2005 founded metal band KAOS KREW from Finland has returned to its roots as a one man band with its upcoming sixth album “Blackout”. The full length will be released at the end of 2023. The songs are made and performed by the bands founder Ulf Skog accompanied with a number of visiting session musicians.

Listen to the single on music services: https://push.fm/fl/keaoskrew-electricmasquerade

“The song deals with the world of social media and the fact that almost all of us constantly have our faces stuck in some kind of screen. Anyone can be anyone there on social media. The song also deals with the fact that the technology that has been developed to help us humans has its flip side.” Ulf Skog tells about the song’s theme.

CORRODED Release New Single ‘Rain’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on October 3, 2023
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: Corroded. Leave a comment

CORRODED is a heavy metal band from Ånge, Sweden. The break came in 2009 with the song Time And Again and debut album ‘Eleven Shades of Black’. Since then they’ve released four more albums, toured relentlessly (including several European tours, both on their own and as support for bands like Airbourne), had the théme song for the Swedish TV show Survivor (Expedition Robinson in Sweden) and music in the globally popular video game Battlefield. Their latest (5th) album ‘Bitter‘ was released in 2019, was followed by a European tour and ended the year with a slight change in line-up (long time member Tomas Andersson left the band).

As for most bands, the pandemic hit hard, but the band dug themselves into a black hole and recorded their sixth album – ‘Plague’. They comment:

”-We’ve got 5 ”children”…each and everyone as much important as the other ones…but this one is our lovechild, our very special ”late bloomer” or ”trailing child”, born out of the anxiety and boredom of the plague…and, except from mastering, all done by ourselves…welcome to the dark soul of CORRODED..enjoy the ride..”

The third and last taste of the new album is the single ‘Rain‘. The singer/guitarist Jens Westin writes:

– “Rain is like beauty and the beast. On one hand you have these simple yet beautiful vocal parts that almost rock you to sleep like a lullaby, and on the other hand you have a hellhound that will chase you to death. In short it is a song by CORRODED.”

CORRODED‘s new single Rain is released October 13 on Despotz Records, their new album Plague is released November 17th.

TEMIC Release Epic Closer ‘Mothallah’ from New Album

Posted by tarjavirmakari on October 3, 2023
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: TEMIC. Leave a comment

TEMIC are prog’s new supergroup, but all four members navigated quite the career maze to reach this point. These guys have played with Devin Townsend, Mike Portnoy’s Shattered Fortress, Neal Morse, SHINING and Maraton. It’s fitting then that their debut album is layered with twists and turns.

Today, TEMIC are releasing the album’s epic closer. Watch the video for “Mothallah”, a seven-minute epic that never stops reaching for the stars.

‘Terror Management Theory’ comes out November 17.

“Terror Management Theory” puts a proggy and positive spin on a new psychological theory. Instead of falling into despair over thoughts about our own mortality, the album finds a sense of purpose by recognizing that life is too precious not to live every moment to the max. Its grand closing statement,”Mothallah”, presents TEMIC at their peak.

At just under eight minutes, the song has room for  twinkling keys, riffing synths, zero-gravity double bass kicks, two choirs and a classic arena rock solo that will have you down on both knees shredding your air guitar. “We will fight until the rays of light stand high”, sings Fredrik Bergersen with such booming, keening conviction, that even a nihilist would have no choice but to believe that this band is truly divine.

Here’s what TEMIC have to say about their new single:

“The lyrics in ‘Mothallah’ come from the personified perspective of our inner survival-seeking selves, encouraging us to reconcile and reconnect with our inner strength and self-confidence, especially when facing great challenges or fighting fears.

The choir brings to life a sense of community and belonging, realizing that not only as individuals, but also as a species, do we all face challenges and ‘fight through the darkest night…’

For this self-produced video, we wanted to emphasize that the band members come from very different backgrounds, nationalities and ethnicities. Even when living thousands of kilometers away, it is music that bring us all together.”

Check out the playlist that the prog supergroup update each month on Spotify. The September edition features GoGo Penguin, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Periphery, Mastodon, Gojira, Infected Mushroom and Vangelis.

Introducing TEMIC—prog’s newest, most ambitious, and most adrenaline-fueled act. TEMIC melds the creative minds of keyboardist and sound designer Diego Tejeida (Devin Townsend, Mike Portnoy’s Shattered Fortress, ex-Haken), guitarist Eric Gillette (The Neal Morse Band, Mike Portnoy’s Shattered Fortress), drummer Simen Sandnes (SHINING, Arkentype), and vocalist Fredrik Klemp (Maraton, 22).

The origins of TEMIC date back to 2017, when Tejeida and Gillette toured the world as band members of Mike Portnoy’s Shattered Fortress. From the very first chords they exchanged, their musical chemistry both on and off stage was undeniable, leading them to discuss the prospect of starting a new band together. Unfortunately, conflicting tour and recording commitments forced them to turn their attention elsewhere for years—that is, until the world came to a standstill in 2020, and Tejeida called Gillette to ask a fateful question:
“Remember how we said we should make music together? Well, how about now?”

Thus, the first demos for what would later become TEMIC’s 2023 debut album, Terror Management Theory, began to emerge. Within a few weeks after that initial phone call, the musical vision of TEMIC had become clear: Let’s create progressive music that is heavily influenced by high-energy electronic music, but arranged and orchestrated for a 5-piece modern prog rock/metal band—where, at last, the pulse can be the focus, and the vocal melody can be king.

Eager to join forces with the very best bandmates, Tejeida and Gillette first summoned the rhythmic power of their friend and drummer Sandnes. With characteristic enthusiasm, Sandnes seized the opportunity, prepared to contribute his percussive prowess as the heartbeat of TEMIC. When it came time to find the singer that would carry TEMIC’s melodies to new heights, Sandnes recommended vocal powerhouse Klemp, whose emotive delivery and unmatched intensity left no doubt that he was destined to be the voice of TEMIC. Finally, to round out the rhythm section of Terror Management Theory, dynamic bassist Jacob Umansky (Intervals) was invited on board as a guest player, gracing the album with an unrivaled groove and a signature low-end sound.

Together, this mammoth lineup is TEMIC, a high-energy, electronic-inspired, modern melodic prog metal band for the next generation.

Line-up:
Fredrik Bergersen (Maraton, 22) – Vocals
Eric Gillette (The Neal Morse Band, Mike Portnoy’s Shattered Fortress) – Guitars and Backing Vocals
Simen Sandnes (Shining, Arkentype)  – Drums and Percussion
Diego Tejeida (Devin Townsend, Mike Portnoy’s Shattered Fortress, ex-Haken) – Keyboards and Sound Design

Recording Studio: Drums and vocals recorded at Top Floor Studios (Gothenburg, Sweden)
Producer: Produced by TEMIC. Drums and vocals engineered by Jakob Herrmann Gothenburg, Sweden)
Mix/Mastering: Mixed and mastered by Rich Mouser at The Mouse House (Los Angeles, USA)

Guest musicians:
Jacob Umansky (USA) – Bass guitar on the whole album
Mosaic Gospel Choir (Norway) – Mothallah

SILVEROLLER Release Stomping New Rocker ‘Hold’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on October 3, 2023

SILVEROLLER have released their stomping new rocker ‘Hold’, out now on Golden Robot Records.

Introducing the sound of Silveroller.

Hi-energy rock n’ roll played with heart and soul, played tight but loose, with the kind of swagger you just don’t hear anymore. The band’s lead single “Hold” is led by a driving drum intro, a deep, aggressive grooving riff and punchy bass line which leads to a honey and gravel vocal. The song acts as a rallying call for those that believe that the most important thing in life is the freedom to be free, with subtle undertones of protest songs from days gone by. Cut live on the studio floor by the band, with all the fire and aggression this music deserves, ‘Hold’ has the right amount of polish, but keeps all the live feel of a raw rock n’ roll outfit.

Stream/buy ‘Hold’ here: https://orcd.co/silveroller-hold

Silveroller, the new band featuring Aaron Keylock, is ready to hit the ground running with new music, a new label and a growing level of excitement and anticipation! Silveroller have big plans for the coming months with new single ‘Hold’ out on 29th September and shows later in Autumn, both guaranteed to make their mark in a big way with old and new fans.

About the decision to put together this new formation, Jonnie states:“To me a band name was the natural next step, an evolution. We wanted to step away a little from what had come pre lockdown, the people around us at the time told us a new band, new name wasn’t possible. We believe that, not only was it very possible, but also a necessity to become what we are. The name really came from a list of Western movies I was looking at, Silver Lode, The Silver Rider, Three Silver Dollars, movies like that all sounded really cool to me, Silver kept popping up! The ‘Roller’ part came from us wanting to make it sound like it was moving, like one of those big old steam trains, or a Cadillac rolling around Chicago in the 1950s, something that would bring that travelling rock n’ roll circus to life and get it on the road. This isn’t just a band of mates thrown together from the same town, this is a band of folks from all over the country who cover miles to play together, dedicated to the music and each other, with no fixed abode. None of us knew each other before the band.

The future is ours to take really. We’ll be forever grateful to the people at Golden Robot Records for putting so much faith in us and letting us follow our instincts and belief in ourselves, especially when people around us previously had told us otherwise. Now it’s on us to deliver the dream, a rock n roll band that lives by its music. The songs are everything, and we want to take those songs around the world to the rock n’ roll starved folks. We can’t wait to get the record out and let everybody know who we are and what we stand for. If you’re a fan of your rock n’ roll outfits being covered in denim, patchouli and sweat, come and join the travelling rock n roll circus.”

With their own inimitable blend of high energy, rock n roll stylings, Silveroller throw their music out with a low slung, loose hipped swagger that is seriously infectious and utterly irresistible. The evolution of Silveroller is here, and every bit as fabulous as expected from these hugely talented musicians!

ON DISPLAY Unveil Powerful Debut Single + Lyric Video ‘Stuck’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on October 3, 2023
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: ON DISPLAY. Leave a comment

ON DISPLAY, the formidable electronic rock and post-hardcore duo, unveil their soul-stirring debut release, Stuck. Comprising of vocalist and guitarist Ryan Kopman and drummer Greg Groothedde, the band has harnessed their unique musical identities to craft a compelling fusion of melodic rock and metalcore, accentuated with a touch of screamo.

Born from the shared passion for music, Ryan and Greg bring a wealth of experience and creativity honed through their individual musical journeys. The convergence of these two exceptional talents has given birth to a sound that is both powerful and deeply emotive.

Stuck is a poignant exploration of the complexities of love and self-awareness. The song delves into the labyrinthine nature of relationships and the pitfalls that await when we lose sight of ourselves. It speaks to the vulnerability we experience when we allow others to infiltrate our hearts and minds to the point where we lose our own identity.

The guys share their thoughts on “Stuck,” stating, “When We are not self-aware, we make it really easy for others to corrupt our space and our minds to the point where we lose our identity. This song is about being trapped in situations that we are too absorbed in to realise the damage it causes us. As if our voice has been silenced and we are powerless to break free until we can untangle from the mess were in..”

Accompanying the release of Stuck is a visually arresting lyric video that brings the song’s emotional depth to life. The video adds a visual dimension to the lyrical narrative, allowing viewers to immerse themselves in the profound message that On Display seeks to convey.

THE WRECKERY Reform + Release New Single ‘Smack Me Down’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on October 2, 2023

Emerging from the post-punk era of the 1980s, the iconic band THE WRECKERY is making a formidable comeback, poised to rekindle the Australian music scene with their latest single, “Smack Me Down,” hitting the airwaves on September 29th. This track serves as a potent forerunner of their upcoming album, ‘Fake is Forever,’ slated for release via Golden Robot Records on November 3rd.

Crafted by the songwriting talents of Hugo Race and Alannah Hill, “Smack Me Down” stands as the album’s bold and unapologetic opener, delving into the ironic aftermath of youthful indiscretions. The song is delivered with an explosive energy that epitomizes The Wreckery’s distinctive musical style, marking their return with fervor.

Stream/buy “Smack Me Down” HERE

THE WRECKERY are a Melbourne based formed by Hugo Race and Ed Clayton-Jones on their return home from tenure with Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds in Europe and the U.S.A. Robin Casinader joined on drums having played with Hugo and Ed in the art punk outfit Plays with Marionettes. Nick Barker and Charles Todd finished the line up on bass and sax respectively.

THE WRECKERY were a big hit on the live circuit and had a large and loyal following. They were infamous at a time when heroin chic was de rigueur and Burroughs and Bukowski topped our reading lists. THE WRECKERY became the poster boys for the dark side, tapping the seam of the old delta blues and the Flannery O’Connoresque imagery of a toxic, dilapidated world.

Having just completed what would be their last and best album “Laying Down Law”, the wheels fell off and the band split ending several years of staggering wild live shows and amazing songwriting.

Nick Barker went on to a successful solo career, and Race, Clayton-Jones, and Casinader remained active in music with a variety of projects. In 2008, Memorandum Records issued Past Imperfect, a two-CD anthology drawn from the group’s catalog, and The Wreckery reunited to play a handful of shows in support.
