Los Angeles-born heavy metal icons ALCATRAZZ unleash the furious new single, ‘Battlelines’, taken from the upcoming album, Take No Prisoners, set for release via Silver Lining Music on May 19th, 2023.
The track sees Alcatrazz delivering an epic heavy metal anthem, brimming with metallic chugging riffs, soaring melodic vocals, and ear-splitting drums.
“Battlelines is one of the songs we feel is very representative of the direction the band is at now and where we are going, which is powerful, heavy and melodic metal in that British and European style” enthuses Jimmy Waldo, Alcatrazz’s keyboardist and co-founding member. “In the mid 1980’s Alcatrazz strayed far too much from the direction of our debut album, that first record set the blueprint of what the band was all about and with the recent two albums over the last couple years and now even more so with this new one, ‘Take No Prisoners’, we are finally establishing the true sound of the band. If fans give this a listen they will hopefully find a lot to like!” “We look forward to adding Battlelines to the live set too.” adds bass-player and co-founding member Gary Shea “It’s about the use of radar in warfare from WW2 until the present day; real heads down heavy metal stuff!”
Alcatrazz are determined to make up for lost time, roaring forwards at warp factor 10 to deliver Take No Prisoners, their sixth studio album and the third in three years. Comprising of ten cracking, charismatic tracks, with each containing the unique fusion of classic American rock with the full grain hard-rocking attitude of British metal, Take No Prisoners sees Alcatrazz energetically soaring and exploring melodic progression with road-warrior riffs. ‘Little Viper’ rides a scything guitar into a thunderous, Dio-like assault, whilst the band also show their calmer, more expansive side with the epic ‘Strangers’, but when an album finishes at the burn point of ‘Bring On The Rawk’, there can be no question that Alcatrazz’s collective boot is repeatedly kicking serious ass!!!
Stream/watch Alcatrazz’s recently released anthem ‘Don’t Get Mad…Get Even’, featuring the legendary Girlschool here (video by Natalia Jonderko Śmiechowicz).
Comprised of Doogie White (vocals), Joe Stump (guitars), Jimmy Waldo (keyboards), Gary Shea (bass) and Larry Paterson (drums), and with Giles Lavery and Waldo producing, Take No Prisoners is a loudly and proudly classic rock album which draws on the Alcatrazz traditions of technically excellent screaming guitars, thunderous rhythm and the sort of vocals and overall aura that evoke prime Dio and Rainbow. And, of course, a primed and fully-tuned up Alcatrazz, whose career is fast taking on Benjamin Button proportions.
Following the success of Alcatrazz’s co-headline UK tour with Girlschool earlier this year, Alcatrazz show no sign of slowing down in their quest to ‘Bring the Rawk’ to the masses. Keep your eyes peeled for more 2023 dates to be announced soon. Visit www.alcatrazzofficial.com for updates.
Take No Prisoners will be released on CD Digipak, 12” Black Vinyl, Digital Download, Streaming and special D2C bundles. Available to pre-order now at at this location.
After the heroic death of Prince Angus, hope seemed to be fading for Scotland and the whole galaxy. But our mighty hero has fought his way back into the world of the living and presents, as ANGUS McSIX, the debut album, ANGUS McSIX and the Sword of Power, set for release on April 21, 2023, via Napalm Records. The new band, featuring ANGUS McSIX (Thomas Winkler), archdemon Seebulon (Sebastian “Seeb” Levermann), Nordic muscle berserker Skaw! (Manu Lotter) and the beautiful queen of the Lazer-Amazons, Thalestris (Thalia Bellazecca), contains adventures of unprecedented proportions within it. Risen from the realm of the dead, ANGUS McSIX is the last hope to free Scotland and mankind from all evil.
After the resounding success of their first single ever, “Master of the Universe”, reaching hundreds of thousands of views in no time, the epic adventure continues with the spectacular single and “Sixcalibur” and its official music video. The sword of power gives the prince unprecedented powers that are used in epic battles for the good of mankind. True to the motto “One Better”, the sword rises one level for every goblin killed.
ANGUS McSIX on “Sixcalibur”: “Its magical blade has blocked the passageway between the world of the living and the realm of death. For a hundred thousand years it served as a seal to banish the source of all evil in the hell of hell. Now Angus has drawn the sword and thus became Angus McSix. However, this has broken the seal, and Archdemon Seebulon returns to the world of the living. To defeat the origin of all evil, the sword must be brought to the highest level; only then it becomes Sixcalibur – Sword of Power!”
After Prince Angus heroically died in one of the greatest battles in the history of man and goblinkind, all hope in Scotland and the whole galaxy seemed lost. In the Realm of Martyrs, everything faded away for Angus like a blurry dream from the distant past. But when he is suddenly reminded that his home is being threatened, the prince sets out to return to the world of the living.
The only way is through a portal in the depths of hell, sealed by the almighty sword Sixcalibur. When Angus draws the blade, he undergoes a fundamental upgrade and transforms into the golden hero ANGUS McSIX, escaping the clutches of the underworld! Willing to defeat his old adversary once again, Angus has no idea that he has just opened the gateway back to the world of the living to a much darker power: Archdemon Seebulon – the source of all evil.

The first chapter of the warriors’ glorious return can be heard on the debut album, ANGUS McSIX and the Sword of Power.
While riding on the back of a Pegasus, head-bopping techno beats and synth-waves are abound on “Ride to Hell“. Driven by mighty harmonies and striking rhythms, Angus draws “Sixcalibur”, the Sword of Power, to open the sealed gate of hell. Catchy guitar solos underline the sword’s powerful capability of gaining higher levels each time an enemy is killed by its blade. “Master of the Universe” continues the epic adventure and marks the comeback of ANGUS McSIX as he returns from the abyss. Euphoric and energetic melodies mingle with his legendary powerful vocals. The portal does lead Angus back to Scotland, but directly to the dawn of time. After the glorious warrior defeats an invasion of hellish “Fireflies of Doom”, the dwellers of the Holy Dwarven Empire of Dundee provide him the “Laser-Shooting Dinosaur”, set to music in the energetic and catchy party track, reminiscent of the good old 8-bit video game days. As the last hope for this world, Angus is now to ride to the northern islands of Stenness to discover the secret of his own destiny…
ANGUS McSIX and the Sword of Power marks the mighty return of Thomas Winkler to the world of glorious power metal hymns and chant-along party tracks. As the former face of Gloryhammer for over a decade, ANGUS McSIX took no time to pause, building up his name across genres borders as one of the best entertainers in the metal scene with several guest appearances on projects like Nanowar Of Steel’s “Valhalleluja” and Feuerschwanz’s “Warriors Of The World United”. With ANGUS McSIX, he and his new allies and enemies are now ready to fight the biggest battles of the universe!

British Heavy Metal legends SAXON unleash the high-octane second single, “Razamanaz”, from More Inspirations – out this Friday, March 24th via Silver Lining Music. Following the release of Inspirations in 2021, More Inspirations is the second ‘deep dish’ serving of the influences which have fed the mighty Saxon’s immensely successful 40+ year career. The second single is a striking take on Nazareth’s “Razamanaz”.
Frontman Biff Byford comments “In the seventies we’d go and see Nazareth they were one of the premier touring hard rock bands. We were lucky to tour with them in 1980, they used to open the show with this song, it’s about the audience performed to an audience… brilliant stuff!”
Watch/Listen to the recently released “The Faith Healer”, the “making of” video directed by Jay Shredder, at this location.
Whether unveiling a sensational take on The Sensational Alex Harvey Band’s “The Faith Healer” (in the process showing the direct lineage from teenage turntables to international glory), getting feral with The Animal’s “We’ve Gotta Get Out Of This Place”, letting loose a high-octane take on Alice Cooper’s “From The Inside”, or laying down a ferocious tribute to KISS’ “Detroit Rock City”, More Inspirations is a joyous trip into the sounds which galvanized the Barnsley boys and continue to get spun on home stereos and tour buses.
Produced by vocalist/co-founder Biff Byford, with Seb Byford helping record the music alongside mixing engineer Jacky Lehmann, More Inspirations also includes enthusiastic takes on Alice Cooper, Rainbow, ZZ Top and Cream, as well as a thunderous “Razamanaz” by Nazareth, a tasty take on The Who’s “Substitute”, and a thick groove take on Uriah Heep’s “Gypsy”.
Whether this is your first dance with such classic songs, or you’ve come to see where Saxon were born, More Inspirations delivers the goods and then some.
Saxon’s More Inspirations is out this Friday, March 24th and is available on 12” Black Vinyl, CD Digipak, digital formats and special D2C bundles; to pre-order go to this location.
