Finnish Oulu-based Death Meallers BLÅÅDPALT are set to release their new EP Caedite Eos on June 1st 2023 via Inverse Records. The first single and lyric video Martyrdom 101 is released today.
The band comments the single: “Martyrdom 101 is a song about the mentality of ”playing the victim”, which has become a phenomenon especially in the Western societies. People climb on the cross for the most bizarre reasons. The use of common sense is forbidden and people are unable to question their ideologies. Those, who do so, are condemned…or get canceled. This track is a straightforward metal song with a groovy chorus.”
Blåådpalt is a metal band from Oulu, Finland. The band was formed in 2017. Blåådpalt released their first promotional EP Demo(n) in December 2018. The debut album “Sliced to perfection” was released in 2020 by Inverse Records. Blåådpalt continues their co-operation with Inverse Records by releasing an EP “Caedite Eos” in 2023.

Christchurch, New Zealand’s BLINDFOLDED AND LED TO THE WOODS are today premiering new single and music video Caustic Burns via Decibel.Caustic Burns is the third and final pre-release track to be taken from BLINDFOLDED AND LED TO THE WOODS‘ upcoming fourth album, Rejecting Obliteration, which is due out on May 19 via Prosthetic Records.
Speaking on the premiere, Ben Atkinson (guitar) comments: “Caustic Burns utilizes dissonance, it’s grinding pace and a thread of complex melody all within that unique cross-genre sound we are becoming known for to tell a story that embodies early 2000’s grimy dark thriller films through the lens of Aldous Huxley’s The Doors of Perception. Visions, deities, murder, trips and twists. Musically, it’s Ulcerate vs. Cephalic Carnage vs Spawn of Possession. Story wise, it’s David Lynch vs David Fincher.
“Life, death, purpose and perception are the cyclical points of experience and reciprocal suffering for which Caustic Burns exists within. You inhaled me deeply and held your breath, I inhale you deeply and hold my breath.”
Navigating cycles of abuse and trauma, whilst actively reaching for resolution through resilience, BLINDFOLDED AND LED TO THE WOODS‘ aptly titled Rejecting Obliteration is a testament to and declaration of endurance through hardships and loss. Lyrically conceived by Stace Fifield and Stuart Henley-Minchington, Rejecting Obliteration’s ten tracks share a common narrative thread of finding identity and light outside of personal hurt and psychological harm. The pair’s primary focus on inner strength and resilience serves as an unwavering foundation of who the band are in essence.
BLINDFOLDED AND LED TO THE WOODS’ penchant for converging avant-garde progressive metal with caustic technicality and grinding intensity remains intact on tracks such as Hallucinative Terror and The Waves, thanks in large part to Nick Smith (bass), Henley- Minchington and Ben Atkinson’s intuitive playing styles that come from well over a decade of friendship and life together in the band. Elsewhere, album closer Caustic Burns seethes with dissonant chords and a commandeering performance from Fifield on vocals – whose presence looms large over Rejecting Obliteration’s more harrowing cuts, whilst conveying a rare vulnerability for technical death metal on the album’s more diaphanous passages.
Upon completing the recording of Rejecting Obliteration, BLINDFOLDED AND LED TO THE WOODS sought the mixing expertise of Samuel K Sproull in Melbourne, Australia before handing mastering duties to Grammy Award winner Alan Douches at West West Side Music. The results of the technical team behind the album led to a production sound that retains the more barbarous aspects of the band’s sound and breathes life into the group’s ever growing progressive inclinations. Rejecting Obliteration’s cover art neatly ties together the core theme of cyclical trauma thanks to a commissioned piece from Eliran Kantor (Thy Art is Murder, Psycroptic, Archspire and more), designed to create an endless loop when applied to a printed surface.
Whilst despairing in it’s subject matter Rejecting Obliteration refuses to concede to a predestination of further anguish, opting instead to shun all notions of defeat, which in and of itself is vital to BLINDFOLDED AND LED TO THE WOODS’ long fought for and claimed identity.
Rejecting Obliteration tracklist: 1. Monolith 2. Methlehem 3. Hallucinative Terror 4. Rejecting Obliteration 5. Wraith 6. Cicada 7. Funeral Smiles 8. The Waves 9. Hands of Contrition 10. Caustic Burns

HOLE IN THE FRAME is an Italian groove metal band signed to Volcano Records and after some anticipations in the last few weeks, now is ready to release the single ‘Mr. Madness’. The song is available today through all digital platforms and streaming services, and it comes as a personal statement about the aim to be heard and pursuing a career in the music industry for the band.
Moreover, HOLE IN THE FRAME released today the official video of the song on YouTube presenting an experience full of intense and controversial feelings. ‘Mr. Madness’ in an introspective path that moves through the research of the truth. Ego and alter ego collide into an infinite fight against the homologation and the mind clouding, in what we could call a psychological path of purification.
Finnish guitar rock band THE TØLKS have released a new single and music video “Where Have You Gone?”
The band backgrounds:
“Rarely, if ever, has any song condensed into the dark droplets of despair when you have done everything you can, and yet that own loved one, your loved one, has disappeared beyond the reach of help, behind the smokescreen of addiction, into the darkness that cuts off any possibility of contact. The song describes how you walk alone in this destiny of yours when you wonder if there were any options that you could have helped with. However, the most devastating thing about this is to find that answer and the emptiness of being that you couldn’t really have done anything. Everyone has their own path to follow until the west meets the east, until the east meets the west. ‘Where have You Gone?’ depicts all this with the rhythm of the familiar Tølks cadence from behind the rock gauze and accompanied by a chorus that invites you to sing together, without self-pity, just sadness glued to the shadow of the wanderer”
When the COVID-19 pandemic stopped the Earth from spinning for a few years, several musical projects unfortunately ended up lost in the shuffle. One of those projects was a killer studio album from Finnish superstar Andy McCoy called 21st Century Rocks. As McCoy explains, “the album came out shortly before they closed the borders due to the COVID situation. So we couldn’t support the record with a tour, but we’re happy to see it being re-released!” This month, in fact, the album is being reissued on all formats to give fans who missed it the first time around their shot at experiencing this magical release.
21st Century Rocks features a dozen pure blasts of whiskey soaked, nicotine-stained rock n’ roll, all of which were penned by McCoy himself. The album kicks off with the title track, which blazes forth with one of McCoy’s signature hypnotic guitar riffs. “Seven Seas” showcases some of McCoy’s flamenco guitar playing and then kicks into a thoroughly modern, electro-tinged groove. Along the way, fellow Hanoi Rocks alumn Sami Yaffa joins in the fun as does The 69 Eyes drummer Jussi 69 and Amorphis’s Niclas Etelävuori. This is an album that deserves the fair shot it never got, a soon-to-be classic from a veteran rocker who manages to revive the glory days of his youth while still looking toward the bright future ahead!

About CRUZADOS The Cruzados attracted national attention in the ‘80s with their stormy, Latin-inflected brand of post-punk hard rock. Signed to Clive Davis’ Arista Records, the quartet issued two albums, Cruzados (1985) and After Dark(1987). They also made a high-profile screen appearance in the 1989 cult classic Road House. However, familiar rock ‘n’ roll pressures capsized the band in 1991; guitarist Marshall Rohner died in 2005, and drummer Chalo “Charlie” Quintana died in 2018.
In the intervening years, Marsico worked on the debut album by Plugz and Cruzados singer-guitarist Tito Larriva’s band Tarantula, today based in Austin. He also carved out a notable career as a top session musician and touring sideman with such artists as Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Roger Daltrey, Marianne Faithfull, and Willie Nelson. The bassist’s studio and road stories are collected in two books, Late Nights with Bob Dylan (2009) and I’m Just Here for the Gig! (2020).
With the onset of the pandemic in 2020 and the enforced solitude that followed, Marsico began to contemplate a new project under the Cruzados handle.
“Being penned up with the pandemic at home for a year, I started questioning my mortality,” he says. “I felt like I got shortchanged with the Cruzados. We never got to put out a third album, due to a lot of crazy circumstances that cropped up. I wanted to do the band justice and go out on a high note. That was my goal, and to pay tribute to Chalo and Marshall.”
Material for a new Cruzados release came quickly. It didn’t take long for Marsico to decide on the right musicians to carry on the Cruzados’ legacy in the studio: He turned to singer Ron Young and guitarists Loren Molinare and Mark Tremalgia of Little Caesar, who were also active on the L.A. scene in the late ‘80s as a Geffen Records act. The core lineup was completed by drummer Ron Klonel, who has collaborated with Little Caesar in recent years.
“The Little Caesar guys were Chalo’s best friends – they were pals from back in the day,” Marsico says. “I had to find the best guy to be the lead singer. My tastes have changed a little – the influences are blues and rock ‘n’ roll. I knew that Ron Young from Little Caesar loved blues, and we got to talking and we hit it off with the same style of music. I knew that he could pull this off and get behind it.
“Loren Molinare was in the great ‘70s L.A. band the Dogs, of course, and I loved the Dogs, and Mark Tremalgia is a new guy I’ve been working with for a couple of years now. Rob Klonel is a great, solid rock ‘n’ roll drummer. It was really important for me to get someone who hit ‘em hard like Chalo. They were a perfect combination of guys, and they had a lot of enthusiasm.”
With Bruce Witkin engineering and producing, the new Cruzados set up shop at Unison Studios in L.A. Marsico recalls, “We did it all “old style “– we just set up in a room all together, like we used to do records before they started putting everybody in isolation booths and all that crap. We got the band together and rehearsed, and we went into the studio a week later. Before we knew it, we had the album. All live, no click tracks. We all played in our own little area, with our masks on. Set up, play, cut the songs, boom. It felt great to rock with a bunch of like-minded guys. With our special guests, half of them came to the studio, and half recorded their parts at home.”
