative and brutal as their last disc — the bleak, firestorm Ashes Lie Still — it showcases a band willing to expand its creativity without sacrificing the ferocity that made it one of the most impressively destructive, technical death metal bands on the scene. The Tide Of Death And Fractured Dreams is proof that once INGESTED sniffs out a trail of musical blood, they ravenously follow it until they’ve uncovered a festering feast.

Produced by the band with the guidance of recording engineer Nico Beninato, the record includes a guest appearance by Chimaira‘s Mark Hunter who provides guest vocals for the track “In Nothingness” and Sylosis singer Josh Middleton who contributes to “Expect To Fail,” as well as the striking cover art of David Seidman.

Whether pummeling listeners with double-bass rolls, blast-beats, and grinding rhythm; breaking it all down with jagged, staggered riffs, and piercing harmonics; or flooding the mix with rapid-fire bursts of minor key melodies, INGESTED has injected all of their experience, skill, and artistry into the ten trenchant new songs on The Tide Of Death And Fractured Dreams. Where the new album differs from its predecessor isn’t in its brutality or melodicism, it’s in the songwriting and the way the tunes flow together in a way that’s vicious, but not morose.

“Ashes… was constructed in the COVID period, and the mood of that album definitely reflects that time,” the band notes, “With The Tide Of Death And Fractured Dreams, we wanted to bring the energy up a bit. As much as we like what we did with Ashes…, its depressive tone isn’t something we wanted to continue to explore quite as much. There are definitely some dark moments on …Tide…, but for the most part, we took a more upbeat approach to the songs this time round.”

In advance of the record’s release, today the band revealed the first single, “Paragon Of Purity,” and its accompanying video. The track seamlessly contrasts devastating guitar chugs and a spine-tingling minor-key licks with a wall of blast beats and a balance of intense, dizzying riffs that explore both sides of the sonic spectrum; it’s alternately reminiscent of Obituary and Morbid Angel.

Elaborates guitarist Sean Hynes, who penned the lyrics for this particular track, “It’s about loving what we do, how hard we’ve worked for it, and the support we have from our families back home. Missing them and being on the road is hard, but we couldn’t do it without them.”

Exclusive Premiere for Finland: ARTILLERY “By Inheritance – Live” Lyric Video

After announcing their upcomign live album “Raw Live (In Copenhell)”, ARTILLERY release a second digital single and lyric video from the record. Released in 1990 in the album with the same title, “By Inheritance” is, because of this, one of the oldest tracks in Artillery’s live set. The simple fact that they nail it, playing so well, but also with such power and enthusiasm, speaks volumes of what the Danes do, and why they do it.

So, crank up the volume, relax and prepare for a thrash shot of adrenaline, fun and true metal. The Artillery way.

Artillery is not a band of many live albums, In fact, in over four decades, they have put out just one. Until now. So, when it’s bound to happen, it should be special. Enter “Raw Live (At Copenhell)”. Recorded in 2022, just coming out of pandemics lockout, in one of the biggest metal festivals in their home country (and among the biggest metal festivals in Europe!), the live set by the Danes was impeccable. Sadly, it was also one of the last live appearances by drummer Josua Madsen, who was killed the next year in a car accident. It also marks a turning point for the veteran thrashers, who recently said goodbye to vocalist Michael Bastholm Dahl and guitar player Kraen Meier and are looking forward to an exciting new era ahead. But, for now, let’s bow before Josua’s monster performance at Copenhell in 2022 and hear it from Artillery’s guitar player and founder Michael Stützer about the release.

“The year was 2022, we got the offer to play at one of the world’s absolutely coolest metal festivals: Copenhell. Everything had been destroyed by COVID-19 in the years before. So, 2022 was the year we got busy.

Big festivals contacted us, German TV and so on. Rockhard, Sweden Rock, Brutal Assault and Copenhell.

Copenhell was big for us. To share the stage with bands like KISS, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Mercyful Fate, Judas Priest, it hardly gets bigger. We sat down and decided to get the concert recorded, it had to be as raw as possible, authentic as hell and the hope was to be able to use the tracks as bonuses for future releases. Maybe as a live release. When we received the recording, we thought that the recording should be released as a concert, not as bonus tracks. Søren Andersen, our permanent producer, was put on the case. Sound levels had to be fixed a bit, but that was it. Søren said at one point, “Damn, Josh is ON FIRE!”. And he was!

Denmark’s biggest music magazine Gaffa gave the concert 5/6 stars and the headline was “The man is busy”. Josh played better than ever. Josua was killed in a car accident in 2023. Now the album is released, a little late, yes, but it’s a recording, which is as it should be when talking about Artillery. Raw, unpolished, straight in your face. Hence the name of the live record: “Raw Live (At Copenhell)”.

Artillery has been around for more than 40 years. The final chapter has not been written yet; just wait, there is more to Artillery. For example, a Metalized tour with friends from Manticora and new singer Martin Steene, known from Iron Fire and Force of Evil, as well as a larger USA tour. The album is a tribute to Josh, as well as a clenched fist in the air to our fans. Thanks Satan. Thanks to Mighty Music.”

“Live Raw (At Copenhell)” will be released on CD, LP (black vinyl) and digital formats via Mighty Music on February 2nd, 2024.

Recording lineup:
Michael Bastholm Dahl – vocals
Michael Stützer – lead guitars

NECROPHOBIC Share Lyric Video for Melodic New Song ‘As Stars Collide’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on January 18, 2024

Swedish blackened death metal masters NECROPHOBIC are now unveiling their melodic new single, “As Stars Collide.” The track can be found along with a cosmic lyric video, which was created by Brendan McGowan, at THIS LOCATION.

“As Stars Collide” is taken from NECROPHOBIC‘s upcoming tenth studio album, ‘In the Twilight Grey,’ which is due on March 15, 2023 via Century Media Records!

Lead guitarist Sebastian Ramstedt says that “As Stars Collide” is “The most important song on the album for me personally. It starts off with the main melody, that was actually something my mother sang to me as a kid in the early 70’s. It is almost like a chant, or a dark lullaby. I wanted to honor her melody, but put it in my own context. I used one of the oldest stories ever told and drew inspiration from ‘Innana’s Descent’ – the tale where the morning and evening star meet in the underworld to decide whether good or evil should reign. I wanted to create something that stretched beyond the metal barriers.”

‘In the Twilight Grey’ is now available for pre-orders HERE and can be found in the following formats:

  • Ltd. Deluxe Gatefold combat green 2LP & LP-Booklet & Poster incl. 2 bonus tracks (1.000x)
  • Gatefold black LP
  • Gatefold dark green LP (300x)
  • Ltd. CD Mediabook (comes with a special, extended booklet and 2 bonus tracks)
  • Standard CD Jewelcase
  • Digital album

The artwork for ‘In The Twilight Grey’ was created by Jens Rydén.

‘In The Twilight Grey’ Tracklisting:

  1. Grace of the Past
  2. Clavis Inferni
  3. As Stars Collide [WATCH]
  4. Stormcrow [WATCH]
  5. Shadows of the Brightest Night
  6. Mirrors of a Thousand Lakes
  7. Cast in Stone
  8. Nordanvind
  9. In the Twilight Grey
  10. Ascension (Episode Four)

Enigmatically titled ‘In the Twilight Grey,’ NECROPHOBIC’s tenth studio album immediately asserts its separation from everything that has gone before. Colder and more biting than recent efforts, the album is full of brutish metal songs, hewn from unnamed obsidian horrors.

NECROPHOBIC has always been a dynamic and daring band. ‘In the Twilight Grey’ hammers the Swedish blackened death metal masters’ boldness home via some of the most hard-hitting and direct songs they have ever recorded. Equally, the new album is home to several songs that push NECROPHOBIC’s music down strange, new avenues. Fueled by the dark side, lead guitarist Sebastian Ramstedt understands the importance of retaining the essence of the band’s early days, even as the means of expression continues to evolve.

Yet again ‘In the Twilight Grey’ was produced, mixed and mastered by Fredrik Folkare (of death metal icons Unleashed) at Chrome Studios, Stockholm and engineered in close collaboration by Folkare and the band themselves. For the artwork they teamed up with Jens Rydén, another likeminded and highly regarded institution from the Swedish metal scene.

With over thirty years of active, nefarious service under their spikes and bulletbelts, NECROPHOBIC are undisputed legends of the death and black metal scene. Formed in 1989 by drummer Joakim Sterner, the Stockholm blackhearts propagated a singular and fearless vision from the very start.

Eschewing the self-conscious amateurism and primitive sonics that many of their peers held dear, NECROPHOBIC established a bold and vivid identity of their own, conjuring a densely melodic, but endlessly wicked take on macabre extreme metal that countless lesser bands have since emulated.

You can take a deep dive into their history via the rereleases of their entire back catalogue that Century Media Records made available in 2022 HERE.

Line-Up:
Johan Bergebäck – Rhythm guitar
Joakim Sterner – Drums
Sebastian Ramstedt – Lead guitar
Anders Strokirk – Vocals
Tobias Cristiansson – Bass

Grammy-nominated extreme power metal frontrunners DRAGONFORCE have unveiled their new single, “Astro Warrior Anthem”, together with an official music video! The breathtaking opening track from the epic new album, Warp Speed Warriors, out on March 15, 2024 via Napalm Records, lives up to DRAGONFORCE’s reputation as the world’s fastest band – captivating the listener from the very beginning and stunning with guitar solos delivered at an extreme speed.

DRAGONFORCE, led by guitar virtuosos Sam Totman and Herman Li, have an average of 10 million YouTube views per month and nearly 1.9M monthly Spotify listeners. Recently, the band was featured on the best-selling, award-winning VR game Beat Saber’s Original Soundtrack 6 with their exclusive track “Power of the Saber Blade”, the fastest song ever included in Beat Saber. Following their immensely successful North American tour last autumn with Amaranthe, NanowaR of Steel and Edge of Paradise, DRAGONFORCE will begin their European co-headline tour with Amaranthe and special guests Infected Rain next month. Secure your tickets now, pre-order the upcoming album and check out the video for “Astro Warrior Anthem” below!

Herman Li on “Astro Warrior Anthem”:
“Astro Warrior Anthem captures all the elements of DragonForce’s music, fused with an explosive music video. I am sure our fans will love it!”

Herman Li on Warp Speed Warriors:
“After four years of creative incubation, we are beyond excited to release what we believe to be our most ambitious and grandiose record yet. This album showcases multiple facets of our artistic abilities, and we invite metal aficionados from every corner of the genre to discover something captivating within its layers. We can’t wait to share this chapter of our musical journey with you, it’s going to be EPIC!”

Following the opening track “Astro Warrior Anthem”, the Zelda inspired track “Power of the Triforce” keeps the volume high before DRAGONFORCE temporarily slows it down for the ballad ”Kingdom of Steel”. Rapid drum patterns and thrilling guitars carry the catchy “Burning Heart”, while chanting “Space Marine Corp” features a strong and uplifting chorus. Electronic influences on grandiose power metal anthem “The Killer Queen” hypnotize, as singer Marc Hudson’s vocals reach for the skies. The last original track on Warp Speed Warriors, “Pixel Prison”, is followed by DRAGONFORCE’s unexpected yet brilliant cover of Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams (Taylor’s Version)” as a bonus track that wraps up the epic adventure as a bonus track on some formats.

Warp Speed Warriors was produced, mixed and mastered by Damien Rainaud at Mix Unlimited in Los Angeles, California with Sam Totman and Herman Li. This album is a matchless, innovative listening experience that continues the band’s legacy with songs that will, without a shadow of a doubt, become instant classics in and beyond the DRAGONFORCE canon.

SAXON Release New Video + Single ‘There’s Something In Roswell’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on January 18, 2024

Saxon unleash the video for “There’s Something In Roswell”, the second single from the band’s 24th studio album, Hell, Fire And Damnation out this week via Silver Lining Music.

Hell, Fire And Damnation sees the band investigate all areas of history and mystery amidst ten of their most confident and thunderously powerful songs and “There’s Something In Roswell” is a true treasure amidst the jewels, with the sort of expansive groove and embrace which deserves arenas. The track is about the enigmatic events surrounding the 1947 crash of an assumed Army weather balloon in Roswell New Mexico, referred to as ‘The Roswell incident’.

“There’s so much music out there about hell and the devil and the occult that I just thought it’s about time somebody wrote one about the battle just between good and evil!” explains Biff. “You can’t sing about the devil without singing about the good guy either, and the song basically says ‘make your choice’. We all have to make the choice, are we evil or are we good? The song’s about that fight.”

Listen To/Watch “Hell, Fire And Damnation” here

Hell, Fire And Damnation is a superlative British Heavy Metal classic. Biff delivers his richest vocals in years, Nigel Glockler and Nibbs Carter on drums and bass respectively lay down the rhythmic law with bombastic power, and the guitars of Doug Scarratt and Brian Tatler are fresh and fiery, a perfect complement to each other, carrying an overall energy and fury which will have fans salivating. Musically, Saxon bring it all to the table. There’s a furious tribute to actual heavy metal in the denim & leather coated super-sprint “Fire And Steel”, a wonderful nod to the NWOBHM’s birth in the electric mid-pace “Pirates Of The Airwaves” and the glorious frenetic assault of the title track “Hell, Fire And Damnation”.

Produced by Andy Sneap (Judas Priest, Exodus, Accept and Priest guitarist) and Biff Byford, with Sneap mixing and mastering, Hell, Fire And Damnation strides the perfect line between confident, current power, and gloriously irreverent flexing of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal muscle which Saxon co-created.

Hell, Fire And Damnation will be available in a variety of formats and pre-orders can be placed at this location

“Getting these shows in March 2024 with Judas Priest and Uriah Heep meant it made sense to push and get the album made faster,” says Biff, “so, we got on with it in haste and pulled it out of the bag. It was tricky, but I think it’s safe to say we managed it well.”
