TRAGEDY – one of New York City’s most famous tribute bands and the undisputed inventors of “disco metal” – recently announced their new, upcoming full-length album, I Am Woman, out March 3, 2023 via Napalm Records. Flipping the script on sleaze rock tropes, I Am Woman pays tribute to the most powerful force in the band’s lives, celebrating womanhood in all forms on 14 newly-reinvented disco and soft rock anthems!

Today, following their latest cover of legendary track “Venus”, the band showcases their heavy metal take on The Pointer Sisters‘ classic anthem, “I’m So Excited”. Follow the band in the Cara Maria O’Shea-directed music video to their Halftime Show performance at the Big Bank SuperDuper Dome – you won’t be able to contain yourself as you rock out to a metallized version of this iconic track with half-timed grooves, squealing solos and energetic vocals.

“Anita Pointer sadly passed away very recently, and this is our tribute to her and her sisters’ impact on music, as well as, of course, their everlasting and unbridled enthusiasm for ‘pleasures in the night’ on this track.

The song is about the building, burning anticipation of impending carnal satisfaction. The heart races, hormones surge – gratification is imminent! In the video, the “excited” band members pack themselves into the family minivan, then play the Halftime Show at the Big Bank SuperDuper Dome – an event viewed live by over 700 Billion people worldwide!”

Since the release of their impressive 2005 debut, De strijdlust is geboren, HEIDEVOLK have taken the heavy music scene by storm, conquering stages throughout the world with their very own brand of pagan folk metal. Following their latest offering, the much-acclaimed, VUUR VAN VERZET (2015), February 24, 2023 will see the Dutch band release their seventh studio masterpiece, WEDERKEER, through Napalm Records.

THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER will return to the stage this Spring on the Verminous Remnant Tour. The band’s first trek following the tragic death of frontman Trevor Strnad will mark the close of the Verminous touring cycle and introduce a reformed lineup consisting of remaining and returning members of the band.

The journey will commence on April 14th with an appearance at the Decibel Metal & Beer Fest in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and run through May 26th in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Support will be provided by Terror, Frozen Soul, Fuming Mouth, and Phobophilic. Tickets go on sale this Friday, January 20th at 10:00am local time. See all confirmed dates below.

Italian melodic death metallers EMBRYO are sharing the first glimpse of brutality from their forthcoming fifth album “A Vivid Shade on Misery“, which features the band’s recruitment of international drumming powerhouse George Kollias (Nile) for its recording.

Due out on March 17th, 2023 via Rockshots Records, Embryo shares its first single “Darkest Lights” accompanied by a music video. The track is melodic, but with an unforgettable groove.

“A Vivid Shade on Misery” follows the band’s 2017’s “A Step Beyond Divinity” (Art Gates Records), 2015’s Self-Titled (logic(il)logic Records) that featured Fleshgod Apocalypse’s drummer Francesco Paoli, 2010’s “No God Slave” and their 2006 debut “Chaotic Age“.

Since the band’s inception, Embryo has toured across Europe with Melechesh, Keep of Kalessin, Tribulation, Nile, Immolation, Ragnarok, Monuments of Misanthropy, and Suffocation along with performing on festivals such as Masters of Rock (CZ), and Total Metal Festival (Italy).

Embryo began writing their 5th offering in 2020 with George Kollias and entered the Domination Studio in July 2021 with producer Simone Mularoni, and engineer Simone Bertozzi.

Monolithic, intense, powerful, technical, and melodic this new album features eight brand new tracks and is another concept album like its predecessor “A Step Beyond Divinity”. The band is inspired by historical Italian figures of the Renaissance era and their tormented lives, their absolute genius, and the gifts they gave to the world. While the previous album “A Step Beyond Divinity” was inspired by Leonardo Da Vinci, this new work is totally inspired by Michelangelo Merisi alias Caravaggio, an Italian painter active in Rome for most of his artistic life.

“With “A Vivid Shade on Misery” we want to have listeners dive into our world by giving them brutal and atmospheric music melted together in the way we love to do plus having Kollias drum on this new album, one of the best drummers in the world, is just an absolute honour. Overall, fans will find this album has the “Embryo” matrix, there’s no doubt about that. It will be a more direct record and its songs make up a pattern that takes the listener on a journey through torments and anxieties, but which at the same time gives him pure energy.” adds the band.

From the band’s first album “Chaotic Age” (2006) to today, Embryo‘s music has evolved over the years. On the first record, they were more brutal and messier, now their compositions are much more “thought out” and brilliant. If they had to use one word to describe their compositional evolution they would say “sharp”.

Progressive doom rock new-comers THE ABBEY, ft. Natalie Koskinen (SHAPE OF DESPAIR), Jesse Heikkinen (HENGET, ITERUM NATA, etc), Vesa Ranta (SENTENCED, THE MAN-EATING TREE), and Janne Markus (THE MAN-EATING TREE), are now revealing another haunting song, “Starless,” along with a music video! The song is the latest single from the band’s forthcoming debut full-length, ‘Word of Sin,’ in which Koskinen’s bone-chilling powerhouse vocals are front and center! Get ready for an apocalyptic journey! March 3, 2023 will see Swedish melodic power/heavy metal act KARDINAL SIN release their forthcoming studio album, entitled “S.A.L.I.G.I.A”, via Massacre Records.
