Former SCORPIONS Guitarist ULI JON ROTH to Release New Book ‘In Search of the Alpha Law’

Canada’s The Metal Voice spoke to former Scorpions guitarist Uli Jon Roth on March 28, 2023. In the chat Roth talks about his new book entitled ‘In Search of the Aplpha Law’. Watch the interview below.

Uli Jon Roth was asked about his upcoming US tour and how he plans on integrating his new book during his 3 hour performance, he said,” The show is different  from any tour I’ve done before. The show consists of two very different halves. It’s a three hour show which sounds scary but I been doing three hour shows for a long time we always have an intermission in the middle. I will also integrate like a 15-minute Ted Talk which  I’ve never done that before but where I’m just  introducing the book because there’s a lot to talk about in the book. The book is 560 Pages plus a thousand photographs. The book is called ‘In search of the alpha law’.  It’ not about my life on the road or my life. it is about my philosophy. Ever since the early Scorpion days I was a closet philosopher. I love  Deep Thoughts. A lot of that has to do with the  inner spirit and architecture of Music the  laws of Music which I found are the same laws that govern pretty much everything else that we see and perceive. If not the whole universe. I think these laws are fundamental laws of nature and even beyond that because they also apply to our mind and in our spirit our soul. These laws are very fascinating  to look at  and try to understand. So the first half of the show has this Ted talk but it has also quite a few  new music pieces which don’t really fit into the band format, they’re more orchestral,They are very melodic, where the guitar is leading and I have orchestra backing. Second half of the show after the intermission  a full-on band show. because  I know most of my core audience wants to  hear my earlier musical existence including of course the Scorpions and Electric Sun.”

HIGH PRIEST Unleash Video Single ‘Divinity’ from Forthcoming New Album

Chicago stoner doom aficionados

have released the psychedelic video ‘Divinity’ as the first single taken from their forthcoming debut album “Invocation”. The full-length is scheduled for release on June 23, 2023 via Magnetic Eye Records, the pre-sale is now available at THIS LOCATION!

HIGH PRIEST comment on the album: “This record was a long long time coming”, guitarist John Regan writes about “Invocation”. “On top of the craziness in the world the last two years, we experienced a lot of changes as a band:  PHDs, new businesses, new homes, new cities. Despite all that, we brought all our energy into an album that feels like the best and most complete work we’ve ever done. ‘Invocation’ feels like catharsis inside chaos.”

John Regan discusses the lead single ‘Divinity’: “We had eight songs written and decided to do one more push to see what we could come up with”, the guitarist states. “I started playing some iPhone riff demos and when Dan heard ‘Divinity’, he said, ‘that one is a banger’. We started working with it and the full song pretty much came together in one day. It’s probably the most energetic song on the record, and we feel like it gives every piece a moment in the sun: huge drum fills, harmonized guitar solos, and a vocal hook. It’s the kind of song that makes you want to get in your car and drive down an open road, only your car is a spaceship and the road is the galaxy.”

Tracklist

  1. Invocation
  2. Divinity
  3. Ceremony
  4. Cosmic Key’
  5. Down in the Dark
  6. Universe
  7. Conjure
  8. Heaven

Brothers and sisters, we are gathered here to worship the gods at the altar of heavy metal. HIGH PRIEST have come forth from Chicago, Illinois in the United States of America to brighten your days with a message of hope and doom, one that is hammered into metal, stone and rock to assume the shape of their debut album “Invocation”.

HIGH PRIEST have taken the prophecies of the elders to their hearts. Their glorious harmonies and melodies bear the catchy mark of THIN LIZZY. There is dark heaviness foretold by BLACK SABBATH and renewed by ELECTRIC WIZARD, and even a touch of METALLICA’s more classic riffs. From the scriptures of grunge comes an emotional force that has been received through prayers directed at ALICE IN CHAINS. All of this is set forth in a new testament of blues-laden guitar-riffs and soulful vocals.

What sets HIGH PRIEST apart from many of their peers is an optimism that soars over the sludge, an openness to the bright sky showing through the clouds, a gaze into space at the wonders of the universe. Yet even as these Americans make references to familiar religious concepts and themes, they promote no particular faith beyond a devotion to metal.

There is also a sense of understanding and a bond of unity among the musicians that’s audible throughout “Invocation”, easily explained since the members of HIGH PRIEST have been friends since childhood. Drummer Dan Polak even recalls when guitarist Pete Grossmann had the training wheels taken off his bike. Yep, their friendship goes that far back, and it’s evident in their musical interaction.

With the friends playing together in various bands and line-ups since their youth, HIGH PRIEST came into being with a clear vision in mind. While watching an ELECTRIC WIZARD show in 2015, they spontaneously and simultaneously concluded that they wanted to play doom and old school metal from that day on (all while transfixed by the performance and having to shout their agreement over the din of the PA).

The fire of true passion was lit and nothing could stop the four friends, even while variously writing a PhD, running a restaurant (and serving as head chef), owning and operating a recording studio, and other such matters, from getting together in the rehearsal room and loosing the fruits of their new inspiration.

Their first public declaration of the metal gospel was the 2016 EP “Consecration”, which got HIGH PRIEST much attention throughout the doom and stoner metal scene as well as a record deal with Magnetic Eye, which led to the release of second EP “Sanctum” in 2019.

And now the time has come to rejoice: HIGH PRIEST deliver their eagerly anticipated debut full-length, and “Invocation” doesn’t just live up to what the two EPs promised, but will carry you straight to the heavens on a chariot of fiery riffs. Amen!

Line-up
Pete Grossmann – guitar
Justin Valentino – vocals, bass
Dan Polak – drums
John Regan – guitar

ANTIROPE Sign Worldwide Deal with Eclipse Records, New Album Out June 30th

Eclipse Records is thrilled to announce the signing of ANTIROPE to an exclusive worldwide deal. Based in Munich (Germany), the alternative metal band cites influences such as Neurosis, Soundgarden and Black Sabbath, while bringing a new sound that makes the psychedelic cruel and the damned sound heavenly. Antirope was formed in 2015 and the band are anxiously preparing to release their debut full-length studio album Amnesia via Eclipse Records on June 30, 2023. The album was produced by Patrick Fleischer (Lacrimas Profundere, Darkseed).

The band consists of Slaven Stokic on vocals and guitar, Patrick Fleischer on guitar and backing vocals, Julie Fleischer on bass, and Tobi Schauseil on drums, all of them taking us on a journey straight through what is heavy and gruesome in order to expose what’s endearing and subtle. Their debut record, Amnesia, gives the listener a mirror of hope and ruin, an aesthetic anti-trend, leaving all of us wanting more. Way more.

“For us as a band, Eclipse Records provides a perfect blend of hands-on guidance and creative freedom” says drummer Tobias Schauseil, “so we are very excited to now be a part of the label’s family alongside all these great bands and artists. We’ve put our hearts and souls into our forthcoming debut album Amnesia and we can’t wait to present it to this beautiful musical landscape.” Bass guitarist Julie Fleischer says “I must admit that I wasn’t following the rock scene for some time, so getting back to playing an instrument in a rock band changed my life. Of course, Antirope is not just any rock band. We do not come from the same music background but merge into this doomy pop metal, and our new album is a punch full of hard emotion and groove. Being signed to Eclipse Records, an independent label from New York, feels unreal to me. More like a dream. We are extremely excited to get on the ride with them!” Guitarist Patrick Fleischer also adds, “my former band (Alev) had released its debut album in the US through Eclipse Records back in 2004, so I am very happy that we are still in contact and I am excited about working with Chris Poland again, many years later.”

The band’s debut full-length studio album Amnesia contains eleven amazing songs and is scheduled for release on June 30, 2023. The album cover art was painted by Vittoria Francesca Spille. See below for the full list of song titles. Pre-Save or Pre-Order the album at this location.

(Michaela Naydenova, Helena Kotina, Prika Amaral and Hel Pyre)

Full-speed death-thrash metal engine NERVOSA are setting the metal world ablaze with their brand new song, entitled “Endless Ambition”, out today! The steamrolling track is accompanied by an inexorably energetic music video and marks a new chapter and milestone in the band’s history, as it shows NERVOSA with a revitalized new line-up.

Along with this blistering new offering, the marvelous force has finally lifted the veil on who will take over vocal duties on future releases. From now on, guitarist and founding member Prika Amaral will be the voice of NERVOSA. “Endless Ambition” acts as a first harbinger for everything that is about to come and shows the incredibly powerful attitude and talent of Amaral ruling in this new position. NERVOSA brings another novelty with the addition of the immensely talented and well experienced Michaela Naydenova on drums, Hel Pyre on bass and Helena Kotina on guitars.

Prika Amaral says about becoming vocalist:
“It was a huge challenge for me. It wasn’t something I planned or expected, but after a second change of vocalist, I didn’t want to go through these changes again, so I decided to face what a lot of people have said since the beginning of NERVOSA – that I should be vocalist. But, as I always heard from some people that I didn’t have a technique, that the way I sang hurt my throat, I got carried away by that. Now, after studying vocal techniques for the last few months, I discovered that yes, I’ve always had the technique and feel comfortable facing this new journey, which I am enjoying a lot”.

Watch below the official music video for “Endless Ambition”, featuring Prika Amaral’s vocal debut.

With their latest record, Perpetual Chaos (2.8M plays on Spotify), femme thrash metal band NERVOSA not only secured their first charting positions at #18 on the German album charts, #6 on the US Hard Music Albums and #9 on the US Top New Artist Albums charts, but also played some of Europe’s biggest festivals such as Summerbreeze and Wacken Open Air. The new standalone single “Endless Ambition” graces their 35k monthly listeners and 77k followers on Spotify alone with an exciting glimpse of what’s about to come in 2023. Stay tuned for more exciting news coming soon!

Polynesian SHEPHERDS REIGN Release New Video for Single ‘UA MASA’A’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on March 28, 2023
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: SHEPHERDS REIGN. Leave a comment

Hailing from South Auckland New Zealand, and Polynesian by birth and blood, Filiva’a James (vocals/keytar), Gideon Voon (guitar), Oliver Leupolu (guitar/production), Shaymen Rameka (drums) and Joseph Oti-George (bass) are not playing games. SHEPHERDS REIGN is life, Shepherds Reign is survival, Shepherds Reign is mental and physical health and Shepherds Reign is their calling. Their voice is their mighty, fearsome music.

Shepherds Reign’s screen-shattering videos have become a thing of independent heavy metal/hard rock legend, with the video for previous single, “Le Manu”, having amassed over 2 million YouTube views.

Shepherds Reign are famous in Australasia for their primal performance, one which evokes many aspects of their cultural heritage and fierce Polynesian pride. Coupled with their enormous intimidating physical presence, there’s guttural tribal roars, gargantuan biker-rough riffs, twisting dual melodies, virulent virtuosity and crushing, bombastic rhythms, which gives Shepherds Reign their propulsive, dynamic metal sound. There is a special passion and power in every note struck, every word sung.

Pre-order/add/save ‘Ua Masa’a’ HERE

UA MASA’A (trans: It Has Spilt)
The lead single from Shepherds Reign’s forthcoming album is a tale with heartache and familial tragedy at its core. The song shares the story of Filiva’a’s sister who was murdered by her spouse and his family. Laden with anger, Filiva’a voices the thoughts his sister would have felt prior to her death. “Ua masa’a le ipu vai” is translated to “The cup has spilt”, a symbolic look at the love once shared, lost like water in a broken cup.
