A quick search online about the word “age” will show you a variety of expressions commonly used. The first and probably the most used one is “coming of age”, which refers to reaching adulthood or a certain level of maturity. On their 33rd year of career, French death/thrash metal veterans NO RETURN have already passed the “coming of age” phase. But that doesn’t mean they have stagnate, settle down or rest on their laurels. In fact, quite the contrary.

Welcome to the new chapter of No Return, one of the most well-known and oldest metal bands in France. The death/thrash machine is back with “Requiem”, their eleventh studio album and, very likely, their heavier and most savage work to this date. In fact, the Parisian five-piece presents itself with a renewed sound, sporting a new level of intensity, melody and heaviness. In a nutshell, it’s No Return on steroids.

“Requiem” will be released on digital, CD, and LP (red/black vinyl, limited to 300 units) via Mighty Music on October 21st, 2022.. Pre-orders available here.

Tracklist:

  1. The Only One
  2. Killing Machines
  3. Affliction
  4. No Apologies
  5. Nobody Cares About You
  6. Unscarred
  7. Survival Instinct
  8. Lies
  9. The Podium Of Truths
  10. The Black Wolfs Kingdom

No Return formation dates back to 1989 and soon it became a trademark of the European melodic death/thrash metal scene. The band recorded its first album “Psychological Torment” in Germany with Coroner’s drummer and Marky Marquis as art director and went to produce the second album, “Contamination Rises” at Morrisound’s Studios in Tampa, Florida, with the help of Tom Morris. All this within three years of career.

Ever since, No Return has kept on sharing its passion for metal music, performing alongside bands such as Arch Enemy, Samael, Napalm Death, Sepultura, Coroner, Motörhead, and many others, all while regularly releasing new albums. In 2019, underlining 30 years as a band, the French collective played several dates of an exceptional set-list of their career. The year 2020 brought vocalist Steeve’s comeback (he recorded “Self Mutilation”, and “Machinery” in 2000 and 2002, respectively). In addition to the release of the live album “Live XXX”, the band started working on their new studio record, “Requiem”, which is now finally set to be released.

Lineup:
Alain Clément: guitars
Steeve “Zuul” Petit: vocals
David Barbosa: bass

CATALYST Announce New Album “A Different Painting For A New World”, Out October 14th

Recently French technical death metallers CATALYST announced their signing with one of the most passionate labels in the extreme metal, Non Serviam Records.

The band has just unveiled the first details of their hugely anticipated second album “A Different Painting For A New World”, to be released as digipak CD, 2LP gatefold and digital on October 14th 2022 through Non Serviam Records. The pre-orders of the new album are available here: CD – VINYL – BANDCAMP.

“A Different Painting For A New World”, which was produced by HK Krauss at Vamacara Studio (Loudblast, Sinsaneum, Dagoba, among others), brings you to enigmatic field of brutality and epicness.

The original story of “the Catalyst”, vital core character of the band’s concept, is being carried through these 10 brand new tracks. As a “concept band”, CATALYST tells an original story of a universe brought to life by 9 Lords, originally protecting its integrity, but now corrupted by the almighty Creator. In this new chapter, the Catalyst now needs to purify that world, contaminated by the Creator’s madness and chaos. It tells the birth of a better world through destruction, but also about the battle of two entities fighting for different beliefs.

The stunning artwork was created by the French visionary Above Chaos (Meshuggah, Moonsorrow, etc.).

“The new album is well on its way to be released, and will hit much harder than the first one did. The work we’ve put into it will strike your ears with ferocious and overwhelming brutality, and we’re more than ready to hit stages to show how much of a banger this is going to be when played live! It was a lot of work to create this full hour of intense music, it took us several years to get to this point. The release for this album was delayed two times, so it was really hard for us to wait until the release. But now we are ready! We are very proud of the result, it’s a complex yet quite accessible album”, comments the mastermind Jules Kicka.

“A Different Painting For A New World” Track Listing:
1. Gathering Of New Forces
2. To Unleash Thy Heinous Fate
3. The Last Warning
4. Worms and Locusts
5. Arise Of The Anathema
6. Paragon Of Devastation
7. Behold Thy Purification
8. Peripeteia
9. The Catalyst’s End
10. A Different Painting For A New World

The first taste of the new album will be available on August 16th.

Founded in 2017 by Jules Kicka, CATALYST is a 4-piece death metal act from France, dragging the old-school sound forward to open it up to a more contemporary, technical and progressive shade, apart from its kind.
After a well-received debut EP “Dawn Of A Dreadful Fate” (2017) and the critically acclaimed album “The Great Purpose Of The Lords” (2019), CATALYST are now ready to unleash their devastating sophomore album on October 14th 2022.

CATALYST are
Jefferson Brand – Bass / Back vocals
Jules Kicka – Guitar / Vocals
Stéphane Petit – Drums / Back vocals
Florian Iochem – Guitar / Back vocals

PURPENDICULAR feat. Ian Paice have released the official lyric video for “Human Mechanic”. The song is the first single and title track of the upcoming new studio album which will be released on September 23rd by Metalville Records.

PURPENDICULAR’s success story is amazing. In their first year on tour, the band already completed a short European tour with Deep Purple drummer Ian Paice.

Over the years PURPENDICULAR have collaborated with such great musicians as Roger Glover, Tony Carey, Paul Morris and also Neil Murray.

Musically, “Human Mechanic” offers the typical Ian Paice grooves and funky bass lines, but without neglecting the heavy hard rock sound.

You won’t find a copy of Deep Purple here, but you will find many different musical influences. But nevertheless: Hammonds and guitars still stand out strongly.

THE NEW ROSES are back with their fifth studio album Sweet Poison, to be released on October 21, 2022 via Napalm Records! After their previous record, Nothing But Wild, hit the Top 10 on the German album charts, the quartet went on to share stages with rock legends like the Scorpions, Saxon and Accept. This summer, they even had the chance to tour with genre giants KISS and were the first German band invited to KISS Kruise! Sweet Poison bottles this potent energy on record, convincing with authentic hard rock and enormous hit density. THE NEW ROSES are on the way to the top of rock!

Get a taste of Sweet Poison with the first single “The Usual Suspects”, straight off the new album. Let the catchy chorus take you on an unforgettable ride on the highway of rock, while frontman Timmy Rough’s voice catapults you to new spheres. The amazing live performance shown in the official music video is just a glimpse of their latest touring experience – convince yourself and dive into the world of THE NEW ROSES.

THE NEW ROSES on the new single:
“’The Usual Suspects’ was one of the first songs we recorded for Sweet Poison and kind of paved the way for all the songs that came after that. We all realized that we don’t wanna write about the disappointments and struggles we had to deal with during all these lockdowns and being banned from the stage. No, ‘The Usual Suspects’ made us look ahead, It helped not to forget what and who we are: A damn Rock’n’Roll band! The title says it all: We’re the usual suspects and our fans are the usual suspects. We haven’t changed, we’re not bitter. We’ll be back on the road and we keep on rocking right where we had to stop…“

Their latest effort, Sweet Poison, opens with the guitar-driven anthem “My Kinda Crazy,” which kicks off the album in a worthy manner. In addition to rousing anthems, Sweet Poison features authentically rocking Americana tracks like “Playing With Fire” and “Sweet Gloria.”“Warpaint” is undoubtedly a massive track in which the band unleashes its intangible energy with hard guitar riffs and powerful drums, while “The Usual Suspects” and “1st Time For Everything” impress with their catchy choruses. Tracks like “Dead Of Night” build on a distinct melody and develop into strong stadium rock anthems. With songs like “All I Ever Needed”, THE NEW ROSES also show their softer side. The strong mid-tempo rock ballad revives the atmosphere of Guns N’ Roses’ moving ballads, while front man Timmy Rough passionately presents the full range of his voice, which can also be heard impressively on the touching acoustic track “True Love“.

Sweet Poison is an outstanding rock album with an impressive hit density, seeing the band outdo themselves again and again, reviving true 80s rock. Hold on tight, because THE NEW ROSES shift up a gear and take you on a journey to the horizon of American rock grandeur!

Timmy Rough on the new album:
“When we recorded Sweet Poison, we took all the bad vibes, all our struggle and disappointments of the last two years and turned them into this incredibly positive, high energy Rock n’ Roll album. We don’t bitch at all, we wanna move forward and take our audience along with us. We stayed on our musical path, in fact I’d say we even went back closer to our roots and added some more of our Blues and Southern spirit while still keeping the catchy melodies of our last records. But hey, talk is cheap, so turn it up and have some fun!“

CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX Premiere New Song ‘Bonefire’

Progressive rock collective CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX will be releasing a brand new album, ‘Banefyre,’ on September 9 via Season of Mist! The band is now sharing the third new single from the offering, “Bonefire,” which can be heard at THIS LOCATION.

Singer/percussionist Belinda Kordic explains, “‘Bonefire’ is targeted at the politicians, who’re some of the wealthiest people around, and also the most un-empathetic sons of bitches towards the poorest and most vulnerable in our society. These people in government have the power to change things around, make a difference, but they choose not to. It’s an ideological choice they make. The bottom line is.. these people just don’t give a hoot about anything but themselves. They are not all bad. But there sure are some rotten eggs. Chuck em on a fire of bones and let them contemplate on their actions for a while.

“Ps! No politicians were hurt during the making of this song.”

Mastermind Justin Greaves adds, “This song makes so much sense to me. When Belinda told me what it’s about and sent me the lyrics, i saw how pissed off she is at the way things are with the ruling class. And so am I. And so are a lot of people. I mean, the song was written two years ago, and it was bad then, but now, especially here in the UK it has reached a new low when it comes to the massive class divide and the utter contempt the dumb government scumbags show to people. The people who are supposed to be taken care of. I personally think we should burn the whole damn political system down. Throw the politicians on the fire and cleanse the energy of the world.”

Pre-orders for ‘Banefyre’ are now live HERE while the album can be pre-saved across digital streaming services HERE.
