Swedish Metal Veterans FRETERNIA have announced the release of their new album “The Final Stand”, coming out on November 18th via ROAR! Rock Of Angels Records.

Freternia have proven to be a band that still is more than relevant into the heavy/power metal world! After seventeen years of silence, they released the album “The Gathering” in 2019. High reviews and praising words followed the album’s release and now the metal veterans once again are ready to unleash a new album in to the world! Back to basics is the keyword since on “The Final Stand” you can enjoy classic Freternia sounding music with high quality craftsmanship. The combined guitar-work by Patrik Von Porat and Tomas Wäppling blend perfectly into ten masterpieces inspired by fantasy and wild imagination. Once again the tales told from the minds of Wäppling and Humppi recount tales of loneliness and pain while the ongoing theme is hope and the lyrics refer to just that. The unique voice of Humppi is more powerful than ever and delivers melody lines created from the heart. Freternia has once again proven to be a band with many shapes and the skill of the musicians should not leave anyone disappointed. ATROCITY‘s “OKKULT” trilogy will come to a worthy conclusion with the release of the band’s new death metal masterpiece “OKKULT III” on January 20, 2023 via Massacre Records!

On their new album, the band has recruited several guest musicians, such as Elina Siirala (Leaves’ Eyes, Angel Nation), Zoë Marie Federoff (Catalyst Crime, Cradle Of Filth), Robse Dahn (Equilibrium) and Misstiq.

Alexander Krull himself produced, mixed and mastered the album, and Stefan Heilemann (HEILEMANIA) once again captured the album’s atmosphere with his artwork. The Emmy Award-winning sound designer Katie Halliday (“SAW”, “Stranger Things”, “Star Trek: Discovery”) also once again contributed sound effects to the album.

BLACKLIST Share New Single ‘Nightbound’

New York post punk/dark rock veterans BLACKLIST are gearing up for the release of the band’s highly anticipated sophomore full-length record “Afterworld”, which will be coming out on October 28 via Profound Lore Records. In support of the new album, the band has just released the fourth and final single “Nightbound”, streaming here:

We wrote the first four new songs that informed the direction of ‘Afterworld’ in June of 2021. I was coming off of a spring Queensrÿche binge and into the summer listening constantly to the most recent Vain record. I’d bought an old ESP guitar online, and I was learning lots of classic Dokken and Iron Maiden tunes in my basement in Virginia. You can really hear all this on “Nightbound.” I had this vague idea, inspired by Maiden’s “Somewhere In Time,” of doing a guitar synth record. Something that had always been missing from the early Blacklist stuff was synth – we were, after all, on Wierd Records at the time! I tried an old Korg, but this was one case where analog and vintage wasn’t better. I landed on the Meris Enzo pedal, which proved really inspirational. Suddenly playing these Jake E. Lee-type riffs sounded like Simple Minds – which couldn’t be more Blacklist. 

He continues:

Lyrically, it pulls together a couple of things – firstly, it’s a ‘band of outsiders’ anthem which has always been something we’ve taken from metal as much as from bands like Suede, and cast in a heavily political light. Secondly, in the same way “Language of the Living Dead” embraced Slavoj Zizek’s use of this horror trope to talk about communication, this one embraces cyberfeminist Donna Haraway’s description of the vampire as “…the one who pollutes lineages on the wedding night; the one that effects category transformations by illegitimate passages of substance; the one who drinks and infuses blood in a paradigmatic act of infecting whatever poses as pure.” I love this because the rising forces of fascism adore pure lineages and hate category transformations. So here the gangs we imagine from films like The Lost Boys or Near Dark can be thought of as a nightbound brood of blood corrupters. 

I also think that over the last several years, some of the most sophisticated, intellectual horror films have been vampire films. For a long time I think bands have been worried to play in that bloodbath for fear of being immediately categorized as adolescent and unserious. It’s pretty clear to me that the mall goth implication is pretty outdated and there’s definitely room for a re-imagining of how these images and ideas can function in a musical context.  

Featuring ten brand new tracks packed with the band’s captivating and distinctive sound, Blacklist‘s upcoming album seamlessly picks up where its critically acclaimed predecessor “Midnight of the Century” (2009) left off: Powerful and dark anthems, blending elements of shoegaze and heavy metal with coldwave in a fluid motion. “Afterworld” was produced by Joshua Strachan at Primal Architecture Studio, Appalachia, VA and mixed by Sanford Parker (Darkthrone, Yob, BLOODYMINDED). The album is available for pre-order HERE

IMPERIAL TIDE Sign with Mascot Records, Release Debut Single ‘Slip’

LA and Las Vegas based hardcore-metal outfit IMPERIAL TIDE has announced their signing to Mascot Records / Mascot Label Group, which will be releasing the band’s debut solo EP in early 2023. To celebrate the announcement, the band is offering fans the first taste of their upcoming project with their debut single “Slip,” an in-your-face, blustering rocker that calls to mind artists like Code Orange, Knocked Loose, and Gojira.

Italian Gothic-Black metal veterans CADAVERIA are pleased to be able to continue promoting their highly anticipated latest album “Emptiness” with the release of a new video for the song “The Sky That Screams Above Us”, that can be watched below.

The simplicity of the shots, taken in the studio during the recording of the song, and the particularity of the vertical format (suitable for smartphones) come together in this new video, as another example of the synthesis of contrasts of which the band is a master. Whether you call them horror, gothic or dark metal, one thing is certain: in their 20+ years career  CADAVERIA have become one of the most iconic bands of the Italian metal scene.

CADAVERIA is the creative alter-ego of Italian-based metal singer Raffaella Rivarolo, better known by her stage name Cadaveria, one of the first women to hit the extreme metal scene in the early Nineties.

CADAVERIA band was founded in 2001 by Cadaveria herself and drummer Marçelo Santos, to freely express themselves as musicians and extreme artists.

Since CADAVERIA’s debut album The Shadows’ Madame (2002) the band’s style is labeled Horror Metal. Their personal sound is imbued with gloomy and sinister atmospheres and it mixes Black Metal with classical Heavy Metal, Death Metal and Gothic influences. The lyrics, scheming, hermetic and introspective, mirror the dark soul and the vexed personality of the singer Cadaveria.

2021 is a meaningful one for CADAVERIA band, as the band celebrate its 20 years of activity. A career that boasts five full length albums, some reissues, an EP (with Necrodeath), a retrospective double DVD and a huge support from fans of Central America, where CADAVERIA have made a series of headlining tours, between 2007 and 2015.

From 2012 on, with the release of the most recent albums Horror Metal and Silence, CADAVERIA have been engaged in many live dates that have seen them protagonists of different stages in Russia, Germany, France, Belgium, Romania, as well as numerous Italian shows as headliner and in support of Cradle of Filth, Arch Enemy and many more.
