Orange County’s BLEED THE SKY release new single “Soul Collapse” to all major platforms along with the visualizer.

“‘Soul Collapse’ is about being at odds with what you want to do and what you have to do. The persistent voice in your head stemming from the decisions that take you away from where you want to be in life. The natural connections, bonds and comforts we develop on that path become anchors to a life we cherish, but are antithetical to what we really want, but can’t bring ourselves to sacrifice,” says Monte Barnard.

Hailing from the musical breeding grounds of Orange County, CA, metalcore band Bleed the Sky began in 2003 with vocalist Noah Robinson, guitarists Kyle Moorman and Wayne Miller, bassist Casey Kulek, sampler Luke Andersen and drummer Austin D’Amond. Merely two months later and ready to dive into the music scene, the group performed their first show to a sold out crowd in an opening spot for Opeth and their second headlining the world famous Whisky A Go Go.

Early the following year their first EP, Bleed the Sky, was produced by Ben Schigel, known for his work engineering and mixing great music with groups such as Ringworm, Chimaira, and Walls of Jericho. The band sold over 1,000 copies on their own before signing a deal with Nuclear Blast Records in the fall of 2004. Their April of 2005 debut for the label, Paradigm in Entropy (2005), featured a futuristic, industrial, and melody-infused take on nu-metal’s dissonant riffs and aggressive vocals.

The album cemented the band as a forerunner in the New Wave of American Heavy Metal movement of the mid 2000’s and allowed for many opportunities and shows, including a consistent rotation on MTV’s Headbanger’s Ball. Their major success allowed them to tour with the likes of Hatebreed, Soulfly, Napalm Death, Red Chord, Agnostic Front, Disturbed, Diecast, and ILL Nino, only further promoting their albums and musical talent over the years.

Following the release of two well received albums with Nuclear Blast Records, Paradigm in Entropy (2005), and Murder the Dance (2008), they once again aimed to redefine who they are with a new label, Art Is War Records. The releases of This Way Lies Madness (2020) and the single “The Devil Will See You Now” (2020) started to gain the band massive online attention with the single reaching over a million streams on Spotify.

Not letting the pandemic keep them down for long, Bleed the Sky has returned with the same intensity that fans of their previous albums will be familiar with, as well as a new brutality that they are excited to share with the metal community. In 2022, Monte Barnard joined the group as the new frontman and was eager to bring his talent and experience to an already versatile group.

Getting his start in Northern California’s Death Metal scene, Monte Barnard joined Alterbeast in 2014 and continued his work touring and filling in on vocals with such bands as Thy Art Is Murder, The Kennedy Veil, and Fallujah. He still also fronts Emberthrone on Seek & Strike Records, as well as Lesser Animal.

Armed with a new vocalist and the release of a new single, “The Parasite” featuring guest vocalist Mark Hunter from Chimaira, they are set to make a mark once more in the music world and enthrall the masses with vigor.

The group is currently composed of Monte Barnard on Vocals, Kevin Garcia on Guitar, Wayne Miller on Guitar, David Culbert on Bass and Austin D’Amond on Drums.

Norwegian Jazz trio, BUSHMAN’S REVENGE, whose music mixes the energy of Rock with the freedom of Jazz in a way that is exciting and exhilarating, have inked a deal with Is it Jazz? Records for the release of their eleventh full-length album.

Formed in 2003, BUSHMAN’S REVENGE’s lineup of Even Helte Hermansen on Guitar,  Rune Nergaard on Bass, and Gard Nilssen on Drums, have had two decades in which to explore different paths and sounds, and, in doing so, they have succeeded in creating a genre all of their own.

With 10 critically acclaimed albums under their belts, and over 300 live appearances throughout the world, BUSHMAN’S REVENGE have earned a fearsome reputation, with Jazzwise commenting that they are “Insanely good! As if Jeff Beck was backed by Elvin Jones“, whilst David Fricke of Rolling Stone said that they were “Like a Marshall amp version of John Coltrane’s “Interstellar Space“

In addition to the new album, this year also marks their 20th anniversary as a band, and having been described as one of the most exciting live bands out there,  well known for their explosive energy and telepathic interplay, fans can expect a lot of celebrating on the part of BUSHMAN’S REVENGE in the coming months!

BUSHMAN’S REVENGE’s new album will be titled “All The Better For Seeing You”, and full details regarding its release will be revealed shortly.

CYNIC be celebrating the 30th anniversary of ‘Focus’ by performing the seminal album in its entirety while also paying homage to late members Sean Reinert and Sean Malone.

Later in the year, CYNIC will then perform at the illustrious ProgPower USA festival on September 6 in Atlanta, GA!

The new live lineup will feature Paul Masvidal on vocals and guitars, Max Phelps (Exist, Death to All) on additional guitars and vocals, Brandon Giffin (The Faceless, The Zenith Passage) on bass, Matt Lynch (Nova Collective, Intronaut) on drums & percussion, and Zeke Kaplan on the keyboard! Lynch has been drumming with CYNIC since 2015 & appeared on the band’s latest full-length, ‘Ascension Codes,’ as well as the 2018 single “Humanoid.” Additionally, Phelps, having also appeared on ‘Ascension Codes,’ and Giffin have previously toured with CYNIC during the band’s ‘Carbon Based Anatomy’ and ‘Kindly Bent to Free Us’ tours.

ATHEIST‘s Kelly Schaefer adds, “This has been something that Paul (Cynic) and I have been talking about in some capacity since we were in our early 20s. It’s surreal to share a 30 year milestone together, and this tour will showcase for us a chance to play songs from our first 3 records as a special trilogy anniversary set,  including songs not performed live in decades. Two titans of technical progressive metal coming together for a unicorn of a tour….one you will not want to miss!”

Tour sponsor Simon of Pull the Plug Patches comments, “Pull The Plug Patches have been longtime fans since the early 1990s, and both Atheist and Cynic are two of our absolute favorite bands. It’s an honour to be able to be the presenting sponsor on such a landmark tour for two of the godfathers of Progressive Death Metal. I remember picking up ‘Unquestionable Presence’ right around the time of release, blew me away and is to this day one of my favorite albums. And for Cynic my first introduction was the
At Death’s Door II’ sampler that Roadrunner released. I bought Focus the day it came out and again, one of my all time favorite records.”

VEXED Announce New Album “Negative Energy”, Out June 23rd

UK’s most exciting new talent, alt-metal outfit VEXED, emerged as one of the hottest new bands to watch in heavy music. After their highly-lauded debut in 2021 the crushing Hertfordshire unit will unleash the album’s aggressive successor, entitled Negative Energy, on June 23rd via Napalm Records. Heavier and more violent, the new studio album depicts the confidence VEXED have gathered since their first release, and represents a soundtrack of brutality – chaotic, traumatic and based on the band’s most grueling personal experiences.

Crushing new single “Anti-Fetish” comes as the first harbinger and fearlessly breaks in with an all-consuming, panic-stricken lead riff, making a stand against comparisons and hate in the business. Blistering with disorderly intensity, VEXED don’t mince words with pure honesty and all-consuming instrumental strength. The brand-new official music video underlines this message in a visually impressive way that captivates from start to finish!

VEXED on “Anti-Fetish” :
“We wanted to start with a huge riff and a strong message. Anti-Fetish is us confronting the constant comparisons and ungrounded hate that bands receive. It’s become completely accepted in the scene to cross the line of constructive criticism and just dive bomb into hatred and prejudice. This song is us setting the record straight by calling out the blatant discrimination.”

Negative Energy achieves pinnacle musicianship and gripping, profound and brave lyricism. Instead of opting for forced positivity like many of their contemporaries, the Hertfordshire three-piece channel every ounce of their Negative Energy into these 13 tracks – recharging themselves for an uphill battle.

The band states:
“We are so proud to present to you our second album. Since our first release, we have each endured traumatic experiences, surrounded by death, betrayal, pain and grief. In order to find any strength, we first had to accept that we weren’t okay, then take our trauma and face it head on, sharing our vulnerability, fears and weaknesses. Instead of forcing ourselves to try and be positive we put all our negative energy into the album in order to begin our own repair and to overcome.”

Pre-Order the devastatingly heavy Negative Energy NOW

Haunting intro track “PTSD” sets a stage of dread for the carnage to come. “We don’t talk about it” – featuring pitch-shifted verses emulating a disguised voice – explores childhood trauma and survivor’s guilt. “X my ❤ (Hope to die)” deals with what happens after we die and that it should be okay to never get this answer, while “Panic attack” centers on mental health issues, representing terror and frustration through heavy riffs and grooving vocals. Furious “Lay down your flowers” (feat. Alpha Wolf vocalist Lochie Keogh) showcases extreme vocals and bombarding drums, while disturbingly groovy following track “There’s no place like home” draws inspiration from ‘The Wizard of Oz’. The unbelievably heavy “Extremist” gets straight to the point, kicking off with fast and demanding vocal rhythms, while “Default”, on the other hand, displays multifaceted lead singer-to-watch Megan Targett’s high-soaring clean vocals juxtaposed against her menacing deep growls. This is equally evident on standout, dynamic “Trauma Euphoria”, also featuring some of the most impressive guitar work on the album. The album’s most emotional offering, “It’s Not The End”, serves as a magnificent dedication to a loved one passing away while manifesting their legacy, before sliding into instrumental interlude “DMT” – cradled by lo-fi beats with hints of 808, delivered in fresh VEXED style. Intense album finale “Nepotism” wraps up Negative Energy with a knot of rage before slowly fading out into darkness. Negative Energy proves itself as a stunning, devastating musical conduit – ventilating the band’s pain-stricken burdens and breathing life into their fresh approach, delivered with a vengeance.

Negative Energy Tracklisting:
1. PTSD
2. Anti-Fetish
3. We don’t talk about it

WEIGHTLESS WORLD’s Energetic New Single ‘Speedrun’ Celebrates Perseverance

Finland’s melodic metal act WEIGHTLESS WORLD released earlier this year an ambitious and actor filled music video with their single Initiate Restart. Now, the five-piece group has again released new material: Speedrun is a heads-on metal song about perseverance.

“The origin of the song is actually a Drum and Bass track I was experimenting with. That track ended up also remaining as an experiment, but I saved the main lead in the intro as I thought that it would make a much better metal song. While tracking the demos, we got inspired by a style of “modern Swedish metal arrangement” as we like to call it and ended up finishing the song only in couple of hours while having fun and embracing many clichés”, says the bassist Tino Kantoluoto.

Speedrun is, as the name suggests, a fast-paced song, but it still contains a few twists. The drummer Kari Rannila was not inquired about his preferences for the tempo, as the song BPM was rather just announced:

“The boys just told me ‘sorry about the tempo of this’ when they presented the song to me. Otherwise it has power and a great catchy chorus, but I really need to get my legs working for it” Rannila laughs.

Guitarist Valtteri Viinikka praises the lead vocalist Perttu Korhonen for his vocal performance in the studio and also the lyrics he wrote. Inspired by the infamous video game Dark Souls, the lyrics portray the perseverance in many levels:

“From grinding in a video game to a modern day real-life grind on working towards what you want. I would love to hear the song in a sports event or even have it as an entrance song for an athlete or a team before a match” says Viinikka.

Weightless World’s debut album the End of Beginning was released in 2019. The next full length album is set to release next Fall.
