As Power/Progressive Metal band IMMORTAL GUARDIAN continues building their next opus, the group issues “Perfect Person” as the fourth sample of their new work. Recording independently and remotely the quartet is assembling the follow-up to 2021’s successful ‘Psychosomatic’ track-by-track and sharing the material as it completes, along with visually captivating music videos, that again the self-contained group produces themselves.

“Perfect Person” is available now for streaming/download at all digital platforms or watch the video below.

“I grew up in a very religious Mexican family. It was a big part of our lives, especially every Sunday morning when we went to church,” explains guitarist/keyboardist Gabriel Guardian. “But one day, our pastor had a heart attack while in the middle of a sexual act cheating on his wife and died right there in the church after-hours. It was absolutely bonkers and I remember it really stirred up the moral point-of-views in our tiny Texas town.We stopped going to church after that and really started questioning why we were there, to begin with. You see, some Christians had such a bad taste of the church that they left religion altogether and felt lied to and deceived, while others said the Christian thing to do would be to forgive him and move on and find another church. It was super interesting to grow up and watch both sides of this play out. This made a very interesting topic to write about and it definitely fueled the spark for ‘Perfect Person.’

At the end of the day, it is about NOT over-idolizing and over-glorifying religious figures, politicians, celebrities, even musicians, and the like. I wonder if that pastor had just lived his life and died a non-religious man, nobody would have been bothered, but because everyone sought this man’s advice every week, got baptized by him, got married by him, and put his words and lifestyle on a pedestal, it made it that much more devastating. Everyone can pin a local ‘icon’ in their minds as a perfect figure that could do no wrong and preach endless golden words when in fact, he is just a mortal man with mortal sin.”

Heavy topics are not unfamiliar to Immortal Guardian whose previous album focused on the Covid pandemic, likely the first full album to be thematically linked to the disease and its effect on the globe and its people. In the past year, Immortal Guardian has revealed three brand new songs — “Ozona,” “Echoes” and “Southern Rain” forming a basis for their next conceptual piece. The band will continue to share new material as the creative process proceeds to build up to a follow-up full-length traditional album planned for 2023. More info will be released by Immortal Guardian and M-Theory Audio in the weeks and months to follow, including new tour dates. https://www.facebook.com/igmetal/.

IMMORTAL GUARDIAN is:
Gabriel Guardian – guitars/keyboards
Carlos Zema – vocals
Justin Piedimonte – drums
Joshua Lopez – bass

HIGHWAY QUEEN Share Music Video for Title Track of New Album “Bitter Soul”, Out December 2022

Rockshots Records is proud to announce their signing of Finnish rockers HIGHWAY QUEEN for their debut full-length “Bitter Soul”, a collection of rock and metal songs with beautiful melodies, strong riffs with heavy drums and bass. Each song shows the listener the stylistic versatility of the band.

The album is due out on December 16th and follows their 2021 singles “Walls Are Burned”, “You Better Run” and “Hellfire” released via Inverse Records.

Songs on “Bitter Soul” are all about scenarios in one’s life.
The lyrics tell stories about the gnawing burden of shame, anger, and bitterness. They also talk about the burden that carries through generations. They are about people’s weaknesses too. The stories are also about overcoming these challenges.

“From our first self-releases and singles with Inverse Records to this album, our sound is definitely going from a lighter to heavier direction. Every song has its own mood so feeling vary throughout the album. There are parts in the album with bluesy vibes to parts that have strong doom or even thrash vibes. It all blends together with a touch of 80’s style. Every song on the record has its own mood.” adds the band.

Today, the band presents their first single and album title track with a music video, which can be viewed at:

SPOTIFY – https://bfan.link/bitter-soul-1

The band explains the song in further detail:

“We wanted to compose a very simple and blues-like song. We tossed around ideas and played and played until we got verse and chorus ready. Still, we weren’t pleased with the chorus. We had a session with the producer and we introduced the song to him. He also thought that it wasn’t ready yet. So we played the song and tried to think out of the box and the chorus came out. The guitar has a gloomy riff to give the song a darker shade. The bass came out to be strong together with simple and tight drums still giving some spice on its own. Bitter Soul tells about a woman who has lost her loved ones. Her soul has died. She regrets and mourns but she doesn’t know how she can change the things she has done.”

Highway Queen is a band that plays melodic hard rock with some metal influences. The band was founded at the end of 2019 by vocalist Virpi Kääriäinen, guitarist Teemu, Kääriäinen and drummer Henri Backman. All members have played in cover band projects in the past and decided it was time to start making their own creations.

In 2020, the band self-released four singles on digital platforms. Also in 2020, the band acquired bassist Petri Orava and they recorded more songs to be released. In 2021, the band signed with Finnish record label Inverse Records for releasing three singles and a music video. The songs had a great reception, and the band continued moving forward to start working on their first album. All Highway Queen songs are recorded with Aleksanteri Kuosa, so he was a natural choice to be the producer for the full-length. He has also worked with bands like Waltari and Before The Dawn.

Swedish Vikings GRIMNER Return with New Single ‘Hämtad av Valkyrior’

This is ‘Hämtad Av Valkyrior‘ (Retrieved By Valkyries) the third single from GRIMNER‘s upcoming album ‘Urfader‘. It tells of the occurence you have read above, when warrior’s are taken by the valkyries to the halls of Oden, to feast and brawl with ancestors and gods.

The song is pretty fast-paced and has a victorious and majestic feeling to it, but at the same time follows the Grimner tradition of keeping a bit of darkness lurking beneath. For who knows who will be worthy, and who will not? Enjoy!

Artwork by Henrik Rosenborg

Grimner about the new single:
“Those who fall in battle shall hear the sound of wings approaching, and after they have drawn their last breath, be resurrected and taken to halls of gold. The Allfather welcomes them to join the ranks of the Enhärjar, and to fight in the final war of the world.

“This single is probably as close to power metal as we will get, but make no mistake, this is Grimner through and through. We felt that the tone of this song perfectly conveys the feelings that the ancient warriors may have hoped for as they soared with the valkyries toward the giant gates of Valhall.”
// Grimner

Grimner returns with fire and power. Their roots and influences of Swedish death metal and their love of heavy and power metal is weaved together with enchanting folk melodies and pagan choirs to create their own unique sound once again – all sung in their native Swedish, as always.

‘Hämtad av Valkyrior’ (translated to ‘Retrieved By Valkyries’) will be Grimner‘s third single release of the fourth full-length album ‘Urfader‘. The crisp and fresh new sound of this album really makes you hear what Grimner all is about. Thrashing guitar riffs, the mix of powerful clean and harsh vocals, pounding drums, all mixed with beautiful and distinct flutes and other folk instruments make for an atmosphere that fits the tales of the old Norse gods and folklore alike. The single is released today October 21st.

More about Grimner:
Grimner, founded in 2008, shows that the past with few years of silence and pandemics hasn’t been for nothing – silence means working. In the wake of a plague, Grimner emerge battle-scarred to release new tunes and tales to the world, inspired as always by ancient nordic myths and history. At the same time, this album certainly brings something special to the genre.

It all started in the Swedish town Motala by lead guitarist and vocalist Ted together with the drummer Henry. The first demo “A Call For Battle” (2010) was sung explicitly in English but was soon to be replaced by their native tongue Swedish. As time progressed and new records being released (EP “Färd” (2012), acoustic EP “De Kom Från Norr” (2015), full-length album “Blodshymner” (2014), Grimner has steadily made a name for themselves. One example is being tour support for the legendary Korpiklaani during their shows in Sweden in 2015.

In 2016 Grimner released their praised album “Frost Mot Eld” (Despotz Records), an album that brought a totally new sound to the music community. The album received outstanding reviews world-wide, with songs that to this date have reached millions of streams. With the album and their fantastic overall concept, Grimner has been invited to perform at festival stages around Europe. In 2018 the band celebrated their 10th anniversary and releases a new full-length album ”Vanadrottning” (Despotz Records) on February 9th.

In support of their special tribute album, Final Days: Orden Ogan and Friends, which is out today on AFM Records, power metal maestros ORDEN OGAN have shared a music video for the brand new single and album opening track “December”!

While each song on Final Days: Orden Ogan and Friends, which is a tribute to the band’s latest 2021-album Final Days itself, is featuring high class guests such as, among others, Stu Block (Iced Earth, Annihilator), Peavy Wagner (Rage), Andy B. Franck (Brainstorm), Chris Boltendahl (Grave Digger), Elina Siirala (Leaves’ Eyes), Leif Jensen, Ross Thompson (Van Canto), Dennis Diehl (Any Given Day), (Ross The Boss) or Frank Beck (Gamma Ray), “December” is not only a new ORDEN OGAN track, but also sang by band mastermind Sebastian “Seeb” Levermann only.

Seeb comments:
“”Final Days” is a record about various scenarios how the world could end. “December“ is a song about a genetically modified killer virus that was somehow released and kills (almost?) every human being on planet earth, while civilizations and societies collapse.

The song was written in 2019, long before the Corona Pandemic startet. We decided to not put this track on the album out of respect for the victims of the pandemic. Now the world looks different than in 2020. We felt it was about time to finally release the track. Enjoy!”

Final Days: Orden Ogan and Friends combines finesse with huge riffs, clever arrangements with great melodies and even after the umpteenth spin you still discover something new, especially thanks to its larger-than-ife production and the incredible, various guest features, this is ORDEN OGAN as you have never heard them before!

Out now via AFM Records, Final Days: Orden Ogan and Friends is available at THIS LOCATION!

Finnish heavy metallers OCEANHOARSE, who recently completed an extensive European tour with Swedish prog metal masters Soen, will release their brand new album “Heads Will Roll” on February 17, 2023 via Noble Demon. After the band already stirred things up with their debut studio album “Dead Reckoning” (2021), the band’s sophomore album seamlessly picks up where its predecessor left off and even goes one step further! In support of the upcoming full-length record, Oceanhoarse have unleashed the track “Help Is On The Way”, streaming here:

Vocalist Joonas Kosonen comments:

“‘Help is on the way’ is a perfect showcase on where we are musically right now. Having the strong backround of the more thrashier verses mixed in with the melodic choruses and solos. This tune gives out in one package what you can expect from the upcoming album.“

Furthermore, he reflects on Oceanhoarse‘s recent journey with Soen and what the future holds for the band: “The tour with Soen this fall showed us what we are able to achieve in big venues and with larger crowds. This gave us a glimpse of where we are going with our show and that there’s very little limits on what we can achieve with this group and our music. We’re hungrier than ever, so let’s fucking go!“

Tracklist reads as follows:

  1. Fall Like Dominoes
  2. Help Is On The Way
  3. Pryopen
  4. Brick
  5. Smoke Signals
  6. Waves
  7. Dead Zone
  8. Heads Will Roll
  9. Adrift
  10. Nails
  11. Carved in Stone

While “Help Is On The Way” already gives a profound insight into the diverse and energetic soundscapes of Oceanhoarse, the band’s very own Hoarsefest offers another opportunity to look forward to the upcoming album! Hoarsefest, a festival currated by the band, will take place on December 30th at On the Rocks in Helsinki, Finland. More information can be found at THIS LOCATION and tickets are available HERE.

“Hoarsefest will be the perfect showcase on where the underground scene of rock and metal is right now. And watching the lineup this year I can only say it’s very alive and kicking. If you wanna see the best of what’s about to hit your playlists in the future, you’d better check out Hoarsefest 2022!” Joonas Kosonen comments.

“Heads Will Roll” will be coming out on February 17 and is now available for pre-order HERE
