Finnish QWÄLEN Launch New Single ‘Kaksi Hautaa’ from Sophomore Album

Following the success of their debut album “Unohdan sinut” (2021), Finnish black metal punks QWÄLEN will be releasing their second album, “Syvä Hiljaisuus”, on March 10th 2023 via Time To Kill Records.

After dropping the first single “Maailma Täyttyy Kuolleista”, the band is now premiering a second single entitled “Kaksi Hautaa”. Watch the video at THIS LOCATION.

This is absolution. We are all sinners, but few say it out loud. I declare my sins and bury them beside me. They are a part of me.”.

Album tracklist:

01. Sairaus (Intro)
02. Kutsu Minua Saatanaksi
03. Kuolleiden Kukkien Keolla
04. Syvä Hiljaisuus
05. Tähdet Tippuvat
06. Lopulta Kaikesta Joutuu Luopumaan
07. Kaksi Hautaa

QWÄLEN became what it is in 2017. The band members share a passion for playing music in its various raw manifestations and their band backgrounds include Kürøishi, Nistikko, Dumathoin and Akma among many others. Punk background bleeds into the music connecting QWÄLEN’s interpretation of black metal into how the genre started decades ago. Simplicity, rawness, speed and honesty. These values were present in the beginning and the same values still hold true. Punk background especially shows live as the chaotic energy of hardcore punk clashes with the ritualistic nature of black metal.

Lyrical themes in the first album focused on self-portrayal, dealing with loss, building anew along with finding alternatives in abandonment, misanthropy and Satan. The second album ponders the sheep-like nature of humanity, the inevitability of destruction, the acceptance of being faulted and surrendering to a greater force.

The second album was recorded at Waiting Room recording studio in Tampere with Mikael Neves who has worked with the likes of Death Toll 80k and Tryer. Mikael also handled mixing duties. Mastering was done by Will Killingsworth at Dead Air Studios. The new album reflects QWÄLEN’s vision and world more clearly than ever. Like a dirty knife. Painful and infectious.

Death metal band DEATH REICH will release their 1st full length, “Disharmony”, on March 17th 2023 via Non Serviam Records.

Its primitive intro evolves into a progressive verse that mutates into an aggressive chorus making it a fair representation of the new album.

DEATH REICH Comments:

Even though humans are considered by many to be the most intelligent species  on earth, we have proven over and over again that we can not coexist with anyone or anything without there being carnage, famine, eradication, suffering and so forth. As long as this continues there will always be disharmony.

“Disharmony” will be available on CD, Vinyl and digital HERE:

Death Reich was formed in 2018 by Jonas Blom (Sacramentum, Runemagick, ex Trident, ex Grief of Emerald, ex One Man Army and the Undead Quartet, ….) who at first played the guitar together with Marcus Fors (Voodus, ex Vornth) on drums and Robert Axelsson(Sacramentum, Grief of Emerald, ex One Man Army and the Undead Quartet) on bass.

They later recruited Christer Bergqvist (Grief of Emerald, ex Sadistic Grimness, ex Auberon) on guitar and Johnny Lehto(Grief of Emerald, ex Decameron) on vocals.

Death Reich recorded a demo in 2018 with this setting that due to its unfulfilling result never saw the light of day. Marcus decided to quit the band shortly after this recording. The band had trouble finding a replacement, so Jonas took it upon himself to play the drums. The band initially played American old school Scott Burns era death metal but changed direction to faster, straight forward and more brutal Death metal and started writing and rehearsing new songs. A new guitar player was also needed and Robert Babic (ex-Brutal Division, Vulcanic) was recruited. Two new songs were recorded 2019 “We are you” and “Domination”. These songs can be found on YouTube but where never properly promoted.

The first official release from Death Reich was a three song EP called Death Camp. The EP includes the title track, a song called “Hunger” and a cover of Metallica’s classic song “Fight fire with fire”.

The band released in 2022 “The Final Plague” EP contains four original songs that differs from each other but still remains within the realm that is Death Reich and also includes a tribute to the mighty Entombed.

DEATH REICH are:
Jonas Blom – Drums
Johnny Lehto – Vocals
Christer Bergqvist – Guitars
Robert Babic – Guitars
Robert Axelsson- Bass

REVOLUTION SAINTS Release Single + Video ‘Talking Like Strangers’, New Studio Album Out on April 21st

REVOLUTION SAINTS, the band centered around vocalist/drummer Deen Castronovo, have returned with a new line-up and a new album, “Eagle Flight”, scheduled for release on April 21, 2023. Castronovo is joined by new companions, guitarist Joel Hoekstra and bassist Jeff Pilson for Revolution Saints, MK II. A new single and music video, ‘Talking Like Strangers’ is out now.

Pre-order/save “Eagle Flight” on CD/LP/Digital HERE: https://orcd.co/revsaints2023
(Please note, due to ongoing long wait times at pressing plants, the LP release date will be August 4, 2023).

Revolution Saints was initially put together by Serafino Perugino, President and Head of A&R for Frontiers Records, to showcase the stunning voice of Deen Castronovo (Journey, Bad English, Hardline). Castronovo has always been a well respected drummer, but fans who took note of his background vocals over his career and who attended Journey shows and saw him take lead vocals on ‘Mother, Father’ during the band’s set, came to realize he also had an amazing voice. Revolution Saints was, and always has been, a vehicle to show the world Deen’s incredible singing talents.

For the first three Revolution Saints albums, “Revolution Saints”, “Light In The Dark”, and “Rise”, Deen was joined by bassist/vocalist Jack Blades (Night Ranger) and guitarist Doug Aldrich (ex-Whitesnake, DIO). Produced by Alessandro Del Vecchio, those three albums brought back the classic melodic rock style that thrilled and delighted legions of fans in the ‘80s and ‘90s and still does today! Inspiring, uplifting vocals, soaring melodies, and hooks for days is what you get in spades across those three albums.

While Revolution Saints, MK I left an indelible mark on the melodic rock world, it was time for MK II to be born. Deen, having recently rejoined Journey, was feeling invigorated and inspired and ready to sing his ass off. Filling Blades and Aldrich’s shoes would be no easy feat, but, mercifully, the exact right guys were found for the job! Joel Hoekstra is a current member of Whitesnake, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and Iconic, as well as having his own solo project, Joel Hoekstra’s 13 and is an absolutely stunning guitar player, able to play multiple styles. Jeff Pilson, currently a member of Foreigner, Black Swan, and The End Machine, is also known for his time in Dokken and of course, his more recent production work. Two stellar musicians to compliment Deen’s singing and drumming is exactly what was needed for Revolution Saints, MK II and that’s what we’ve got here. As with the first three albums, Alessandro Del Vecchio handles production as well as contributing keyboards and background vocals.

Fans of Revolution Saints first three releases are going to find much to be delighted with here with the new, rejuvenated Rev Saints and their brand new album, “Eagle Flight”!

Musician/Model NATALIE NOOTENBOOM Reimagines GUNS N’ ROSES Classic ‘Rocket Queen’

Musician/Model NATALIE NOOTENBOOM has reimagined GUNS N’ ROSES classic “Rocket Queen”.

“I was inspired to cover ‘Rocket Queen’ because of its bold, sexy, wild, and shocking origins. It’s a song so fiery and playful it makes you want to dance in your underwear with the window curtains open. I wanted my take on the song to focus on celebrating queerhood and female empowerment.” – Natalie Nootenboom

Watch “Rocket Queen” at Revolver here.

Natalie Nootenboom shares, “There were times when I almost didn’t release “Rocket Queen” because I thought ‘this isn’t me, this is a persona,’ then I realized there’s nothing wrong with having a persona because my personas are a part of me. Music is one of the ways we can try on different energies and perspectives in a fun, non-serious manner. I realized with this project that’s what I’ve been doing.

I originally recorded a dirty version of this song with my friends – we parked in an area in my neighborhood and jokingly started moaning into my phone. Listening back to it, I couldn’t take it seriously. It was satire. The moans in the studio thing worked for Guns N Roses cause they were recording a moment that authentically represented their lifestyle- it was real as it could be. But it wasn’t reflective of mine. It reminded me of when I was recording the vocals and I originally tried emulating Axl’s voice. Then I realized one, this was my cover and it had to come from my perspective, and two, there’s no copying Axl Rose. I think making covers teaches you how to be more original.

I wanted to cover ‘Rocket Queen’ because it’s a song that completely sets you on fire. It’s an invigorating track that screams ‘here I am’ – a declaration of one’s confidence. I wanted to give it a modern take – female-driven and a celebration of queer sexuality. You don’t see that a lot of that kind of representation in hard rock music. ”

About Natalie Nootenboom:

Emerging rockstar Natalie Nootenboom is shattering stereotypes. Fueled by electric guitar riffs, powerhouse vocals, and a whole lotta soul, Natalie’s sound is fierce, punchy, defiant of genres boxes, and unapologetically her own.

Blazing a trail that’s part-hard rock, part-pop, and a touch metal, the multi-hyphenate creative isn’t afraid to live a life that sets her apart. Queer, mixed Japanese-Dutch, and one of the first plus-sized Asian models ever to break into high fashion, Natalie’s all about authentic self-expression, embracing diversity, true representation, and owning the sh*t out of being different.

ROTTEN SOUND have firmly established themselves as one of the leading acts of the grindcore scene. Expertly wielding the fierce brutality and massive aggression of their genre, the Finns add intelligent songwriting, effective arrangements, and musical proficiency as well as subtle death metal elements to their sound.

Their forthcoming album ‘Apocalypse’ embodies those aforementioned virtues to the point. The full length delivers eighteen short sharp chops that hit home perfectly.

ROTTEN SOUND was conceived in the city of Vaasa, Finland by guitarist Mika Aalto in 1993, who was soon joined by vocalist and word-smith Keijo Niinimaa. The duo still remains in place, while the original members in all other positions have been replaced several times until today.

The Finns can field an impressive catalogue of now eight highly acclaimed studio albums, eight EPs, three split singles, a single, and a live DVD. Furthermore, ROTTEN SOUND have already conquered the stages of all major metal and hardcore oriented festivals and also toured in regular intervals alongside such renowned acts as MALEVOLENT CREATION, PHOBIA, DISFEAR CARCASS, MUNICIPAL WASTE, EXHUMED, NAPALM DEATH, and PIG DESTROYER – among many others.

With ‘Apocalypse’, ROTTEN SOUND are gearing up their musical juggernaut just in time before crushing stages all over Asia and Europe this spring.
