Saga guitarist Ian Crichton, Saxon drummer Nigel Glockler and vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Robert Berry (3; Emerson, Berry, Palmer) have joined forces to form new prog supergroup SiX By SiX.

The trio will release their self-titled debut album on August 19 via InsideOutMusic/Sony Music. Jimmy Kay from Canada’s The Metal Voice recently spoke with  Saga guitarist Ian Crichton and  Saxon drummer Nigel Glockler about this new band and their plans.

When asked about the musical direction of this new album
“We are a mixture of Prog and Rock and with the three different guys.  Robert  was playing with Keith Emerson and Carl Palmer. Nigel who is playing with Saxon and I am with Saga, it’s like three different worlds and it’s made a really interesting Prog Rock thing. I think we have come up with our own style of Rock really. We made our own Sandwich. When we started writing, things just came out. I didn’t consciously sit down and specifically try to write one way. I was just writing. I would send Robert my ideas and he would send it back and that’s how it really worked, the songs just developed that way. The music is heavier than Saga but having said that the album takes you on a pretty nice journey so there are a lot of different feelings, places, styles that we come up with. There is a lot of moods on the record, it’s not all one heavy thing or light thing.” – Ian Crichton

“As Ian says it’s definitely Rock cause all of us have Rock in us.  All of us three come from completely different backgrounds and styles of music we are playing and Six By Six is the result.” -Nigel Glockler

When asked if they are planning to tour the album
“We want to tour, the whole plan is to take this out, I am really excited about the fact when we can do it, I’m really looking forward to it. ”  -Nigel Glockler

When asked about potential setlists if the band plays live
“Well we have a few songs that didn’t make the record that we really liked, we would probably present those too. A show would be an hour and a half long we can do all kinds of stuff to the material we have, stretch out some parts.” -Ian Crichton

Tracklisting:

“Yearning To Fly”
“China”
“Reason To Feel Calm Again”
“The Upside Of Down”
“Casino”
“Live Forever”
“The Last Words On Earth”
“Skyfall”
“Battle Of A Lifetime”
“Save The Night”

American Doom Groove Metal band, HEREAFTER, have released their debut EP, “Fires of the Flame,” via Sonic Velocity Records. Get “Fires of the Flame” digitally here

Hereafter features vocalist Chris Natalini (former Blood Feast), drummer Mad T (Corners of Sanctuary), bassist Robert Bigler (Burned in Effigy) and guitarist/producer Mick Michaels (Corners of Sanctuary). The group started working together during the early part of the pandemic.

“Devil By Your Side” is the EP’s first single and can be heard here:

Hereafter is a melodically charged mixture of guitar driven force, rhythmically pungent drums, a bottomless pit of explosive bass topped off with a mass load of razor sharp vocals. “Fires of the Flame” superbly exudes this band’s writing ability to seamlessly capture a subtle level of intensity threaded together with a natural flow of musicality and grace which many critics today feel is now missing in modern music.

“The initial response has been very positive,” said guitarist/producer Mick Michaels. “It’s inspiring…especially for an EP that started out as something for a few friends to do during the pandemic…but it evolved into so much more…I’m excited about it.”

Hereafter demonstrates and delivers their own methodical twist of Metal for fans to experience and sink their teeth into. A mixture of sounds and styles has flawlessly been executed to create a unique flavor and presence to give “Fires of the Flame” its own exclusive edge and appeal.

“It’s definitely different…,” said Hereafter vocalist Chris Natalini. “Much more different than what I’ve done before…but it proved to be more than just a side project like Mick said; it became a different kind of something.”

“Fires of the Flame” is now available digitally via Sonic Velocity Records on Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, iTunes, YouTube Music and Amazon among many other online platforms.

OV SULFUR Release New Track + Video for ‘Wide Open’

Vegas blackened deathcore band OV SULFUR have just released their new track and music video for “Wide Open”.

“We’re excited to open your eyes (and ears) to the new chapter of Ov Sulfur. The song features some INSANE growls and shrieks from Ricky, which show just how far he’s come since his time in Suffokate,” states OV SULFUR about the new track. “The music is similarly elevated, with the three (3!) breakdowns outdoing anything we’ve done before yet the chorus and dual solo bring some much-needed melody to the proceedings. Yes, at the risk of sounding like a cliché (I mean, we are a metal band who hates religion…), it’s our heaviest yet most melodic track yet.

“Speaking of hating religion, this song is about waking up, pulling the veil from over your eyes and leaving the false faith in the past.”

FUCK THE SALVATION. LET US BE DAMNED!”

Stream here.

Someone should have warned God to keep his enemies close because Ricky Hoover’s been biding his time and sharpening his blades. The former Suffokate vocalist swapped his mic for a straight razor, tour life for family life and, yes, those huge stretched ears for comparably large muscles. In short, Hoover is ready for war.

Last August’s Oblivion EP was just the first volley, one planned over a decade away from music. With Century Media on board, it’s about to get goddamn apocalyptic on forthcoming single “Wide Open” and beyond. “Wide Open” finds their blackened deathcore reaching bleaker depths, with Hoover’s growls plumbing the abyssic depths and summoning lesser demons’ screeching. Guitarists Chase Wilson and Matt Janz build the perfect brutal backdrop complete with three breakdowns—plus a dueling solo for good measure—while mononymously named rhythm section (bassist Ding and drummer Leviathvn) provide a solid yet frenetic base.

A band born from the pandemic, it’s been less than a year since the debut release and just over one since debut single “Behind the Hand of God,” yet the growth is palpable. The band sold out their first show, which doubled as a record release, following it with two weekends of solid headliners before hitting the road with the likes of Carnifex, Impending Doom, Signs of the Swarm, Bury Your Dead, Enterprise Earth, Worm Shepherd and more. Up next is a run supporting As I Lay Dying, Whitechapel and Shadow of Intent.

Finnish post-hardcore ‘violent pop’ collective BLIND CHANNEL have released their brand new single ‘Don’t Fix Me’, taken from the forthcoming album Lifestyles Of The Sick & Dangerous.

‘Don’t Fix Me’ is a huge rock anthem, where mighty riffs and pummelling drums meet synths, captivating harmonies and a frenzied rap from vocalist Niko Moilanen. The accompanying video captures the band on the road during their recent tours across the US and Europe which is available to watch HERE

Regarding the single Blind Channel say, “‘ Don’t Fix Me’ continues the theme of brokeness, featured on the upcoming album. However, this time we decided to be empowering and uplifting and wrote something people wanna scream while having the craziest time of their lives. This song is the soundtrack for the wildest parties and the cure for the day-after’s hangover.”

‘Don’t Fix Me’ is the latest song to be taken from the band’s upcoming fourth album Lifestyles Of The Sick & Dangerous, which also features the previously released award-winning and multi-million streamed singles including ‘Bad Idea’, ‘Dark Side’ ‘Balboa’ and ‘We Are No Saints’.

Blind Channel were the most successful artist at the recent Finnish Grammy Awards (Emma Gala) last month, where they received six awards, including two for ‘Dark Side’ (‘Song Of The Year’ & ‘Most Streamed Song’). They also were awarded ‘Band Of The Year’, ‘Artist Of The Year’ (by public vote), ‘Rock Of The Year’ and the ‘Export Award’ – the latter testament to their rapidly rising international profile having spent almost the entirety of this year on the road throughout the US, Europe and UK.
