Drummer Tobias Schuler of German black metal experimentalists DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT is now sharing a play-through video for the song “Morgen,” which is taken from the band’s critically-acclaimed new album, ‘Noktvrn!’ The clip, which was taken during the band’s recent performance at Party.San Metal Open Air 2022, can be seen at THIS LOCATION.
‘Noktvrn’ was released in November 2021 and cracked the Billboard Charts for the first time ever! In the U.S., the band landed the Current Hard Rock Music Albums (#27) and Top New Artist Albums (#30) while in Germany, the band made the Offizielle Deutsche Charts (official German charts) (#34). “Our aim is to showcase women’s talents and fill the gaps in which women are underrepresented in metal. The ambitious model has so far resulted in twenty singles/video releases, spanning metal subgenres, and featuring thirty-five musicians from eighteen countries, including some of the biggest names in metal (eg. Britta Goertz – Critical Mess/Hiraes; Luana Dametto – Crypta/Nervosa; Silvia Pistolesi – Sudden Death). For a long time people had been asking ‘When will the Chaos Rising album be out?’ and we finally decided to release this showcase of all our work so far. The Singles is a double album, with one brutal LP and one melodic LP – this makes it a completely unique concept that demonstrates the evolution of our sound and the richness of metal music. Thanks to a successful crowdfunding campaign, we have been able to produce a limited edition double CD digipack which will be available from our Bandcamp page, and the album will of course also be available digitally via all major channels.” – Chaos Rising
Formed in 2019 by French multi-instrumentalist Stéphanie Nolf (Unsafe, Syrinx), CHAOS RISING is a collaborative international metal music project composed of women from all over the world who play, create, and share new songs in different metal styles. In a collaborative and inclusive spirit, Chaos Rising welcomes, encourages, and invites every female artist interested in metal music to be involved in any kind of aspect of CR music and project. Women are welcome to join by either playing, recording, designing album art, writing lyrics, working with album production or promotion.

Remaining members of the Steve Grimmett‘s GRIM REAPER band, will play a special tribute show at this year’s KEEP IT TRUE RISING festival, that will take place in Wuerzburg, Germany from September 30 to October 2. The band will be joined by Steve’s son Russ Grimmett, who will sing few of his father’s songs, the JAG PANZER and TITAN FORCE singer Harry Conklin, and other guest singers. Joining the band will be also the original GRIM REAPER guitarist and founder, Nick Bowcott. Except that festival organizers will produce and give away for free 2000 buttons with Steve Grimmet, and will produce special tribute t-shirt, with all proceeds to be given to Steve’s family. Steve Grimmett passed away earlier this month at the age of 62.
This year’s edition of the KEEP IT TRUE RISING FESTIVAL will be headlined by SAXON and VENOM INC., and the line up will be completed by other New Wave Of British Heavy Metal acts such as DIAMOND HEAD, PAUL DI’ANNO’s band, BLITZKRIEG, AVENGER, SARACEN, SATAN, QUARTZ, CLOVEN HOOF, HOLOCAUST, DEMON PACT, TYTAN and MYTHRA. Also appearing will be legendary American band RIOT V, and several young bands such as RIOT CITY or KONQUEST.

Brazil’s groundbreaking thunder metal band Guardian of Lightning are back with a new music video for the song “Sound of Thunder”, directed by Victor Yuri and Iron King, and a reissue of their debut album Cosmos Tree remastered by Billy Stull (Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Peter Cris).
“Sound of Thunder” is the third music video from the band’s debut full-length album Cosmos Tree (Remastered), which was just re-released worldwide on August 23, 2022 via Eclipse Records. “Natives are living in peace with their faith when the Gang of Gold leader arrives to bring chaos to their world,” says lead bass guitarist Iron King. “The Gang of Gold soon find out that in the native’s sacred place lives the most powerful elder of the earth who immediately awakens the thunderbird to protect them. The song is inspired by the Native American legend of the thunderbird that is a kind of Guardian to save people from suffering and injustice. The meaning of the story is that it doesn’t matter how difficult the challenges we face nowadays are, because with faith we will always overcome them! It’s a song meant to inspire people to become strong and to know that there is always a guardian to protect us, even on most difficult days.”
Cosmos Tree (Remastered) is the newly remastered debut album from Brazil’s thunder metal band. The band’s unique sound is a fresh take on the metal genre, replacing the typical lead guitar role with that of an ultra-heavy thundering electric bass. The album was originally produced by Eurico Tavares at Stage Record Power Audio Studio and it was recently remastered by the legendary Billy Stull (Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Peter Cris). The album also has new cover art by Gerson Watanuki. With the very start of this album it’s evident that the electric bass is front and center, but the songs themselves are something magical as well. Highlights on the album include the first single (and title track) “Cosmos Tree” which is about the existence of humanity being the fruit of something higher. “Raise Your Sword” is a message of inspiration to suffering souls.
