Metallic hardcore outfit Capra have unleashed their sophomore full-length, Errors, via Metal Blade Records / Blacklight Media Records. Maintaining all the elements that made their 2021 debut so compelling – raucous energy, frantic riffs, the from-the-gut lyrics and soul-searing delivery of vocalist Crow Lotus – Capra has stepped things up on this record, with stronger songwriting and a determination to reach the next level. Coming primarily from a hardcore background, giving listeners a sense of nostalgia for the sounds of the late 90’s and early 2000’s hardcore and punk scenes, but also incorporating elements of metal that complement the overall tone, everything Capra does on Errors resonates with emotion; nothing is forced.

Canada’s The Metal Voice recently spoke to Anvil’s singer guitarist Steve ‘Lips’ Kudlow about the bands upcoming tour, Anvil documentary and upcoming new album.
When asked about the upcoming Canadian regional tour from October 12th to November 18th 2023 “We’re in the in between. We just got back from Germany, I just finished recording our 20th album and that that went really well. I can tell you this. I can honestly say that it’s (new album) is a bookend to our career in a certain sense. The way we started out is the way we’re ending up. It’s actually quite interesting, a complete circle. What do I mean by that? What we recorded is probably going to be as accessible, if not more accessible than Metal on Metal.”
When asked if this will be the last Anvil album “I don’t know maybe there’s another album or two. I’m 67 dude, I got heart problems. I don’t know how much longer I got you know what I mean. Life has a beginning, middle and end that’s the way it works for everybody no one gets out alive, no exception.”
When asked if they will play any of the new album live (recently recorded) “No you can’t do that. In the old days you could but that’s before social media and people filming every night. I really don’t want to release new songs by somebody videotaping me with their with their phone at a gig. I’d rather put the real recording out there.”
When asked about the recording of the new album ” I was so well prepared this time, I finished everything within probably two weeks. I finished way earlier. We booked five weeks and I was done in three. I’m not complaining, I’m just saying that that’s just the way it went. I went in really prepared. It only took about two or three days to to put all the bed tracks down of 14 songs and then for seven days straight. “
When asked if after the tour will Anvil be working on anything else “No we’re not doing anything until then the new album comes out and that could be not till next summer. So next summer and between between November and I guess May or June I’m going to be getting a procedure done to my heart. I’ve got this atrial fibrillation which is not a good thing. They got to put a wire into a vein and then up into my heart and burn some nerve endings that are making my heart beat irregularly and that’s how they fix it. It’s not open surgery or anything it’s just done in two hours I’m going to be doing that probably in November and December and then after that’s done I’m gonna probably begin writing for the next album 21. By the time that we go out on tour for the newest album that I just finished I will have the new album like the last time. I’ll have the another new album already written it’s a cycle.”
STRIGOI were already plenty unsettling on their debut album. But the UK death-doom band’s follow-up pushed their grinding asphyxiations to such vile extremes, that it produced an abundance of putridity.

“We are pleased to finally do this, as ultimately ‘Bathed In A Black Sun’ as a track is lamentably all the more relevant today than it was when it was written”, says bassist Chris Casket. “We also wanted to release this EP as a companion to the album ‘VISCERA’, so finally all the tracks recorded during that studio session are available for all to ‘enjoy’ the extra cuts of raging spite and cold despair.”
Greg Mackintosh already had one side project from his main gig as the guitarist for Paradise Lost. But when Vallenfyre ran its course, he started Strigoi with bassist Chris Casket in hopes of dragging death and doom metal even further afield.
‘Bathed In A Black Sun’ proves that Strigori can mold nasty blackened death doom from anything – even their own remains.

When Paradise Lost guitarist Greg Mackintosh put to rest his Vallenfyre side project in 2018, he closed a difficult, but ultimately cathartic period in his life. Created as a tribute to his father John, who passed away in 2009, Vallenfyre originally served as a sounding board for Greg’s grief, but then delved into his nihilistic take on the world. Vallenfyre’s brief existence was intentional — the band always knew they could go no further than the three studio albums that bore their name.
A mere few days after Vallenfyre played its last live show in September 2018, Mackintosh announced the formation of a brand-new band with Vallenfyre bassist Chris Casket (Ex. Extreme Noise Terror), Strigoi. The English twosome released their debut album Abandon All Faith on 22nd November 2019 which was met by widespread critical acclaim and support. From this success, the band began preproduction to take the project live, recruiting to the line-up drummer Guido Zima (Ex Implore / The Secret) and live guitarist Sam Kelly-Wallace (Ex Vallenfyre) to begin spreading their foreboding gospel throughout the European festival circuit.
Unfortunately, due to the global pandemic that hit Spring 2020 Strigoi were unable to perform live as planned, and realising this situation was going to be a long-term constraint Greg and Chris decided to begin writing for a second album. This 18-month process culminated in Strigoi signing to Season Of Mist records, then heading to Orgone Studios UK to track 14 brand new songs under the watchful eye of award winning producer Jamie Gomez Arellano.
The bands line up, now set with the addition of guitarist Ben Ash (Satyricon / Ex. Carcass) completed the recording of the album ‘Viscera’ in October 2021, subsequently mixed by Kurt Ballou at GodCity Studios and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege Studios. ‘Viscera’ represents the further evolution of Strigoi as a band, a concept fully realised as a statement of terror, malaise, and ultimately a record representing what Greg and Chris wanted to achieve from the band’s inception.
Their new ‘Bathed in Black Sun’ EP includes five unreleased songs from the recording sessions for ‘Viscera’. The title track is pure, unadulterated filth, slimed with sludge riffs and a crusty drum groove.

Formed in 2007, DUST BOLT have been resolute and ruthless in their pursuit of metal glory over the last 16 years. Childhood friends with a collective passion for metal in all its various forms, the quartet have established themselves as one of Europe’s leading thrash metal bands.
Yet, Sound & Fury marks an album that refines and noisily redefines the DUST BOLT sound for a new era. Written during those isolated months of pandemic lockdown, the new record represents the peak of the band’s creativity, and a major leap forward in every department. The first DUST BOLT record to feature new bassist Tom Liebing, alongside Lenny Bruce, guitarist Florian Dehn and drummer Nico Remann, Sound & Fury grew from a long period of self-reflection that began when the world shut down.
“Sound and Fury was created during the probably darkest and most difficult time for the band.” DUST BOLT reveals. “First time in our lives, since we were kids, we were somehow separated from another and the dream we lived together seemed to stopped. It was during the pandemic days, when the band even decided to take a break from one another, when Flo came up with this beautiful piece of music – not knowing how he would channel and express our feelings, leading to LB putting some Dust Bolt unusual, but heartfelt vocals on it and having Nico introducing a disco beat to a metal song in the end. We didn’t know what was happening – we just did it. We did know, there’d be a million voices saying we can’t put this up on a Dust Bolt record. But more than that we knew „as long as we stick together, we can do anything the *** we want“ . Sound and Fury is a story about friendship, struggle & inner turmoil. SuF is a story about us. Although still rooted in thrash and old school metal, the new record adds dazzling colour and diversity to the band’s trademark sound. With pummelling grooves, spine-tingling dynamics and a startling, part-melodic vocal performance from Lenny Bruce, with an analogue mix by Moritz Enders [Revolverheld, Silbermond], the new songs mark the beginning of a new era of DUST BOLT destruction. Simultaneously catchier than any previous record and grittier and heavier than before, Sound & Fury is the sound of a great band realising their full potential. Or as DUST BOLT stated earlier:

INITIAL KICK is the high-energy Philadelphia-based rock band helmed by singer / songwriter Steve E. Ojane (Angel) and lead guitarist Frankie Schaffer (Hurricane Jane.) Inspired by the influences of Mott The Hoople, Hanoi Rocks, Alice Cooper, T. Rex, and David Bowie, the boys offer up their own unique blend of songwriting and performance to the genre of arena rock with their debut album Plays With Mercury.
Steve E. Ojane replaced bassist Felix Robinson in the legendary ’70s glam band Angel in 2018 and contributed to their Billboard charting comeback album Risen and latest release Once Upon A Time. Initial Kick’s debut album Plays With Mercury features 12 tracks including a cover of The Archies “Sugar Sugar” and the first single “Tranquilizer” which dropped on September 15th.
As Initial Kick co-founders Steve E. Ojane and Frankie Schaffer state, “This album is our love letter to rock and roll. With a driving passion for the theatrical anthem rock we all grew up on, we had a blast putting this together. We think it’s pretty special and we’re stoked to share it with you.
