AUSTRIAN DEATH MACHINE Returns with First New Album in 10 Years “Quad Brutal” + Drops New Music Video

After nearly 10 years of absence, the world’s most brutal band recently muscled their way back into the scene with a brand new single, “No Pain No Gain”, while teasing an upcoming new album. Today, AUSTRIAN DEATH MACHINE – the unmissable project helmed by As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis – is thrilled to finally announce their first new album in a decade, Quad Brutal, scheduled for release on February 23, 2024 via Napalm Records.

Featuring 10 tracks of heavyweight thrash-infused extremity and sprint-worthy speed, Quad Brutal will instantly have listeners coming back for more – ready for endless reps and skipping nothing (except maybe leg day). In historic AUSTRIAN DEATH MACHINE fashion, Quad Brutal is supported by a slew of guests on each track – in addition to vocal contributions from Dany Lambesis (HELLBØRN), tracks on Quad Brutal are supercharged by professional bodybuilders and vocalists Craig Golias and Rob Bailey, vocalist Ricky Hoover (Ov Sulfur, ex-Suffokate), guitar virtuosos Angel Vivaldi, Clayton King, Brandon Richter (Bleeding Through), Joey Alarcon (Wolves at the Gate, Born Through Fire) and more. Oh, and Ahhnold himself, of course!

Check out a taste of what’s to come on Quad Brutal now with another brand new single, “Don’t Be Lazy”, out today alongside a muscle-bound music video. Once again featuring guest vocals from pro-bodybuilder Craig Golias, the death-meets-metalcore burner explodes with colossal strength – beckoning all gym bros to pull their weight and give their all… or else!

Tim Lambesis says about “Don’t Be Lazy”:
“I can proudly say that ‘Don’t Be Lazy’ is the least brutal song on Quad Brutal because it’s still crushing, ramping up to 280 bpm, and features the largest human to ever scream into a microphone. Ahhnold wanted me to create an anthem that even the biggest idiots in the gym can remember so they don’t forget to re-rack their weights. Other than that, there’s NOTHING LEFT to say. Don’t put other people THROUGH STRUGGLE in re-racking your weights.”

AUSTRIAN DEATH MACHINE launched 15 years ago as a one man band, triumphing as the metal scene’s newest obsession with their 2008 debut album, Total Brutal. After releasing two more acclaimed albums in 2009 and 2014, the one man band did the impossible – they broke up. After a decade of regrowth and rebirth, and with the help of good friends by his side, Lambesis finally felt inspired to work on new music for the project, now emerging as Quad Brutal – chock full of the band’s most heavy, breakneck riffage, non-stop pummeling rhythms and Ahhnold-approved ferocity yet!

Absolute units like relentless debut single “No Pain No Gain”, hammering “Get Down”, apocalyptic harbinger “Judgment Day” and massive “I Never Quit” blister and groove with unmatched fury, while death-meets-metalcore burners like “Destroy The Machines”, “MeatGrinder” and “Don’t Be Lazy” explode with the colossal strength of Ahhnold himself. On the other end of the weight bench, large and in charge head-spinners like “Conquer” and “Hey Bro Can You Spot Me?” bring the brutality without sacrificing melody, and will have fans of Lambesis’ other projects turning their heads.

AUSTRIAN DEATH MACHINE is prepared to climb back to the top of their weight class – packing more punch than Mr Universe himself with Quad Brutal!

Lambesis says about Quad Brutal:
“Being commissioned by The Govournator to sonically encompass the brutality of 80s action, bodybuilding, and judgment day into one album is a task that comes with great responsibility. First, I had to make it brutal of course. Then, I had to make sure to include choruses so that people don’t forget the great wisdom of Ahhnold’s words. And since it’s the fourth album, I had to really work on my quad strength at the gym to someday be ready to carry the weight of the world from the album cover when it’s passed along to me someday. The result is an album that is much more diverse than any ADM album I’ve written, and in the spectrum of heavy, it is the most brutal by a long shot when you hear all 10 songs.”

TODAY WAS YESTERDAY Announce Debut Album, Feat. Alex Lifeson (Rush) & Robby Krieger (The Doors), Reveal Video for ‘Grace’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on December 6, 2023
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: TODAY WAS YESTERDAY. Leave a comment

TODAY WAS YESTERDAY and Music Theories Recordings / Mascot Label Group have announced the global release of the duo’s debut studio album on February 23, 2024.  Drummer, percussionist and programmer Ty Dennis and lead vocalist, primary songwriter, bassist, guitarist, pianist and programmer Angelo Barbera together are TODAY WAS YESTERDAY. On this collection of recordings, both Robby Krieger and Alex Lifeson contribute several performances.

Today, they present the lead official music video for “Grace.” You can watch the video HERE. The lead track is one of six on the album that features guitarist Alex Lifeson, and is a moody and imaginatively-arranged rocker that evokes 1970s prog-rock and Physical Graffiti-era Led Zeppelin. Lyrically, the song is about the fentanyl epidemic, and features some of Angelo’s most emotionally direct lyrics, including: “Swallowed addictions paid in souls/Timeless Crimes That Go Raging By.”

Pre-order the album here: https://lnk.to/todaywasyesterday

The duo is on a mission to create timeless music that transcends genres and generations. The debut is an imaginative, 10-song collection of prime modern classic rock. “We come from the days when pop musicians weren’t afraid to be good players,” says LA-based Ty Dennis. “Ty and I’ve played together as sidemen for 25 years, and we’ve always wanted to work together on original music. Today Was Yesterday is a dream come true for us,” shares Chicago-based Angelo Barbera.

Today Was Yesterday writes adventurous and smart pop-rock spiritually aligned with NIN, Japan and David Sylvian, Genesis and Peter Gabriel, Tears For Fears, Led Zeppelin, Steely Dan, and Rush. Its first album features intricate but catchy compositions replete with thrilling virtuosic musical passages, art-rock soundscapes, and meticulous production. Lyrically and conceptually, Today Was Yesterday specialize in the type of metaphorical and poetic lyrics favored by artists such as Genesis, Peter Gabriel, and Rush.

Angelo and Ty first met in 1997. They are longtime veterans of the rock n’ roll scene with a telepathic musical connection. Angelo has worked with The Motels featuring Martha Davis, Red Square Black, Lita Ford, and, most notably, The Robby Krieger Band and The Doors of the 21st Century. Ty previously played in The Motels featuring Martha Davis, where he met Angelo, and he later replaced the Police’s Stewart Copeland in The Doors of the 21st Century.

Prior to his successful hired gun career, Angelo was a band guy, and he has remained an active songwriter even as his bass playing earned him world-class gigs. Angelo’s song sketches became the basis of Today Was Yesterday’s debut album, though they evolved considerably when Ty added his musicianship and artistic vision.

Tracklisting

  1. Grace (feat. Alex Lifeson)
  2. A Louder Silence (feat. Alex Lifeson)
  3. On My Own (feat. Alex Lifeson)
  4. I Take All (feat. Ed Roth)
  5. My Dog Is My God (feat. Alex Lifeson)
  6. Faceless Faraway Song (feat. Alex Lifeson)
  7. If I Fall (Silly Games) (feat. Robby Krieger)
  8. Rukus
  9. Borrowed
  10. My New Low (feat. Alex Lifeson)

Initially, Today Was Yesterday was going to have a more conventional lineup presentation. “I tried out lead singers, but, at times, it was comical, like a SNL skit—the LSD, lead singer’s disease, was too much for me,” Angelo says laughing. The pair decided to create as a self-contained unit, self-producing and playing all the instruments with Angelo handling all the lead vocals.

The band is joined on this debut by some very special guests. Over the years, Ty had been in house bands for all-star concerts in which Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson was a part of.  In 2022, Ty gave Alex a lift back to his hotel after a rehearsal, and he played him some early versions of a couple Today Was Yesterday songs. Alex was a fan of what he heard and said he would love to play on some of the tracks. “We’re honored to have Alex joining us on 6 of the album’s 10 songs.”

Robby Krieger joins the party for the bluesy, “If I Fall (Silly Games),” which features his one-of-a-kind slide guitar playing. “Jim Morrison freaked out when he heard Robby play slide, and wanted him to play it all the time, and I can see why. His slide playing is so emotional—it makes my hair stand up,” Ty says.

Today Was Yesterday has been a deeply satisfying creative adventure for Ty and Angelo. As they gear up to perform live in the summer of 2024, the guys look back on their career and the road ahead with thoughtfulness and gratitude. “I’m normally helping someone else achieve their goals—which I’m always happy to do—but this band gives me a chance to play exactly what I want to play, and I love that,” Ty says. Angelo adds: “This music is one hundred percent pure and honest. It doesn’t sound like anything contemporary.  It is truly Today Was Yesterday.”

INFECTED RAIN Drop Gripping Music Video for Heavy New Single ‘Because I Let You’

Modern progressive metal unit INFECTED RAIN are back to own the new year with their multifaceted upcoming sixth album, TIME, out February 9, 2024 via Napalm Records. Following their eerie, dynamic single “NEVER TO RETURN”, the band returns today with the heart-wrenching stunner “BECAUSE I LET YOU” – a menacing progressive-meets-nu-metal anthem with intense lyricism and an equally powerful, moving music video.

Following their most successful album to date, 2022’s Ecdysis – which garnered prime media acclaim, hundreds of thousands of streams and views, and debuted in the Top 20 on the US Current Hard Music charts – INFECTED RAIN climbs even higher with TIME. The album was once again produced, mixed and mastered by Valentin Voluta, and combines the deft talents of returning members Vidick (guitars, cover artist), Eugene Voluta (drums) and famed frontwoman Lena Scissorhands (vocals), plus introduces new member Alice Lane (bass) to the fold.

INFECTED RAIN says about “BECAUSE I LET YOU”:

“In ‘BECAUSE I LET YOU’, we delve into the paradox of love’s pain, exploring how our deepest affections can lead to our greatest wounds. It’s a raw reflection on the vulnerability we expose in love, and how sometimes those we trust most can wield our secrets and fears against us. This song isn’t just about the struggles in relationships; it’s a mirror to the courage it takes to acknowledge and voice this complex reality.”

INFECTED RAIN exercise their trademarks with TIME, tastefully accenting the introspective musical journey with effectively-placed progressive, electronic and even nu-metal features amid ethereal passages.

INFECTED RAIN says about TIME:

“TIME is not just an album, it’s a journey, a testament to our evolution as INFECTED RAIN.

Time isn’t just a measure; it’s an ever-flowing river, a constant reminder of our fleeting moments and enduring legacies.

This subject resonates deeply throughout the record, offering to you a chance to reflect on the past, embrace the present, and dream of the future.

With TIME, we invite you to experience the phenomena of time with us, in all its haunting beauty and raw power.”

First track “BECAUSE I LET YOU” bursts in with undeniable energy, boasting aggressive lyrics and Lena Scissorhands’ swift, menacing delivery, before previously released first single “DYING LIGHT” marches with subterranean heaviness and rhythmic grooves beneath eerie vocals and keys, and even snaps into an EDM passage, showcasing the dynamic delivery of the band in 2024. Melodic ode to self-empowerment “LIGHTHOUSE” then crashes in to juxtapose soft verses and intense auditory shifts. Album standout and djent driven “VIVARIUM” warns of society’s fickle freedoms as Lena Scissorhands delivers some of the album’s most hair-raising screams amid a haunting, ominous atmosphere, while fast-paced burners like “THE ANSWER IS YOU” and “ENMITY” flash between various EDM, synthwave and even drum and bass brushed transits amid bludgeoning rhythms. Intense “GAME OF BLAME” explores themes of hypocrisy and emotional pain delved out by those we love while boasting one of the album’s most searing breakdowns, while tracks like “PANDEMONIUM” and  “UNPREDICTABLE” detail the uncontrollable energy of the future and past, respectively – boasting lofty, angelic verses with hard-hitting guitars and punching drums. Italian/English-language journey “PAURA” closes out the album with a path to self-discovery – beckoning the listener to understand that we limit ourselves with our own fears, and must harness the pain to overcome. TIME ends in a state of calm with ambient finisher “A SECOND OR A THOUSAND YEARS” – drawing the curtains closed on yet another fantastic, experimental expedition by rising stars INFECTED RAIN.
