ANTHEA Share New Video for Title Track of Sophomore Album “Tales Untold”

Los Angeles symphonic prog metallers ANTHEA announce their return in 2022 with their sophomore album “Tales Untold” to be released once again via Rockshots Records this coming August to follow their 2020 debut “Illusion”.

For the new album, Anthea has taken the reigns for a more DIY approach with vocalist Diego Valadez taking over also as the full-length’s producer along with bassist Eric “EJ” Guerrero in charge of music videos and photography.

“We released our debut album in 2020, but were, unfortunately, like everyone else, unable to tour or play live gigs. However, this gave us a lot of extra time to really craft this follow-up album into something special. Tales Untold was written and recorded throughout 2021 and I am so proud of the end result.” adds Valadez.

Fans of Anthea‘s first album “Illusion” will enjoy this one even more. The difference with this next record is that Anthea has a more mature sound and has carefully thought out the ebb and flow throughout it. Their end goal is to give a very dynamic and cinematic album in which the listener feels as though they’ve gone through a grand musical journey once they’ve reached the end.

“We also wanted to create a sense of escapism while keeping one fit in the real world lyrically.”
Today in preview of the album, the band is sharing with fans a new music video for its title track. The opening song is about how art inspires new generations of art forms whether it be novels, music, movies, poetry, etc.

“I just find the interconnectivity of it all fascinating. This song itself wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for the music that we were influenced by, and their music wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for what they were listening to, and so on and so on.“ says Valadez.

Watch and listen to “Tales Untold” below.

ROBIN TROWER Releases New Video ‘Ball Of Fire’, Inspired By Classic Gary Cooper Film

The iconic guitarist ROBIN TROWER invites fans into the studio for the recording of “Ball of Fire,” the latest single from his new studio album, ‘No More Worlds To Conquer,’ out now via Provogue. According to Trower, the song was inspired by a documentary about an iconic actor. “’Ball Of Fire’ popped into my head the day after watching a program about Gary Cooper, who was in a film called Ball Of Fire,” he recalls.

Last month Trower released a video for “The Razor’s Edge,” anther standout track from the album, featuring what the guitarist calls “some of my favorite guitar work I’ve played on a recording in a long time,” “The Razor’s Edge” finds the guitarist shining a light on the failure of world leaders today. “’The Razor’s Edge’ and ‘Cloud Across The Sun,’” Trower comments, “those are definitely about my dissatisfaction with the politicians of the day – pointing the finger at the ones that don’t keep their promises.”

Few would dispute that the title of Robin Trower’s latest album – ‘No More Worlds To Conquer’ – is a fair summary of the thumbprint he has left on the musical universe. But as he reminds us, it should not be misinterpreted as his mission being accomplished. “I definitely feel like I’m still reaching,” he considers, “with the guitar, and the songs, and everything else.”

For more than six decades, Robin Trower’s career has known no bounds. At the age of 76, the British guitarist can reflect on a journey in which he has planted flags across the musical sphere and played every role imaginable. He’s been the driving force behind Sixties icons Procol Harum. The transatlantic solo star who filled US stadiums with 1974’s Bridge Of Sighs. The collaborator and occasional supergroup member. The elder-statesman songwriter whose late period still crackles with invention.

Featuring vocals and bass from the late Jim Dewar – along with jaw-dropping guitar work from Trower that has influenced everyone from Steve Lukather to Opeth – the US-gold-selling ‘Bridge Of Sighs’ is perhaps his flagship album.

“With every album, it’s the best I can do at that particular time. I think that’s what it’s about. I set myself goals and each song has to live up to them,” he reflects.

“What usually happens is that I’m playing the guitar for fun and an idea will suddenly appear,” he continues. “Then you’re looking for a lyric that grows out of the music and enhances the mood. it’s lovely when you’ve gone right the way through from the beginning of the first little guitar idea that grows into a song and eventually you get a track down and finished – and it’s something like how you heard it in your head.”

Turning once again to his trusty toolkit of Fender Stratocaster and Marshall amp, Trower’s guitar work is ageless, whether that’s the tough chop of “Ball Of Fire,” “Losing You and Cloud Across The Sun,” or the slower-burn wah squalls of the title track and “Deadly Kiss.” “Each track has to work as a sound,” he says, “as well as music and everything else. I’m very particular over guitar tones. I drive people mad, but in the end, it’s worth all the aggravation.”

On “Waiting For The Rain To Fall,” Trower’s playing is crystalline as a dew drop, while the aching finale, “I Will Always Be Your Shelter,” offers a solo whose masterful touch is compelling as anything in his catalogue. “That’s a real high point for the playing,” he nods. “And ‘Waiting For The Rain To Fall,’ I think is influenced by Tamla Motown. It’s a bit left-of-centre for me to do a song like that. But I think it’s potent stuff. I’m hoping this album will surprise people.”

Once again, Trower also handles bass duties, but as a lifelong servant of the song over his own ego, he didn’t hesitate to enlist other musicians. “Livingstone Brown played bass on three tracks, and Chris Taggart is on drums,” he explains. “He’s a wonderful drummer, and he’s done the last three or four albums. And I started to realize, after I’d tried to sing these songs myself, that I wasn’t vocally up to it. Richard Watts has done a great job on vocals. He’s got a fantastic instrument – such a soulful singer – and he’s willing to get it exactly how I’m hearing it in my head. The other great thing about having Richard is that there’s quite a few songs on this album that I wouldn’t be able to play and sing live at the same time.”

“It was difficult, but I’m glad I did it,” he considers. “This album is an evolution. I’m hoping that’s what is always happening with my music. There’s a huge step between Bridge Of Sighs and now. It’s like anything. The more you work on it, in theory, the better you should be at it. And I definitely feel like this album is one of the best things I’ve ever done.”

LONG DISTANCE CALLING Release New Single + Video ‘Giants Leaving’

After the first single “Kamilah”, LONG DISTANCE CALLING will release the second single “Giants Leaving” on 05.27.22, from their album “Eraser”, which will be released on August 26th.

With a concise and elegant rush of sound, an irresistible four-to-the-floor beat and some of the sharpest hooks in LONG DISTANCE CALLING’s history, “Giants Leaving” is dedicated to the albatross.

“The song is dedicated to the albatross, unfortunately, one of many species facing extinction. The albatross is a beautiful and majestic creature, soaring across the skies with the largest wingspan in nature. The albatross is one of a few monogamous  species, making it more challenging to mate in an increasingly dangerous and  overfished environment, decreasing food availability and ongoing pollution.” – Long  Distance Calling

Preorder “ERASER” here: https://ldc.lnk.to/EraserAlbum

The eighth album of LONG DISTANCE CALLING Eraser is a direct and intimate tribute to the gradual erosion of nature by man. Thus, the band has dedicated the album to the endangered species of the world, with each song representing a particular creature threatened with extinction.

Listen to „GIANTS LEAVING“ here: https://ldc.lnk.to/GiantsLeavingSingle

Produced by Costin Chioreanu and similar to the first video, “Kamilah”, the 3-minute  video to “Giants Leaving” makes use of creative animations that play with different facets of the albatross.

Sweeping, progressive and endlessly inventive, Eraser is unmistakably another high point in the career of these passionate, musical individualists. When a worldwide pandemic threatened to throw LONG DISTANCE CALLING off track, they put their energy into new music, writing their best album yet.  European tour dates are currently being booked for 2023.

Tracklisting:
1. Enter: Death Box
2. Blades
3. Kamilah
4. 500 Years
5. Sloth
6. Giants Leaving
7. Blood Honey
8. Landless King
9. Eraser

OV SULFUR Sign with Century Media Records, Announce Contest for New Song, Coming Out June 8th

Vegas blackened deathcore band OV SULFUR announce their signing to Century Media Records.

“We’re beyond excited to join forces with Century Media, whose stellar roster speaks for itself. They’ve been at the forefront of every scene, regularly picking up the best each subgenre has to offer right before it really explodes. That they saw promise in us was truly affirming and invigorating, especially after only a year-and-a-bit as a band,” states the band about signing to Century Media.

Additionally, OV SULFUR are gearing up to release their new track “Wide Open” on June 8th. Stay tuned for more details on that release. In the meantime, the band have launched a contest for their Century Media debut track. Fans can pre-save/pre-add the single starting today, HERE, and one lucky winner will win Ricky’s custom made “Wide Open” shirt seen in the band’s previous music video for “Behind the Hand of God” and during all their live shows.

“We’ve been teasing ‘Wide Open’ since our first music video, where Ricky wore a custom-made shirt that quickly became his stage gear. We’re happy that this liminal song will serve as our first release on Century Media, closing the last chapter and ushering in a new one.”

Last August’s Oblivion EP was just the first volley, one planned over a decade away from music. With Century Media on board, it’s about to get goddamn apocalyptic on forthcoming single “Wide Open” and beyond. “Wide Open” finds their blackened deathcore reaching bleaker depths, with Hoover’s growls plumbing the abyssic depths and summoning lesser demons’ screeching. Guitarists Chase Wilson and Matt Janz build the perfect brutal backdrop complete with three breakdowns—plus a dueling solo for good measure—while mononymously named rhythm section (bassist Ding and drummer Leviathvn) provide a solid yet frenetic base.
