British alternative art rock band SHAPE OF WATER have just revealed a new music video and single “Don’t Leave Me in the Dark“. This is the second drop from their upcoming LP album Amor Fati which is scheduled to be released on October 28, 2022 via Eclipse Records. The video was directed by Luca De Falco.

“Lonely, aren’t we all? This song is literally about a wet dream and the dreamer is left alone, and loneliness is the real meaning of these lyrics and what we experience when we’re lonely” says lead vocalist & keyboardist Rox Capriotti. “We had thousands of ideas for this video, but we were running out of time and budget so one day, during one of the numerous meetings we held to decide what kind of video we wanted to shoot, we said ‘why don’t we try to do something funny this time?’ and then we all came up with the idea of a dildo singing alone the song in its room, praying for not ‘being left in the dark’.” Guitarist Luca De Falco continues, “The video is half filmed and half drawn. We built the room with a cardboard and various stuff we had in the house, the window with the rain and our logo in the back is an iPad running constantly a videoclip with rain and buildings, and the result is amazing!”

Stream the single on Spotify, Apple Music, Pandora, Tidal, Deezer, and Amazon Music

The new album by Shape Of Water is titled, Amor Fati, Latin for “Love of Fate,” alluding to Nietzsche and the philosophy of determinism which would imply that destiny is already written and we must embrace the meaninglessness of our free will. Furthermore, this aesthetic (and rocking) masterpiece delivers a poignant message about isolation as a swansong, speaking to the awesome potential of humankind as we ironically and tragically blend into one another. We wear masks of balance and hope, yet death makes us dust that slips away in the wind. We create powerful machines and build monuments of hope, but we lose ourselves in the process. Musically, the album is as diverse as it is sonically pleasing. Instead of guitar power chords used for punch and dynamics, Shape of Water employs tactical low-toned synths in a fashion similar to John Carpenter utilizing what he called “stingers,” lending impact and potency to the given Michael Meyers sighting. On the mid and high end, the band delivers various styles of expressive, elegant and dynamic keyboards: delicate and refined and soaring and bold. Guitars are used tastefully, so smoothly at times that one might mistake them for keyboards and visa-versa, and the vocals are what Salieri, in the film Amadeus, called an “absolute beauty.”

NEROARGENTO Release New Single ‘The Nameless One’ Ft. Infernalizer

Award-winning Italian producer, multi-instrumentalist, arranger, and re-mixer, NeroArgento will be releasing his sixth studio album “Land of Silence” via Rockshots Records on October 7th, 2022. In lead up to its release later this week, NeroArgento is sharing the single “The Nameless One” featuring Infernalizer.

NeroArgento adds: “This was the first collaboration for the album. I’ve known Infernalizer for many years along with performing with him in The Silverblack and producing all his solo albums, so this collaboration came together very naturally. We worked on a super electro-industrial contaminated song, acid synths, cyberpunk atmospheres, and a lot of fxs. Enjoy!“

“Land of Silence” follows the success of 2020’s “Circles”, which soared to #10 on the iTunes Top 200 Italy Rock Chart along with more than 1 million streams on Spotify. The new record is an explosive mixture of grunge rock, industrial metal, and electronic music, packed with orchestral influences and acid fuzzy sounds. It is also the most coherent album to date from NeroArgento‘s discography. It’s a solid industrial foundation composed of unmistakable low-tuned guitar riffs and very heavy drum grooves, topped with electronics and synths ranging from the most acid electro to retro wave pop-friendly melodies, without forgetting the usual and distinctive vocal layers.

With great attention to every aspect, “Land of Silence” is entirely performed, recorded, and mixed by NeroArgento.
The record was mastered by Brandon Ashley at D-Tuned in Brighton (UK) and features prominent guests such as Vicio (Subsonica) and Claudio Ravinale (Infernalizer).

“Land Of Silence” will be released on October 7h, 2022, as Digital & CD Digipak, pre-sales: https://bit.ly/LandOfSilenceCD

NeroArgento adds: “I’m super excited about ‘Land of silence’. This is my most consistent album, and every track sounds distinct. I always loved to contaminate and mix a lot of genres together trying something new, but as my past album “Circles” shows with its results, keeping a strong line and working on that is the best choice. I’m super satisfied also because once again I did and played everything on my own. The album has super melodic and mainstream moments, but keeps the focus on that line, so this is an industrial cyber metal record, while in the past the only kind of music definition could be classified as ‘crossover’.“

As a producer/arranger NeroArgento has appeared on more than 50 records released worldwide and is endorsed by ESP guitars, ML sound Labs, and Mad Cat Amps.

OBSIDIAN SKIES Share Sci-Fi Saga with 11-Minute Epic ‘Rebirth In The Stars’ from “Saturnian” EP

OBSIDIAN SKIES, hailing from Colorado USA embark on a wild progressive melodic death metal journey through space, and on their upcoming debut EP “Saturnian”, share the trials, tribulations, and hope with their listeners through the concept record. The second single from this offering is “Rebirth In The Stars”, telling of humanity’s new colony established on Saturn and the emotions of those who remember those left being on a dying Earth. Riots and insurrections damage the colony, and the resulting martial law sends them into further darkness.

Musically this song has a much darker quality to it than the opening track “Celestial Age”, relying heavily on parallel minor chords. Much of the song also has a more technical feel to it, drawing inspiration from classical-era music. The harsh vocals are much faster in this track, giving many sections a very frantic feel. The tempo of the song as a whole is higher as well. The orchestra is featured heavily in this track, with a four-minute orchestral section in the middle of it. The track explores much of the thematic material introduced by the traditional metal instruments. Rhythmically, this song features many changing time signatures and some metric modulation to shift between tempos. Obsidian Skies comments on their process:

“This is the song where we really established our sound. We allowed ourselves to explore the studio aspect of the band more than we had previously. Writing an 11-minute song wasn’t something we set out to do, but the song evolved organically. We didn’t write this song “front to back”, instead often adding parts in the middle where we felt they better fit a transition or belonged thematically. It is the darkest, most technical song of the three, and explores more of the dystopian side of the concept. We challenged ourselves in the instrumentation, and we definitely felt we became better musicians by writing and recording this song.”

Obsidian Skies’ lyrics draw inspiration from science fiction and fantasy. Each of their songs tells a story, and in this first release, all the stories take place on Saturn’s moon, Titan. Tim Watervoort (guitars/basses/vocals) writes the lyrics with Logan Dougherty’s (guitars/piano/orchestration) input. Completely collaborative, they both value each other’s input and trust each other musically. No part of the song goes into the final product without both of them in agreement on it. From their time in their previous band Endlight, they really learned how to communicate with each other.

“Rebirth In The Stars” can be heard via its premiere on Metal-Rules HERE.

The EP “Saturnian” is being released on October 14, 2022.

BLACK REUSS Releases Single + Video ‘Anger’ from “Metamorphosis”

BLACK REUSS is the flow of life of a man who describes the change and chapter he experienced, through music. Life is like a river, always moving, mostly downward. The name originates from the river Reuss, a Swiss river that rises in the Gotthard massif in the middle of Switzerland, where Black Reuss lived during the writing of “Metamorphosis”.

“Metamorphosis” was the first chapter, re-released on September 6th, 2022, by Sliptrick Records. In this album is included the song “Anger”.

SLAUGHTER THE GIANT Release Debut Album “Depravity” on October 28th

SLAUGHTER THE GIANT are ready to release their debut album “Depravity” on October 28th via Hammerheart Records. A melodic intense Death Metal attack not hear before from Belgian soil.

Slaughter The Giant was formed in 2018 and released their 5-track debut EP “Asylum of the Damned” in 2019 and it received good reviews worldwide. The year 2022 marks a new post-Covid start with the release of their first full-length album entitled “Depravity”, on Hammerheart Records. Slaughter the Giant performs intense melodic Death Metal that will appeal to fans of The Black Dahlia Murder and At The Gates. Hammerheart Records heard the album and was convinced of its quality and a deal was made.

“Depravity” is a giant leap when compared to their EP, and acts on a whole different level. The brutality and melodic side have been pushed to new boundaries, while not losing the “good song” idea as a first must. The influences are still heard, but are now just that; influences.

In the track “Co-ed Butcher” we find a kind of Obscura-esque approch that clashes into Flesh God Apocalypse alike symphony sounds, and album highlight “The Undead” is not a single and video without a reason, featuring excellent solo work on the guitar. The over all level is high and consistent throughout the album, and makes one replay after finishing.

– Recorded by Yarne Heylen at Project Zero Studio for an ear candy sound!
