PHOBOPHILIC Premiere New Single + Music Video ‘Nauseating Despair’

PHOBOPHILIC are today premiering their new single and music video Nauseating Despair via Decibel. Nauseating Despair is the second track to be taken from their forthcoming debut album, Enveloping Absurdity, set to be released via Prosthetic Records on September 16 and sees the death metal group continue to explore philosophical schools of absurdism and existentialism.

WATCH THE MUSIC VIDEO FOR NAUSEATING DESPAIR VIA DECIBEL HERE.

Nauseating Despair is now available on all streaming platforms.
Pre-orders for Enveloping Absurdity are available here.

Speaking on the track and music video premiere, the band comments: “Nauseating Despair is one of, if not the song we’re most proud of on the record and is the best representation of the album as a whole. It’s about a sudden and extreme self awareness Sartre describes as “nausea”. Once you’ve made this realization about the absurdity of life, there is no going back; it’s truly horrifying. In the video, we wanted to express this feeling and the jarring transition toward a state of acceptance through the frantic editing style which continues to build in intensity until the final moments of the song.”

Formed in 2016, PHOBOPHLIC have steadily accumulated early releases in the shape of two demos, 2019’s Undimensioned Identities EP and a split release with Canada’s Sedimentum, all the while honing their craft out across the North American touring circuit – featuring live stints with Gatecreeper and Mutilatred respectively, as well as appearances at LDB Fest and Philadelphia Death Nexus – positioning themselves among US death metals most intriguing young acts.

Following their early productivity both in studio and on the road, PHOBOPHILIC pulled together to shape Enveloping Absurdity’s eight songs into existence. Shunning the fantastical in favour of lived human reality, the band opted to center their gaze on what it is to exist. Drawing from French writers Albert Camus and Jean-Paul Sartre as well as Germany’s Fredrich Nietzche’s strains of philosophical thought, Enveloping Absurdity is a meticulous vivisection of the philosophical self and purpose, as it asks fundamental questions of life’s true meaning.

PHOBOPHILIC’s formative promise is fully captured with a stellar production job that retains their to-the-bone intensity, but allows room for the underlying grandiosity of their compositions, thanks to Adam Tucker at Signaturetone Recording in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The artwork was then licensed from Finnish illustrator Joonas Räsänen at EvM Art, as the band sought to marry Enveloping Absurdity’s overarching thematic ponderance with aesthetic totality.

On their debut long player PHOBOPHILIC rebel against notions of defeat and pessimism, in spite of the struggles that come with an overabundance of consciousness, to a profound embrace of that which ails as well as thrills. At the beating heart of Enveloping Absurdity’s sonic extremity is a victory of the self, not content with simply surviving, but choosing to live.

Enveloping Absurdity tracklist:
1. Enantiodromia
2. Those Which Stare Back
3. Nauseating Despair
4. Cathedrals of Blood (Twilight of the Idols)
5. Individuation
6. The Illusion of Self
7. Survive in Obscurity
8. Enveloping Absurdity

Bay area thrash metal giants TESTAMENT unleashed their highly acclaimed thirteenth studio album, Titans Of Creation, via Nuclear Blast in 2020.

Today, TESTAMENT is proud to announce they will release a Titans Of Creation Video Album on September 9th via Nuclear Blast Records. The limited-edition collectible features performance videos of all the tracks on the record. The footage was compiled at a soundstage in San Francisco and was edited into music video-style clips that will be available on Blu-Ray accompanying the CD with bonus photos and liner notes plus a button and sticker in a longbox. Staying true to the record, the performances feature Gene Hoglan behind the kit! This version will be limited to 6,500 units worldwide.

In celebration of the news, the band releases the music video for the track “Curse Of Osiris” which can be seen here:

Chuck Billy comments, “I’m very excited and proud to release the video play through for the Titans of Creation album. We were fortunate enough to have Gene Hoglan on drums before his departure. Now fans can watch us play the entire album in their homes with friends and start their own mosh pit in their living rooms.”

Eric Peterson comments, “We are pleased to announce something we have always wanted to do! A performance video for each song on our latest release Titans Of Creation. It almost didn’t happen as we got the news from Gene that he was going to go his separate way, but we left on a good note and we agreed that we should nail this last idea I think it came out really killer & can’t wait for everybody to see it! We kept it simple, and added a couple of visual elements on some songs for a certain vibe of the song, overall great to listen to and watch us jam these new killer songs! Looking forward to doing it again on the next record too!”

CULT OF LILITH will be touring in support of their debut full-length, Mara, released in 2020 via Metal Blade Records. A frantic collision of death metal, prog, complex classical structures, and more, Mara is a restless, constantly shifting collection that is as imaginative as it is compulsive. No Clean Singing crowned Mara, “one of the absolute best death metal albums of the entire year,” hailing the band’s seamless fusion of, “Soreption-like machine precision, Black Dahlia Murder-styled neoclassical melody, and Revocation’s tendency toward big, imperial, yet technical fusion-esque ideation.” Distorted Sound agreed, “Mara is a deeply-layered album that is rich in flavor, character, and a potency for sheer aural destruction.” Angry Metal Guy championed, “a talented bunch, with excellent performances all around,” noting, “The sheer amount of musical variety is highly entertaining, and the band is great at keeping you guessing.” Added Louder Sound, “CULT OF LILITH deserves credit for sculpting an exquisite piece of modern extremity, putting it in a straightjacket and detonating it with Acme dynamite.”
