SALIVA – GoFundMe Set Up for Daughter of Guitarist Wayne Swinny Following His Death

A GoFundMe fundraiser has been organized for guitarist Wayne Swinny‘s daughter after his death last week. The funds will go towards Wayne’s expenses and a trust for his daughter.

Donations can be sent here: https://gofund.me/6fcfcab7

Bobby Amaru states:

The Saliva family is mourning the tragic loss of our brother Wayne Swinny. Wayne left us suddenly from a spontaneous brain hemorrhage on March 22, 2023. Wayne fought hard, but ultimately lost his battle. The one bright light is the fact that Wayne was an organ donor and was able to donate his liver and kidneys which saved 2 lives.

Wayne leaves behind the love of his life; his beautiful 11-year-old daughter Nikki. Also, his sister Linda, his very tightly bonded Saliva family, countless friends, legions of musicians whom he inspired past and present, and millions of fans across the world.

The pain and loss his loved ones are experiencing is incomprehensible. We are setting up a donation link to help cover Wayne’s expenses and to create a trust for his daughter Nikki. Wayne will miss Nikki’s graduations, dances, extracurricular events, marriage, children…milestones, highlights and those times she would have needed her father’s guidance and strength by her side. We hope to be able to provide her with some support as she begins her journey in life without him. Any donation is greatly appreciated.

The Saliva family is overwhelmed by the amount of love we have received. Thank you all for the posts, calls, e-mails, texts, and prayers. They are greatly appreciated and helping everyone cope during this very trying time.

Wayne was my best friend and bandmate for nearly 12 years. His sister Linda and I discussed creating a gofundme so that a trust could be created for his daughter Nikki.

After acquiring front man Bobby Amaru in 2011, Saliva became infused with new blood, energy, and spirit. The same energy launched Saliva’s career in 2001 with the release, Every Six Seconds – a certified Double Platinum-selling album, containing the hits, “Click Click Boom” and 2002 Grammy nominated, “Your Disease.” Saliva’s in-your-face, anthemic writing style continued with a certified Gold-selling album Back in to Your System with hits: “Always,” “Raise Up,” and the Nikki Sixx co-written, “Rest In Pieces.”

Upon adding former Shinedown and Fuel bassist, Brad Stewart, as a permanent member, Saliva solidified their new lineup consisting of: Wayne Swinny, Sammi Jo Bishop and Amaru.

While the world was still in the midst of the pandemic, DVNE decided to set up a digital livestream of four songs off their 2021 album, Etemen Ænka, as a way to finally bring the new songs to life to fans around in a safe way. The outstanding live performance was recorded in their hometown Edinburgh with the help of producer Graeme Young, who also produced Etemen Ænka. For the first time ever, the band performed the new songs live with special guest Lissa Robertson on violin and vocals.

That live recording became the ’22 release Cycles of Asphodel, which is now available on vinyl and can be found here: orcd.co/dvne-cycles

Cycles of Asphodel Tracklisting:
01. Weighing of the Heart (Live)
02. Omega Severer (Live)
03. Asphodel (Live)
04. Satuya (Live)

You can also watch the live performance of Cycles of Asphodel here: youtu.be/cFZSXwWjLCU

Metal-Digest.com had this to say about the album that was originally released May 20, 2022:

“Focusing on just four tracks from their ‘Etemen Ænka’ album, this isn’t an album of elongated tracks full of crowd interactions of dull, dried out call and responses or 20 minutes of drum solo that’s not even over by the time you take a piss and grab a beer. Instead, this is Dvne creatively reimagining the tracks here with the use of some tasteful violins from and coupled with the vocals of Lissa Robertson and some beautiful keyboards from Evelyn May Hedges who between them add a massively different dimension to this progressive post-metal which is guaranteed to bring in fans from beyond the usual scope of The Ocean Collective, Mastodon and Neurosis.“

DVNE‘s line-up for the live recording of Cycles of Asphodel features Victor Vicart on guitar, vocals, and keys, Dudley Tait on drums, Daniel Barter on guitar and vocals, Allan Paterson on bass, Lissa Robertson on violin and vocals, and Evelyn May Hedges on keys.

The band has some upcoming performances (see below) then are planning to enter the studio to record their 3rd album this September.

Upcoming shows:
11/04 – Glasgow, UK – Stereo
12/04 – Nottingham, UK – Bodega
13/04 – Sheffield, UK – The Corporation
14/04 – Bristol, UK – The Crofters Rights
15/04 – London, UK – Oslo
16/04 – Manchester, UK – Soup
28/06 – 01/07 – Viveiro, ES – Resurrection Fest
16/08 – Somerset, UK – Arctangent Festival

In other news, this live release also marks the second anniversary of the DVNE‘s release Etemen Ænka.

DEFIANT released their latest single “Ignite the Sky” to all major platforms via Curtain Call Records along with the official music video. The single was produced, mixed and mastered at Atrium Audio in Lititz, Pa. The band is set to release their third EP in 2023.

“Fat Man, Little Boy, Nukes, The Atomic Bomb. On July 16,1945 humanity had to ask themselves whether their scientific curiosity had gone beyond that of man, and transcend into an apocalyptic cataclysm of hellfire. Defiant’s newest single brings forward a harrowing perspective of man’s most powerful weapon, and it’s involuntary desire to lay waste to all it’s nuclear hands touched. The aggressive vocals and hard pounding groove of “Ignite The Sky” brings the essential punk onslaught Defiant is more than happy to give to your precious ears. For a hundred minds and a thousand hours gave God’s power to human hands.,” says the band.

Boldly resisting authority…like the definition of its name, Curtain Call Records recording artist Defiant has set out to ignore any rules or standards in hard rock music. The 4-piece band from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania infuses elements of punk, alternative, classic rock and heavy metal to form its own unique brand of music.

Formed in 2018, Defiant has built a reputation with their high octane live shows playing on bills throughout Pennsylvania and the Mid-Atlantic region with the likes of From Ashes to New, The Texas Hippie Coalition, Kix, L.A. Guns, Buckcherry, Puddle of Mudd, Tantric and Otep among others.

A journey of self-revelation, undying will, an homage to nature, and a celebration of the dark arts.

Recorded at Foel Studio by Chris Fielding of Conan (responsible for recording bands such as Winterfylleth, Electric Wizard, Primordial, Conan, Dyscarnate, Cerebral Bore, Latitudes, Witchsorrow, Mourning Beloveth, The Wounded Kings plus many more), Gyrdleah has managed to create its own unique sound that shows the true grandeur of its musical capabilities. Many will be left in shock and awe once they have heard this superb blackened metal album.

OATH OF CRANES (Ft. Ex-Celtic Frost Members) Stream New Single ‘Puja’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on March 27, 2023
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: OATH OF CRANES. Leave a comment

OATH OF CRANES – the new band from ex-Celtic Frost drummer Franco Sesa and ex-Celtic Frost guitarist Erol Ünala – turn doom metal on its head.

The band has released their new single ‘Puja’, taken from forthcoming debut album The Unsung Mantras, to be released 21st April via Klang Machine Records.

Stream and pre-order the record here: oathofcranes.lnk.to/puja

Franco Sesa combines his passion for eastern traditional music — particularly the mantra chants of Tibetan monks — with his love for hard rock to create a genuinely innovative wall of sound.

Starting off with the calm, yet uncanny ring of a meditation gong before hitting the listener in the face with Sesa’s hard-hitting drums, ‘Puja’ is a goosebump-inducing demonstration of the incredible energy created by combining walls of distorted guitars with bagpipe-evoking Tibetan horns, guttural chants, and the despairing voice of vocalist Fabrizio Merico.

It is the third and final single to be released from The Unsung Mantras.

Sesa comments: “Celebrate the negation of hope.
The act of hope should only be performed for a limited time. If the other person is not receptive, for whatever reason, the exercise should be discontinued. Inability is innocence. You should then put your energy to better use. Otherwise, there is a danger of hostility on the part of the one you hope for, with the aim of incomprehension through inability. Not necessarily out of malice. Let it go and move on.  Invest in yourself.
As the Mantra says:
From the unreal lead me to the real.
From the darkness lead me to the light.
From death lead me to immortality.”

The songs on The Unsung Mantras are dark and disturbing, yet beautiful and healing: traditional instruments and sounds from Asian heritage and cultures with shamanic roots, including singing bowls, horns and Tibetan monks’ chants, support the powerful and innovative metal celebrated on the album. The result vividly underscores the album’s Daoism-inspired concept and the band’s broader cultural influences, such as the choice of Sanskrit for song titles, imagery inspired by the Sadhu tradition, and the tribute to the uplifting virtues described by the iconography of Hindu deities. The Oath Of the Cranes is a promise: good death follows a good life.

Tracklisting:

1: Jivara (The Great Fever)
2: Rudra (The Superior Proposal)
3: Yama (Sacrifice of Introspection)
4: Krodhana – Noone Will Ever Miss You
5: Ahamkara (Who’s That Ugly Face in the Mirror)
6: Puja – Celebrate the Negation of Hope
7: Tamas (Obfuscation of the Third Eye)
8: Maya Pt 1 – To Cultivate Your Illusions
9: Maya Pt 2 – To Cultivate Your Disillusions
10: Akasha – Everything Holy is Profane
11: Kali (The Infinite Cycle of Transformation)
12: Sannyasi Mantra (Elegy of the Enlightened)

The record was produced by Oath Of Cranes, engineered at Switzerland’s New Sound Studio by Tommy Vetterli (Coroner, Eluveitie, Cellar Darling & more), and mastered at Sweden’s Fascination Street Studios by Tony Lindgren (Sepultura, Kreator, Witchcraft & more).

Oath Of Cranes are:
Franco Sesa (ex-Celtic Frost): Drums, songwriting, lyrics and concept
Erol Ünala (ex-Celtic Frost and Apollyon Sun): Guitar, sampling and drones
Chris Tragianidis: Rhythm and lead guitar, bass and keyboards
Fabrizio Merico: Lead vocals, video production and graphics
