Grizzly Butts / Mystification Zine is now hosting the official premiere of “Voice From The Altar”, the new single from Italian death-black metallers FERAL FORMS. Stream it HERE.
After some months stirring the cauldron in the underground, Italy’s FERAL FORMS emerge from the depths with their first ferocious EP, “Premalignant”.
Comprised of current and former members from Grime, The Secret, Claustrum and Fierce, the 4-piece conjures the unholy Gods of Death Metal and pushes their sound to a new level of tonal corruption, with tension-inducing stop/start angularity and a devouring thrust that would almost sound punk if it wasn’t so molten and creepy. Telluric drums and barbaric riffing collide, resulting in a putrid destructive mass of volcanic low end that incinerates everything in its path.
Tracklist:
01. Hunter of Chaos 02. Premalignant 03. Voice from the Altar
Night Terrors Records and Filth Junkies will issue “Premalignant” on MC and digital formats on December 15th. The EP was mixed and mastered by Gabriele Gramaglia (Cosmic Putrefaction). Find preorders and the first single, the title-track, at THIS LOCATION.

Following their latest, much acclaimed 2019-album Brotherhood of Metal, January 12, 2024 sees heavy metal icons THE RODS release their forthcoming studio offering, entitled “Rattle The Cage”! The album will be available as CD Digipak, Ltd. Vinyl LP and Digital formats via Massacre Records , the pre-sale has just just recently started at: https://therods.bfan.link/rattlethecage
After THE RODS have shared a first appetizer, the album title track, today they are premiering a music video for their new single “Shockwave“! Says David “Rock” Feinstein:“This again, like “Rattle The Cage”, was a title that Carl had sent me with some lyric ideas, and came to completion the same way as “Rattle The Cage”. It’s basically just a rock song that interprets how you feel, as the artist playing it, or a fan listening. It’s reminiscent of a Motörhead song, as an all out balls to the wall rock ‘n’ roll song. Basic, and to the point. There have been times when THE RODS have been referred to as the “American Motörhead”, so in this song that’s what it feels like. Fast, Loud, and always proud.
THE RODS are a storied heavy metal band that rocked their way through the ‘80s with a powerful, raw energy. Once the go-to opening act for some of the biggest metal bands in the world, THE RODS toured throughout the ‘80s with the likes of Judas Priest, Ozzy Osbourne, and Iron Maiden, among others. Along with contemporaries like Anvil and Raven, THE RODS are an integral part of what is commonly recognized today as Heavy Metal’s “golden age,” and emerged during the New Wave of British Heavy Metal.
Heavy, dark, deep, insightful, and maybe even a bit more inciteful than ever before: Their upcoming album, “Rattle The Cage”, is THE RODS at their incendiary best! Lyrically, they’ve taken a cue from David “Rock” Feinstein’s cousin, Ronnie James Dio, providing the listener with a similar sense of hope and resiliency in the face of an ever-changing world. Musically, the band is tighter than ever! Founding members David “Rock” Feinstein and Carl Canedy are joined by new bassist Freddy Villano (Quiet Riot, Widowmaker), and the results are simply sublime: The songs are rhythmically tighter, yet more musically unbound, the grooves heavier, and the melodies more dynamic.
Mixed and mastered by Chris Collier, “Rattle The Cage” benefits from his masterful, modern touch, with the kind of sound that will simultaneously appeal to core fans as well as new generations of listeners! THE RODS epitomize the term power-trio, and the word “power” has never been more evident in their music than it is now. 2024 will mark THE RODS’ 45th anniversary, in support, they will be playing many special dates and performances to commemorate 45 years together. With such an impressive history firmly notched in their collective belt, THE RODS are still firing on all cylinders, and as eager as ever to crank it up, louder than loud!

Andorran extreme prog metal unit PERSEFONE unveils their upcoming EP, Lingua Ignota: Part I, set for release on February 2, 2024 via Napalm Records! Acclaimed in the global metal scene, PERSEFONE has previously taken over live stages at huge festivals such as Wacken Open Air, Brutal Assault and 70,000 Tons of Metal, and has toured with many acknowledged artists, such as Obscura and Ne Obliviscaris on their 2023 European tour. They also toured South America as headliners and their European headliner tour is set for February 2024. Beyond this, with their stunning 2022 record, metanoia, the band even graced the cover of Metal Hammer Magazine (ES).
Today, catch a first glimpse of the band’s newest opus – the incredible new single, “One Word”. The track kicks off a new era for PERSEFONE, as Lingua Ignota: Part I is the first release with the band’s new vocalist, Daniel Rodríguez Flys, who has already joined the band on several tours in the past. The track is accompanied by a stunning new music video, forming the band’s rich soundscapes into a visual highlight.
Carlos Lozano (guitar) comments: “’One Word’ embodies all that Lingua Ignota is meant to be, both musically and lyrically. With a much more organic and band oriented approach on the writing for this new release, ’One Word’ was the first step towards the sound we were trying to define with the new music. A sound where every instrument, word, note and hit, had its place – avoiding meaningless passages or transitions. Every sound working to help the next one, and all of them being held together by something bigger.”
Watch below the Official Music Video for “One Word”.
Technical proficiency and modern progressive metal elements drenched in melodic death metal influences are at the core of PERSEFONE’s sound, and the outfit’s new vocalist, Daniel Rodríguez Flys, brings a fresh edge to his first record with the band. As successor to the stunning 2022 release, metanoia, PERSEFONE expand on Lingua Ignota: Part I – their collaboration with the renowned David Castillo – who produced, recorded and mixed the new album at Studio Gröndahl in Stockholm, Sweden. Castillo is well-known for his phenomenal work with genre giants such as Opeth, Dark Tranquillity and Leprous, as well as label mates Katatonia and Candlemass.
Creeping in with a hauntingly beautiful intro, keyboards and electronic influences build up the atmosphere on the opening track “Sounds And Vessels” before screams lead into a brutal breakdown. Following the shockingly abrupt ending, the breathtaking second track “One Word” kicks right off with pounding drums, screams and growls before introducing a catchy, melodic chorus. Church bells ring for “The Equable”, and the listener is carried away by irresistible heavy riffs leading to a massive chorus. Starting with surprisingly delicate guitar melodies and chanting vocals, the beautiful title track “Lingua Ignota” impresses with skilled instrumentation and exceptionally rich soundscapes. Cinematic closing track “Abyssal Communication” wraps up Lingua Ignota: Part I.
PERSEFONE’s new offering convinces with top-tier songwriting that keeps the listener captivated through the album, showcasing impressive variety in soundscapes, and once again proves that this band can’t be pigeonholed.

In a resounding fusion of darkness and divinity, French Extreme Metal sensation DAMNATIONIS is thrilled to announce the release of their latest lyric video, “God is the Devil.”
“God is the Devil” is a compelling track taken from DAMNATIONIS’ upcoming album, “The Fallen Princess,” set for re-release via Wormholedeath. In a profound exploration of belief, the song questions the very essence of divinity, where light and darkness converge in a provocative embrace.
The band’s haunting and thought-provoking composition can be experienced by watching the video here:
DAMNATIONIS is a French Extreme Metal band that started near Metz in 2018. They blend classic Black Metal influences with newer Metal styles, shaping their music into a Black Death Symphonic Metal sound. Their lyrics often explore themes from Gothic literature, mythology, and horror, giving their music a dark and immersive vibe.
Within the Extreme Metal scene in Lorraine, DAMNATIONIS has gained a strong reputation. They’ve rocked the stage at festivals like DEAD HOUSE FEST and shared billing with big international names such as NEGATOR, AGATHODAIMON, and ZORNHEYM.
Their latest milestone is the release of their first album, “THE FALLEN PRINCESS,” featuring 10 tracks. It was mixed and mastered at HAVOC Studio, known for its expertise in Metal music. The album’s cover art was a collaboration with Damian Augustyniak of GuzikArt, who’s worked with famous bands like SLAYER, EXODUS, and SABATON.

Extreme Management Group (EMG), home to bands like Suffocation, Atheist, Rings of Saturn, and more, has announced their partnership with Death Metal band MURDERHORDE.
MURDERHORDE can be found in the seemingly unimaginable space where progressive structuring, atypical death metal riffs, blistering yet precise jazz percussion and an undeniably hardcore vocal presence intersect. Founded in 2021 as an expressive outlet by bassist Mike Belasco, MURDERHORDE borrowed it’s name from a fictional troupe of murderous warriors known as Khornate Berserkers, whose “sole purpose in life is to destroy their enemies in the name of the Blood God and take life in the most brutal and barbaric fashion imaginable”-something Belasco aimed to emulate through the music. MURDERHORDE emerged onto the rapidly growing underground metal scene in Coastal Virginia with debut EP, ‘Ritual’, and was shortly thereafter rounded out with the addition of vocalist Chase Ellis, followed by guitarists Ben Keckley and Riley Barringer, and drummer Kevin Garcia.
The EP, originally composed by Belasco, explored lyrical themes of deceit, corruption and a distrust for authority, the backdrop being a variety of musical styles. From the jagged and labyrinthine bursts of ‘Connection Severed’ to the brooding and melancholic pummeling atmosphere presented in ‘Memento Mori’ to the thrash inspired and groove infused opener ‘Intrepid Decay’, one thing to be expected of MURDERHORDE is absolute ferocity.
Metalnoise.net reviewed ‘Ritual’ upon release with such praise as “The path to all out destruction is marked by the trail of the dead by the time mid EP offering ‘Connection Severed’ hits, it’s swirling, turbulent riffs with staccato moments marking the territory in blood.” calling the release “a nightmarish vision in black, the sound of the waves crashing on a rocky cliff face during a storm in the depths of the blackest of nights” and rating the EP an 8/10.
In a world oversaturated by countless acts droning along to the trends set before them, MURDERHORDE dares to lay against the grain. This is more present than ever in the band’s latest offering, a single titled ‘The Dissident’. Showcasing the talents of the full band the single boasts Garcia’s signature rhythmic complexity paired with the blackened influence of Keckley and Barringer’s lightning fast tremolo picking and capped off with an elegant and tasteful solo performed by the latter. The lyrics for ‘The Dissident’ were inspired by the myth of creation from J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Silmarillion, placing the listener in the mind of one who challenges the intent of God himself- showing Ellis and Belasco’s love for epic high fantasy.
MURDERHORDE has no plans of slowing down anytime soon, with a new single out now on Metal Injection (below) and a full length album in the works. MURDERHORDE will continue to deliver perplexing, ravenous and thought provoking material for the foreseeable future.

Now the band has signed with Extreme Management Group, and had the following to say about the partnering, “EMG has shown us many doors, with even more yet to be revealed, and have only asked that we continue to sacrifice our foes to the Blood God.” EMG said, “We anticipate big things to come from our partnership with MURDERHORDE.”
