SEPTICFLESH Celebrate 15 Years of “The Great Mass” with Special Anniversary Reissue, Out March 20th

Since the ‘90s, Septicflesh have elevated death metal to a fine art. Alongside their Athenian brothers-in-arms Rotting Christ and Nightfall, real-life flesh and blood Spiros and Christos Antoniou rose from the Greek underground alongside virtuoso shredder Sotiris Vayenas. After the trio re-communed with drummer Fotis Benardo at the Season of Mist table during the 2000s, the maestros set to work on composing their greatest masterpiece.

“Septicflesh generated a swarm of buzz around The Great Mass, destroying pre-conceived notions about symphonic death metal”, Loudwire wrote upon naming it the best metal album of 2011.

Today, Season of Mist is celebrating 15 years of The Great Mass by announcing a special anniversary reissue. Fans can now own this classic album on transparent red-and-black marbled vinyl. This new edition also includes a color poster and embroidered patch.

“The Great Mass has passed the test of time”, says Septicflesh guitarist and vocalist Sotiris Vayenas. “Songs such as ‘The Vampire from Nazareth’ and ‘Pyramid God’ are among the most successful in our repertoire. Now, it’s time to celebrate the album with the 15th anniversary edition courtesy of Season of Mist”.

The 15th anniversary edition of The Great Mass comes out March 20 on Season of Mist. Pre-order HERE.

Listen on the Season of Mist YouTube channel:

If Communion was a breaking of bread, then The Great Mass is the coronation of Septicflesh as the titans of death metal. Instead of shifting further in one direction, the album doubled down on the band’s brutal symphony. The return of the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra and the International Choir of Prague adds a gothic flair to the crushing lurch of immortal opener “The Vampire from Nazareth”. An army of strings, brass horns and riffs more blazing than the Sahara raise “Pyramid God” into an unshakeable setlist staple. No wonder Metal Hammer named this album one of the ten best symphonic metal albums of all time.

Tracklist

  1. The Vampire from Nazareth (4:08)
  2. A Great Mass of Death (4:46)
  3. Pyramid God (5:13)
  4. Five-Pointed Star (4:33)
  5. Oceans of Grey (5:11)
  6. The Undead Keep Dreaming (4:29)
  7. Rising (3:16)
  8. Apocalypse (3:55)
  9. Mad Architect (3:36)
  10. Therianthropy (4:28)

Septicflesh was formed in Greece in the early ’90s by Spyridon Antoniou (a.k.a. Seth Siro Anton): vocals/bass, Christos Antoniou: guitar and Sotirios Vagenas (a.k.a. Sotiris Anunnaki V.): guitar/ clean vocals. A debut Ep was released in 1991, entitled “Temple of The Lost Race”. Their first full-length album “Mystic Places of Dawn” was released in 1994, followed by “EΣΟΠΤΡΟΝ” that was released in 1995.

With the release of “Ophidian Wheel” in 1997, a female soprano vocalist (Natalie Rassoulis) was introduced, as the band moved towards a more symphonic style. “A Fallen Temple” (released in 1998) continued in the same musical direction. In 1999 “Revolution DNA” was released, followed by Sumerian Daemons in 2003, both albums produced by Fredrik Nordström.

Although the band’s popularity was growing, the band members decided to disband it, in order to focus on other personal projects and goals. But that wasn’t the end of the story… After a reunion, the band returned on Season of Mist with the album “Communion” in 2008, again with Fredrik Nordström at the helm of production. From that point and on, the symphonic element (composed by Christos Antoniou, that has a Master Degree in Concert Music) was fully implemented in the structure of the songs, with the collaboration of Filmharmonic Orchestra of Prague. Then followed “The Great Mass” (2011) with Peter Tägtgren as producer, “Titan” (2014) with Logan Mader as producer and “Codex Omega” (2017) with Jens Bogren as producer.

In 2020, the recording of the epic and fully orchestrated Live in Mexico entitled “Infernus Sinfonica MMXIX”, was released on CD/LP/DVD/Blu-Ray.

Septicflesh joined forces with Nuclear Blast records in 2021. The band released their latest album Modern Primitive in 2022. Once again Jens Bogren is responsible for the bombastic mix and sound production. Seth Siro Anton, who is also in charge of the visual aesthetics for the band, created a really intense cover and artwork. The band further developed its unique sound that combines emotional, symphonic/soundtrack music with Aggressive Death Metal. The songs have many layers, while on the same time they manage to be catchy. Besides the continuous collaboration with the Filmharmonic Orchestra of Prague, the band used a full adult choir, a full children choir and a variety of ethnic instruments.

WINTERFYLLETH Sign with Napalm Records + Announce New Album “The Unyielding Season”, First Single & Video ‘Heroes of a Hundred Fields’ Out Now

Napalm Records is proud to announce the signing of the UK’s black metal legends, WINTERFYLLETH. To celebrate this new partnership, the band unveils a new album, The Unyielding Season, set for release on March 27, 2026. Making a stand, WINTERFYLLETH’s ninth album is a social commentary wrapped in meticulously crafted poetry and prose. Where the preceding album, The Imperious Horizon (2024), described an ominous, malevolent force, lurking in the distance, The Unyielding Season now explores said threat becoming a reality. The raging wildfire to its predecessor’s calculating, icy cold, WINTERFYLLETH’s first offering for their new record label is a reflection and a rebellion against the turmoils tearing individuals apart. It is a cry against the unsustainable weight of fear and pressure being pushed into the world, by the agents of an unresting, and unyielding force for evil.

The first glimpse into the infernal release is “Heroes of a Hundred Fields”. WINTERFYLLETH weave an epic story into a raging battle hymn, describing brave minds joining forces against a common oppressor to fight for their freedom.

WINTERFYLLETH about “Heroes of a Hundred Fields”:
“‘Heroes of a Hundred Fields’ is framed in a wartime, battlefield setting and uses the premise of soldiers coming together, united as brothers, to fight against a foe who are powerful, oppressive, and domineering. It talks about how people should come together and fight for the freedoms they have and not succumb to those who would attack them and try to weaken them (or take them away entirely). There have been so many ideas and schemes pushed into the world over the last few years that only serve to erode people’s personal freedoms, slowly, little-by-little, until they are gone. This song talks about ‘lighting the beacons of rebellion’ against those who would seek to undermine the way of life and freedom that we all – hopefully – hold dear.”

Where our surroundings grow more challenging every day, WINTERFYLLETH offers a pause for respite and resistance. The world is on fire, and The Unyielding Season is a warning.

WINTERFYLLETH about The Unyielding Season:
“2026 marks a year of big changes for WINTERFYLLETH! A new label, a new member, a new album, and the landmark of 20 years making music together. We are enthused by what this new chapter will bring, and as a result, we are now able to share our ninth album, The Unyielding Season, with the world. It is also a powerful and virulent first output, through which we seal our new collaboration with Napalm Records.
In many ways, the new album is a reflection on – and a rebellion against – the turmoil’s and fears that are tearing the lives of many individuals apart. It is a cry against the unsustainable & constant weight of malevolence and pressure being pushed into the world by agents of an un-resting and unyielding force for evil. We hope the album resonates with you, stirs your soul, and gives you a source for hope. But, we also hope it makes you ask questions of your own circumstances and gives you pause to consider the unnerving state of the world we all share.”

Order Your Copy of The Unyielding Season NOW

“Heroes Of A Hundred Fields” is the first revolt on their ten-song manifesto, describing brave minds joining forces against a common oppressor to fight for their freedom.  The song unfolds in marvellous grandeur as chants of “Rebellions beacons now alight”, ring out against a tide of evil. With “Echoes In The After”, WINTERFYLLETH delivers a striking epic: adapted from a poem by Sir Philip Sidney’s late 16th-century romance “The Countess Of Pembroke’s Arcadia”, the track was written as a reaction to the felling of the famous ‘Robin Hood’ tree at Sycamore Gap on Hadrian’s Wall, in the North East of the UK. The following track, “A Hollow Existence”, opens up with galloping drums and explodes into equally aggressive and atmospheric black metal fireworks. The band’s trademark sound continues throughout “Perdition’s Flame” into the album’s title track, a powerful observation of our world’s current situation and a voice for those silenced by its hostility. Atmospheric masters WINTERFYLLETH then pause their rage, making room for “Unspoken Elegy”, an acoustic guitar-driven instrumental enriched by equally hopeful and menacing cello melodies—a hauntingly beautiful illustration of the dichotomy within The Unyielding Season. “In Ashen Wake” takes up the perilous undertone, taking its time before unveiling itself as another highly melodic black metal saga. “Toward Elysium” expands on that with a strong, old-school-inspired guitar riff, thrilling and catchy. Following another instrumental, the beautifully structured “Where Dreams Once Grew”, WINTERFYLLETH end the album running order with a bonus track, a cover of fellow Brits Paradise Lost’s “Enchantment”, originally released as the opening track on their 1995 classic Draconian Times.

UADA Announce New Acoustic Album “Interwoven” + Unveil Haunting Nirvana Cover ‘Something in the Way’

Enigmatic black metal masters UADA are pleased to now reveal that their upcoming acoustic album, ‘Interwoven,’ will be released on April 10 via Eisenwald Records. The album represents an acoustic journey tracing one song from each chapter of UADA’s discography as well as various covers from the bands who’ve inspired them. In celebration, the band is now sharing a haunting version of NIRVANA’s “Something in the Way,” which can be found along with a video at THIS LOCATION.

The video was filmed and edited by Karl Whinnery and directed by Jake Superchi, with Evan Gandy serving as the co-director of photography.

UADA comments, “When UADA was formed, a rule was set: no covers, in pursuit of carving a wholly independent voice. With ‘Interwoven,’ we allowed ourselves to bend that rule. Recruiting a cellist for this project created a rare alignment—a moment to pay homage to one of the most formative and regional influences of my youth. While staying close to the original arrangement, we allowed our interpretation to take on its own bleak, glacial weight—one that echoes through the song’s timeless sorrow.”

‘Interwoven’ is now available for pre-orders HERE.

In addition, UADA has joined forces with industrial metal artist MORTIIS for a very special co-headliner, featuring exclusive anniversary sets and supporting performances by Jerome Reuter’s ROME and WRAITH KNIGHT. UADA will be performing their seminal 2016 debut album ‘Devoid of Light’ in its entirety + a special CERMONIAL CASTINGS 30-year anniversary set featuring Wraith Knight. In addition, MORTIIS shall be performing songs from his groundbreaking 2001 full-length, ‘The Smell Of Rain,’ along with other volumes of dystopian despair. The full itinerary can be found below while tickets are now available HERE.

Moreover, after much demand from fans, UADA will be returning to Milwaukee Metal Fest for the second time since leaving their mark during the 2024 edition. The festival will take place at The Rave/Eagle’s Club from June 4 – 7, with UADA performing on the 7th. More info and tickets can be found HERE.

The cover art for ‘Interwoven’ was photographed by Peter Beste and can be found below along with the tracklisting.

“The idea of ‘Interwoven’ – an acoustic journey tracing one song from each chapter of our discography – was first envisioned on the very day UADA was conceived: October 1st, 2014,” says UADA founder and frontman Jake Superchi. “In those early conversations, when laying out the future I sought to create, I recall sharing the concept of a stripped, atmospheric interpretation, supported by the haunting resonance of strings – cello or violin. At the time, the notion was met with skepticism, perhaps even dismissal. Yet it was an idea I knew would one day take form. It had to.”

“UADA has always drawn from a wide spectrum of influences – many of which extend far beyond the traditional boundaries of black metal,” he continues. “With Interwoven, we sought to peel back the layers and reveal the vastness of these realms; to immerse the listener in both the foreign and the familiar, in textures that challenge and comfort in equal measure.”

“More than a sonic experiment, this album was a deliberate act of vulnerability. It was a personal and collective trial – a chance to step outside the acquainted shadows and embrace the uncertain light. The earliest intent was to craft something primitive and ritualistic, echoing the ancestral tones of ancient Pagan folk. Vocally, we anticipated a palette of whispers, chants, and throat singing. There was never a plan to explore clean, melodic singing – until an improvised vocal passage in “Djinn” revealed something unexpected. That unscripted moment sparked the foundation of what would become this album. With the band’s enthusiastic support, the recording process began – without a script, without rehearsal, and with full commitment to spontaneity and truth.”

Alex Landenburg’s ROKK Launches Free Direct Music Upload, Giving Independent Artists a Direct Way to Release Music on Streaming

Posted by tarjavirmakari on January 28, 2026
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: Alex Landenburg, ROKK. Leave a comment

ROKK Streaming has officially launched their Direct Music Upload, a new tool that allows artists to upload and release their music directly on the platform.

The service is free, requires no middlemen, and lets artists keep full control of the work.

Direct Music Upload is available to any artist who owns the rights to their music. This includes independent artists releasing on their own, artists using aggregators that are not yet integrated with ROKK such as DistroKid or CD Baby, and artists who have never released music publicly before.

“It’s hard enough to be an artist today, especially when you’re just starting out,” says ROKK co-founder Alex Landenburg, drummer of Kamelot and Cyhra. “With Direct Music Upload, we wanted to make releasing music simpler and fairer – and show that streaming can work differently, in a way that actually puts artists first.”

ROKK is known for higher-than-average payouts and a transparent, artist-first model. Unlike other streaming platforms, music on ROKK earns royalties from the very first stream, with no minimum play threshold.
Uploading music is free, and ROKK does not take a percentage of artist payouts.

Once their music is live, artists can immediately be supported by fans through ROKK’s Direct Artist Support feature. Direct Music Upload is available now to all registered ROKK artists and to new artists upon signup.
