Progressive trailblazers Enslaved today release their acclaimed seventeenth studio album, Mið (Nuclear Blast Records).
In celebration, the band have released the visualiser for focus track ‘I Am Ice’, featuring Sami musician Johan Sara Jr.
Guitarist Ivar Bjørnson states: “Mið is out, and I am immensely proud to share it with you. An album exploring the idea of ‘centre’ raises a question: what are we moving towards? For me, that is the quest: following an idea far enough that it begins to challenge your reasons for following it. Mythology, sound and what it means to be human keep giving us things to explore. It feels good to be here, with this record.”
Of the collaboration with Johan Sara Jr., he adds: “‘I Am Ice’ is a world of its own, with the seeds of the whole album hidden within it. Johan Sara’s joik opens a space where different ages and distant places seem to exist at once. Guitars, voices and percussive textures move through that space, with all the tension and friction their meeting brings. Some of what happens here finds its counterpart later on Mið. I like the thought of returning to the song after hearing the whole record and discovering that something familiar has taken on another meaning.”
Vocalist/bassist Grutle Kjellson adds: “I remember struggling a bit to come up with a logical vocal arrangement, so I decided to do something I rarely do: write the lyrics in their entirety without adapting them to the music. Ivar had a few lines lying around, and so had I. At the time, I was also trying to study the metrics, verse structure and origins of the Old Norse skaldic poetry. For some strange reason, I decided to try to create something resembling these ancient verses in the lyrics, and, fascinatingly enough, the lines seemed to take shape quite naturally as I went along! I shan’t claim this is written 100% like a skaldic poem, but still heavy inspired by such.
“The song is about a journey through personal darkness and the process of rising again. Once the lyrics were finished, the arrangement suddenly made sense as well – or at least, it made sense by Enslaved standards.”
Throughout their 35-year journey, across 17 albums, the Norwegian vanguard have continually redefined the boundaries of progressive black metal, weaving Old Norse histories and sacred traditions into complex modern soundscapes. With their latest offering, Enslaved turn their gaze toward the fundamental concept of the axis: the middle, the origin, and the infinite reach of the present moment.
To celebrate the arrival of Mið, Enslaved will hit the road across the UK and Europe in February 2027 as a co-headline with Iceland’s Sólstafir, with support coming from Norway’s Gaahls Wyrd.

Never faltering, Norway’s iconic Enslaved continue to exist as one of the most original and dependable components in our scene’s indestructible backbone. Possessing the reputation as one of the most riveting live acts around, they never fail to offer us talent of the highest calibre, always doing justice to their signature black/progressive sound. Enslaved was formed in 1991 by Ivar Bjørnson and Grutle Kjellson, releasing their first demo Yggdrasill in the summer of 1992, their legendary mini-album Hordanes Land coming out in 1993, and with their debut full-length Vikingligr Veldi arriving in the spring of 1994.
It’s a rare and remarkable feat that 35 years and now 17 albums in, Enslaved’s horizons still continue to expand. Every stage of the Bergen band’s evolution, every new phase entered, has felt like an organic act of discovery and renewal. Their journey has been at once a commitment to a promise that found its embryonic form in the Norwegian black metal scene they emerged from, and a willingness to challenge both orthodoxy and themselves from the off to make that potential manifest.
Enslaved’s new album, Mið, an Old Norse word for ‘centre’, or ‘middle’, marks another departure, and another new beginning. The band have always dealt in states of transition, nor least on the thematically linked, mythology-steeped rites of passage that were 2020’s Utgard and 2023’s Heimdal. What lay beyond, however, was… unexpected.
Mið is an album that sheds light on harmonies and dialogues embedded all around us: between the ways of the past, and how they can bring enlightenment to the present, between small kernels of truth and their ability to project onto the most universal on canvases, and between band members relying on instinct and each other to create a record that galvanises on every possible level.
Polish blackened death metallers AZARATH unveil “Pyre Dominion” – the second single lifted from their highly anticipated new studio album, “Scorn Eternal” (out November 20 via Agonia Records).
Stream the song below:
“Scorn Eternal” conjures a cataclysm of sinister blast beats and possessed riffs, shattering dogma in a blistering onslaught of sacrilegious death metal. Unyielding, malicious, and executed with surgical precision, the band continues to fuel the black flame with their line-up intact & fit for sonic carnage: drummer Inferno (from the ranks of Behemoth), guitarist Bart (Armageddon, Damnation), bassist Peter (ex-Lost Soul) and vocalist Skullripper (Embrional, Hellfuck). This time, the album is enriched with an epic feel and new elements that were not present in earlier recordings.
“Scorn Eternal” was recorded at Sound of Records Studio between December 2025 & May 2026, and mixed at Studio Wieloślad in June 2026. The album was engineered, mixed and mastered by Haldor Grunberg (Satanic Audio). The cover artwork was painted by Marta Promińska (Hypnagogic Art).
AZARATH crept from the shadows over two decades ago and stands as a pillar of uncompromising Polish death metal, often touted as a demonic mutation of Krisiun and Immolation. The band has spent seven acclaimed albums – most recently 2020’s “Saint Desecration” – decimating stages across Europe and building a ferocious reputation for relentless, blasphemous brutality.

We last left off with the great success—both with audiences and critics—of “Fragments”, the debut album from MINDIVIDE. The project was born in 2020, bringing together five eclectic musicians from Italy and Germany, anchored by the beautiful voice of Rosanna, who serves as the perfect unifying element.
Now, following months of continuous songwriting and a few lineup changes, MINDIVIDE has announced that their new album “Grey Dunes” due out in early 2027 via My Kingdom Music.
Here is a sneak peek at the band’s second album, in the words of Rosanna: “We are really proud to present our new work.”Grey Dunes”, which features 12 tracks, represents an evolution from our previous release— musically it is more mature and it is more courageous in its arrangements. Our distinctive sound—a blend of Gothic and Progressive—remains instantly recognizable, yet the songwriting has become more various, with dark, driving riffs balanced against soothing, dreamlike atmospheres. This time, we benefited from the masterful production of Elnor Studio; Mattia Stancioiu handled the artwork and, notably, the drum parts, prior to Valentino Anziani joining the lineup. We can’t wait to share this new creation—born from our inner worlds—with all of you, and we thank My Kingdom Music for their continued faith in us”.
“Grey Dunes” reveals a mature band able of crafting complex yet incredibly captivating musical landscapes. The album evokes—through subtle, lingering echoes—the spirit of bands such as THE GATHERING, DELAIN, KATATONIA, FOREVER STILL, and OPETH, while also incorporating folk elements reminiscent of PENTANGLE. The initial impact is absolutely incredible—emotionally devastating. From the very first listen, you can feel the essence and power conveyed in these new songs.
MINDIVIDE are ready and eager to share their art with you, and with “Grey Dunes”, they will take you into extraordinary territories.
BURNING CREATION was formed in Żywiec in early 2022 by the Klimond brothers, following the suspension of Haures. A year later, the band debuted with the “Never Dead Nation” EP, followed by the well-received debut album “Sea of Dead Bodies”, which led to numerous live shows across Poland.
While the band’s early work was firmly rooted in melodic death metal and viking metal, BURNING CREATION have been steadily forging their own musical identity. Their new material “Breath of Fire” moves towards a more uncompromising, at times old-school form of death metal, drawing from the traditions of the Swedish scene. Heaviness, rawness and directness now take centre stage, while melodic and viking metal elements increasingly serve as accents rather than the foundation of the songs.
Echoes of Unleashed, Dark Tranquillity and Hypocrisy can be heard in the band’s music, but these influences serve as a starting point for a distinctive style combining classic death metal aggression with a dark atmosphere and epic storytelling.
Upcoming studio album titled “Breath of Fire” continues the story of warriors returning from beyond the grave to avenge what was lost when humanity abandoned its ancient beliefs and values. Having risen from their tombs and crossed a sea of dead bodies, the Undead Nation begins its final march to reduce civilisation to ashes. Humanity’s last stronghold is destined to fall before the army of darkness.
The album features seven new original songs and an atmospheric intro. Its story draws heavily from Norse mythology, exploring the final battle between Vidar and Fenrir, the underwater realm of Ægir and Ran, and the land of eternal frost awaiting those who did not die in battle.
The drums and bass were recorded at Sound Stone Studio in collaboration with Paweł Kurowski. Electric guitars and vocals were recorded at Marek Stefaniak’s studio, who also handling the final mix and mastering. The cover artwork was created by Damian Bydliński, whose previous credits include collaborations with Lucifer’s Friend and Riverside.
“Breath of Fire” will be released digitally and on CD on November 13, 2026 through Via Nocturna. The album is available for pre-order at official webstore.
Following “Nothing’s Gonna Save You”, the Silesian band now unveil “Cannibal Viking,” the second single from their upcoming album “Breath of Fire”.
Marek Klimonda comments on Burning Creation’s new track: “At first glance, it might seem like simply a song about cannibalism. Beneath this gruesome surface, however, lies a story of moral decay and just how far a person is willing to go to survive, even if the price is losing the last remnants of their humanity.“

Finnish blackened gothic/doom metal trio SIDEWALK MAFIA announce their signing to Octopus Rising / Argonauta Records, alongside the release of their new single “To Go”, the first of two tracks set to arrive through the label.
Formed in Helsinki in 2021, SIDEWALK MAFIA combine crushing low-tuned guitars, haunting melodies and oppressive atmospheres. Following two full-length albums, including 2024’s Soulcrushers, the trio have toured extensively across Finland, the UK and the Baltic states, building a reputation for immersive and powerful live performances.
With “To Go”, the band embrace a renewed creative direction, introducing a fresh production approach while retaining the dark, melancholic character at the heart of their sound.
“‘To Go’ has a fresh kind of melody, which is combined with a melancholic atmosphere and a story that isn’t exactly uplifting,” the band explains. “It creates a world where you might have deceptively good or even great vibes, even though an unknown cold void awaits just around the corner. The tempo of the song is the driving force and tries to keep us out of calamity, but it’s not safe in the dark.”
Rather than following up Soulcrushers with another full-length album, SIDEWALK MAFIA have opted to release individual tracks, allowing their evolving sound to unfold one song at a time.
“The upcoming singles represent exactly what we want to sound like right now. Feels like a new chapter is beginning for us as a band. We can’t wait for the upcoming releases, and to play the new songs live.”
With “To Go”, SIDEWALK MAFIA set the tone for this new chapter, balancing melodic drive with an unsettling darkness that lingers long after the song ends.
“To Go” is out now via Octopus Rising / Argonauta Records.
