TRANSATLANTIC – the Prog Supergroup of Neal Morse, Mike Portnoy, Roine Stolt & Pete Trewavas – are pleased to present a new concert set entitled ‘The Final Flight: Live At L’Olympia’. It was recorded and filmed in France on the last stop of a tour to promote the band’s fifth and most audacious album to date, ‘The Absolute Universe’. This was the multinational group’s first outing in eight years.
Watch the band performing ‘Owl Howl’, a highlight from ‘The Absolute Universe’ album, below.
Filmed by Paul Green (who also shot their ‘Whirld Tour 2010: Live in London release), and mixed by longtime collaborator Rich Mouser, this set will be available as a Special Edition 3CD+Blu-ray Digipak (incl. 5.1 surround sound) & as a Gatefold 180g 4LP release. Both feature artwork by Thomas Ewerhard & photos by Nidhal Marzouk.
Former Sound of Contact members Simon Collins and Kelly Nordstrom have announced their return with the new band eMolecule and the debut album The Architect, which will be released on InsideOutMusic on February 10th, 2023. The band are pleased to release the video for the album’s second single “Beyond Belief”, which you can see HERE
Following weeks of teasing, progressive rockers HAKEN are pleased to announce their seventh studio album ‘Fauna’, their most genre-busting and conceptually fascinating album to date. The album will be released on March 3rd, 2023, and following the release of ‘Nightingale’ earlier this year, they are pleased to present “The Alphabet of Me”, the second track taken from the record. Watch the video for ‘The Alphabet of Me’, directed by Crystal Spotlight, HERE
‘Fauna’ will be available on several formats, including Ltd 2CD (incl. instrumentals), Standard CD, Gatefold 2LP & as Digital Album. The albums stunningly detailed artwork was created by Dan Goldsworthy (Charlie Griffiths, Sylosis).
After releasing their latest record, Spirit of Ecstasy, earlier this year to critical acclaim, avantgarde metal trio IMPERIAL TRIUMPHANT are back today with a video for the album track “Metrovertigo” – to coincide with their announcement for a USA headlining trek in 2023, featuring support from Cloak and Couch Slut (who will be special guests during IMPERIAL TRIUMPHANT’s performance, providing guest vocals, horns, and more!).
For a preview of their stunning live show, be sure to check out the clip of “Metrovertigo” (created by CAM SHUCK PRODUCTIONS) HERE.
Zachary Ezrin (vocals, guitar) comments: “IMPERIAL TRIUMPHANT will be bringing the chaos of New York City to the eastern coast of the USA this winter. We are excited to be accompanied by black metal band Cloak and fellow metropolitans Couch Slut on this excursion. This will be our first headline tour since 2021 and we are elated to bring our golden ritual to a few select cities. We will be joined by horns and special guests making this tour one not to be missed.”
Additionally, IMPERIAL TRIUMPHANT will be playing Spirit Of Ecstasy in full with special guests (to be announced soon) on Roadburn 2023‘s mainstage. “We are pleased to bring the golden ritual once again to the great festival of Tilburg: Roadburn,” the band states. “IMPERIAL TRIUMPHANT will be performing for the first time ever ‘Spirit of Ecstasy’, in its entirety, complete with special guest musicians and flowing champagne. Please join us in this sacred worship of sonic dissonance.”
JESUS PIECE isn’t merely the sum of its parts. It’s the nexus for an explosive creative chemistry between the bands’ five founding members who have channeled their love for old school metalcore, hardcore and death metal into a sound that’s as furious as it is oblique. The band gallantly broke into the scene in 2015, turning heads for their frantic, feral live shows and grandiose, melodic songwriting which has since cemented them as standard stirrers and boundary-breakers.
Today they return to announce that they’ve signed with Century Media Records to bring listeners the next era of Jesus Piece, alongside the first piece of new music since their highly acclaimed debut, “Only Self” (2018).
“An Offering To The Night” is caustic and an exercise in tension-and-release riffage from the guitar team of David Updike and John DiStefano. Bassist Anthony Marinaro and drummer Luis Aponte (LU2K)’s groove-work is as off-kilter as it is distinct and bombastic. At the heart of it all, vocalist Aaron Heard brings the pain with blunt force mental trauma.
The single is a spectacular preview into Jesus Piece’s second act and a passage to something more intense and personal for the five Pennsylvania natives. “An Offering To The Night” is available today on all digital platforms via Century Media and comes alongside a raw video directed by Eric Richter which you can watch today over at Noah.
To coincide with the release of “An Offering To The Night”, Jesus Piece is also releasing a limited edition collection with NYC based clothing brand, Noah. The collaboration includes a made in USA pleated jean, striped rugby, hoodie, skate deck, tote and long and short sleeve tees, all with various Jesus Piece logos and graphics. The collection is available online at www.noahny.com and in-store at Noah Flagship, DSM LA and London.
On February 10th, DISTANT – the multinational down-tempo/deathcore juggernaut from Rotterdam (The Netherlands) and the Slovak Republic – will release their third full-length, Heritage, via Century Media Records. The previously released album tracks – “Exofilth” and “Human Scum” – can be streamed online now, with new single, “Orphan Of Blight”, also available on all digital platforms here. The video for “Orphan Of Blight” [directed by Bart Sperling (Rock Steady Visual)] can be viewed HERE
DISTANT comments: “If there ever was to be a song that encapsulates everything DISTANTis, then it’s ‘Orphan of Blight’ from our upcoming album, ‘Heritage’. With our signature mix of theatrical and energetic delivery, ‘Orphan of Blight’ also includes an opera singer as the wonderful icing on a devastating deathcore cake!”
With an impressive discography of two highly regarded LPs plus a number of singles and EPs behind them, DISTANT is poised to become the face of European deathcore. Heritage – DISTANT’s Century Media debut – sees the five-piece take things to a new level, with a musical and lyrical reckoning: the album continues on the thematic, sci-fi-leaning lyrical cycle which the band transposed from aural intensity to the published page with vocalist Alan Grnja’s and bassist Elmer Maurits’ first novel, The Rise of Tyrannotophia. Already seen and heard across stages worldwide (including 2022’s Summer Breeze and Brutal Assault, as well as North America’s “Chaos & Carnage” tour with labelmates Lorna Shore and Suicide Silence), the tracks found on Heritage once again deliver DISTANT’s signature brand of down-tuned and downtempo heaviness. This is the sound of deathcore rising…
