World-renowned Brazilian death metal force CRYPTA has announced Victoria Villarreal as their permanent guitarist, completing the lineup alongside Fernanda Lira (bass, vocals), Luana Dametto (drums), and Tainá Bergamaschi (guitar) as a four-piece.

Based in Los Angeles, Victoria Villarreal has been active in the original music scene for many years as both a guitarist and vocalist, primarily leading her progressive death metal band Syrebris, as well as taking part in the collaborative project Chaos Rising Project. Her personal musical signature is strongly rooted in old-school and technical death metal, something she had already proven in connection with CRYPTA while performing as one of the band’s guest guitarists on previous tours.

Villarreal will not only be present at the upcoming dates in Brazil and on future tours, but is also already actively contributing to the composition of new music for CRYPTA.

Fernanda Lira states:
“We are very happy to welcome Vicky to CRYPTA. Our chemistry is excellent both on and off stage, and her contribution to the band so far has been incredible. We are sure this will be a very amazing chapter for all of us!”

Electric Callboy announces their long-anticipated new album TANZNEID, set for release on August 7, 2026 via Century Media Records. At the same time, the band joins forces with global gaming hit game Brawl Stars for their explosive new single and video “Hypercharged”, which also introduces the new character “Damian” to the Brawl Stars universe.

Alongside the announcement, Electric Callboy kick off the TANZNEID pre-order with a range of exclusive collector’s editions. The release will culminate in a major celebration at Escalation Fest 2026, where the band will perform the new album for the very first time, turning the festival into a one-of-a-kind live premiere incl. an Electric Bassboy DJ Set with new remixes, a Loveboat, multiple guests besides Evil Jared and Krogi, an actual TEKKNO TRAIN and the performance at the Wuhlheide in Berlin.

STREAM “Hypercharged” HERE

Electric Callboy on their new single and Brawl Stars collab: “We’ve always been massive gaming fans, so teaming up with Brawl Stars felt like a perfect match from the start. The track came together naturally, and we loved seeing it take shape as Damian’s theme. Damian fits our sound like he was built for it. Heavy, explosive, and impossible to ignore. It’s pressure, groove, and madness all at once. We love it!“

Electric Callboy comment on the upcoming album: “After our album TEKKNO and all the worldwide touring, TANZNEID took everything out of us. It was intense, exhausting, but also exactly what we needed after all the incredible moments we shared during that era.

With TANZNEID, we wanted to create something special, for our fans and for ourselves. Every track surges with energy. We took what we loved about TEKKNO and pushed it further, adding new elements, new sounds, and new extremes. Heavy beats, explosive drops, and moments that hit you right in the chest. The last singles RATATATA and Hypercharged were just the beginning. Now it’s raw, loud, and alive, in every pulse, every scream, every melody.

We wanted to match our music with your adrenaline, to create a record that pulls you onto the floor, makes your heart race, and doesn’t let go.

TANZNEID is built for the stage. So turn it up, lose yourself, and dance like no one’s watching.“

Electric Callboy are nearly impossible to categorize, and that’s exactly the point. Since forming in Germany in 2010, they’ve grown into a global force, driven by genre-defying hits like “Hypa Hypa,” “We Got The Moves,” and “RATATATA” (with BABYMETAL). Their 2022 album TEKKNO amassed hundreds of millions of streams worldwide, cementing their place at the forefront of modern heavy music.

With TANZNEID, the band push their sound even further, sharpening their signature mix of pop hooks, techno energy, and heavy breakdowns. Written in between relentless touring, across backstage areas, buses, and brief studio sessions, the album carries a raw sense of urgency, capturing the band at their most instinct-driven and immediate.

Built on contrast, Electric Callboy’s strength lies in blending extremes into something that feels seamless. On TANZNEID, that balance reaches a new level of precision, pairing high-impact energy with a more refined approach to songwriting and dynamics.

TANZNEID finds Electric Callboy at their most focused and fearless, driven by momentum, creative freedom, and a clear refusal to stand still.

FROZEN SOUL Release New Video Single ‘Deathweaver’

Frozen Soul dropped “DEATHWEAVER” just ahead of their U.S. tour which kicked off on April 16th. The single is 4 minutes of pummeling death metal that leans into their unchecked aggression of hardcore punk. It’s the final preview ahead of their new studio album No Place of Warmth – their most definitive and defiant record to date. At the center of it all is vocalist Chad Green, whose bellow sits somewhere between a spiritual guide, dungeon master and soothsayer, delivering tales of unending battles and vanquishing foes.

“‘DEATHWEAVER’ is about how slowly, in time, you lose pieces of yourself and gain new perspectives. Weaving your memories of life’s experiences to form who you are inside, and the cruel nature of life—the cycle of death—and how hard it is to stay who you are,” Green tells.

For the video, Frozen Soul turned to anime influences like Ninja Scroll and Noise Marines from Warhammer, in addition to Hellraiser 80s-style horror. Using that scope, Green crafted a story of a character that uses the veins, nerves and bones of their victims as a musical instrument, specifically a harp.

Green adds, “In the end, the video is about a woman that is centuries old, and in her eyes she is forever chasing her dream of creating the perfect harp. In reality, she is using the flesh, bones, veins, and nerves of her victims (us performing) to make this bone harp—the end reveal is nuts!”. I also had a ton of fun working with my childhood friend Eric from Mile High Animation on the design of the harp, he 3D printed it in pieces then I put it together, painted and gored it up with the help of Sam!”

In just five years, Frozen Soul’s brand of all inclusive, in-your-face death metal has captured the attention of countless fans of extreme music globally. No Place of Warmth, due May 8 via Century Media, is a monolithic, majestic and exigent collection of anthems built on the perfect blend of ferocity and subtle melody, allowing soaring guitar leads to guide a lantern through the dark chasm of merciless riffs. Across their third full-length studio album, Frozen Soul tells tales of the dark territories that come with dealing with the everyday struggle. It surveys the wasteland in the wake of their triumph and is an open letter to fans that decries life’s cold realities yet gives them the tools and the motivation to conquer on their own.

No Place of Warmth sees Frozen Soul distilled to its primordial essence– a brigade of road-wisened soldiers who’ve been to the frontlines enough and know exactly how to attack in their next barbaric sortie. The result is a more menacing version of the band hellbent on shock and awe and maximal minimalism– across eleven new songs, Frozen Soul keep it brief and focused, emphasizing brutality but with an ear for hooks. The album is a pinnacle for the band, and a shining example of flawless execution, inline with classics like Tomb of the Mutilated, Cause of Death, Heartwork, and Hacked Up for BBQ. “Our mindset was to stop overthinking it and trying to write the most epic song,” recalls Green.

While the title No Place of Warmth may hint towards subject matter on a glacial terra incognita, ever-expanding and devoid of signs of life, the record is also very much the opposite. “Each song on this record has its own meaning and influences that helped make them what they are, but in their essence are written to give the listener that extra push and power they need to fight those everyday battles. These songs are built to say ‘We won’t be swept away by its winds; we can and we will move forward,’” says vocalist Green emphatically.

This time around they’ve brought a gang to join them. For their latest effort, the band grabbed a trio of incredible collaborators for inclusion– Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance, Devin Swank from Sanguisugabogg and Rob Flynn from Machine Head. Though each adds their distinctive swagger to the LP, none can overshadow the mechanized killing machine behind Frozen Soul. “Anytime we have features, it’s with friends and bands that we love and respect who share the same feelings and emotion that we’re trying to get across in the song,” says Green. “Gerard, Rob and Devin all added their own unique styles and love into the songs and really helped bring them to life. It was an absolute pleasure working with them.”

Frozen Soul’s fresh and live theatrical take on old school death metal has earned them sold out tours and support slots with an array of heavy staples like Dying Fetus, Blood Incantation, Obituary, Amon Amarth, Killswitch Engage and Napalm Death just to name a few. Their breakout EP ‘Encased in Ice’ (2019) and two full-lengths ‘Crypt of Ice’ (2021), ‘Glacial Domination’ (2023), a festival of their own in Wrecking Ball Metal Madness, and now No Place of Warmth, cement Frozen Soul as a leading force of metal’s next generation. Tonight they embark on a tour across the U.S. with Sweden’s Avatar and Fleshgod Apocalypse. For tickets go here. See below for a full list of dates.

No Place of Warmth was produced by Josh Schroeder and sees its release May 8 via Century Media. Frozen Soul have teamed up with the label, Wizard of Barge, and Metal Injection for a fan giveaway in which a lucky winner will win a Magic The Gathering prize pack including a one-of-a-kind playmat from Wizard of Barge, and a 1995 Ice Age Booster box (worth $2,000!). To enter the contest, go HERE.

MORTIIS Drops New Music Video for ‘Violent Silence’ from Forthcoming Album

MORTIIS premieres the story-telling and visually impressive music video ‘Violent Silence‘, which continues the narrative arc of the previous clip ‘Ghosts of Europa’, as the next advance single taken from the iconic Norwegian artist’s upcoming new full-length “Ghosts of Europa“.

“Ghosts of Europa” has been scheduled for release on June 26, 2026 via Prophecy Productions.

MORTIIS comments: “Lyrically, ‘Violent Silence’ came into being as an apology to my wife”, the Norwegian admits ruefully. “I had done something stupid again, and she was really upset. I was trying to apologise in a text message – a really long one. The lyrics for ‘Violent Silence’ took a lot of inspiration from those words and that moment. As time goes by and having lived with this song for quite a while now, it gets harder for me to listen to those words. The gut-wrenching sensation of guilt never goes away fully. Musically, it was a very inspiring song to work on – especially with all those crazy fuzz and echo guitars that built up this song towards the end.”

With “Ghosts of Europa”, the enigmatic Norwegian artistic entity known as MORTIIS presents an album that he views as a creative liberation. During its long and winding creation process such concepts as genre, rules or experimenting with sounds dissolved while simply making music that reflected every conceivable idea on his mind without accepting any limitations became his guiding principle.

Of course, MORTIIS‘ musical handwriting is ever present. Echoes from the often quite divergent phases of his previous works can be found across “Ghosts of Europa”. Yet the creator of musical worlds left hardly a stone not turned in his epic quest for genuinely new ways of expression. As a result, this cinematic and visionary album often feels expansive, strange, and darkly dystopian. In this, “Ghosts of Europa” reflects its maker’s struggles while creating the album – as for him, these tend to come into existence at the cost of friendships and relationships as well as much soul searching.

“Ghosts of Europa” has also been shaped to some extent by the original idea that involved a collaboration of MORTIIS with Stephan Groth from APOPTYGMA BERZERK based on their mutual fascination with the highly influential old German school of electronic music, and particularly TANGERINE DREAM and Klaus Schulze. When this fell apart, MORTIIS decided to continue on his own, and a long process of transforming the early recorded materials began.

Relics of this early stage remain in hints of the influences from Berlin as well as a host of guest contributions, but visions of bleak, desolate, and timeless alien landscapes warped and mutated the songs. This carried “Ghosts of Europa” also into spaces where MORTIIS never existed before.

In order to reflect both, the album’s general orientation towards electronic and industrial rock as well as the particularly wide range of stylistic influences reaching beyond its core, the choice of sound engineer fell on a most renowned specialist for precisely such sonic experiences: Luckily, Sean Beavan agreed to mix “Ghosts of Europa”. His credits include working with NINE INCH NAILS, DEPECHE MODE, SYSTEM OF A DOWN, GUNS N’ ROSES, and SLAYER among many other greats.

In the beginning of the artistic entity MORTIIS there was black metal. The artist Håvard Ellefsen known as the musical entity MORTIIS started out as a bass player in and during the formation of legendary Norwegian band EMPEROR in 1991 and 1992. After parting ways with these black metal pioneers, MORTIIS embarked on a solo career, the so called ‘Era I’. From 1993 until 1999, the Norwegian released six full-length albums that were entirely composed on synthesizers and are considered to constitute a fundamental influence on the later Dungeon Synth genre.

In the next decades, MORTIIS evolved and redefined his sound through several eras that embraced experimental & heavy industrial rock, a new wave of gothic & electronic influences, experimental studio works, and back to his roots.

During most of his career MORTIIS has performed with a mask and face prosthetic that turned his stage persona into an otherworldly being. Over the year, his looks have changed and evolved. For a time during ‘Era 0′, his live concept even abandoned the wearing of the iconic mask. MORTIIS’ stage entity has often been compared with a troll – a creature of Nordic folklore, which it was never intended to be according to the artist.

“Ghosts of Europa” is the sonic testimony of an experienced and matured musician, who created what he loves most and does best: electronic rock with stylistic influences from many genres while not being bound by any that creates dark soundscapes, cinematic sonic visions, and a plethora of emotions. Just when you think that you have finally figured “Ghosts of Europa” out, MORTIIS will surprise you with another facet and fresh aspect of his richly detailed masterpiece.

Mexican death metal force NECROCCULTUS have made their upcoming full-length album “The Afterdeath Blackness” available for exclusive streaming in advance via Death Metal Promotion, offering listeners a complete immersion into their latest work ahead of its official release.

Set to be unleashed on April 24th, 2026 through Terror From Hell Records, the album stands as a powerful reaffirmation of the band’s unwavering dedication to pure and uncompromising death metal. Across its eight tracks, “The Afterdeath Blackness” delivers a carefully balanced blend of crushing riffs, intricate songwriting, and a dense, ritualistic atmosphere that reflects decades of underground commitment.

Stream the album at THIS LOCATION.

Proud standard-bearers of the purest and most solemn death metal tradition, NECROCCULTUS return with a record that both honors and revitalizes the genre’s roots. Forged through years of underground militancy and unwavering dedication to the death metal cause, the band channels its accumulated experience into an album that feels timeless yet fiercely alive. “The Afterdeath Blackness” stands as a statement of intent: death metal in its most essential, uncompromising form.

Across eight tracks, the album showcases everything that has defined NECROCCULTUS since their inception: massive riffs, carefully crafted songwriting and a dark atmosphere rooted in ritualistic heaviness. The compositions are elaborate without ever becoming self-indulgent, balancing complexity with raw impact and maintaining a natural flow that keeps the listener immersed from beginning to end. A constant sense of menace runs through the record, while a subtle veil of epic grandeur elevates the material beyond mere brutality.

Rather than chasing trends or modern gimmicks, NECROCCULTUS embrace the spirit of classic death metal, filtering it through decades of underground commitment and artistic growth. The result is an album that sounds both reverent and commanding, a work that speaks directly to devoted followers of the old ways while reaffirming the band’s place among today’s torchbearers of authentic death metal.

NECROCCULTUS was formed in 2003 as a five-piece band consisting of César (guitar), Omar (bass), Chago (guitar), Daniel (drums), and Isaías (growls). During the following three years, this original line-up recorded several releases, including the brutal full-length “Encircling The Mysterious Necrorevelation” (2005) for Sempiternal Productions (US), a 7” EP for Blood Harvest Records (Sweden), a three-way split CD with Sanctifier and Throneum on Warfuck Records (Colombia), and a split LP with Shub-Niggurath released by Iron Bonehead Productions (Germany).

Between 2006 and 2009, the band went through a series of line-up changes while continuing to perform live. Among their most notable appearances was “Glorifying the Great Beast” in 2009, where they shared the stage in Berlin, Germany, with bands such as Necros Christos, Kaamos, Graveyard, and others.

In 2012, NECROCCULTUS recorded another 12” EP, “Solemnelohim, Bringer Of Death”, once again released via Blood Harvest Records. Further line-up changes followed, and in 2020 the band unleashed the demo “Unburied Hellish Presences”, released by the Italian label Unholy Domain Records. Shortly after, due to the global pandemic, the band disbanded.

In 2024, founding member Isaías H. reactivated NECROCCULTUS alongside a new line-up: Roel (guitar), Néstor (bass), Alex (guitar), Dante (drums), and Isaías (growls). After performing several live shows, the band entered the studio between July and October 2025 to record their new abominable full-length, “The Afterdeath Blackness”, featuring eight tracks of bestial, unholy death metal.

Line-up:

Roel – Guitar
Alex – Guitar
