The brand new album from undisputed kings of Viking heavy metal, AMON AMARTH – ‘ The Great Heathen Army‘ – has finally landed today via Metal Blade Records. Stream the full album HERE. To celebrate the release of their twelfth studio album, Amon Amarth have also released the official music video for brand new track ” Find A Way Or Make One “. Watch the new video HERE.

Speaking on the release of their latest opus, Amon Amarth share:

“Heathens! The time is here for the arrival of The Great Heathen Army! This record has many elements that make up Amon Amarth in 2022, from the dark and brutal death metal of “Oden Owns You All” to the sing-along of “Heidrun” to Biff Byford’s amazing guest vocals on “Saxons and Vikings” and much more. We’re ready to take this record around the world for a two year raid and we’ll see you soon at the shows.”

Elaborating on the video for brand new track, ” Find A Way Or Make One “, the band continue:

“We did this video with director Mikis Fontagnier in Frankfurt, Germany and with it we wanted to try something different. This video is our take on the style of some of our favorite videos we grew up on as kids, like Twisted Sister’s “We’re Not Gonna Take It” and Motorhead’s “Killed By Death”. We had some fun making this and it was definitely fun to smash up a stale old business office!“

In a unique partnership with Drops AR, Amon Amarth have hidden five virtual trading cards in an augmented reality scavenger hunt. Each card represents a band member and contains an exclusive song preview from the new album.

The hunt takes place in WebAR, meaning no app needs to be downloaded and anyone can participate. Head HERE for the scavenger hunt, where fans will also have the chance to enter to win an exclusive package that includes an Amon Amarth box set, a Blood Red Marbled vinyl and a music cassette.

Continuing the tradition of conquering new ground, Amon Amarth recently announced that they will be setting sail for US shores this Fall for what is set to be the death metal raid of the year. The Great Heathen Tour, produced by Live Nation, will pillage its way across North America this coming November/December, razing 27 cities to the ground in its wake. The tour concludes with a special show at the Kia Forum, Los Angeles where Amon Amarth will bring their full European production and become the first death metal band to headline the famous venue. No Sleep Til Los Angeles!!

Joining Amon Amarth on their epic quest will be Carcass, Obituary and Cattle Decapitation making this *the* must-see tour for fans of death metal. Tickets are on sale now at: amonamarth.com

KURT DEIMER Finishes New Film ‘Hellbilly Hollow’, Announces Shows with TESLA

In addition to recently wrapping up live shows in support of his debut EP ‘Work Hard Rock Hard’ – which he recorded with his bandmate, creative partner and Bon Jovi guitarist Phil X – the multi-talented Deimer will soon unleash his horror film franchise on the world. “My debut feature film, which I star in, is called ‘Hellbilly Hollow’,” says the actor/singer. “I was in ‘Trading Paint’ with John Travolta, and I was in ‘Halloween’ in 2018, where I was killed by Michael Myers. I had so much fun on those movies, I decided to flush out these ideas I had and do my own franchise – now ‘Hellbilly Hollow’ is finally ready for the world!”

Fans of Deimer’s music shouldn’t be concerned with him focusing solely on film, as he is impatiently waiting for the next tour to be lined up. “I cannot stand sitting at home not knowing when my next show is, I’m ready to play! This is rock n’ roll, and the best way to build our fanbase is to be out there in front of them. It’s so hard to grab people’s attention over social media and amidst all the chaos of the world – the best way to turning them on to what we do is getting people out to live shows.”

The feedback from the audiences that Deimer has played in front of has been outstanding. “Every time we play, we turn folks in the crowd into our fans. I go to the merch booth and sign autographs, take pictures and selfies, and people are always saying how refreshing we are, how unique we are. The biggest challenge I face in this business is everybody tells me I have to fit in this kind of niche, and I’m my own guy, we’re our own band, and we have our own unique sound – but we’re still a rock band, like AC/DC and Van Halen. All we need to do is play for people, and they realize what we’re all about.” And in September, Deimer will be opening a string of shows for Tesla in the US. Ticket info can be accessd here: https://kurtdeimer.com/pages/tour

Deimer’s new single, “Hero,” recently went to mainstream rock radio and received early support from WIIL in Chicago and saw regional success in the northeast. Additionally, there are more than 1.5 million combined YouTube views across his five official video releases, which can be viewed via these links:

“My Dad” – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0oqJpgkxjU0
“Hero” – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPzlBPogD1M&t=42s
“Naïve” – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sp-7ZopNcwQ

Although it’s been less than a year since Kurt made his debut, he’s already amassing quite the highlight reel. “I met Geoff Tate, he gave me a chance and gave me my first tour, and he was in a music video with me. He was on the song ‘Burn Together’ on ‘Work Hard Rock Hard,’ and he totally gave me an opportunity – like somebody probably gave him back in the day. Second highlight: going out on the Yngwie Malmsteen tour and winning over fans. He’s a shredder, and we came out and did our brand of rock, and I think we complimented each other very well. Another highlight was bringing my demo to L.A. and Chris Lord-Alge thinking it was good enough and seeing potential in me. He discovered me and took me under his wing. And yet another highlight was Chris bringing me and Phil X together to do our first song as a team, a cover of Pink Floyd’s ‘Have a Cigar.’ Now, Phil X and I are great friends and we’re on a mission together for the rest of our lives.”

Kurt’s future plans? “Tour, tour, tour, tour… We’re working on some really cool stage productions. We want to continue towards our goal of bringing our unique style around the world and play for people and make differences in people’s lives. We want to give back to the communities we play in, give back to those who risk their lives for us – veterans, our military and first responders – and just continue to build as a rock band, grow, and mature.”

SERAINA TELLI Releases Solo Debut Album “Simple Talk” on October 21st

Swiss multi-talent SERAINA TELLI releases her solo debut “Simple Talk” on 21.10. on Metalville Records.

Female Fronted Rock has a new face: SERAINA TELLI

The charismatic Swiss singer leaves a lasting impression. Visually and musically. Her music is as colorful and varied as her hair colors, one of her typical distinguishing features. The multi-talent is reluctant to be tied to one style, as her previous musical career shows. As the former front woman of the Swiss heavy metal band “Burning Witches”, she shook the stages of major rock festivals such as „Bang your Head“ und „Leyendas del Rock“ for four years.

Now the time is ripe for her solo project, named after herself: Seraina Telli

“I am what I am and that’s just right!” This message is very important to Seraina Telli. She wants to motivate other women in particular to believe in themselves, to be completely with themselves and, above all, to stay that way.

Seraina Telli combines everything that the modern rock world urgently needs: great songwriting, vocal power, musical versatility, artistic depth and a really strong attitude. Coupled with her authenticity, she is the ideal mix of power woman and promising young artist.

Colorful-loud-different-and above all-unique! With a style of music that “Straight in your Face Rock” couldn’t describe better. All of this and much more is: Seraina Telli

TANKARD Release ‘Ex-Fluencer’ Video/Single; New Full-Length “Pavlov’s Dawgs” Out September 30th

German thrash legends TANKARD have released their “Ex-Fluencer” video, the second single from their forthcoming new full-length, Pavlov’s Dawgs, set for release on September 30th on their new label home, Reaper Entertainment.

The video was recorded at this year’s Rockharz Festival, where the song made its live debut.

Comments vocalist Andreas “Gerre” Geremia, “The content of the song is about the dark side of social media madness, in which the protagonist visibly loses herself and drifts into a completely surreal world, but fortunately finds her way out again in the end. In my opinion, our guitarist Andi [Gutjahr] has created one of the coolest riffs on the new album, accompanied by scenes from this year’s Rockharz Festival with the sensational fans behind, this clip can only mutate into a hit! Click or die!”

The track is also available on all digital platforms.

The taps are polished, the Freibier is flowing, and TANKARD are finally back to what they do best five long years after their last studio album: Thrashing madly, drinking thirstily, and ever so cleverly intertwining metal, humor and sarcastic social commentary into one big raucous ball of entertainment. Even after four steamy, liver-destroying, gut-stretching decades in the name of heavy metal, there’s no stopping the TANKARD beer crew. Pavlov’s Dawgs, the band’s remarkable eighteenth studio album, arrives just in time for the celebrations surrounding their fortieth birthday.

Pavlov’s Dawgs, which was recorded and produced at Gernhard Studio Troisdorf together with producer Martin Buchwalter, will be available on CD, vinyl in various color variants, limited earbook with previously unreleased pictures from the last forty years of TANKARD, and as a limited box set which includes two demos on cassette.

VIRTUAL SYMMETRY Release Single + Video ‘Butterfly Effect’

Swiss-Italian cinematic/progressive metal outfit VIRTUAL SYMMETRY has just premiered a lyric video for “Butterfly Effect,” the second single from their eponymous fourth album, approaching September release through Sensory Records.

VIRTUAL SYMMETRY was founded in 2009 as a solo project of guitarist Valerio Æsir Villa, when the first ideas for the debut album, Message From Eternity, began taking shape. The band’s lineup has since expanded to now include vocalist Marco Pastorino, keyboardist Marco “Mark” Bravi, bassist Alessandro Poppale, and drummer Alfonso Mocerino. Featuring members of Temperance and Fallen Sanctuary, the band is a revelation in the progressive metal universe, stunning their fans and listeners with influences which range from classical music to contemporary metal and a style characterized by epic suites, rich of cinematic elements and balance between melody and technique, leading the listeners through a dynamic and emotional journey in each track.

Between 2018 and 2020, VIRTUAL SYMMETRY composed and produced their third album, Exoverse, which was recorded at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios in Bath, UK, and featured special guests including legendary drummer Thomas Lang, a return performance by Dream Theater keyboardist Jordan Rudess, saxophonist Ruben Paganelli, the symphonic orchestra Sinfonietta Consonus, and Evergrey’s Tom S. Englund. Some honorable mentions among their live shows are 2015’s debut live show with Evergrey and Dream Theater, 2017’s live show supporting Deep Purple’s keyboardist Don Airey.

Featuring eight sprawling and immersive songs, Virtual Symmetry was recorded by the band then mixed and mastered at Domination Studio by Simone Mularoni (DGM, Michael Romeo, Turilli Lione Rhapsody) and completed with artwork and photography by Kyrhian Balmelli.

The lyric video for VIRTUAL SYMMETRY’s new “Butterfly Effect” single was created by Stefano Mastronicola. The band’s vocalist Marco Pastorino writes, “Our new single, ‘Butterfly Effect,’ is a totally unconventional track for VIRTUAL SYMMETRY. Right from the beginning of the song, there are tons of different influences; first, the lead vocal and the piano together, then the mid-tempo chorus, and the second verse is totally inspired by R&B and groovy stuff. Enjoy the moment; our full-length is coming!”

VIRTUAL SYMMETRY’s “Butterfly Effect” lyric video is now playing at THIS LOCATION, and the song is live on all digital providers HERE.

Sensory Records will issue Virtual Symmetry on CD and digital platforms on September 16th. Preorders are available at the label webshop HERE and at Bandcamp where “Come Alive” is playing; the standard version HERE and the 24-bit hi-res version HERE. Also watch the “Come Alive” video HERE.

Watch for additional previews of Virtual Symmetry to be issued ahead of the album’s release.

VIRTUAL SYMMETRY has been confirmed alongside Fractal Universe as support for Evergrey for five weeks on their 2022 European tour, which runs from September 16th – the day of Virtual Symmetry’s release – through October 23rd. See all confirmed tour dates and more at the band’s website HERE and at their various social media points.

Interview with LIV KRISTINE: “The album reflects where I am today”

Interview By Alison Booth

Norwegian vocalist, LIV KRISTINE is a true a pioneer of women in metal. She is well known for being the vocalist with gothic metallers THEATRE OF TRAGEDY and also the founder and original vocalist of symphonic metal band LEAVES’ EYES, plus much more besides! Liv is set to re-release her “Enter My Religion” album for the first time on vinyl on August 19th via Allegro Talent Media/ Plastic Head/ Zyx Music. The album will also be released on cassette, with two bonus tracks and as a double CD with unreleased tracks and demo recordings.

A little while ago,  Metal Shock Finland’s Alison Booth caught up with Liv for her radio show Blackdiamond’s Metal Mayhem, which is broadcast every Tuesday from 6PM GMT on UK station TotalRock. The show with Liv can be heard here.

The forthcoming released was discussed, as well as Liv‘s career and more besides!  You can listen to the interview on the audio player and read some excerpts below:

Discussing the album release, Liv explained:

“I’m very, very happy about it because Enter My Religion was, as it was released back in 2005, it was there just shortly and then it disappeared and the reason for this was that my label partner back then – Roadrunner Records, were bought by somebody else. So there was an internal structural change in the company, so I was one of the ones who had to leave Roadrunner Records for that reason.

I really liked working with Roadrunner Records, but I got my rights back after many years and my first thought was let’s bring it back with a facelift. I’m very happy about the re-release, because it was a very important step in my personal development back then, but it just as much reflects where I am today.”

Regarding her career, Liv revealed:

“Sometimes I thought I really just wanna get out of it and around the times of Enter My Religion, or I would say before, a couple of years before, there was a court case, there was all this stuff going on, which has nothing to do with personal development, authenticity. It’s all about money and I felt strange in the music business. So now, being able to release Enter My Religion by myself is a huge step forward.”

On how her role has adapted over the years, Liv reminisced:

“It was very exciting to be able to go on the road and play gigs at the age of eighteen, nineteen years – coming from Stavanger, from the darkness of Norway where it always rains. All of a sudden we were out there and it went really fast and we got famous overnight.

We found ourselves in the middle of everything, this great music circus and we seemed to be pioneers. But we didn’t feel that way, because we were just being so authentic. We loved Shakespeare, we loved doom metal, we loved Black Sabbath, Anathema, Paradise Lost and we were just eager to express ourselves.

It was kind of refreshing to see how things have developed since then. You have a lot of bands now, female fronted metal bands and I think that’s great. It doesn’t matter if you’re in the gothic metal genre or if you’re like more the rock ‘n’ roll lady, it doesn’t matter. I just think to me personally that it’s important we have more women in metal. I adore Doro and the work she has done, she was a pioneer for me.“
