SCREAM TAKER – Feat. Vinny Appice – Release Debut Album “Kill The Beautiful”

SCREAM TAKER is the brand-new outfit fronted  by Buffalo Music Hall of Fame vocalist Jim Crean (Appice Brothers), alongside French  guitarist Steph Honde (Paul Di’Anno, Hollywood Monster), and legendary drummer  Vinny Appice (Dio, Black Sabbath, Appice Brothers). The three musicians have created  a classic hard rock album in the vein of Dio, which is no surprise as Vinny Appice is one  of the founding members of the original Dio band. 

Scream Taker recorded the album during the pandemic and post Jim Crean’s short  lived tenure with former KISS guitarist Vinnie Vincent. Crean was to perform with  Vincent in his comeback performance alongside Carmine Appice (Ozzy Osbourne,  Vanilla Fudge, Appice Brothers) and Tony Franklin (the Firm, Blue Murder), which  unfortunately never materialized. Scream Taker is quickly getting noticed for its powerful combination of heavy riffs and soaring melodies, with offers already coming in for the band to take the show on the road in 2024.  

Scream Taker’s first single and video, “Stone Cold,” is out now. In Crean’s own words,  “[It] is about the King of the Vampires searching for his queen. Once the king has  chosen his bride, he must bite her and she becomes his queen, to forever serve the  master and oversee the undead. The husband of the queen relentlessly tries to rescue  her to no avail. The hero falls, brought down by the undead, and is left to roam for  eternity!” 

Kill the Beautiful unleashes twelve original songs including standout tracks “The Curse  of the Werewolf,” “Shattered Mirror,” and the title track, “Kill the Beautiful.” Guitarist Steph Honde comments, “Scream Taker goes back to the roots of hard rock: real  drums, real amps and no fxxxxxx auto tune. PLAY IT LOUD!” Vinny Appice continues,  “This record is a journey through the dark, loud, and heavy. It kicks ass!”

OBSIDIOUS Premiere New Song + Music Video ‘Lake of Afterlife’

Modern progressive metal outfit OBSIDIOUS is now premiering the official music video for their new song, “Lake of Afterlife,” which is taken from their upcoming debut album, ‘Iconic!’ The video, which gives an intimate behind-the-scenes glimpse of the making of ‘Iconic,’ can be found at THIS LOCATION.

OBSIDIOUS comments, “This song narrates, in first person, the experience of a person whose time has come, but who is being stopped by external factors. And this person just wants to go in peace, that he has accepted his fate and does not want to suffer. It is a situation we have often seen of denial on the part of relatives of a person who is being kept alive, prolonging the inevitable.”

GRIN Unleash Sludgy New Single ‘Apex’ from Upcoming Album

Nothing has changed yet everything is different when it comes to Phantom Knocks, a collection of eight shamanic desert rituals that emanate from the mysterious space between the supernatural and the extraterrestrial. Following their much acclaimed, second album Translucent Blades (2020), October 14, 2022 will see Berlin-based heavy psych doom duo GRIN, consisting of unshakeable power couple Jan and Sabine Oberg (Earth Ship, Slowshine), return with their forthcoming album!

The manic tribal beat of album opener “Transcendence”, comes rolling in like a psychic thunderstorm, extrapolating the collision of millions of tiny aqueous ions to the mighty thunder of Sabine Oberg’s bass, which continues to send seismic shockwaves throughout the rest of the album to leave you shaking on your feet. Meanwhile Jan Oberg’s clean voice and spectral grunts create a haze through which high pitched droning guitars fade in and out, like tones of supernatural frequencies cutting through the haze of reality. Phantom Knocks takes you on a rocking ride across shifting extraterrestrial desertscapes, while your spirit flies high above in a mystic transportation through the astral plane.

After previously-released album singles “Shiver”, “Transcendence” and just recently, “Arcane”, GRIN have now shared one of the most heaviest tracks of their record. Says the duo: “APEX is the fourth and final single from our forthcoming album “Phantom Knocks”, out October 14. In contrast to the first rather melodic, atmospheric single releases, APEX is one of the heavier, more brutal songs on the album, which should certainly please some fans of our first two records.”

The groundwork of GRIN’s trademark heavy drum and bass sound was already laid as early as their 2018 debut album Revenant, which is no surprise, since Jan and Sabine have been actively making heavy riff-laden tunes for over ten years. Translucent Blades in 2020 further solidified GRIN’s brand of sludgy psychedelic doom metal with the addition of high pitched guitar drones and eerie soundscapes. Again recorded in Jan Oberg’s own Hidden Planet Studio, Phantom Knocks has the same earth-shattering qualities as its predecessors, but is in every way more vivid and more powerful, aptly demonstrating how the Berliners have perfected their chemistry.

THE SADE Share Gloomy New Single ‘Sinner’

Italian Gothic/Death Rock outfit The Sade are gearing up for the release of the band’s brand new full-length record, entitled “Nocturna”, which will be coming out on October 28th via Go Down Records! 

In support of the upcoming album, the band has shared the gloomy new track “Sinner”. 

The Sade comments:

“The opening track of Nocturna declares the urge to return to life and sin using a tight beat. The feminine vision, that wanders like a ghost, becomes a sacred portrayal of this plenitude“.

“Nocturna” is a somber album, influenced by the pandemic situation of the last two years and it further increases the already dark style of The Sade. This work collects eclectic tracks composed between 2019 and 2020, which move far away from the rock’n’roll vibes of the early days, to turn into a new dark-wave and goth mood. 

The cover with the black rooster is emblematic, complex and represents the triumph of the “beast” in a pessimistic and nihilistic depiction of the human condition, which is now more fragile and guilty than ever. It is a visual recall to the Middle Ages as a time of darkness, dominated by ignorance and uncertainty, comparable to what we are experiencing today. The rooster is a symbol of passage between life and death, light and shadow, beginning and ending, fall and rebirth, unstable like the mood during recent lockdowns. It leads us on a musical journey into the deep darkness of this alienation: melancholic moments alternate with massive doses of synthetic sounds, with 80s and post-punk overtones.

Louisiana death metal trio FAUSTIAN have released their devastating second single, “Communion With Shadows,” now available on all major DSPs and YouTube. The band’s self-titled debut EP is dropping Oct. 7 via Black Lion Records.

“In the band’s opinion, ‘Communion With Shadows’ is definitely the meanest and most visceral track on the EP,” says vocalist and guitarist Dallas Smith.
