Prosthetic Records are thrilled to announce the signing of Italian post-hardcore band STORMO. Accompanying the signing announcement STORMO have today shared the news of their upcoming fourth studio album, Endocannibalismo, set for release via the Los Angeles label on February 10. Endocannibalismo’s lead single, Sorte, is premiering now via Metal Injection.

Sorte is now available on all streaming platforms.

Speaking on the signing and album announcement, STORMO vocalist Luca Rocco comments: “We’re more than glad to announce the planned release of our new album through Prosthetic Records! The label is currently working with some of our favorite bands. We couldn’t have imagined a better home for STORMO.

“The album speaks about the death of the world as we know it and its transformation into something different. Endocannibalismo is namely the practice of consuming parts of dead relatives in a display of mourning and to free the deceased’s soul. We’re being consumed by the cosmo and understanding death as transformation could probably lead us to a better world, ecologically and socially speaking.”

Of the lead single, Rocco adds: “On Sorte we tried to approach a kind of different sound, we used microtonal guitar and bass and we wanted to write a song that was fuzzy, psych, simple, heavy but still attributable to our own sound. It took some time but eventually it worked pretty well.”

Formed in 2007 in the Dolomite Alps region of Italy with a deep admiration for their native country’s hardcore punk luminaries in La Quiete and Raein, as well as eighties and nineties cult heroes in Negazione, Wretched and Indigesti. STORMO’s steady rise from unassuming beginnings has been one of consistently stirring songwriting. Having amassed over 400 shows across Europe and the UK – including support slots to Converge, Full of Hell and La Dispute, as well as appearances at Fluff Fest – STORMO’s next chapter sees the band fully come of age.

Sequestered into isolated reflection throughout 2020 and 2021, it was not long before the band found themselves ruminating on concerns far bigger than themselves; namely death and ecological endings. The end not only of themselves, nor the human race as a whole, but of the world as we know it. Upon discovering Brazilian photographer Claudia Andujar’s work on the Yanomami tribe, STORMO soon found themselves intrigued by the concept of endocannibalism – the practice of which includes consuming parts of dead relatives in a display of mourning and to free the deceased’s soul – leading the band to take on death and egotism as central influences for Endocannibalismo.

Lyrically, Endocannibalismo was written entirely in the band’s native tongue; partly as a byproduct of the albums nocturnal and instinctive writing process and partly in honour of their history as a band. Recorded and mixed by Giulio Favero (OvO, Buñuel, Zu) before being placed in the hands of Giovanni Versari (Muse, Raein, Verdena) at La Maesta for mastering, Endocannibalismo’s 11 tracks possess a crystalline clarity to service STORMO’s surging blastbeats, spiralling rhythms and noise punk cacophony, whilst staying true to the each songs deep seated primal nature.

Seeking to tie together the whole process visually, STORMO took to artificial intelligence when creating Endocannibalismo’s art. Utilising specific prompts, the AI render was put through stages of mutation before culminating in its final form. A haunting graphic representation of living beings in a state of constant death and rebirth.

Endocannibalismo tracklist:
1. Valichi, Oltre
2. PV77
3. Sorte
4. Spire
5. Anabasi
6. Frame
7. Endocannibalismo
8. Disequilibrio
9. Deserti
10. Vipere, Ombre
11. Sopravvivenza e Forme

W.A.S.P. Blackie Lawless Interview – Fans Q & A @ Nov 18 2022- The Paramount N.Y.

For The Metal Voice Kenny Kessel reporting at W.A.S.P. Blackie Lawless fan Q and A on Nov 18, 2022 at The Paramount Theater in Huntington, New York. Check out the fan Q and A and the answers from Blackie Lawless.

Blackie talks about death threats and getting shot at after the 80’s PRMC hearings and how it changed his life; the changing music industry with technology; if he would ever do another complete album live(other than the crimson Idol) and his recollections of Hear n ‘Aid experience plus a lot more.

During the Q and A Blackie was asked by a fan what happened after PMRC debate and how it affected the band and if the PMRC tried to shut the band down at the time. Lawless responded,” it changed my life, if that’s what you mean. It made me more of a recluse. A couple thousand death threats and bomb scares and getting shot at a couple of times usually has a tendency to alter your outlook on life a little. Also we were exposed to extreme pain very early and fame is kind of like this.  If this table is a smorgasbord, it’s like an evil Genie stands down at the end of the the smorgasbord and says you can take anything you want but if you take one thing you take it all. You do not get to pick and choose, so all the good stuff that you like in the smorgasbord that’s wonderful but you got to take the bad stuff too. So it ends up being a life-altering experience but one I don’t think you can ever really go back at least I haven’t too. “

The Parents Music Resource Center (PMRC) was an American committee formed in 1985 with the stated goal of increasing parental control over the access of children to music deemed to have violent, drug-related or sexual themes via labeling albums with Parental Advisory stickers. The committee was founded by four women known as the “Washington Wives”—a reference to their husbands’ connections with government in the Washington, D.C. area. The women who founded the PMRC are Tipper Gore, wife of Senator and later Vice President Al Gore; Susan Baker, wife of Treasury Secretary James Baker; Pam Howar, wife of Washington realtor Raymond Howar; and Sally Nevius, wife of former Washington City Council Chairman John Nevius. The PMRC eventually grew to include 22 participants before shutting down in the mid-to-late 1990s.

One of the actions taken by the PMRC was compiling a list of fifteen songs in popular music, at the time, that they found the most objectionable. This list is known as the “Filthy Fifteen” and consists of the following songs along with the lyrical content category for which each song was considered objectionable. W.A.S.P “Animal (Fuck Like a Beast)” was number 9. (Wikipedia)

AYREON have revealed a lyric video for “Dawn Of A Million Souls” ft. Russell Allen & Michael Romeo of Symphony X. The song is taken from “Universal Migrator, Pt. I & 2 (2022 Remixed & Remastered)”, out now via Music Theories Recordings / Mascot Label Group.

You can watch the video here:

Ayreon recently also announced a run of four shows ‘01011001 – Live Beneath the Waves’ on 15, 16, and 17 September at 013 in Tilburg, The Netherlands which sold out immediately. Due to popular demand, they have announced a 5th show on the afternoon of Saturday the 16th of September 2023. Guests for the shows include Simone Simons, Damian Wilson, Hansi Kürsch, Anneke van Giersbergen, Daniel Gildenlöw and more. Tickets are available HERE.

Talking about the song Arjen Lucassen says, “Both singer Sir Russell Allen and guitar player Michael Romeo of Symphony X recorded their parts in the States. I still remember when Russell played their contributions to me on the phone, I literally cried tears of joy! This song has become one of the fan’s favourites, judging from the crowd’s reaction every time we play it live.  In this re-mixed version, I put Russell’s vocals more in the foreground. Personally, I also think that the amazing drums by Ed Warby sound much more powerful and crisp in this new version. Hope you agree, enjoy this great video made by Dave Letelier, assisted by Wayne Joyner!”

It is released on multiple formats – 1) A limited edition 56-page artbook including a 40-page comic, exclusive images of “the process”, 5 CDs (including previously unreleased audio) and a bonus DVD with 5.1 surround mix, 2 binaural headphone mixes and more. 2) A vinyl box set with 4 LPs on marble vinyl in 2 gatefolds, a 40-page comic book, a bonus DVD, a double-sided poster, and a sticker sheet. The vinyl box set is limited to 1000 numbered copies webshop exclusive). 3) 2CD + Bonus CD. Additionally, “The Dream Sequencer” and “Flight of the Migrator” are available separately on 180-gram orange transparent vinyl and digitally on all platforms. The bonus CD will feature an hour of previously unreleased material, ranging from versions of the tracks with different (guide) vocals to entirely new (well, old) tracks that didn’t make the albums and were previously never released.

Universal Migrator Pt 1: The Dream Sequencer and Universal Migrator Pt 2: Flight of the Migrator were released initially simultaneously in 2000, following the majestically sprawling hit album Into the Electric Castle two years previously. The Dream Sequencer continues the plot from The Final Experiment (1995), starting in the year 2084 when the final world war wiped out all life on Earth. Flight of the Migrator continues the story of the last living human being, the colonist on Mars and his decision to use the Dream Sequencer machine to travel back to before the universe was formed.

The two albums feature an extravaganza of stunning musicians and vocalists such as Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden), Floor Jansen (Nightwish), Edward Reekers (Kayak), Damian Wilson (Headspace/Threshold), Neal Morse (Spock’s Beard/Transatlantic/Flying Colors), Russell Allen (Symphony X), Andi Deris (Helloween), Michael Romeo (Symphony X) and many more.

Arjen Lucassen continues his crusade of remixing and remastering his finest work to absolute perfection and Universal Migrator, Pt. I & 2 (2022 Remixed & Remastered) is a stunning addition to his spectacular cannon. With technology advanced, fans can now get the chance to hear the albums through the ears of Lucassen as he intended them.

CELESTIAL WIZARD have released a videoclip for ‘Ice Realm’ – first single taken from the new album ‘Winds of the Cosmos’, set to be released on January 20th via Scarlet Records. Watch the video below.

Pre-orders: https://orcd.co/wotc

Born from the mountains of Colorado, Celestial Wizard is blazing new trails with their aggressive, powerful sound. Pulling from both power metal and death metal, they achieve a melodic, high intensity mix that hits just right.

Their sophomore album ‘Winds of the Cosmos’ showcases just that, as they deliver hard driving riffs paired with aggressive, death metal-styled vocals.

The songs cover everything from frosty ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ action to zombie apocalypses and the perils of outer space.

The band tactfully blends these stories with their own emotional charge, giving each track gravity and meaning beyond the initial themes.

‘Winds of the Cosmos’ is a metal monster in a league all its own!

  • produced and mixed by Nick Nodurft at Rusty Sun Audio
  • artwork by Dan Goldsworthy (Accept, Alestorm, Gloryhammer, Aborted)
  • guest appearance from Jake Jones (Aether Realm) on ‘Ice Realm’

CELESTIAL WIZARD is:
Amethyst Noir – vocals
Nick Daggers – guitar and vocals
William Perkins – guitar
Kyle Morgan – bass
Tim Gillman – drums

(‘Winds of the Cosmos’ featured Guillermo Jurado on guitar)
