Epic extreme metal trio, CRAVING, has shared a video for their new single, “Gods Don’t Negotiate”. The track is featuring a guest guitar solo by CRADLE OF FILTH guitarist Marek “Ashok” Šmerda! On May 19, 2023 CRAVING will release their upcoming, fourth studio album, entitled “Call Of The Sirens”, through Massacre Records. Available as vinyl, CD, and digital formats, you can pre-order the album HERE!

Building upon the staggering success of their previous album, “By the Storm”, CRAVING continues to awe audiences with their unique fusion of melodic black metal, melodic death metal, and traditional heavy metal epicness on stages of all sizes. This time, the album contains eight catchy to-the-point core songs and two bonus cover songs on the CD version: “Shum” by the Ukranian electro-folk band Go_A and “El Diablo” by Greek singer Elena Tsagrinou. The lyrics on “Call Of The Sirens” will feature four different languages: German, English, Russian and Ukrainian. Along several high class guest musicians, the album will also feature CRADLE OF FILTH guitarist Marek “Ashok” Šmerda in a solo on the track “Gods Don’t Negotiate”.

“Have you ever tried to negotiate with a person suffering from a God complex?
Our hint for you: Don’t even try to. You will only end up tricked, damaged, or cold dead and gone because Gods Don’t Negotiate!”Says the band about their new single release.“Follow us on this dark path of violence and rage – full of blast beats, epic choruses and violent screams!
Adding his blistering lead guitar skills to the song is Marek “Ashok” Smerda. This song follows the more old school Craving path and is the fastest song in the history of Craving so far with 270 bpm blast beats.”

Marek “Ashok” Šmerda comments:
“I am delighted to announce my recent collaboration with Craving. I had a great time contributing to the project and I am eagerly anticipating the release of “Gods Don’t Negotiate”, featuring my solo performance.”

Led by Ivan Chertov, CRAVING is forged by Jonas Papmeier, a highly talented guitarist from Hamburg, as well as one of the best metal drummers from Germany – holding the unofficial world record in playing blast beats at 250 bpm for over 20 minutes straight – Wanja “Nechtan” Gröger.

Events in the band’s lives, the world, and in our society, which is more and more striving towards psychopathy, have inspired the band to write this album. “Call Of The Sirens” is metaphorically following the irresistible voices of the sirens, the mythical creatures mentioned in Greek and many other mythologies, which lured people in by seductive behavior and ultimately killed them.

The album was produced by CRAVING and once again mixed by Christoph Brandes at the Iguana Studios (Necrophagist, Finsterforst, The Spirit, Imperium Dekadenz etc.). As always, the cover artwork was created by the band’s long-term friend and designer Andrej Bartulović / All Things Rotten.

Slated for a release on May 19, 2023, the pre-sale is available via Massacre Records at THIS LOCATION!

Hip-Hop Punks OXYMORRONS Release New Track & Video ‘Last Call’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on April 27, 2023

New York-based melanated punk band OXYMORRONS continue their genre-bending revolution with their latest single, “Last Call”, releasing today via Mascot Records.

Produced by Zach Jones (Fever 333, Nova Twins, Crown The Empire), “Last Call” is a fervent hip-hop/rock tune exploring self-medicating with alcohol to quell your inner demons. Brothers and co-frontmen Deee and KI get candid in their lyrics, with vulnerability shining through each verse and accentuated in their earnest tonality and masterful cadence. The song evolved into something extra special with the addition of singer-songwriter/producer Troi Irons (he/him/they), who’s raspy, evocative voice perfectly delivers the desperate hook, “Last drink up in my hand, This time I’ll take it slow, Oh shit I’m fucked up.”

When asked what inspired them to write such an honest song and share themselves so openly, the band explained, “‘Last Call’ is an exercise in vulnerability and using our music to help us better understand ourselves and our coping mechanisms. Too many times we’ve all found ourselves drowning at the bottom of a bottle, using alcohol to help us feel something different or feel nothing at all. Whether you’ve struggled in the past or are struggling right now, we hope this song helps you feel seen and plays a role in helping you not struggle in the future.”

Featured artist Troi Irons brought a different perspective to the track, sharing, “I’ve long been a fan of the Oxymorrons and what they do so I was thrilled to hop on this song. I don’t really drink but it’s more a metaphor for how humans tend to reach for the closest thing to help us feel less alone. It’s not always healthy. Hopefully people reach for the music to feel less alone with this one.”

Shot and directed by Michael Danners / IamEyephotos, the “Last Call” music video further explores the theme of the song, with each member experiencing the same groundhog day of drunken debauchery. The visual is playfully intensified with Scott Pilgrim-esque graphics. Watch the video here.

Oxymorrons are taking this important issue and conversation to the streets, partnering with spirits company JuneShine for a drink responsibly single release event. The soiree will be hosted on April 26th at the brands NYC location in Williamsburg Brooklyn, where the band will be hanging out enjoying Mocktails, Cocktails and Spiked Kombucha with fans (in moderation).

“Last Call” comes at the heels of the bands successful single, “Enemy”, which launched their Melanin Punk era and received praise from Guitar World, Loudwire, AfroPunk, SiriusXM’s Octane, Kerrang, BBC Radio 1, and more. Oxymorrons also hit the road hard in the new year, smashing stages all across Europe on Bad Omens sold-out run and bringing their face melting performance back to the states for a short trip around the North East with emo rapper nothing, nowhere. Fans should keep their ear to the ground for new music drops and tour date announcements to come.

ABOUT OXYMORRONS:
The New York-based boundary-pushers have made a name for themselves in the spirit of change – building a movement from years of being told they were too rock for hip-hop, too hip-hop for rock. They boldly committed to creating music that defies arbitrary rules of classification, cementing the band as early pioneers of the modern genre-blending revolution. Comprised of vocalists Deee and KI, drummer Matty Mayz, and guitarist Jafé Paulino, Oxymorrons have been on a major upswing over the last two years with the release of their incredibly innovative Mohawks & Durags EP and near non-stop touring, hitting the road with Neck Deep, Anti-Flag, Grandson, Pop Evil, Set It Off, Senses Fail, and Bad Omens. The band have channeled their experiences, eclectic influences, and personal insights into their craft, hitting the studio in late 2022 and curating tunes that are their most authentic yet. With their sights set on changing the game, audiences should expect big things to come from these New York rockers.

FORMALIST to Release New Album “We Inherit a World at the Seams” on May 25th

Italy’s FORMALIST is the latest band to join the Brucia Records roster.

“We Inherit a World at the Seams”
is the sophomore release by the Doom / Sludge / Drone outft, and it will be released on May 25th, 2023 on digital and 6 panels Digipack CD.

No Clean Singing
is now premiering the song “Monuments”. Stream it HERE.

FORMALIST is a supergroup featuring members of some Italian heavyweights bands such as FORGOTTEN TOMB [Ferdinando “HM” Marchisio – vocals], MALASANGRE [Riccardo Rossi – drums] and VISCERA/// [Michele Basso – guitars]

After the critically acclaimed “No One Will Shine Anymore” (2018), FORMALIST are now back and their aim is still one and the same: opening new gates of total sonic horrors.

“We Inherit a World at the Seams” is a monumentally nihilistic record – a low-tuned nightmare combining the most vicious forms of Black Metal, Doom, Sludge and Drone, and taking their fear inducing and menacing sound literally to the extremes.

The FORMALIST unit handles their weapons of sonic destruction with purpose and sadistic intent, here delivering some of the heaviest, most cacophonic and gloomiest Doom / Sludge Metal around, and featuring layers upon layers of rumbling noise, shrieking guitar feedback and desperate howls singing the end of a dying world.

The lyrics are a first person account tackling themes such as darkness, despair and social unrest, and narrating the world’s downfall with an hallucinatory and yet detached style.

Terrifyingly suffocating and massively obscure slow music for the disenchanted.

FFO: Khanate, Corrupted, Teeth of Lions Rule The Divine, Grief

Album tracklist:

01. Warfare – 14:41
02. Monuments – 13:36
03. Selfsh – 15:46

The FORMALIST unit was founded in 2014 when long-time associated individuals from the Italian heavyweights FORGOTTEN TOMB [Ferdinando “HM” Marchisio – vocals], MALASANGRE [Nicola Casella, Riccardo Rossi – bass & drums] and VISCERA/// [Michele Basso – guitars] joined forces with the aim to open new gates of total sonic horrors.

Excelling in the art of low-tuned sickness, the band members managed to forge together their unique sound and proceeded to write and record their first full-length titled “No One Will Shine Anymore” (released in March 2018 as a co-production between Wooaaargh, Toten Schwan Records and Third I Rex).

Meanwhile, the band manifested itself through selected live appearances. 2019-2022 saw the unit losing bassist Nicola Casella, replaced by Marcello Groppi [THE GREAT SAUNITES] and a new chapter in the band’s existence was written.

The second album “We Inherit a World at the Seams” sees FORMALIST exploring darkness, despair and social unrest in even more extreme ways – if possible – both musically and lyrically. The album will be released in May 2023 via Brucia Records.

Kip Winger: “New Winger Album is the only album where every member played on every song”

Posted by tarjavirmakari on April 26, 2023
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: Kip Winger, The Metal Voice. Leave a comment

The Metal Voice recently interviewed singer bassist Kip Winger of Winger. In the chat Kip talks about the bands upcoming studio album SEVEN and the ups and downs of the bands career.

‘Seven’ will be released on May 5, 2023 via Frontiers Music Srl a 12-track album produced by winger frontman Kip Winger.

When asked why it took nine years to release a new Winger album
“Time got away from us. Reb (Beach) was working heavily in Whitesnake,  I did a lot of other projects, classical music and the Get Jack (musical) and quite a few solo shows.  I wrote a lot of solo music that has yet to be released. I was super busy and time just got away from us. We actually started this album in 2019 but then Covid hit and kind of wiped everybody out. So it might have been out a little earlier but basically because we were both too busy to get it together.”

When asked what they did differently on the new album compared to last studio album
“This is the only album that every member of Winger played on every single song. So it’s actually the definitive Winger album because Paul Taylor played on every song and actually Paul has a solo on this album for the first time in our history. He played the solo on Broken Glass.  The main difference is that it’s all original guys playing on every song, so it’s really the ingredients of our whole history on every track on the album. I tried to grab the inspiration from the first album and then combine it with the depth of the stuff that followed.”

When Kip Winger spoke about the band’s early image and sound
“We’re a very misunderstood band. In the early 90s stuff didn’t help us at all when all that kind of stuff went down with grunge and Beavis and Butthead. It really was kind of a nail in the coffin for a lot of  people to just keep an open mind about who we actually are. Part of it’s our fault because. I was not Savvy about  marketing. When Reb and I were writing the first album we watched MTV and there’s Bon Jovi and Whitesnake and Poison and Def Leppard. So we thought what are we gonna wear?  Well, let’s just do that kind of thing .We were so focused on the music, if the solo is cool, if the Riff is cool. We didn’t like to go, well wait a minute, let’s not dress up that much.”

When asked how Bevis and Butthead hurt their career early on
“For example we’ll take White Zombie, Beavis and Butthead were like oh White Zombie’s cool and then White Zombie went triple platinum, like overnight. It was the biggest show in MTV history so a lot of people benefited from Beavis and Butthead but we were like the on the shirt of the geeky guy who represented it sucked.  There’s a lot of other bands that might have been better suited for that role. I did speak to Mike Judge (creator) through email at one point and he was just kind of like It just happened to stick. I think it hurt a lot of the bands like us and you have to also add in the aspect of Metallica throwing darts at my poster. So that came first  and I think it inadvertently chose us because of that. Mike Judge said it was just luck of the draw, bad timing. As far as the 80s goes, I don’t think that the 80s would have survived much longer anyway. 80s  music had run its course and we came a little too late. I tell this story a lot. I moved out to New Mexico, we lost our record deal, our publishing, everything was gone. Then my first wife passed away in a car wreck and I was totally in Oblivion and that’s when I  decided to write and to start studying classical music for real.  I’d always wanted to write orchestral music and never felt like it was within my reach and I thought you know what, I’m just gonna go for it  and I had the time because I couldn’t get arrested. I mean there were no gigs to be had, for years. The only gig that I did during that time on my first solo record was Porter’s bookstore at 4: 00 p.m in the afternoon playing to 10 people after a year before headlining to 8 000- 10 000 people.”

Winger ‘Seven’ Track Listing
