Fotis Sotiropoulos commented about the song: “When we were in the studio recording this song, I asked Tasos to make a growl voice in the finale, I strongly believed it would fit perfectly, I still do. Tasos refused, so I decided to take over and took my place behind the microphone full of confidence. After a couple of tries, I almost choked myself to death coughing, while the others outside burst out laughing and asking for more. Nevertheless, even without growls “Disobey” is a very powerful and modern song. It’s a reminder to people to always question authorities. Leaving them unquestioned can be a really dangerous thing.”

Friday, October 6th marked the release date of OCTOBER TIDE‘s seventh studio album “The Cancer Pledge” on Agonia Records and the beginning of the first leg of the band’s European tour.

Recent output has seen OCTOBER TIDE tone down on the doom particle, and throw the listener in a colder embrace of a melodic death metal rainstorm. This trend remains consistent on “The Cancer Pledge”, and overlaps with the direction spearheaded by guitarist Fredrik Norrman (ex-Katatonia, ex-Trees Of Eternity, Thenighttimeproject), keen on rejuvenating OCTOBER TIDE with a touch of the past. “It’s a direct continuation of the previous album,” states Norrman. “Less doom and more death metal, yet melodic and with more layers. I’ve searched for inspiration in records I listened to in the 80’s and 90’s when I grew up. But it still sounds like October Tide.”
The sound of OCTOBER TIDE, aside from being doom intertwined melodeath, is fronted by emotionally compelling guitarwork, known to subside into melancholic and introspective tones. Even though the band has shapeshifted over the years – starting off as a duo of Katatonia fame musicians, FredrikNorrman and Jonas Renske, back in 1994 – it has retained and evolved its trademark formula. The present-day line-up, intact since 2016, features said guitarist & founder Fredrik Norrman, second guitarist & Fredrik‘s brother Mattias Norrman (ex-Katatonia), vocalist Alexander Högbom (ex-Demonical), bassist Johan Jönsegård (Letters From The Colony) and drummer Jonas Sköld (Letters From The Colony / Thenighttimeproject).
“The Cancer Pledge” was recorded and produced in 2023 by OCTOBER TIDE and Karl Daniel Lidén (Bloodbath, Katatonia). The latter mixed and master the album, whose cover artwork was designed by Albin Högbom.

Swedish blackened death metallers NIGHT CROWNED have released the second single “Flickan Som Försvann”, taken from the band’s upcoming album “Tales”. Following the successful launch of their first single “De Namnlösa”, the band keeps captivating listeners with their mesmerizing blend of dark and atmospheric soundscapes.
Vocalist K. Romlin states: ”Flickan Som Försvann was the first demo I wrote lyrics for. I was inspired by an old Swedish punk song, but I wanted the words to be more graphic, more horrific, almost provocative, and I think I managed to do that. This is by far the darkest lyrics I have ever written.“

“We’re excited to share ‘Warpaint’ as the first single,” says Pauley. “We feel like it bridges the gap between the OM&M you’ve heard and known, and what’s to come. ‘Warpaint’ is a heavy and anthemic song about resilience, and rallying the courage to face your fears head on.”
Taking all creative matters into their own hands, the Southern California quartet self-produced and engineered all of the songs on Tether, their astonishing eighth album. Pauley mixed and mastered the album while Arteaga designed and painted the album’s artwork. As a legion of devoted listeners worldwide has come to expect, guitarists Phil Manansala and Alan Ashby, Aaron, and Tino poured their hearts and souls into every note, creating another sonic document of their lives.
“With this one, we weren’t really focused on how it sounded as much as we focused on how it felt,” Pauley explains. “And that’s a weird thing to do when all you’re working with is sound. But that was really the goal. And we walked away from making it, feeling like we’ve accomplished that.”
OM&M take sobering looks at depression, anxiety, loneliness, and existential dread, powering through the darkness, and emphasizing the importance of creativity as a balm for mental health. A commanding tempest of sounds coalesces within Of Mice & Men, blending the uplifting eloquence of modern active rock with the atmospheric dissonance of experimental post-rock. The band first emerged as part of a vanguard of future aggressive rock hitmakers. Over the years, they’ve distinguished themselves with musicality, creative ambition, and resilient determination.
Album eight is no less ambitious. Tether is anchored by a reflective meditation on what it means to draw together as friends, family men, artists, and bandmates. What does it mean to be there for the people who depend on us, knowing we can’t fully protect them from the hardships of life?
Tether is the next step in OM&M’s evolution, combining their core sound with experimental and ethereal sound designs. The creative process focused on the excitement of discovery rather than preconceived “goals.” Pursuing the moments when the elusive “x factor” reveals itself in the songs. Those moments are palpable in songs like “Integration,” “Warpaint,” “Enraptured,” and “Indigo.”
The Of Mice & Men core since 2016 – Aaron, Alan, Tino, and Phil – maintain a powerful bond with their audience and each other, no matter the obstacles. Whether a powerful anthem or atmospheric confession, their songs translate in intimate clubs and massive festivals. “It’s about creating moments for people,” Pauley says. “Music is the soundtrack to people’s lives.”
THREE EYES OF THE VOID was initially a one-man studio project by Ukrainian musician Dmytro Kvashin. The debut EP entitled “The Moment of Storm” was recorded with the support of Alexander Ksiarum, who was responsible for the drums. The material was produced by Oleg Olgerd Rubanov, a musician from the Ukrainian band Kroda, who has a successful track record of working with 1914 on the production and mixes of some of their releases. After the debut material, Dmytro began his first attempts to release a full-length album. Unfortunately, he soon left work on the debut and dropped out of the recording session. The band’s inability to complete a live line-up led Three Eyes of the Void to disappear somewhere in the shadows.
However, everything changed in 2021 when Dmytro visited Poland. In Gdańsk, he comes across Arkadiusz Niziołek and Marcin Urban – former drummer and guitarist of Sacrilegium, a legend of the black metal underground in Poland. In a short time, Jakub Milszewski, the bassist of groove/thrash metal band Perpetual, joined the band. With this line-up, Three Eyes of the Void returns to the project of releasing a full-length debut.
With the beginning of 2023, the band presents a premiere number that serves as a preview of their upcoming material. The composition “Against the One“, inspired by the philosophy of Friedrich Nietzsche, is composed with the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war in the background. The track was presented via the Black Metal Promotion channel. The band is starting to make more and more appearances with Trauma and Gorycz, among others. In August, Three Eyes of the Void appears on the line-up of the German festival Under The Black Sun and shares the stage with bands such as Messiah, Urgehal, Nargaroth and Craft. Meanwhile, the band features on the cassette compilation Solid Rock in Hell Vol. I. The start of their collaboration with SolidRock PR led to a signing contract with Folter Records (Nocturnal Breed, Sarkom, Urgehal, Odium Humani Generis).
Debut album “The Atheist” is over 40 minutes of atmospheric black metal that explores the themes of “Death of God and Mortality” – a well-known maxim of Friedrich Nietzsche. The lyrics focus on the human conflict between belief in God and enlightenment, rejecting the concept of a conscious creator. The songs reflect the helplessness and confusion of a man, who, realizing the absence of God, begins to feel like another artifact of an entropy.
On “The Atheist“, the band repeatedly explores related areas of metal music. Atmospheric black often gets mixed with the space of progressive music and the overwhelming heaviness and darkness of post metal. All this is surrounded by a dark, melancholic and bitter atmosphere, which only fuels the vision of the hopelessness and despair of human existence. Three Eyes of the Void embarks on a journey to prove that coming to terms with one’s weaknesses may be the only way out for those seeking answers to the question: who am I and why am I?

Eagon was born in 2018 from the initiative of bassist and composer Valeria Tritto to start a collaboration with vocalist Monica Cimmarusti and thus give concrete form to songs that have long remained unreleased. “Equilibrium” is the first album produced and released by the duo.
