STORMO Share New Single ‘Valichi, Oltre’

Recent Prosthetic signees STORMO have shared their latest single, Valichi, Oltre, to all streaming platforms. Valichi, Oltre is the Italian post-hardcore group’s second track to be taken from their upcoming fourth studio album,  Endocannibalismo, which is set for release on February 10.

Listen to the single at Apple Music | TIDAL | Deezer | Bandcamp | Spotify
Pre-order Endocannibalismo here.

Speaking on the signing and album announcement, STORMO vocalist Luca Rocco comments: “Valichi, Oltre was one of the last songs we wrote for Endocannibalismo, and it’s the opening track of the record. It has a screamo touch but in a more mathy and heavy way. It speaks about the end of everything, and from the end we wanted to begin this new chapter.”

Formed in 2007 in the Dolomite Alps region of Italy with a deep admiration for their native country’s hardcore punk luminaries in La Quiete and Raein, as well as eighties and nineties cult heroes in Negazione, Wretched and Indigesti. STORMO’s steady rise from unassuming beginnings has been one of consistently stirring songwriting. Having amassed over 400 shows across Europe and the UK – including support slots to Converge, Full of Hell and La Dispute, as well as appearances at Fluff Fest – STORMO’s next chapter sees the band fully come of age.

Sequestered into isolated reflection throughout 2020 and 2021, it was not long before the band found themselves ruminating on concerns far bigger than themselves; namely death and ecological endings. The end not only of themselves, nor the human race as a whole, but of the world as we know it. Upon discovering Brazilian photographer Claudia Andujar’s work on the Yanomami tribe, STORMO soon found themselves intrigued by the concept of endocannibalism – the practice of which includes consuming parts of dead relatives in a display of mourning and to free the deceased’s soul – leading the band to take on death and egotism as central influences for Endocannibalismo.

Lyrically, Endocannibalismo was written entirely in the band’s native tongue; partly as a byproduct of the albums nocturnal and instinctive writing process and partly in honour of their history as a band. Recorded and mixed by Giulio Favero (OvO, Buñuel, Zu) before being placed in the hands of Giovanni Versari (Muse, Raein, Verdena) at La Maesta for mastering, Endocannibalismo’s 11 tracks possess a crystalline clarity to service STORMO’s surging blastbeats, spiralling rhythms and noise punk cacophony, whilst staying true to the each songs deep seated primal nature.

Seeking to tie together the whole process visually, STORMO took to artificial intelligence when creating Endocannibalismo’s art. Utilising specific prompts, the AI render was put through stages of mutation before culminating in its final form. A haunting graphic representation of living beings in a state of constant death and rebirth.

Endocannibalismo tracklist:
1. Valichi, Oltre
2. PV77
3. Sorte
4. Spire
5. Anabasi
6. Frame
7. Endocannibalismo
8. Disequilibrio

KÄRBHOLZ have released the official video for “Raubtier”, the first single from the upcoming new studio album “Kapitel 11: Barrikaden”, set to be released on March 24th via Metalville Records.

KÄRBHOLZ – Kapitel 11: “Barrikaden”

It will be 18 years in 2023 for the 4 friends of KÄRBHOLZ from the tranquil town of Ruppichteroth in Western Germany.

Some people might think that at some point the wear and tear must show. Not at all. Because: the forced break of the past two years was by no means just a stroke of bad luck for Torben (vocals), Adrian (guitar), Stefan (bass) and Henning (drums). True to the motto “The break is also part of the music!”, the time was used to catch their breath, recharge and creatively come together and reunite in the rehearsal room. Once again, the four guys were supported by the producer team Eike Freese (Chameleon Studios) and Alexander Dietz (Heaven Shall Burn, Chemical Burn Studios).

On Kapitel 11: “Barrikaden” you can hear 11 pieces. Songs that tell stories from life, sometimes in a small, sometimes in a big way. The opener and namesake BARRIKADEN, which questions entrenched social structures and interpersonal beliefs with a hard metal edge. The vehement RAUBTIER, which tries to reawaken the same. UNTER FERNER LIEFEN… “always me and my mind”. An ode to one’s own irrationality. Or also the brute EINS GEGEN EIN, which longs for peace with itself, comes to the conclusion that in the battle with itself – unfortunately – there is usually no winner, before it betrays its true, all-encompassing intention in the end. These are some examples that make clear where KÄRBHOLZ have their musical influences. There’s more “Killswitch Engage” in here than “Die Toten Hosen”. That makes it hard to pigeonhole the songs.

But of course, not all that glitters is metal. The musical range of the album is proven by songs like the poem DER ZUG set to music, the “almost crossover” brawler MUT GEGEN PERSPEKTIVE or GAR NICHTS, which alternates between bittersweet harmonies and rigorous reckoning with false friends.

KÄRBHOLZ – Kapitel 11: “Barrikaden” is a good 40-minute musical journey through the various corners of the KÄRBHOLZ cosmos, but without ever losing itself. An album that usually only reveals its musical complexity at second glance, but in the end leaves you feeling good and sends you on another journey of discovery.

Kapitel 11: “Barrikaden” will be released on CD, vinyl, as a fan box and digitally.

PHOEBUS THE KNIGHT comments on “The Scarlet Dance”:
“The ‘Scarlet Dance’ is the first epic battle of the album. Phoebus found Selene in the Darkest woods and they’re going to fight the Beast with a strategy they came with. For this song, we went with the typical Power Metal riffs and verses, made a long orchestral bridge with some folk surprises after it and a chorus inspired by operatic melodies to make it a long, rich and truly epic song!”

Each track of this truly fantastic debut album is a chapter of Phoebus’ story, the knight alchemist:
from the forgotten dimension of the “Darkest Woods”, going through the gates of Hell, to the crucible of Terror in Paris, you will follow Phoebus and his friends the Knights of Heliopolis, in an epic quest to defeat The Beast and his desire for eternal war.

To put all the events in a dramaturgic vision, this collection of songs is a blend of several musical moods, combining heavy ballads, Metal tracks with majestic orchestrations and instrumental parts.
Lyrics are for the most part in English and a bit of French, all performed with the beguiling lyrical bass voice of Axel, in clean and screamed vocals.

And what a solemn stroke of luck master Axel is for the music of the band:
All too seldom has such a noble sublime voice been carved out of such an inconceivably gigantic vocal talent with such immeasurable dedication and downright unearthly diligence!

So you can enjoy classical Symphonic Metal, Melodic Death Metal, musical, medieval pieces and even passages in the style of great masters like Bach, Mozart or even Rachmaninov!

Witness the legendary fight of Phoebus and his friends against the Beast and the vampire knights! To guide you in this quest, the master drawer Mohamed Aouamri (Sylve, Mortepierre) illustrated each chapters and gave life to this world of Fantasy and History.

“Ferrum Fero Ferro Feror”, Phoebus’ first adventure with his companions, the Knights of Heliopolis, is waiting for you!
Go on an epic and original musical adventure, mixing Symphonic Metal, Heroic-Fantasy and History, written by Axel de Montalembert, composed by Adrien Djouadou and performed by the one and only PHOEBUS THE KNIGHT!

Robin Of Locksley • Drums

PHOEBUS THE KNIGHT was born in the mind of Axel de Montalembert. Passionate of music, heroic-fantasy, esoterism and history, he created the story of Phoebus and his companions, the Knights Of Heliopolis, melting together heroic-fantasy and history.

To translate his great tale into music, he needed a composer that could write for a Metal band and a full orchestra to give to the story the epic breath it needed. That’s how he met Adrien Djouadou, a classically trained opera singer active on established stages and together, they created the whole concept of PHOEBUS THE KNIGHT.

Axel would write the lyrics and naturally, sing them and Adrien would compose the whole music, play the guitar and do the backing vocals. But PHOEBUS THE KNIGHT needed musicians, so they found a great team to play with them on this journey:
Noémie Allet on the bass and vocals, Adrien Guingal on the guitar and Guillaume Remih on the drums. Each member of the band would represent a character in the story of Phoebus and his companions.

Naturally, PHOEBUS THE KNIGHT became a Symphonic Metal band with a whole conceptual and visual universe. They value quality in music, production and work invested by involved parties.

PHOEBUS THE KNIGHT finds its roots in bands like Nightwish, Epica, Within Temptation, Powerwolf, Rhapsody Of Fire, Cradle Of Filth …

SCHATTENMANN Share Brand New Single & Music Video ‘Menschenhasser’

Dark Rock / Industrial metal act SCHATTENMANN presents a brand new single and music video!

The band’s latest, third studio album Chaos (2021, AFM Records) seen them unmistakably showcase: their music became heavier, more metallic, more multifaceted and uncompromising in terms of content. The German band, that will please fans of Rammstein, Oomph! and beyond, has taken the decisive third step and moved the essence of new songs with relentless consistency into the focus of an uncompromising sound. With Chaos, SCHATTENMANN has purposefully expanded their sound to include modern and enthralling elements through the influences of metal and industrial.

Now, the band suprises the scene with a brand new song, entitled “Menschenhasser”. Says frontman Frank Herzig: “Everyone knows that feeling, when everything becomes too much, and overwhelms you. It doesn’t matter whether it’s job-related or private, sometimes it’s simply enough and you want to be left alone. Switch off the world around you, be alone. That’s what Menschenhasser ( in english Humans Hater) is all about. We are no misanthropes, but sometimes too much is just too much and we mutate into the praised Menschenhasser. With this song, we just let out all our frustration and just let it go in those 3 minutes. The song is something like musical therapy for us, after which you just feel better.”

Get the song on all digital platforms at THIS LOCATION!

SCHATTENMANN are currently touring with J.B.O., with a re-scheduled album release tour in Germany to follow in the Spring 2023. All upcoming SCHATTENMANN live dates can be found here:

Finnish metal band KOITOS released a single “Tämä Maa” (eng. “This earth”), which is the second release from the upcoming debut album. First single “Ilman kurssia” was released in October.

“As a composition, the song is dark and inconsolable so the apocalyptic theme for the lyrics ran through my mind right from the moment the song was created. Unfortunately the topic is constantly relevant“, describes vocalist Matti Hiitti.

In addition to the composition and lyrics, the song was recorded and produced entirely by the band itself. In addition, the band’s bassist edited the music video and worked as an video shooting assistant. The song was mixed and mastered by Rami Nykänen, who has previously worked with bands like One Morning Left and Balance Breach.
