Former QUIET RIOT Bassist CHUCK WRIGHT Shares New Video for ‘Giving Up The Ghost’

Today, multi-platinum, bassist/producer and genre-bending recording artist CHUCK WRIGHT released his third and latest single, “Giving Up The Ghost” from his award-winning debut solo album “Chuck Wright’s Sheltering Sky.” The song is the follow-up to his most recent single “Throwin’ Stones,” an anti-war messaged funk rock piece which along with the full album, has amassed rave reviews.

“Giving Up The Ghost” is a poignant, atmospheric, groove-laden, ballad that draws on personal moments creating an emotional and raw experience for listeners. Written by Wright and co-produced with film composer, Tim Janssens, “Giving Up The Ghost” features the sultry smooth vocals of Indi artist Whitney Tai. Wright also brought in Rod Stewart/ Billy Idol drummer Tal Bergman, jazz/fusion great Allen Hinds to play lead guitar, Flamenco guitarist Luis Villegas, contemporary jazz/prog keyboardist Ed Roth (known for his work with the Keith Emerson Band and The Doors’ Robby Krieger), Macy Gray percussionist Scott Breadman, and guitarist/ producer Tom Hatziemanouel. Wright plays fretless bass and acoustic guitars while Tim Janssens created the string orchestrations and soundscapes.

The accompanying video was filmed at Strawhorse recording studios in Van Nuys, California. Vocalist Whitney Tai falls into a dream state while reading in the control room, creating a haunting visual narrative as the musicians play on. The hourglass spent centuries as the representation of mortality and plays a key role here reminding us to let go of the past and move on, hence the title, “Giving Up The Ghost”.

The full album from Chuck Wright’s Sheltering Sky was released on May 20, 2022 on Cleopatra Records. It features over 40 guest performers including members of Mr. Big, Skid Row, Tesla, Dream Theater, Jane’s Addiction, Asia, Jefferson Starship, Journey, acclaimed solo artists Allen Hinds, Toshi Yanagi, Whitney Tai and many others. It covers a wide range of genres, from Jazz Fusion, Prog, Funk, to in-your-face Hard Rock, and is widely available on CD and all digital platforms.

Odium Records announces signing the new, unique Swedish band HILD. It’s the new band of Lars Broddesson, known as ex drummer of Marduk and session drummer of Funeral Mist and Black Altar. Debut album ValFreiya is going to be released on October 7th as a 6 panels digi pack and contains 12 songs of violent Thrash metal with Black and Crust influences. The band is deeply influenced by the Nordic mythology and Mysticism.

Lars Broddesson about HILD and the album ValFreiya:
“HILD, meaning battle/strife, is a war and battle themed project centered around the Valkyries of Nordic mythology. Each song named after, and honoring, a specific Valkyrie, channeling their respective traits.

HILD came to life in a flash one late summer evening while walking entranced through the landscape. I was instructed by my higher powers to head back to my studio and complete a 2-minutes song in one session.

The aim was to do so as Thrash Metal under the banner of HILD, a band name I´d had in the back of my head for some time.

The divine spark of inspiration hit immediately and I had most of the song and entire concept ready in my head before I was back at the studio to record. The song, ValFreiya, Took 5 hours roughly.

I got a taste for it and decided to keep it going and not let any song be longer than 2:30 or take more than 6-7 hours to complete. A few weeks later I had 12 songs, an album, finished barely knowing what happened.”

Canadian Prog Hammer OSYRON Release New Video + Single ‘Dominion Day’

Canadas metal hope is back: After releasing their critically acclaimed EP Foundations as well as a polished re-issue of their beloved effort Kingsbane, OSYRON herald a new era with their latest single DOMINION DAY.

Beautifully blending the versatile edges of both clean, almost siren-like, and growling vocals, the renowned collective from the heart of Canada once again impressively proves their capability of thoughtfully planting straight-up hits with vivid characteristics into complex, symphonic soundscapes – while never losing their roots in the progressive fields of metal music.

Osyron have never backed out from the conflict-guarded past of their heritage, which they have already dealt with on their 2020 release Foundations. The EP’s blend of heaviness, soul and deep atmosphere fitted the band’s aspiration to delve into sensitive topics of Canadian culture, telling “the story of those who have been ignored for too long” – from Canadian troops in WW1 to the assimilation of the First Nations.

Therefore, it is no surprise that Osyron keep on unwrapping the hardship of everyones past that emerges in the very current day: “Dominion Day deals with the celebration of events gone by, and what we still celebrate without knowing the implications that go with these events or the outcomes that are a byproduct of them”.
Not only their topics, but also their music has been ever-evolving since Osyrons forming: massive layered sections, luscious hooks and stuff that’s been composed to break fingers on fretboards. The big difference lies in a sharpened focus. Everything about each of their recent compositions is meant to drill into the mind of the listener with no intention to leave. Blending symphonic and progressive elements, Osyron are back on the map to stay – as they have proven to be one of Canadas biggest metal hopes throughout the past years. Dominion Day by Osyron is out now on all channels.

This project is funded in part by FACTOR, the Government of Canada and Canada’s private radio broadcasters.

‘I Hate Waiting’ is the latest single from Canadian synth rockers, KING BULL and is available on digital platforms via Riot Records. ‘I Hate Waiting’ comes off the bands upcoming new EP Conflicting Opinions on Mold and Bacteria which will be released digitally on September 9th and is available for pre-save/pre-order/pre-add now.

Stream/buy ‘I Hate Waiting’ HERE

King Bull’s hot new single ‘I Hate Waiting’ sizzles like spam on a pan. The song itself is trans-fat and cholesterol free, but it might still give you a heart attack. It’s about impatience and bulging veins. Those with pacemakers are advised to listen with caution.

Hell bent on making a record that would upset folks in the FM radio industry, King Bull haphazardly put together what is undoubtedly the best EP of 2022 which is titled Conflicting Opinions on Mold and Bacteria. Fancy recording studios and high budgets were scrapped in favour of a dank mildew filled basement with a tendency to flood when a hose happy French Canadian over waters spruce trees for no reason. If you’re sick of the highly polished overproduced rubbish that everyone’s putting out nowadays, you should give this a shot.

Conflicting Opinions on Mold and Bacteria – Tracklisting
1. Don’t Want You to Know
2. Never Seen You Smile
3. Cigarette
4. Scary (feat. Ryan Kuly)
5. I Hate Waiting

King Bull began to really build a name for themselves globally with the release of their 2020 EP What Happened Here which was described as ‘’Sonically cohesive throughout, featuring snarling guitars, growling bass, thunderous drums and vocals that sound similar to a jet engine that isn’t working properly.’’ You get the drift. King Bull continue to develop their already sophisticated yet eclectic sound in 2022.
