Swedish Grindcore Veterans GADGET Stream New Single ‘Flatline’ from Upcoming EP

Swedish grindcore veterans GADGET return with a vengeance as Decibel Magazine hosts the exclusive premiere of their new single “Flatline”, offering a second taste of the upcoming EP “Coerced”, set for release on May 8, 2026 via De:Nihil Records.

“Flatline” delivers the abrasive intensity longtime fans expect, while unveiling sharper dynamics and subtle experimental shifts that hint at a band not simply returning, but evolving. With the upcoming EP, GADGET reaffirm their place among grindcore’s most uncompromising forces, ready to make their presence felt once again.

Stream “Flatline” at THIS LOCATION.

As previously mentioned, “Coerced” marks a fresh chapter for the band, being the first proper release since 2016 and the debut with the revitalized lineup featuring Emilia Henriksson on vocals and Kristofer Jankarls on guitar.

“Coerced” comprises seven tracks written between 2019 and 2023, alongside a re-recording of the 2017 track “Funerary Rites”, which had previously been released only digitally in 2020 and never received a physical release. True to GADGET’s signature style, the EP delivers their relentless blend of grindcore, hardcore punk, and death metal, now pushing even further into the uncomfortably dense territories of noise and doomy sludge. The new material preserves the abrasive intensity that longtime fans expect, while also introducing subtle twists and turns that keep the sound fresh and unpredictable.

With “Coerced”, GADGET prove that they are not just returning—they are evolving. The EP captures the raw energy, sharp dynamics, and small experimental touches that have always defined the band’s approach, making it a definitive statement of their ongoing relevance in the grindcore scene. This release is a bold reminder that GADGET remain masters of their craft, combining sheer brutality with inventive songwriting, and they are now poised to reignite their live performances and push forward with renewed determination. “Coerced” is the ultimate announcement: GADGET are back, stronger and more uncompromising than ever.

The first single “Gnistan” is now streaming HERE.

With the idea of playing grindcore heavily influenced by everything – but mostly death metal, hardcore/d-beat punk, and doom – GADGET was formed in the winter of 1999/2000 by William (drums, guitar, vocals) and Rikard (guitar, bass). Shortly after, they recorded their first demo, and with the addition of Emil (vocals) and Fredrik (bass), GADGET signed to Relapse Records, releasing three full-length albums between 2004 and 2016, along with several split releases with bands like EXHUMED, PHOBIA, and RETALIATION.

The band toured Europe, Scandinavia, and the US multiple times, sharing stages with Primitive Man, Vermin Womb, Lock Up, Cloud Rat, Implore, Crowpath, Napalm Death, Pyramido, Uprise, and others. They also played major festivals such as Brutal Assault (CZ), Obscene Extreme (CZ), Hellfest (FR), Netherland Deathfest, Bloodshed (NL), F*ck The Commerce (DE), Maryland Deathfest (US), and North West Terrorfest (US).

This lineup (Emil – vocals, Fredrik – bass, Rikard – guitar, William – drums) remained intact until fall 2019, when Emil left the band. With the help of friend Johan (Prescriptiondeath), they performed one final show before the COVID-19 pandemic struck in early 2020. The GADGET/RETALIATION split EP was recorded in early 2020 with the help of several friends contributing vocals on each track. One of them, Emilia Henriksson (Radium Grrrls), stayed on for live shows after the pandemic, and together with Kristofer Jankarls (Livet Som Insats, Axis of Despair, Infanticide), who had been a live session bassist and second guitarist on and off since 2019, they both joined the band full-time in 2023.

In 2026, GADGET returns with the new EP “Coerced”, marking a fresh chapter for the band. With renewed energy and determination, they aim to fully resume their activities and continue pushing the boundaries of their sound.

Line-up:

Emilia Henriksson – Vocals
Kristofer Jankarls – Guitar & vocals
Rikard Olsson – Guitar
Fredrik Nygren – Bass
William Blackmon – Drums

“Coerced” was recorded at The Overlook, Gävle, Sweden March-July 2025. Mixed later on.
”False Pulse”
recorded at Sätra Centrumstudion November 2025.
All lyrics by Emilia. Music by Rikard.
Guest vocals/lyrics on “Funerary Rites” by Johan Lundmark (PRESCRIPTIONDEATH, INFRACTION)

TODOMAL Announce Doomy New Album “Graveyards of Joy”, Out July 3rd

TodoMal are announcing their third album and first for Season of Mist. Graveyards of Joy arrives as the closing chapter of a trilogy that the atmospheric doom metal band started in 2021 with Ultracrepidarian and deepened in 2023 with A Greater Good.

To commemorate this announcement, today, TodoMal are releasing a music video for the album’s lead single “Point of Coalescence”. The song is a fitting entry point to Graveyards of Joy; it’s dense, dark and uncompromising, dealing in shame, violence and the slow erosion of consciousness, with surreal and cosmic horror imagery that gives it an unsettling, almost theatrical edge.

Graveyards of Joy comes out July 3, 2026 on Season of Mist. Pre-order: https://orcd.co/todomalgraveyardsofjoy

Graveyards of Joy channels grief, anger and hard-won hope through a sound rooted in the slow-burning weight of classic doom and dramatic rock. Vast Hammond organ-driven passages give way to desolate folk; strings with Morriconian openness sit alongside heavy, anchoring riffs. The album draws on a wide range of reference points, from the orchestral sweep of Vangelis and the warmth of Deep Purple to the dramatic sensibility of Tindersticks and Nick Cave, without losing the solemnity that defines TodoMal.

Catch TodoMal on tour this summer with Evoken, as well as additional festival dates.

TodoMal came to life in 2020, conceived by Anglo-Spanish musician and composer Christopher B. Wildman and musician, composer and producer Javier Fernández Milla: two veteran multi-instrumentalists of the Spanish underground scene whose careers span a wide range of projects and styles. A product of pure serendipity, TodoMal represents a deeply personal fusion of the solemnity of traditional doom metal and the expansiveness of space rock, interwoven with nuances of ecclesiastical music, classic hard rock and cinematic soundscapes.

Their debut album, Ultracrepidarian (2021), evokes the placid yet desolate moorlands of their base in northern Alcarria and the region of Matarraña (Teruel), two emblematic landscapes of Spain’s so-called “emptied lands.” With A Greater Good (2023), the duo crafted a collection of what they describe as “dark songs,” evolving into a complex, dense and unclassifiable album that appeared on several year-end lists and sold through its initial pressing. Fuelled by this momentum, they expanded into a five-piece live ensemble, joining forces with Javier Félez (guitar; Teitanblood, Graveyard, Balmog), Javier “Bud” Martínez (drums; Dejadeath, Jade, Ktulu) and Cecilia Tallo (keyboards/vocals; Maud the Moth).

Graveyards of Joy is the third album and the closing chapter of a trilogy. Written in solitude following personal tragedy, it channels grief, anger and hard-won hope into nine tracks of slow-burning, widescreen doom. The music breathes: vast Hammond-driven passages give way to desolate folk, Morricone-like strings open onto dusty cinematic plains, and heavy riffs anchor songs that never lose sight of melody. A DIY record of striking emotional depth and modern, alternative edge.

LOST IN KYIV Reveal New Video Single ‘Eclipse’ from Upcoming Album

Posted by tarjavirmakari on April 22, 2026

French post metal band Lost In Kyiv recently announced their new album We’re All Going To Be Fine, set for release on 19th June 2026 via Pelagic Records. They have also unveiled the new single / video from the album, ‘Eclipse’.

Stream and pre-save here: https://orcd.co/lostinkyiv

The band comment on the single: “‘Eclipse’ is a journey through contrasting atmospheres, shifting between light and darkness. The track moves from epic, melodic arrangements highlighted by a beautiful brass section, straight into one of the most violent moments we’ve ever composed. This contrast perfectly represents those dark phases within ourselves, the heavy & destructive thoughts that can sometimes arise within us.”

Over the course of more than a decade, Lost In Kyiv have refined a sound that fuses cinematic ambition, electronic precision, and visceral live energy into something unmistakably their own. With their new album, We’re All Going To Be Fine, they push that identity further than ever; sharpening their production, intensifying their dynamics, and embracing a darker, more immersive sonic architecture.

Lost In Kyiv comment: “We’re All Going To Be Fine explores the tension between hope and inner collapse, and how modern life can disconnect us from ourselves and each other. The songs were inspired by personal experiences, societal pressure, and the idea that we often become our own worst enemy. We were also inspired by the work of Carl Gustav Jung (who is the voice at the end of the album), especially his ideas about exploring the human psyche, as well as themes from movies like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind or Melancholia.”

Lost in Kyiv’s music has always thrived on tension between the organic and the synthetic. On We’re All Going To Be Fine, that integration reaches a new level of clarity and depth. The writing and production process was long and exacting, allowing the band to refine every transition and tonal detail. Songs unfold with architectural precision, motifs are introduced subtly before expanding into vast, multi-layered climaxes. Dynamics are handled with patience and control, silence and minimalism are deployed as strategically as explosive crescendos. This careful pacing gives the album a cinematic flow and larger narrative in which struggle and compassion coexist.

Guitars surge and recede in wide, panoramic arcs. At moments they shimmer and support, at others they thrash violently, accumulating layers of distortion and harmonic overtones. Acoustic instrumentation is interwoven with sequenced synth lines, pulsing arpeggiators, and carefully sculpted electronic textures that give the band’s sound a sense of forward propulsion.

Lost in Kyiv continue: “We always wanted to write music around strong themes, and for the first time, we decided to focus on something more internal than on previous albums. Our last four albums, except maybe Nuit Noire, were more about broader and more general themes. This time, we wanted to explore the fragility of mental health and the human psyche, the relation we have with ourself.”

Track list:
1. Enlightened
2. Burst
3. Mantra
4. Eclipse
5. Becoming
6. Euphoria
7. Liminality

Lost in Kyiv are:
Jean-Christophe Condette : Bass, Synths
Dimitri Denat : Guitars
Maxime Ingrand : Guitars, Synths, Machines, Programming
Jérémie Legrand : Drums, Programming

FLYKT Release First New Track ‘An Uncarved Block’ from Upcoming Album “Sinister Strain”

Swedish black metal outfit Flykt have unveiled the details of their forthcoming album Sinister Strain, due for release Hammerheart Records on 19th June. The band have unveiled ‘An Uncarved Block’, the first single from the record, which is streaming now below.

Pre-order Sinister Strain here: https://flykt.lnk.to/sinisterstrain

Flykt comment on the track: “The straightforward approach of this track works well as an introduction to the upcoming album. The concepts of death and rebirth—the shedding of skin and voluntary sacrifice as tools for elevation—are not only present here but are central to Sinister Strain as a whole. Come now, take form and take shape in this shrine of things to come…”

Formed in Stockholm in 2016, Flykt emerged as an essential creative outlet for those involved and as a sign of defiance amid decay, operating from the periphery rather than the center.

In 2019, the band released its debut full-length album Charnel Heart, through Folter Records. Later the same year, Flykt followed up with the two-track EP Through the Earth and Through the Sun. Since then, Flykt has continued its work away from view, shaping the material for its second full-length album.

Track-list:
1. You Will Know Them by the Reek of Defeat
2. Transcendent Rebellion
3. An Uncarved Block
4. The Release and Descent
5. Armed With Countless Daimons Seeking Abode
6. Rebirth in the Name of Reprisal
7. Unswerving Strife, Unyielding Will
8. A Furnace for the Stars
9. There Comes the Light

Power Metal Legends MASTERPLAN Unveil New Visualizer ‘Electric Nights’ from Upcoming Album

Power metal legends MASTERPLAN are pleased to unveil the new single and accompanying visualizer, “Electric Nights”, taken from the upcoming new studio album, “Metalmorphosis”, set for release on June 26, 2026, via Frontiers Music Srl.

Roland Grapow commented: “Electric Nights” is our road anthem – loud, fast, and born for life on tour. It drops right as we are in the middle of our European tour, and it couldn’t fit better. It’s classic heavy metal – big riffs, strong energy, no bullshit. Just pure fun and power. This release is dedicated to our loyal fans: those who stand with us at every show, sing every word, and keep the flame of heavy metal alive”.

Masterplan are currently on tour across Europe. For the full list of dates, please see below and HERE.

Pre-Order “Metalmorphosis” HERE

Grapow expressed his enthusiasm for the record – the first new songs since “Novum Initium”, released in 2013: “Metalmorphosis” really captures what this album means to us: a transformation, but still true to the spirit of Masterplan. We’ve grown over the years, both as musicians and as people, and you can hear that in the new songs. Some ideas go back many years, and now they’ve finally come to life. It’s powerful, melodic, and emotional – classic Masterplan, but with a new energy”.

Masterplan stand among the most enduring and influential names in German power metal. Founded in 2001 by guitarist Roland Grapow and drummer Uli Kusch following their exit from Helloween, the band quickly established a distinctive identity built on strong melodies, technical precision, and an epic yet modern metal approach.

Their self-titled debut album, released in 2003, was met with widespread critical acclaim and immediate chart success, setting the standard for a career defined by consistency and evolution.

Over the years, Masterplan have released several highly regarded albums – including “Aeronautics”, “MK II”, “Time To Be King” and “Novum Initium” – each showcasing refined songwriting and a powerful balance between classic power metal energy and progressive elements.

Their work earned them international recognition, extensive touring across Europe and beyond, and industry accolades that confirmed their status as a leading force in the genre.

After a prolonged hiatus from studio releases, Masterplan have re-emerged with renewed creative drive. The band recently signed a new worldwide deal with Frontiers Music SRL, marking a significant milestone and the beginning of a new chapter in their career.

This partnership sets the stage for their long-awaited return with a brand-new studio album, “Metalmorphosis”, representing both transformation and continuity: a heavier, more aggressive edge combined with the melodic sophistication that has always defined Masterplan’s sound.

With renewed focus, sharpened songwriting, and decades of experience behind them, Masterplan are poised to reaffirm their relevance and deliver one of the most anticipated power metal releases of the year.

FANTOM: F.O.A.D. Records Present Remastered Edition of Hungarian Cult Black/Thrashers’ Demo “Lucifer jelenj meg!”

Posted by tarjavirmakari on April 22, 2026
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: F.O.A.D. Records, FANTOM. Leave a comment

A long-lost relic of Eastern European extreme metal resurfaces in definitive form, as F.O.A.D. Records present a newly remastered edition of FANTOM’s seminal demo material, now available on vinyl.

Remastered by Patrick Engel, this upgraded version captures the raw essence of one of Hungary’s earliest and most obscure black/thrash entities, often regarded as even darker and more sinister than their contemporaries.

This official reissue includes the band’s classic 1987 demo “Lucifer jelenj meg!”, now expanded with 7 additional tracks taken from a rare 1987 session not featured in the previous 2016 vinyl edition. The material has been re-transferred from a rediscovered tape – the best sounding source in existence – and meticulously remastered for vinyl by Patrick Engel at Temple Of Disharmony.

Drawing influence from bands such as Bathory, Possessed, Hellhammer, Venom and Slayer, FANTOM forged a primitive yet highly distinctive sound. Their songwriting is direct and unrefined, but steeped in a uniquely oppressive atmosphere of darkness, malevolence and occult tension.

The release comes as a silver laminated LP, including two inserts featuring lyrics, rare photographs and original artwork, preserving the band’s visual and sonic identity in full detail.

A crucial document of early black/thrash from behind the Iron Curtain: raw, obscure and essential for collectors and devotees of the genre’s darkest origins.
