South Australian LUMEN AD MORTEM Release Second Single ‘Within The Smoke’

South Australian Black Metal outfit Lumen Ad Mortem will issue their highly anticipated debut full length record “Upon The Edge Of Darkness” on January 27 2023 via Bitter Loss Records. 

Featuring six brand new tracks spanning over 42 minutes, “Upon The Edge Of Darkness” has been packed with soul-devouring and pure black metal, pitch black in its features. Formed in 2019, from the cold ashes comes a trio forged through the smoke and flame of primeval times. A time where grim melodies rose from the forest floor and blasting rhythms carried the embers to engulf and inspire all that is black metal!

After the release of the first track “Thought And Memory“, the band follows up today with the second single “Within The Smoke”. Listen to the track via Bandcamp or right here:

“Within The Smoke’ started with one riff and marched onwards. Simple in structure, droning riffs complimenting dark vocals and precise drums. Lacerating guitars and driving bass are enhanced by orchestral undertones.
The song forced its will onto the band much like the lyrical theme of the three Norns of wyrd , hunched over the loom of destiny. feverishly weaving the threads of predestined fate upon all beings with crooked hands of benevolence or malevolence!” the band states.

In 2020, brothers Sakis and Themmis Tolis were bestowed the immortal honor of having a newly discovered fossil species named after them! Two researchers from the Natural History Museum in Luxembourg,  Dr. Ben Thuy and and Dr. Lea Numberger, recently found a new brittle-star species and decided to name it “Brezinacantha Tolis” in honor of the Tolis brothers. More info on the discovery and its etymology can be found HERE.

ROTTING CHRIST previously revealed a coveted collaboration with the creators of the PS4 game “Mortal Shell,” which featured the band’s epic track “Χ Ξ Σ (666)” in the official trailer! The game was released worldwide in August of 2020. The trailer can be seen at THIS LOCATION.

It’s not ROTTING CHRIST‘s first encounter with the gaming industry. The band was discovered on a poster in the game ‘The Last of Us Part 2’ along with label mates HORRENDOUS!

Almost four long years have passed since the pioneers of German folk rock, SUBWAY TO SALLY, released their last album HEY!. Now they return with their 14th studio album, Himmelfahrt (eng. Ascension), out March 24, 2023 via Napalm Records. The brand new album marks a turning point in the discography of the band: since the beginning of their promising career, the musicians gave the darkest abysses of human soul a spotlight – but now, they surprise fans with the total opposite. For the first time in over 30 years of their band history, the musicians celebrate hope!

With first single “Was ihr wollt” (engl.  What you want), the folk rock trailblazers criticize the principle of reciprocity, but above that, they also give a first taste of their new sonic realms. Including catchy rhythms and rousing electronic beats, a haunting atmosphere is created and sticks with the listener. Furthermore, the album opener is accompanied by a visually stunning official music video.

“The new album marks a turning point. Himmelfahrt represents the ending and a new beginning at the same time. The work on the songs for Himmelfahrt began long before Covid, shortly after the release of the last album Hey!. This album addressed a broken world, the destructive treatment of people with their own kind and the environment in which they live. As the pandemic hit the world, most of the album seemed prophetic and depressing. All the material created up to that point had to be put to the test and was disposed of as outmoded.
 
SUBWAY TO SALLY have always dealt with the dark sides of the human soul with relish. Over the years, a lot of blood has been spilled and murdered for love. But the lust for doom is an attitude that works well when a fully fueled helicopter is waiting on the roof to carry us away from the zombie apocalypse.

For the first time in thirty years of the band’s history, we had to ask ourselves if it was time to celebrate hope. Hope is fuel for the future, and so many songs on the new album are about departure and journey, about reaching out to others to lead them from the deepest depths into the light. However, the most current events in the world put this hope to a difficult test. This explains the downer, the bitterness that clouds hope. That’s why even God had to say a word on the album, to vent his own disappointment in his work.”

Napalm Records is proud to announce the signing of international sleaze quintet COBRA SPELL. Founded in 2019 by up-and-coming guitar phenomenon Sonia Anubis (ex-CRYPTA, ex-BURNING WITCHES), COBRA SPELL are slithering their way into the revival era of the 80’s heavy rock sound. Following their globally praised EP’s Love Venom (2020) and Anthems Of The Night (2022), this past October, COBRA SPELL’s current lineup released a new single “Flaming Heart”. EXELERATE to Release Debut Self-Titled Album on March 10th

EXELERATE is a power thrash metal band from Denmark. They play fast and aggressive riffs combined virtuose guitar solos and high-pitched vocals to create a new, yet familiar brand of metal. They quickly found strength in combining their individual music influences to create a mix of thrash, power and prog metal. It set the stage for the aggressive, but still approachable sound and the complexity of the compositions that all of their songs are made of. 

They are inspired by bands like Megadeth, Anthrax, DIO and Dream Theater and make heavy use of both the traditional and the new in metal. They have a great focus on how their music is perceived in a live situation. “It’s in a live environment you get the chance to grab new listeners by the collar and show them how it’s done”, lead singer Jensen comments. “They need to be enticed, inspired and spoiled until they can’t get enough. It is therefore important for us to give them something to latch on to, like a catchy melody, a fantastic solo or just a massive breakdown. It’s all a part of capturing the audience’s attention and keeping it”. 

Exelerate is now in full swing and ready to release their debut album under the Danish label From The Vaults. The record consists of new and original material, designed to showcase just how metal should sound in 2023. It’s a concept work where every track tells a story about humankind’s tendencies towards both dominance and submission. The themes go from old religions to contemporary ideology worship and even further into the ultimate submission to our own mortality. 

“To date, these are the most ambitious compositions I have ever been a part of writing, and I am incredibly proud of the end result”, Jensen says. “It has taken up many hours, days, weeks, years in the rehearsing studio, and the entire effort is realized in full on the album, I think”. 

“Exelerate” was recorded with the help of, among others, Casper Augustenborg as the drum recording engineer and Io Brix Klarstrup, who pulls double duty as both the band’s bass player and recording engineer. The skilled hands of Marco Angioni (Angioni Studios) have made sure that Exelerate sounds better than ever, with a new massive sound that the listener easily can let their face melt away to. 

The album’s artwork was made by the danish artist Steen Jensen who, with his airbrush and proclivities towards the dark and strange, has made a surreal visual universe inspired by the opening track on the album “Arrival”. 

As a classic old-school heavy metal band, Exelerate will proudly begin touring with its debut album in 2023.

No rest for the wicked! New York City black metal collective BLACK ANVIL will be embarking on a North American tour in the spring of 2023 in support of ENSLAVED and INSOMNIUM!
