MIKE STARRS is the former lead singer of jazz rock fusionists Colosseum II, Lucifer’s Friend and the German band Lake. This is the first ever re-release of his only solo album, Electric Garden, with four bonus tracks added.
When it was first released in 1973, Electric Garden was only available in six European countries and the non-album singles, now included as bonus tracks, were only available in three European countries. This re-release is a ‘catch-all’ of his 1970s solo releases.
The album has been re-mastered by band member Gerry Morris and approved by Mike Starrs and original producer Tony Atkins. The booklet includes two sets of liner notes; the original 1973 notes and retrospective notes newly written by Mike Starrs.
All the tracks feature Geoff Whitehorn of Procol Harum on guitar and all but one track includes John Richardson of The Rubettes on drums.
Mike Starrs said of the re-release: “A young man who had his whole life / career in front of him. I remember hearing my first single Love Song on Juke Box Jury and they all voted it a hit. Who could ever have imagined that I would be sitting here talking about and reminiscing about my very first album Electric Garden…?”
After releasing 3 albums, 2 EP’s and touring the world multiple times as headliner and with Airbourne, and touring Australia constantly with Rose Tattoo, The Angels, Baby Animals, Tea party, The Screaming Jets, Endless Boogie, Nick Oliveri and many more, PALACE OF THE KING return with a blistering new hard rock track which sees the band back on the airwaves in top form sounding fresh and re-energised.
I’m Sorry Blues features new production elements from Tim Henwood showing that POTK is far from the scrap heap and ready to rock well into the future. Henwood snarls out a killer bluesy rock vocal as only he can, sounding classic rock and modern young and edgy all at the same time. Robert Plant, Josh Kiszka and Steve Marriot would all be proud.
The drums by Cameron McGlinchey are insanely good and full of energy. McGlinchey joined the band after returning from Europe in 2016, and after hearing the previous POTK singles featuring Mcglinchey, it’s obvious to hear his almost Rage Against The Machine style influence on the band and that he is bringing an incredible amount of energy to ‘I’m Sorry Blues’.
Of course, the foundation for any Palace Of The King record is the always inspired and amazing Seany Johnston who plays both keys and guitar on this track like a hybrid of Jimi Hendrix and John Lord combined into one fantastic package of beautiful rock n roll music.
Anthony Licciardi lays down the bass along with McGlinchey in such a brutal, forceful way it’s easy to see why he has such a reputation as a force of nature at POTK gigs. When the band is cranking Licciardi slams the bass and when things get funky, he’s right there with McGlinchey laying it down.
2022 and the forthcoming album sees the return of the great and powerful Leigh Maden to POTK after sitting on the bench throughout the Get Right With Your Maker album and tour. Maden’s soulful style and retro feel is a welcome return to the band, and one can’t help but feel there’s a magic that has come along for the ride.
THE DAMNNATION attacks with their debut album, releasing a versatile sound that mixes multiple strands of extreme metal and brings old school thrash to life. Continuing to promote the album, the band releases the music video for the track “Slaves of Society”, produced and recorded by Starship Videos.
“In this video we decided to do it with a more ‘stage’ feel to express the idea of anger and anguish that is conveyed in the lyrics, a very evident moment now in the country”, comments vocalist and guitarist Renata Petrelli.
The band launches the new video and prepares for the Way of Perdition Latin America Tour, which starts this week.
‘WAY OF PERDITION’ was released May 6, 2022 via Soulseller Records on CD, LP and digitally, and produced and recorded by Rogério Oliveira, who worked on the EP Parasite’ and mixed and mastered by the renowned Martín Furia, who has worked on the Nervosa, Eskröta and BARK albums. Martin was recently announced as the new guitarist for the band Destruction.
Based in São Paulo / Brazil, THE DAMNNATION consist of Renata Petrelli (vocals, guitar), Aline Dutchi (bass, backing vocals), and Ellen Diniz (drums).
In 2020 they dropped a four-track EP entitled “Parasite”, on which the raging fist of old school Heavy Metal hit the skull of Thrash Metal. Imagine the love child of Judas Priest, Megadeth, and Power Trip if you will.
The thrash metal power trio is signed to Dutch label Soulseller Records. “We are very happy with this support and to be part of this cast with incredible bands from the world stage! We’re definitely going to have an incredible road together!”
The album received great reviews on several websites and specialized magazines such as Decibel Magazine, Metal Injection, Rock Hard, Zero Tolerance, Metal Hammer, among others. The Damnation played major shows across Brazil to promote and record and will embark on a late 2022 tour of Latin America.
Recently the band announced the departure of the great drummer Luana Diniz, who recorded and performed at ‘Way Of Perdition’, and announced the entry of the new drummer, Ellen Tavares, who will record the band’s new album scheduled for the end of 2023.
Now, the power trio will strike back even heavier – be prepared!

Just recently ONE LAST DAY unleased their explosive new single, “Out Of The Black” alongside a music video. “Out Of The Black” is mixed and mastered by Meyrick de la Fuente at Floodgate Audio. Video is recorded, directed and edited by Dion Douglas. Buy/stream ‘Out Of The Black’ single at https://ampl.ink/Oldootbsingle
Alex, the vocalist, tells about the song and its story: “Out of the black is a dark tale of abuse at the hands of the most unexpected perpetrators, your partners and loved ones. Although its written lyrically man abusing woman, we know it happens in all kinds of settings, including women abusing men or just humans abusing humans. I wrote this song lyrically a few years ago and I took the inspiration from 2 situations including one of a friend and all I wanted to do was save them, and a previous relationship of my own where I had a scenario where I was being attacked when my partner would drink a bottle of wine and wake up like nothing happened. Fast forward to 2022, myself and the guys have now turned the song into it’s final form and I hope it’s enjoyed by all music listeners out there.”
Earlier the band shared on artwork: “The artwork cover is a film still featuring our dear friend Yasmin Raggett who is the star of our video and really captures the essence of the story.”
