““Seeds Of Sorrow” was inspired by the mass shootings in America. In fact, as I was writing the song, almost every day they were talking about another killing on the news. Whether it was a drive-by shooting done by gang members, killing innocent people or children who just happened to be caught in the crossfire or some crazed individual who goes out and kills for the sport of it.” ATROPHY Frontman Brian Zimmerman comments.

“Gun violence is out of control. Our government is sitting idle because of the second amendment. The NRA pays a lot of people a lot of money to let this issue sit. Italy’s death-black metal force HIEROPHANT unleash their live album, “Gateway to the Abyss”, out on March 29th 2024 via Dusktone Records.

Recorded during their acclaimed concert at France’s Hellfest in 2023, “Gateway to the Abyss” offers a fresh take on the band’s latest album, “Death Siege” (Season Of Mist). To HIEROPHANT, Hellfest was a monumental occasion, where these musicians and an enormous production came together to forge a frantic and vigorous spectacle.

The songs remain the same, but captured in the urgency of a live environment, they appear even rawer and heavier than they were originally, and the maturation of the last couple of years spent on the road, following the conquest of several prestigious stages (MetalDays, Party.San and many others), makes them more savage.

INNER SANCTUM Unveil Lyric Video for Second Single ‘Era of the Idols’

Freiburg, Germany -based Death Metal act INNER SANCTUM has unleashed another intense taste of the band’s upcoming fourth album, entitled “The Great Odd Ones”, scheduled to be released on March 22nd. Following the release of the first single “Abgott Death Kult”, INNER SANCTUM follows up today with a lyric video for the album’s opening track “Era of the Idols”.

“Era of the Idols is the opening track for a reason,” says the band. “Not only does it set the pace for this album, it also tells the story of the very beginnings of the Great Odd Ones’ lore. The reign of the endless sea lurks upon humankind. Agonizing, yet enticing for those who are faced with the divine atrocities. The contrast between the stampeding almost march-like guitars during the verse and the doom impending heavy chorus underlines this struggle musically.“

Since their formation in 2004, INNER SANCTUM has been forging a unique path in the Death Metal scene. The upcoming concept album “The Great Odd Ones” delves into the eerie realm of sea gods known as “The Great Odd Ones”, weaving a narrative that explores their terrifying influence on our world. Finnish progressive melancholic metal band Lucidity‘s second single, ‘Threads To Follow’ delves into the profound essence of the upcoming concept album, blindly follow the direction given, without questioning why. This raises the central question of the forthcoming album, ‘Escherian’: What if you don’t want to follow the prescribed path? GYPSY PISTOLEROS are delighted to confirm a management deal with Karl Wilcox and Siren Management.

Karl is known as being the thunderous drummer behind the legends Diamond Head, he knows the trials and tribulations of the big league from a musicians point of view, his hands on experience has already proved invaluable.   His many years with Diamond Head and working in the industry have made him the ideal person to help bring the Pistoleros into the future.

Supporting Karl in his lead is Siren CEO Ace Trump. Ace has a fantastic reputation and track record as a manager in the rock business helping steer the careers of many legendary bands that has included Thin Lizzy, Saxon, Europe, Uriah Heep, and Stiff Little Fingers amongst many others. As a result, Ace has since become an expert in the field of artist management.

We are thrilled that Karl and Ace are taking on the management of GYPSY PISTOLEROS as we go forward into a bright future. They will be joining the present SIREN roster of Diamond Head, The Residents and Elegant Weapons.

In an increasingly difficult music business, it is a comfort to put our career in the hands of such an experienced management team and we very much look forward to adventures together in the coming years.

After announcing their new album “VIII”, Norwegian progsters VICINITY will now release a new digital single – the second – from the upcoming record. “Distance” is the chosen song this time and it will be released in an official video too. A direct, riff-based track, with a verse almost leaning into synthwave. The lyrical theme dwells on some of the darker tendencies of the human psyche. The song leans both into traditional prog metal bands like Threshold, as well as newer acts like Haken.

Out of Trondheim, on the cold shores of Norway, Vicinity has been crafting their mix of progressive metal, melodies and sophisticated rhythm patterns since 2006. Now reaching their third studio album, the five-piece has reached the perfect mix in their sound. “VIII” is a mature progressive metal album, with a fresh approach to composition.

Putting new influences to work in their already highly rich melting pot of references, “VIII” is a collection of progressive metal songs where the Norwegians drifted to a heavier, more concise sound than in the previous releases. The final result can please traditional prog fans of bands such as Threshold, as well as followers of newer acts such as Haken.

Mixing duties in “VIII” were handled by Øyvind Voldmo Larsen (Seventh Wonder, Circus Maximus, Withem) and mastering was done at Fascination Street Studios by Tony Lindgren (Ihsahn, James LaBrie, Leprous, Opeth).

Vicinity was founded in 2006 by Kim-Marius H. Olsen, Frode Lillevold and Kristian Nergård. Vocalist Alexander K. Lykke soon joined the blend making the first complete lineup. With the EP “Diffusion of Innovation”, the band’s first official release, Vicinity found its true style, writing longer, more technical progressive compositions.

In 2012 the band recorded their debut full-length album, “Awakening”, making this the debut recording of the new bass player Pierre Schmidt-Melbye, who joined the band following Nergård’s departure in 2009. Reidulf Wormdal joined the recording as a session keyboard player. The album was mixed by André Alvinzi and mastered by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios, and was released by Indie Distribution and Pug-Nose Records in the fall 2013.

In 2015 Vicinity went to work with their new album “Recurrence” which was released by Mighty Music in 2017. The drums were recorded at Skarp Studio, known for producing the drums for bands like Triosphere and Keep of Kalessin. Christer-André Cederberg, known for mixing Nine and Havoc for Circus Maximus and several releases by Anathema was enlisted to mix the album. Jens Bogren once again handled mastering duties. Following the release, Vicinity played concerts in Trondheim and Oslo, and was booked to play festivals like Prøvesprengning and Totsås Rock.

Preparations for the upcoming album started in 2020 at Skansen Lydstudio, but further progress was impaired partly by Covid and the fact that, after 15 years in the band, Lykke decided in 2022 to pursue other interests and in agreement with the band decided to part ways. Vicinity tried out vocalist Erling Malm (Articulus, Endolith) at a live show in Trondheim, and decided then and there that he would be the vocalist going forward, and he immediately started working on vocals for “VIII”, adding more diversity to the singing department of the band.

“VIII” will be released on double LP (black vinyl), CD and digital formats via Uprising Records on March 8th, 2024.
