Australia’s NOTHING SACRED Unleash Single ‘Drone’ from Forthcoming EP

Set to unleash their new EP “Leviathan” this coming February via Rockshots Records to follow their first album in 30 years entitled “No Gods” released in 2021, Australia’s NOTHING SACRED are sharing their second single “Drone“.

“The lyrics were written around the current situation in Ukraine and the atrocities of modern warfare. It’s sad that nowadays we still find excuses where it’s alright to take other people’s lives and land. I’m not sure how this is ok and it’s heartbreaking that it can still happen today. Again this is by no means an attack on the good people of Russia. What’s happening is no more their fault than it is ours.” comments drummer Sham.

Listen to “Drone” at https://bfan.link/drone-2

ans of Nothing Sacred will notice on the band’s forthcoming EP “Leviathan” that there has been a lineup change that now sees the return of Chris Stark taking the reins as lead vocalist, replacing James Davies. Stark had previously sung with the band for a number of years and has now returned in time to lay down the vocal tracks for their next monster.

The EP “Leviathan” is a mix of new and older tracks that builds on what the band did with the album “No Gods”. It has plenty of riffs, killer solos, and big melodies from vocalist Chris Stark. The EP also includes the song “Sudden Death”, a thrashy unreleased track that was a mainstay during the band’s live gigs in the mid-’80s plus re-recordings of a few tracks from the band’s first album “Let Us Prey” and two new songs. All the new songs were written in group sessions with everyone jamming, throwing around riffs and arrangements into the mix. Overall, the EP is a blend of old and new, and something they could get done without a follow-up taking too long.

About: Conceived in Melbourne in 1983, Nothing Sacred went on hiatus for two decades. During the 80s, the heavy metal band unleashed their EP “Deathwish”, which catapulted them as one of the most sought-after pit makers with the record’s title track becoming a classic within the Australian metal scene. Three years later in 1988, Nothing Sacred unleashed the full-length entitled “Let Us Prey” on Cleopatra Records. Unfortunately a year after that LP’s release, the band disbanded in 1989. Lead guitarist Mark Woolley, bassist Karl Lean, and drummer Sham went on to contribute to Hobbs’ Angel of Death‘s early work in the late 1980s. Woolley also appeared on Hobbs’ first self-titled album in 1988. Vocalist Mick Burnham later joined the short-lived Melbourne band Seizure in 1993.

Although their tenure was short-lived, Nothing Sacred still remains an underground metal phenomenon in Australia. Songs from the Deathwish EP still get airplay on several Australian metal radio programs.

In 2012, Nothing Sacred performed a series of 30th anniversary shows with Ross Percy (Ion Drive, Little House Godz) joining George Larin on guitar that included a support slot for the ex-Iron Maiden vocalist’s Paul Di’AnnoP/Blaze Bayley Australian tour. Despite the success, the band agreed not to continue and returned to retirement.

In 2015, the band decided to re-activate with a lineup of Sham, Karl Lean, George Larin, Ross Percy, and new vocalist Chris Stark. A slot on Melbourne’s Brewtality Metal Festival received positive reviews before the band embarked on a short tour of Japan (That footage was released in 2021 as a part of a 3 disc boxset), which inspired them to continue and lead the band to headline day one of the Steel Assassins Festival in Sydney.

Line-up changes again slowed the band, James Davies was recruited for vocals along with Stu Bedford on guitar. From there, the band spent most of 2019 and 2020 writing and recording, what was their first full-length in over 30 years. Entitled “No Gods”, the record witnessed Nothing Sacred‘s resurrection to the metal world. The album peaked on the Australian iTunes metal charts in October 2021 at #4 along with metal media outlets giving multiple praising reviews.

Now ready to follow up “No Gods”, Nothing Sacred has gone through another lineup change swapping singer James Davies out with the return of Chris Stark. Chris had sung with the band previously for a number of years and has now returned in time to lay the vocal tracks down on their next release “Leviathan” set for release in February 2023 via Rockshots Records.

OCEANHOARSE Release Video for New Track ‘Brick’

Finnish heavy metallers OCEANHOARSE are gearing up for the release of the band’s sophomore full-length record, entitled “Heads Will Roll”, which will be coming out on February 17th via Noble Demon. In support of the new album, the band has released a video for the new single “Brick”.

“‘Brick’ is what it sounds like to lose your sanity. This is the musical equivalent to a high-speed chase, or a 2-minute 45-second long nightmare. The main riff actually started as this crazy c-part of another song, but then we thought, “why not just build a whole song around this fucked up riff?!” I can definitely hear the influence of late 80’s Megadeth here. Helmets on boys and girls!”  Ben Varon comments.

With former and current members of well-known acts like Amoral, Warmen and others, Oceanhoarse have become known as a band that’s willing to explore things in their very own style, instead of sticking to any kind of average formular. Having released their debut studio album “Dead Reckoning” in 2021 (Noble Demon), followed by multiple single releases and extensive touring, the Helsinki based four-piece might be one of the most remarkable and hard working newcomers out there right now. So get prepared for “Heads Will Roll”, an album not to be missed in the year of 2023!

BLOODBOUND Announce New Album “Tales From The North” + Live Dates Over Europe

When it comes to defending the core values of timeless power metal and combining them with fresh stylistic variations and exciting stories, Swedish power metallers Bloodbound have always been fighting at the forefront. With nine studio albums in 16 years under their belt, the six-piece has proven their versatility and inventiveness countless times. Following the much acclaimed, latest record Creatures Of The Dark Realm (2021, AFM Records), Bloodbound have announced the release of their upcoming masterpiece, entitled Tales From The North!

“’Tales From The North’ is very much a concept album about the viking era. About the lives of our ancestors up here in the dark, cold and unfriendly environments of the north,” explains lead guitarist Tomas Olsson and summarizes the content of their eleven songs: “Different legends and myths intertwine during the course of the songs, leading up to the epic battle of 1066, which marks the end of the viking era.” Those who already know the sound of Bloodbound can imagine the metallic force the band employs to evoke this story. Tales From The North will be released on July 7, 2023 via AFM/Soulfood as a 2-CD digipak including a live CD. As a special treat, it will also be released as a strictly limited box set as well as coloured vinyl LPs.

Give ear, as today, the band shared a lyric video for their first album single “Odin’s Prayer”!
“Odin’s Prayer is a real banger of a song,“ Fredrik Bergh comments. “It represents the new album well and I think it’s a great first taste of the new record. On Tales From The North we have gone back to the roots of bloodbound a bit and I think the bloodheads will like what they hear!“

Bloodbound have not only improved in terms of content, but also musically. Says Olsson: “The songs are more fast-paced and closer to some of our earlier stuff like ’Moria’ and ’Nosferatu’, but have more complex arrangements. Compared to the predecessor ‚Creatures Of The Dark Realm‘ there are heavier guitars and some deeper sounding keyboards. We have also incorporated some traditional nordic folk music instruments to fit the concept of the album. It`s still pure power metal but we’re trying to take it to the next level.”

Tales From The North was produced by Bloodbound, and was mixed and mastered by Jonas Kjellgren (Amorphis, Overkill, Sabaton) at the Swedish ‘Black Lounge Studios’. The cover artwork was done by Péter Sallai (Hammerfall, Powerwolf & many more).

German metal project VISION OF CHOICE have released “Hero’s Home”, the second single from their upcoming album “Second Sight”, coming out on February 17th 2023 through Fencesound Music / ZOUNDR.

The official visualizer video can be watched here:

The first single and videoclip taken from ‘Second Sight’ was released on December 19th.

“Second Sight” is the second album of German metal project Vision of Choice that started back in 2018 when multi-instrumentalist/composer Steve Brockmann (AIRS – A Rock Opera, Krilloan) and vocalist Lukas Remus (Epilirium, Rigorious) decided to join forces – inspired by such genre classics as Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Pretty Maids, Omen and Malice (to name a few).

The debut “Mistress of the Gods” was released in early 2020, received consistently good to very good reviews and sold copies to metal fans from 24 countries.
Guitarist Ponch Satrio from Jakarta/Indonesia, who played on 5 songs of “Mistress”, was welcomed as a full member of Vision of Choice in July 2020.

Vision of Choice play in the universe of traditional, melodic heavy metal with hard rock influences. Lukas Remus’ powerful, bariton voice (often compared to J.D.Kimball and Kal Swan) is the icing on the cake.
Again American writer George Andrade (Airs – a Rock Opera, the Anabasis, Seven Steps To The Green Door) wrote all of the lyrics to Brockmann’s music.

“Second Sight’ – illustrated by Indonesian artist Johny Prayogi – will be released in the following formats:

  • Digipack CD
  • Digital download

Tracklist:

  1. She is Danger
  2. Eyes of Freedom
  3. High Roller
  4. Demonize
  5. Until the Night
  6. Ghost Chance
  7. Fatal Delusion
  8. To Zero
  9. Hero’s Home
  10. Forever the Heroes

Vision of Choice are
Lukas Remus: Lead and background vocals
Steve Brockmann: Guitars, bass, keyboards, lead vocals (10)
Ponch Satrio: Guitars
The drums on the album were played by Fabio Alessandrini (Annihilator, Bonfire), Ivica “Prognini” Strognostović and Glenn Welman.
