Canada’s TYRANTS OF CHAOS have been pillaging across Alberta with their old-school classic heavy metal and are now amping up the ante with 10 new bangers on their third studio album “Relentless Thirst for Power” set to be unleashed this month.
The band released their first single ‘T.O.C.‘ in July and have now shared their second track off the record to preview to fans. Entitled ‘Slay the Hostages‘, Tyrants of Chaos present a Judas Priest style, ear piercing, balls-out metal assault. Lyrically similar to ‘T.O.C.‘, ‘Slay the Hostages’ sounds like a song about committing crimes and sacrifices, but it is simply about playing metal shows and entertaining the crowd as can be witnessed in the music video. Check it out below:
Tyrants of Chaos‘new album “Relentless Thirst For Power” covers a lot of topics lyrically, listeners will be able to dive into songs such as the classic Teutonic power metal track ‘Indoctri-Nation’, which focuses on mental health issues to the ‘No Lives Matter’ ballad that forces one to confront their mortality; and the classic ‘Lucky Dog’ that is reminiscent of the 80s sounds of the Big 4.
Formed in 2013 for the love and passion of music by guitarist Curtiss Vaselenak and to fill a gap in the local scene, the band originally started as a fun hard rock and metal cover band. After some shuffling, he is now joined by guitarist Arik Wagner, bassist Sean Simpson, drummer Ryan Dyck, and vocalist Phil Sirias who complete the current lineup. With many years of experience between them, they bring professionalism and solid musicianship to both the stage and the studio.
Tyrants of Chaos already have two albums under their belts, “The Calm Before The Storm” (2016) and “Into Oblivion” (2019), and this new offering consists of ten fist-pumping, head-banging tracks that were written specifically for this album. It is just scratching the surface of what the band has in store, they don’t intend to slow down anytime soon.
Heavy and loud, Tyrants Of Chaos delivers a solid pummeling of pure heavy metal. No gimmicks, no gags, just passion, and honesty. They are recommended listening for fans of Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and Megadeth.
The album “Relentless Thirst For Power” will be out on August 19, 2022.

“There was one day when I was playing along with the Deuce album which was a complete turning point for me as a guitar player.” – Johnny Marr
Released in November 1971, just six months after his eponymous solo debut, Rory Gallagher’s second album, Deuce, was the summation of all that he’d promised in the wake of Taste’s collapse. Rory wanted to capture the feeling of a live performance, so he would look to record immediately after live concerts while keeping production to a minimum.
He chose Tangerine Studios, a small reggae studio, in Dalston in East London, due it’s history with legendary producer Joe Meek. With Gerry McAvoy on bass guitar and Wilgar Campbell on drums, the album was engineered by Robin Sylvester and produced by Rory. Deuce features many Rory highlights, from the blistering Crest Of A Wave to the Celtic-infused I’m Not Awake Yet.
When asked “How does it feel to be the best guitarist in the world,” Jimi replied: “I don’t know, why don’t you go and ask Rory Gallagher.” – Jimi Hendrix
“There are a million guys who sound like Stevie Ray Vaughan, but I never heard anybody who could really pull off sounding like Rory Gallagher.” – Slash
” As soon as I heard Cradle Rock, I was hooked. I thought, ‘This is what I want to be when I grow up.” – Joe Bonamassa
“I really liked Rory, he was fine guitarist and singer and lovely man.” – Jimmy Page
“He was just a magician, he’s one of the very few people of that time who could make his guitar do anything it seemed. It just seemed to be magic. I remember looking at that battered Stratocaster and thinking how does that come out of there?” – Brian May
“The man who changed my musical life was Rory Gallagher, I picked up a guitar because of him.” – Johnny Marr
“A beautiful man and an amazing guitar player. He was a very sensitive man and a great musician.” – The Edge
“An amazing player, very spirited… he had a particular sound using that Stratocaster and he really got it because of the brute force in the way that he played, he just had such a passion about it.” – Joe Satriani

THE MILK MEN’s new single Cheap Seats was released yesterday, Friday August 5th. One of the most talked-about bands on the UK’s live circuit, the single is taken from their much-anticipated fourth album, Spin The Bottle, released on September 9th via www.themilkmenmusic.com.
Cheap Seats is the second song to be released as single from Spin The Bottle, following the R’n’B stylings of the previous single Go Go Baby. Stream and buy the Cheap Seatshere.
Cheap Seats is a classic example of The Milk Men’s ability to combine hooks, guitar riffs, and an irresistible groove. Watch the official music video for Cheap Seatshere.
As guitarist Adam Norsworthy says: “I had a couple of riffs knocking about for a while and thought they might make two decent songs, but when I sat down with Jamie Smy (The Milk Men’s lead singer) to write it, it was obvious that they should go together in the same song. We started piecing it together and Jamie already seemed to have a title, and a lyrical idea in his head. With Cheap Seats, he was singing all sorts of great ideas, and, once we had the structure, he just took it away and wrote some great lyrics.”
Jamie explains: “I had the title knocking around for quite a while and Adam and I started writing the song around the it which isn’t usually how we work. It’s got a very ZZ Top feel to it but with a good dollop of Neil Young in there too. The subject matter is pure blues. A man feeling very sorry for himself, bemoaning his bad luck and the fact that he was born with a plastic spoon in his mouth. However, as hard as he tries, he can’t get a break and he’s stuck in a rut. Despite all the doom and gloom, he’s optimistic about the future. He’s got a friend who will sort him out. The sun will come out tomorrow.”
Adam continues: “Once we got in the studio and started playing it as a band it was so much fun – Mike and Lloyd got the idea and the feel immediately and it really grooves! We all love Stevie Wonder so I couldn’t resist sticking a clavinet over some sections as a nod to Superstition. I think it’s a tricky song to listen to without tapping a toe!”
The Milk Men, who have made three previous, highly acclaimed albums recorded in the picturesque Surrey countryside at Masterlink Studio. The band enlisted the talents of blues rock production legend Wayne Proctor, who has worked with a dazzling array of well-known names from the UK’s music scene, including King King, Ben Poole, and British rock legend Ray Davies from The Kinks.
Proctor co-produced the album with Adam Norsworthy. This team was a match made in heaven, and one that has made a number of critically acclaimed albums together.
The band’s previous album, Deliverance, was released just as the COVID lockdown was enforced, so the band was unable to tour the songs as planned. Instead, they set about building their fan base with videos and single releases that saw their online following increase ten-fold. As a result, Spin The Bottle is now one of the most eagerly anticipated blues rock releases of the year.
“We wanted to really get this one right,” says Adam. We know a lot of people are keen to hear it, so for it we have used a number of great studios and production talents to help us put it together.”
The album was recorded by James Welch at Masterlink Studios in Surrey, and then the tracks were handed over to Adam and Wayne who set about creating a tight, exciting live sound that reflected the band’s incredibly dynamic and popular live shows.
“It was important it sounded like us – no frills and tricks,” adds singer Jamie Smy. “Our live shows are so well received that we wanted to capture all the things we do best on this album. We have a real momentum behind us. It’s important that we capitalise on that with Spin The Bottle.”
Jamie and Adam are best friends who met at school when they were eleven. They have been in many bands together over the years, but it wasn’t until they both developed a deep love of the blues in their late teens, the idea for a powerful, dynamic blues band playing catchy songs took shape.
Although Adam formed The Mustangs – four-time British Blues award nominees and UK music scene veterans, he and Jamie eventually formed The Milk Men and were joined by Mike Roberts, who drummed with the legendary Pirates, and Lloyd Green on bass – son of British R’n’B guitar legend Mick Green.
This mix of talents and personalities has proved irresistible to the band’s ever-growing following. Jamie’s husky blues voice is reminiscent of Rod Stewart in his prime, he prances and preens about the stage like a man born to it. Shades of Freddie Mercury, Bon Scott, Lee Brilleaux and Fish all come into his performance, but with Jamie’s extra spoonful of humour and wit, there is no one quite like him.
Mike’s powerful drumming comes from a jazz background, and he brings with it a loveable, playful personality that comes out in his stage presence. He is also fast-becoming known as the best-dressed player on the circuit – always immaculately dressed from head to toe in fine suits. An homage to Charlie Watts perhaps?
With a music legend as a father, it would be easy for Lloyd Green to shy away from the stage, but with his beautiful bass playing – eloquent, lyrical, funky, and powerful, quite the opposite is true. He is the band’s secret weapon – crafting beautiful bass lines and performing them with an imposing, impressive stage presence that perfectly balances out Adam on the other side of Jamie.
A well-known veteran of the UK blues rock scene, guitarist Adam is the perfect foil to singer Jamie. The pair’s stage dynamic is electric, with Adam firing of live-wire solos you can sing along to, whilst his smooth tenor backing vocals blend perfectly with Jamie’s husky voice to create big harmonies in even bigger choruses.
And now, on Spin The Bottle, all the band’s talents come together to create their finest album yet. That’s a big statement, especially as their second album Gold Top hailed by many as a blues rock classic, and Deliverance reached the national Top 40 and got to number #9 on the UK Blues Chart. The band are confident that Spin The Bottle will eclipse the reputations of their previous three albums.
“This is a blues rock Thriller, or Rumours,” says Lloyd. “There’s no filler on here – the quality is there from the first note to the last. We felt we could have released any number of tracks as singles. It’s great to know that people will be humming along to every track, because the album is just full of hooks.”
The band’s philosophy is to deliver quality music, on stage and off, whilst letting people know you are having fun. That infectious attitude is all over Spin The Bottle from the big beats of first single Go Go Baby, to the bouncy groove and Elvis-inspired hooks of Fabulous. The band wears their influences on their sleeve, then rolls them up and gets on with delivering an album and live show that is somehow completely unique and unforgettable. “The best band we have ever had here” or “The most fun night we’ve had in ages” are becoming familiar end-of-the-night tributes at Milk Men gigs.
Why not Spin The Bottle yourself, and put some milk in your music? The best blues rock album of 2022 is on its way! Get ready for the Milk Men’s full-phat, gold-topped music delivered in style!

ALBUM TRACK BY TRACK
DRIVING IT Rev the engine! Pure foot-down, top-back rock’n’roll and a perfect opener to the album. The band plays at 100 mph through killer riffs and hooks.
CHEAP SEATS An infectious rock song that grooves like a Stevie Wonder classic, one to sing while you are tapping your toe.
GO GO BABY Full of energy and fun, Go Go Baby builds and builds to a dynamic crescendo, with hooks a-plenty along the way. ADELAIDE An acoustic epic that motors along on an enormous chorus, with an almost spiritual middle section. An instant classic!
HOW DO YOU THINK I FEEL? The band’s ability to shift styles yet always sound like themselves is second to none. An insanely catchy indie rock song with an affecting lyric about losing your girl to your best mate.
SING THE BLUES Harking back to the band’s blues beginnings, this is a sublime slice of original blues with a twist, with Adam’s clever guitar arrangements taking centre stage at the song’s climax.
GABBA GABBA HEY A brilliant earworm of a tribute to the Ramones. Sleazy, catchy, and full of fun.
FABULOUS Is it Elvis? Is it ZZ Top? All the band’s influences blend in yet another earworm of a track. Lloyd’s intricate, tight bass work dives the song brilliantly.
HIGHWAY WOMAN A grinding Hendrix-like riff gives way to a trippy late-60s style rock number, featuring blistering guitar work from Adam.
BAD SEED The album closes with a dark rock epic with shades of Pink Floyd and Queen. A huge riff drives the song over a dark lyric and epic guitar solo.

Following the full album premiere of Divine Council via Metal Injection earlier this week, PSYCROPTIC’s eighth full length is available on all streaming platforms today. Alongside Divine Council’s worldwide release the Australian extreme metal band have shared a new music video for Enslavement, ahead of their record release show in Melbourne, Australia today with support from Denouncement Pyre, Golgothan Remains and label mates Werewolves – more info on that show and tour dates below.
On Divine Council and the release show, the band comments: “Well, its finally here – the release day for the most challenging record we’ve made. We pushed ourselves musically to create something fresh while still keeping the “Psycroptic” sound…and logistically it was tough while planet ground to a halt. But, we got there. So tonight we party with our mates in Denouncement Pyre, Werewolves & Golgothan Remains in Melbourne at Max Watts!”
Brothers Dave Haley (drums) and Joe Haley (guitar) have steered PSYCROPTIC through different shades of death metal, from the technical to the experimental, with longtime vocalist and lyricist Jason Peppiatt and bassist Todd Stern further embellishing the sound of the band to create something that is distinctively PSYCROPTIC.
Origin vocalist Jason Keyser has long been considered a part of PSYCROPTIC’s extended family, and on Divine Council he contributes vocals to the album tracks. As Peppiatt wrote the lyrics and vocal patterns, the group were able to utilise an extended palette of styles to further enhance his sound, courtesy of Keyser and additional vocals from Amy Wiles, hitting upon a collective approach to complement the Haleys.
With writing and recording punctuated by a pandemic and subsequent strict lockdowns, Divine Council was recorded in various locations across Australia and North America. Drums were tracked at Anubis Studios by Chris Thelemco, bass was captured by Justin Spaeth at Cave Bound Studio, and guitars, vocals and synths were recorded by the band’s own Joe Haley at his Crawlspace Studios before he mixed and mastered the albums nine tracks. The suffocating atmosphere carries through to the lyrics that detail the myriad ways that human beings waste, destroy or devalue what’s in front of them – captured in the evocative album artwork, courtesy of the prolific Eliran Kantor. With narrative threads that throw back to tracks on both their self-titled album and As The Kingdom Drowns, PSYCROPTIC have found yet more new ways to explore human’s inherent inability to see the bigger picture – or change track before a miserable demise becomes a crushing inevitability.
Divine Council is an album that oozes confidence, maturity and a relaxed self assurance befitting of a band with a rich legacy behind them and an unconstrained future ahead of them.

Round about the time that Karisma Records were preparing to release “Everything to Everyone”, the fourth solo album from AIRBAG co-founder BJØRN RIIS, the much respected guitarist posited the idea that perhaps the label would be interested in a new mini album, one in which the inspiration he derived from PINK FLOYD could be given free rein.
Of course, Karisma Records were not about to pass up on such an intriguing proposition, and thus work commenced on “A Fleeting Glimpse”, a four-track mini album, which will be released on the 30th September of this year.
Bjørn has always had a huge admiration for PINK FLOYD in general, and guitarist DAVE GILMOUR in particular, and he has long wanted to try and write new material, that, as he says “really tries to get as close to the PINK FLOYD sound, without actually copying or simply doing covers”. And with “A Fleeting Glimpse”, he has more than fulfilled that ambition.
So, for aficionados of both Bjørn and PINK FLOYD, Karisma Records are today releasing a single taken from the upcoming album, and not just any single, because “Dark Shadows (part 1)” features guest vocals by none other than DURGA McBROOM, one of PINK FLOYD’s backing singers during the ’80’s and ’90’s.
Accompanying the track is a video directed by Anne-Marie Forker which can be seen below.
It is a track about which Bjørn has this to say:
Dark Shadows (part 1) was originally written for “Everything to Everyone”. I always liked the mood of this song so, for this project, I did some changes to the arrangements and wrote the lyrics. I’m very pleased with how it turned out because it is a powerful blend of both me and my sound and some familiar Floydian moods.
About working with DURGA McBROOM he went on to say:
It was such a thrill for me to work with Durga McBroom and have her beautiful voice on one of my songs. I grew up with that voice! She delivered a truly stunning performance.
McBroom herself seems to have relished the opportunity to have taken part, saying:
I thoroughly enjoyed working on this project. I think the song has a unique sound, and I’m honored to have been asked to sing on it.
“A Fleeting Glimpse” was recorded at the Double Decker Studios, Oslo (Pymlico) and the Riis Studio, Oslo. It was mixed at Subsonic Studio by long-time collaborator Vegard Kleftås Sleipnes, and was mastered by Jacob Holm-Lupo (WHITE WILLOW, THE OPIUM CARTEL).
Aside from Bjørn on vocals, guitars, bass and keyboards, and guest vocals from Durga McBroom, “A Fleeting Glimpse” also features appearances from Arild and Øyvind Brøter from PYMLICO, Per Øydir and Mimmi Tamba.
Coming in at just under 30 minutes, tracklisting for “A Fleeting Glimpse” is as follows:
1. Dark Shadows (part 1) 2. A Voyage to the Sun 3. Summer Meadows 4. Dark Shadows (part 2)
“A Fleeting Glimpse” will be available in Digisleeve CD, Digital and Limited Edition Transparent Blue Vinyl LP formats, and is now available to pre-order from:
Bjørn was still in his teens when guitar-led bands were at the forefront of the rise of the Progressive Rock movement, and this, together with an interest in Electronica and Movie Scores, influenced the young guitarist and led to him developing a style that is filled with soaring leads and gorgeous textures.
His undoubted skill stood him in good stead when he became one of the the founder members, lead guitarist, producer and main songwriter of one of Norway’s most successful Prog bands AIRBAG, and today he is also a prolific solo artist. Moreover, such is his knowledge of, the guitar, and all things related, that his YouTube channel has become an extremely successful destination for guitar fans. The channel can be seen at https://www.youtube.com/c/BjornRiisMusic
